Success Is Relative · TUESDAY 8th July Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain (1 Corinthians 9:24). To be successful means living the victorious life through God’s Word. It also means to achieve God’s desired goals for your life. You ought not to measure your success by comparing yourself with someone else, because you may not know God’s plan for that person’s life. Don’t think you’re failing just because someone else is "succeeding." God doesn’t define success that way. Success is relative, and we’re all at different stages in life. Between you and God, you can know whether you’re successful or not. God measures your success by how much you’re able to accomplish of the things He’s planned for you to do, at different phases of your life. You can look at your life today, even now, and tell whether you’re a success, at this phase of your life. God’s dream is for you to heap success upon success. If you’re successful now, He can count on you for more, and entrust you with an even higher level of success tomorrow. Therefore, measure your success at each point in your life by comparing your performance or accomplishments with the goals you set to achieve at the beginning. You can be a success at a certain level and then the goal broadens, the challenges are increased, and the dyke is raised. When you overcome the challenges and attain those new goals, you become a success again at that new level. It goes on that way from one level of glory to another. Prayer... Dear Lord, thank you for showing me how to run with patience the race that you’ve set before me. My gaze is on you Lord Jesus, and my energies are focused on fulfilling your plans and purpose for my life. I refuse to compare myself with anyone else, but measure my success in life with your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Challenges: Life’s Exams For Your Promotion ·MONDAY 7th July Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). The Christian life is a journey, and in that journey, there’re challenges. These challenges are springboards for your promotion. Some have thought the moment they became Christians, they would no longer face challenges. Bewildered, they ask, "Why do I still have troubles? Why do I still have problems with my health? Why is it that when I pray, the things I pray about don’t happen instantly?" These and other related questions puzzle their minds from time to time. If there’re no challenges to your faith, your faith can’t be strengthened. Life isn’t about how smooth things are; you aren’t promoted without the tests of life; that’s what challenges are. God has to let you face certain things so you can exercise your faith and win; and when you do, you’re decorated for more. Never buckle in the day of trouble. Don’t cry. Instead, eyeball the devil and say, "Devil, no matter what you do, I’m more than a conqueror. Greater is He that’s in me, than he that’s in the world!" Learn from the Apostle Paul who, despite the tribulations, trials, and temptations he faced, didn’t buckle under the pressure. Rather, he latched on to the consolation of the Holy Spirit, while consoling and comforting others who were in trouble with the same comfort he had received. That same comfort of the Holy Spirit is available for you today. Therefore, no matter the challenges you face, they’re bread for you. Stand tall and refuse to fear. Keep the Word of victory in your mouth! You have the comfort of the Word, and the consolation of the Holy Spirit, to go on and win! No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. 1 John 4:4 says, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." Prayer... Heavenly Father, I thank you for the strength, comfort, boldness and faith that your Word ministers to my spirit. I’m confident to withstand and subdue the challenges that may come my way, conscious that they’re the springboards for my promotion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Candour: Is that the new problem bugging you now?? Did you see any word resembling premonition in the post you're referring to?Yes, answer why you implied that ur grandmother had premonitions and Jesus was an exception cos he was God, hence I asked, did the heroes of the Bible also had premonitions? |
Candour: Thank God for this hymn. if only he understands and believes the hymn his own hands reproduced.Lol ![]() How does the above suggest the folks of old in the Bible had premonitions like your grandmother? |
Oh well! He can't answer... cos he knows the truth would mean shooting his foot This thread reminds me the hymn of a dear man of God years years ago Joseph Henry Gilmore 1834-1918 He leadeth me! O blessed thought, O words with heav’nly comfort fraught; Whate’er I do, where’er I be, Still ’tis Christ’s hand that leadeth me. He leadeth me! He leadeth me!By His own hand He leadeth me;His faithful follower I would be, For by His hand He leadeth me. 2Sometimes ’mid scenes of deepest gloom, Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom, By waters still, o’er troubled sea, Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me. 3Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine, Nor ever murmur or repine; Content, whatever lot I see, Since it is Thou that leadest me. 4And when my task on earth is done, When, by Thy grace, the vict’ry’s won, E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee, Since Thou in triumph leadest me. Candour: [s]See what Hezekiah didKeep circling, when you done, answer this asides Jesus, did the rest Bible heroes had premonitions about their deaths? Cheers |
