Romance / Re: Would You Marry a Single Parent? by Gomer: 5:49pm On Nov 18, 2006
its so interesting reading all the replies especially when it kind of relates to you.
i'm a single mum! and proud of it
you want to marry a single mum? think, well, well
cos she's going to be expecting a lot from you
i'v been there before,i dont want any financial help but emotional, i needed a lot of love
and i love my child, and would love my child more than i would love another man- can he take that?
me, i have made up my mind, marriage, no way
people tell me no man will want to take you with your baggage,
true talk, i seen it happen several times
you just work hard for you and your child
no point looking up to another man for love, affection whatever
cos no matter what, that child comes first
like someone said, i dont come with no "baggage" but a "gemstone"

a stone's throw from heaven

there was no reason to awake
the morning was dark and cold
the sun was reluctant to rise
my heart was afraid to beat, afraid to hear a call
the call that got me waiting and might never come
i did not breathe, i did not cry, i was wise
still i receive no embrace, not even from sheol

my God, my God. we love each other, my God and i.
He is everywhere but not here when i need the embrace of a man
He cannot kiss me, He cannot love me the way a man could
my God, He created every good thing and he created an ache within me, an ache only this man can fill

i miss him, this man, so much; i wish i never knew him.
it has been five years and some have waited longer
i longed to be with him
but this day the walls of the bedroom echoed, "you are a stone's throw from heaven".
though the words did not lie, it understated the nearness of heaven.
heaven had come in my life time, here and now.
heaven's breath i felt whisper over my shoulder.
heaven called my name playfully "Sisi mi"
heaven pulled me closer to himself as we lay carelessly in bed.
heaven had come for me.

what is heaven and who is heaven?
this cold, dark morning, i dreamed a good dream
this dream did not run from me even when i awakened.
heaven remained.
when he laid his hand on my left breast, my heart could feel his touch.
heaven in my lifetime
he held me so close he seeped into my soul
the cherubs applauded our union
heaven in my lifetime
i had cursed myself, thinking he would never be back.
he is back
heaven in my lifetime

You talking of s.a?
what about home, here, niaja? go to lagos, abuja, go to this supermarkets owned by bature's and see how they treat thier workers, and even black customers- i know cos i have been treated like that too whn its my money thats making them rich angry this ones are not even white, they are red then when the real white man comes in, then what?
we own niaja, na we get this place, na small small, we are getting there but it needs us to stand up and want to impact positively in this country.
enough bitching and pointing fingers and blaming government
who the hell is the government? you and me!
change starts from the inside and comes out on the outside
you've got to believe in your country, if you dont then dont beef this place.
things are not perfect, which place is perfect?
in the countries where things are happening that you guys like to compare nigeria to, its people who make things happen, its people who increase the economy with thier creative thinking, its people who dont have two heads but one like you and me, human beings not animals- except if you dont fall into the category of "people" then you can say all the b******t you want to say or lipsrsealed
am proudly nigerian, all the way!

I think this topic should be removed from this forum
it is demolarizing and degrading
how can you even think of such?
i am boiling with rage
Politics / Re: Donald Duke Declares For Presidency November 7 At Inter. Conference Cent., Abuja by Gomer: 12:54pm On Nov 09, 2006
hey revolution, finally got into it but looks like its still under construction.
whatever
well i hope what you say is true about women going out to vote for him but i really dislike it when we capitalize on his 'handsomeness', really but well it cant be helped cos he is fine, i mean the broda is finnneee!
i wish people will stop thinking we supporting him cos of tinapa and obudu but will realise that he just capitalised on the resources he had on ground, you know, like he took the 2 fishes and loaf of bread and turned it into thousands of fishes and loaves of bread- he could have as well eaten the two fishes and loaf, belched and just look for other fishes to eat. IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT TINAPA AND OBUDU BUT HE HAD A DREAM, A GOAL, A MISSION AND HE DIDNT STOP THERE, HE PUT IT TO WORK. so can you imagine if he dreams that same dream with nigeria with all the problems we have and does something about it? all you naysayers be gone!

@ revolution, i just went to my mail now, its dukeforpresident.com not the one you just wrote
i never really took note of the little difference. thanks
you know, a lot of people want donald duke up there but you know not many people are going to go out to vote,
how many people vote anyway?
what do you think can be done about this?
Politics / Re: Donald Duke Declares For Presidency November 7 At Inter. Conference Cent., Abuja by Gomer: 10:47am On Nov 08, 2006
@ revolution, hi
why do i always have a problem accessing the duke's website?

its difficult for us to just trust someone cos we've been told one thing too many times and then seen something else
its going to be difficult for people to trust duke but its a risk we all have to take, if you really believe in nigeria, you'd give him a chance
he might have his bad sides, but who doesn't? lets look within
the man is a dreamer who didn't just stop at dreaming but put it into action
he didnt just talk the talk but he walked it!
i am not from cross-river but my eyes have seen and my heart hopes too that whats happening there can happen nationwide cos no matter where we run to, naija na our own, na our home.
but,
duke is the man almost everybody says, but are you going to go out to cast your vote on that day?
the campaign manager's got a lot of work to do and us too, that believe in the man!
Travel / Re: Third Mainland Bridge May Collapse Soon? It Vibrates by Gomer: 10:10am On Oct 12, 2006
The bar beach has a mind of its own and i must tell you, she is very, very angry.
it's as if she's mocking the construction workers there, -" you think you can stop me?"
my friends and i had to stop last night when we saw the waves from the road and actually walk over to the beach, upon all the high whatever they are building, the water was still pouring over.
it was a spectacular sight, we all stood there with our mouths open and it was amazing too
you could actually feel the anger of the sea as the waves kept coming close to us in full force.
i feel sorry for the houses and offices around and we kept asking the construction workers- is this going to work?
well, they said its the first stage,
some appeasing needs to be done to the goddess of the sea- i don't know- sounds fetish- but what else can be done again?
Politics / Re: Donald Duke For 2007 Presidency? by Gomer: 8:23pm On Sep 13, 2006
@bigb1, do you believe in crawling before walking, walking before running?
don't you think that a man who took nothing out of something in a small town can do that for nigeria?
i have my doubts though,
cross-river? how many local governments? how many people?
nigeria? 36 states, fct? how many local governments in nigeria? governors and so and so
a different ball game entirely
but you know
i just think if he could do what he did and is still doing in cross-river then he can do for nigeria too
he's a believer
he's a motivator
he's a man who dreams and puts all his effort to make that dream come true
he's a man you can look up too
we should give him a chance but the question is that with all this noise we are making, is our votes, if we do vote, going to make any sense?