^^ Was God mistaken when He sent Isaiah to Hezekiah? See, God passed a judgement on Hezekiah, Hezekiah pleaded his case, using faith and activating God's principles, and it worked, cos God can't break His Word and principles... Isaiah 41:21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. That's God’s principles, Isaiah wrote it, same Isaiah whomwent to Hezekiah, however, Hezekiah activated that principle in faith, God had to respond, But note, the man refused to die, he rejected death sentence by pleading his case. That is in no way answer to my question asides Jesus, did the rest Bible heroes had premonitions about their deaths? Note, atheists or muslims etc could have premonitions, if they could, what then is the basis of the deaths of these Heroes? Are the natural man's way of death same as the man in God? |
mba emeka: Hebrews 11:35King James Version (KJV)Very apt reply... the rejected deliverance, and gave up their lives willingly, death not snatching them away, they were above desth n it's forces...it was like it was with Jesus, a lamb willingly going to the slaughterhouse. What candour is circling around, is not because he doesn't understand what the op is saying, he knows, but as usual, he wants to drag the page into unwated numbers. I asked him a short but precise kweshun which he failed woefully to answer... i asked him according to him, asides Jesus, the rest Bible heroes had premonitions about their deaths? He wrote an epistle and didn’t answer the question. If ghey had premonitions like he claimed his grandmother had, it then means thst since even atheists could have premonitions, then the Christian then is a huge waste of time due to the fact that an atheist or muslim or Hindus etc can have premonitions just as Bible heroes did God said he wanted every body to see the difference between the hebrews and the egyptians, why? Because there is ALWAYS a difference between those who serve God and those who doesn't. A Christian should not check out of here like the natural man does, why? Because ALL the Christian does is by far different from what the natural man or any man outside Christ does, even death. So, I'd let him hold on to semantics of decide or decide not... Jesus said no one can take His life from Him, He decides to lay his life and take it whenever he pleases, why? I'd show Candour John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. The underlined is the reason why the heroes of Bible days n the new creation should not be snatched by death, and declare like Jesus, no man takes their lives away from them, they decide when it's time to check out...Time the Father has ordained. |
Sorry folks...would respond on this thread after service |
CULTIVATE GODLY HABITS - Sunday, July 6th According to his usual habit Paul went to the synagogue. There during three Sabbaths he held discussions with the people… (Acts 17:2 GNB). Some habits programme you positively for success, while some others programme you negatively for failure. For example, a student who stays up late to watch movies is definitely programming himself wrongly. He shouldn’t expect to turn out the same way with another who’s studious at night, and spends his time wisely. The latter will most likely end up an excellent student, while the former ends up average or even obtuse. Human beings are born with “wild” instincts; they come into the world as babies who are uncultured and untamed. As they grow, their inherent “wildness” makes it easier for them to pick up bad habits faster than good ones. This explains why a child may start telling lies without anyone necessarily teaching him how to. As he continues in it, it forms his character. Thus the Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Children are to be taught early to imbibe godly habits. The older you get, the more difficult it is to adjust your habits. An adult can’t change easily because he already has a lifestyle, and to change it, he’ll have to get a new one. He’ll only have the opportunity of a new lifestyle when he’s born again; that’s when he receives a brand new life and a new Lord over his life. If you’re unhappy because of an unwholesome habit, don’t become frustrated; rather, realize that habits are simply repeated actions. If you’d replace that old habit with a good one, you’d get rid of the one you don’t like. The Bible says sin shall not have dominion over you (Romans 6:14). God’s Word is given to us to guide our thoughts, habits, character, and ultimately build our lives. Whatever godly habit you desire to cultivate is possible. Spend more time in God’s Word and prayer, and your life will align with His perfect will. Prayer. .. Heavenly Father, I thank you for your Word has in it the ability to make me what it talks about. Jesus Christ is Lord of my life; I refuse to be in bondage to any habit or lifestyle that’s contrary to your Word. I have the greater One living in me, and He guides and propels me from within, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Invest Your Time In Spiritual Things · SATURDAY 5th July See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:15-16). Time is an asset, which you must learn to invest wisely. Investing your time wisely means investing your time in spiritual things. Moses had this on his mind when he prayed to the Lord to "...Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom" (Psalms 90:12). Each day you live is an opportunity to accomplish so much, but the question is: How well do you schedule your day? When you wake up in the morning, don’t just roll off your bed and stumble blindly into the day. Spend quality time first to fellowship with the Holy Spirit in prayer and in the Word. Ask Him to guide you as you schedule your activities for the day and prioritize your activities. Ask Him to help you save time, and you’d discover how much you’re able to accomplish for the Kingdom on a daily basis. Then, you’ll become more productive, effective and progressive. Remember that life’s got no extra time; so make every day count by doing only those things that’ll advance the Kingdom of God, and improve your life. There’re people who have desired for a long time to read the entire Bible in one year but haven’t been able to achieve this. Some start bu tdon’t complete it. "I usually don’t have enough time," they lament, trying to exonerate themselves, but that’s not a good enough excuse. Time is a fixed asset; it’s only twenty-four hours in one day; so we have to prioritize. If you were wishing to have more time to study God’s Word, the truth is, you may never get it. What you need is to create the time to study the Word, and schedule your prayer times as well, because your whole future depends on it. Proverbs 1:32 says, "For the turning away of the simple shall slay them…." The simple are those who ignore truth; they ignore revelation and never take spiritual things seriously. They know it’s important to pray, but they’re too busy to do so. God calls them the simple, and He says their complacent attitude shall make them victims in life. Don’t be like the simple, who would rather do other things than spend time on spiritual matters. Choose always to be spiritually alert so that when the "evil day" comes, it’ll meet you well prepared and you’ll know what to do. Prayer... Dear Father, I thank you for the guidance of your Spirit in my life, and the wisdom that you impart to me each day. I’m continually yielded to the Lordship of your Word. Thus, my steps are ordered in victory, success, and excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. alexleo: You people dont read posts well before replying. I said whenever i am sick i pray to God for healing and also pray for grace to be fit for heaven IF MY TIME TO LEAVE THIS WORLD IS UP. What is confusing, what reeks of fear and unbelief in this statement? Whats the difference between my time being up and me being done with my assignment? Pls go back and read my post well. Thanks.U don't get it still eef.. heaven is my home, I dont need work to get there, neither do I need grace...we are already in Zion, we are citizens of heaven. If I leave home now to say, market, now, do I need pray to be fit to go home or do I need grace to get to be fit for my home? |
Candour: Is Jesus a mere mortal like you, me or Paul the apostle? Do you realise he's a member of the Godhead? That Son of God is not ashamed to call me brethren.. ur problem here is u see Jesus as God only...he is a friend, a brother, a colleague...and as He is, so am I iN THIS WORLD, not when I get to heaven |
Candour: ]Was it Moses decision to die on the mountain? Yes or no?Issue here is, did death snatch him? This is someone God buried, a man who never saw hell I know we have different race but Did David DECIDE to die when he did? Who determines when your assignment on earth is finished? You or God?Ask Paul what he meant when he was writing Timothy... who decided he's finished his course The man knew he was done with his assignment is different from the man decided the end of the assignment. Who chose the assignment and who determined the duration? Paul or God?Who said he decided to end his assignment? Dats suicide na...don't deviate from target...point is, did death snatch him away? How does this answer whether Peter chose to be crucified upside down? I didn't even ask you if it was a lack of faith or a wrong decision that made Peter die a horrible death.I was pointing out that their mode of death is inconsequential...n dat death had no power over them...too bad u dnt see dat I know you believe so much that you're a god but please leave Christ the saviour out of it. He's the saviour of all those heroes of faith you mentioned and us also. He's not in our league. He's a member of the Godhead pls. We are talking about humans like the relative of Joyce mentioned in your post. From the bold, are u sure u r a Christian? If Jesus did it, itmeans we can do much more than he did..that's Christianity. 1John 4:17 kjv Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world As He IS, not WAS...my Jesus is alive, and He’s made me sit together with Him, meaning, am in the same league with Him...that's Christianity, Divinity in Human, He didn’t go to that cross to raise sissies or weaklings, He went to raise other Jesuses I'll appreciate if you can differentiate between both pls. It will help me answer you. That's the lowest I could go, if u dnt get the difference from that sentence, I can't be of further assistance I am bro but I don't know when that will be.Simple... but these folks i named knew...and when u done here on earth, God's gonna sent u ur return ticket. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David knew some little time before they died just like my grandma knew. Its called having a premonition and it helped them set their affairs in order. However, they didn't decide their deaths. When Jesus was gisting with His disciples in the last supper, He was having premonitions abi? When Jacob was rejecting Reuben etc he was having premonitions shey? Joshua too abi.? So, in ur theory now, younger folks like Jesus' age have premonitions? ![]() Jesus knew because that was the purpose he came for. What of Paul? Paul was in Ceaser Nero's prison when he wrote 2 Timothy. The apostle was in danger of death from the first day he opened his mouth to declare that Jesus was the son of God. Of course he had the sentence of death hanging over him but even at that, he couldn't tell when exactly his head would be taken off neither did he decide it.Was that the first time he was in jail? Why didn't he write he has finished his course we he was dragged to jail the first time? How come he didn't knw death was hanging over him the first time? |
Candour: You are the one missing the point. Did you read my post and the one I quoted at all?? The issue I have is Gombs saying all saints in the bible DECIDED their deaths. Its not about them knowing or sensing their impending deaths.Na wa o... didn't Jesus decide his death? Was he snatched by death? John 10:18 KJV No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. My grand ma who died recently at a very ripe old age acted in some very strange ways and said some strange things the few weeks before she died that leaves us in no doubt that she must have had a premonition of her death. People regularly have premonitions about death etc but I'm not concerned with a premonition or a pre knowledge of death. How carnal...was Jesus' death a premonition? What of David's? Paul nko? The issue here is anyone affirmiing all heroes of scriptute DECIDED their deaths. If you or him wish to expunge "decided their death" from the discussion, I'll rest my case here.Ruminate on the Scripture above |
nlMediator: There’s no such thing as everybody will die when they will die. If you see where it’s in the Bible, please point it to me. We Christians like the easy way out which includes accepting the devil’s nonsense so that we’ll not be ridiculed, instead of rejecting it in prayer and exercising our authority over evil powers. Countless number of people have been kept from dying after a sentence of death by the doctors or even evil forces because of the prayers of the children of God or by better medical intervention. Even in Africa and the developing world, many children die that would have lived if there was adequate hygiene and medical attention. When they die, we claim everybody will die some day in one way or another.. As though the kids that are living in the developed world live under a different dispensation from the African kids.Gbam...God bless you. |
alexleo: You are blessed my dear. How some christians fears death makes me wonder whether they still remember that this world is a temporary abode for us and death is inevitable. Whenever I'm sick I pray for healing and still pray God for grace to make heaven if my time here is up. If God heals me- Halleluyah, if he takes me to heaven- Halleluyah. The post above reeks of fear and sore unbelief and plenty doubt and very far off from faith!.. If u aint done with ur assignment here on earth, Why would God wanna take u away? Or are u saying u done with what he sent u to do? ![]() |
Candour: ]You mean Moses decided not to see the promised land and decided to die on the mountain @ 120?Hello candour, did death take moses... yes or no? Remember, Moses didn't even know how to die, God asked him to...did death take him or he gave up his life? Yes or no You mean David decided to die @ 70 when he could have stayed till 120?Candour na, we all have different race,.. Jesus lived for 33 years, y didn’t u ask why didn't he live up to 70? When ur ministry here on earth is done, u check out, ask Paul...and Jesus, and David, and Idahosa etc You mean Paul decided he to be beheaded before he turned 70?2 Tim 4v7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: [1Co 9:24] [Phi 3:14] Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 1Co 9:25 1Pe 5:4 [Jas 1:12] The man knew he was done with his assignment... You mean Peter decided to be hung upside down just like that?Hebrews 11 kjv 36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: Jer 20:2 37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 1Ki 21:13 2Ki 1:8 Mat 3:4 38 (Of whom the world was not worthy: ) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. You mean Simon the Canaanite decided to be cut in half?Candour o, did Jesus chose crucifixion? But death didn’t take Him, he said "father, into your hands I place my spirit"... he sanctioned his death, He gave His life up, it wasn't snatched from him by death...study and understand.. how they died is immaterial, what matters is they endorsed their deaths, death had no power over them... same as the new creation. My bro, none of these saints decided to die or how they died when they did. They only had a better acceptance of the inevitable than Christians of today. In fact all the apostles except John died violent deaths you won't wish on an enemy.Did they give up their lives or did death take them away? Being prepared for death is very different from deciding to die. All sensible human beings should be prepared for death whether they like it or not because its inevitable if the Lord tarries and Christians are expected to be better prepared according to the bible. Are u prepared for death now? Do u know when u gone check outta here? Heroes in the Bible knew...as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, Jesus, Paul etc |

alexleo: @OP, you are just talking too much here. Death is inevitable and when it comes nothing can stop it. Everyone's death comes in various ways- sickness, murder, accident, war, violent clashes etc. Even Joyce will still die when her time comes whether he curses and abadons God now or not. I don't care when I ll die but I pray God to make me fit for heaven whenever my time is up for me to leave this world. This world remains a temporary site for us all so we should always keep it at the back of our minds at all times. All this nonsense blames on God doesn't change anything. It doesn't even wake up the dead so its not neccessary.ALL the Heroes in the bible decided their deaths... they were prepared of it, and gave up their lives... death DID NOT take them... that is how it should be, not that trailer jam you or hammer fell from the roof and crushed the skull etc go study, Moses, Jesus, David, Joshua, Isaac, Jacob, Paul, the apostles... etc |

Answer- Not according to the gospel. There is no such thing like reincarnation. Isn’t it amazing that some people believe in what they cannot prove? We can prove Christianity, we can prove Jesus Christ, that’s why he gave us his name to live by. And whatever Jesus did before he died, his name continues to do. That’s why the Bibles says that ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today forever’ (Hebrews 13: . We can prove the living Christ, and that‘s wonderful. Acts 17:29, “[Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that his divine being are gold and silver or stone, an image made by human design and skill, in the past God overlook those ignorance but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, for he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice, by the man he has appointed. He has given prove of this to everyone, by raising him from the dead]”.The Bible says God had appointed the day he will judge the world by Jesus Christ, and that he has proved it that he is going to do it by Jesus Christ through raising him from the dead, by the resurrection from the dead, he has given men an indication that he is going to judge the word by Jesus Christ. Proving Jesus Christ to be that judge by the resurrection from the dead, that’s what the bible says, and you can’t believe this and believe anything else. He is going to judge the world, he says, ‘He has given prove of this to all men by raising him from the dead ’. Well, I was telling you something about reincarnation, there is no such thing like reincarnation. Reincarnation means taking up another body, it means that someone who has been born into this world, dies and comes back in another body; either in an animal, some mammal, some reptile, bird or some insect of something. It comes back in another body or even sometimes they think it can come back in another human body. Now for some people, they like to ask with the Bible in mind because Jesus Christ said concerning John the Baptist, this is Elijah. Well, he didn’t say that Elijah came in the body of John the Baptist, no; John the Baptist came in the power and the ministry of Elijah; that’s what he was saying. If Elijah were to come back, he wouldn’t be born John, John was born. Now the Bible talks about the witnesses who would show up in the last days to preach the gospel to the Jewish people where a hundred and forty-four thousand people are going to be elected as it were to come to God, and the Bible told us that these witnesses, prophets were going to be ministering in Israel. Many Bible scholars believe that this would likely be Elijah and one other, some think maybe Enoch, maybe several reasons but that’s beautiful because we were not told about their death. So if that’s going to be Elijah, beautiful because Elijah didn’t die, the Bible said he was caught up and taken to heaven, so if he just suddenly shows up as he did on the mount of transfiguration, when he showed up with Moses, why? He didn’t come with another body, he was himself, that’s not reincarnation. Reincarnation presupposes that one dies and then comes back in another body, has to be born to come back, but if you just show up without dying like Elijah did. That’s not reincarnation. You say what about Moses? Well, the Bible tells us that Moses died and God buried him. So Moses never went to hell. And so he is passed on into the new life with a transfigured body, not another body in terms of reincarnation. No; it’s a transfigured body, not another body in form of reincarnation. It’s the same body, but now through walls, he needs no doors, he just went through. But it was a physical body. So, the Bible doesn’t support the doctrine of reincarnation, that doctrine is a false doctrine. |
