PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Left Me With N127bn Debt – Obiano by Goosethetruth(m): 10:19am On Jun 11, 2025
akelicious:
The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has revealed that contrary to the sanctimonious posturing of his predecessor, former governor Peter Obi,

the state was saddled with a huge domestic debt of N127bn when Obi left office in March 2014.

Speaking in the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia on Tuesday, Governor Obiano explained that his silence over the monstrous debt his predecessor sought to tie his hands with had been mainly because he did not want to allow his regime to be distracted at inception so that he would concentrate on the delivering his promise of good governance to Ndi Anambra.
According to him, the N127bn debt came mostly from the 101 road contracts that the former governor hurriedly awarded at the dying minutes of his regime without making any provision whatsoever for them in order to wrong-foot his administration from the very first day.
Governor Obiano further listed other disingenuous designs by his successor to make sure that his regime never really took off as the last minute employment of 6000 workers without provision for their welfare as well as the various hotels and independent power projects which he had no plans to complete.
He however revealed that he has quietly completed 51 out of the 101 roads that Obi saddled him with and assured Ndi Anambra that the remaining 50 would soon be completed too.
Governor Obiano’s revelation came on the heels of the growing inconsistencies in the figures being thrown up by former governor Obi which have left many discerning observers wondering just how much the former governor actually left behind.
They point at Obi’s sudden volte-face from his earlier declaration that he handed N75bn cash to his successor to declare at the flag off of the PDP campaign in Onitsha yesterday that the actual amount he left when he handed over was N48,626bn.
While delivering an address that has been mostly castigated by political analysts as suicidal, former governor Obi was caught on camera saying “when I was leaving this place, we left in savings N26bn. We set aside for important projects, N23,629bn. If you put the two together, it will come to N48, 626bn.”
The former governor’s contradictory accounts of the exact amount he bequeathed his successor leaves huge gaps in the emerging narrative of dubious accountability and an even more doubtful integrity.
This becomes more so in the light of the revelation that in former governor Obi’s so called N75bn handover are embedded all manner of moribund and toxic assets which the former governor cleverly reported as profitable investments in the handover note.
For instance, Obi’s reportage of the 16.5% equity stake in Emenite, a fibre cement roof and ceiling manufacturing company set up by the Premier of the old Eastern Region, Dr M.I. Okpara which was shared between the five states that made up the old Eastern Region as part of the trumpeted investments he had handed over to Obiano is nothing but pure fraud.
Observers also complained that it speaks volumes about Obi’s vaunted integrity to realize that the former governor also reported that he had invested the sum of N3.5bn in Interfact Beverages Limited when in reality what he invested was N1.4bn only. This followed Governor Obiano’s announcement that his administration would soon revise the discrepancy to reflect the actual equity stake of the state in the company.
Other dead bodies buried in Obi’s handover note include the N9bn involuntary investment in the Nigerian Independent Power Project, conceived in 2004 by the Obasanjo regime which the Federation Account was charged to fund on behalf of the 36 states of the federation. One wonders how this investment could have found its way into Obi’s phantom savings that he handed over to Obiano in cash.
Other components of Obi’s “famous” N75bn cash handover include the N4bn estimated value of the land resources of Anambra State on which the oil installations of Orient Petroleum Resources stands which Mr Obi “cleverly” converted into the state’s

Gowon keeps making all these statements about how the civil war was a difficult time for him, how he was fighting for the unity of Nigeria, and that the war was not about hatred for anyone

Who does this man think he is deceiving in this social media age? The man is in his 90's but still thinks we are back in the stone age when information was from propaganda? Lying through his teeth.

Gowon should tell Nigerians the truth, not continue with the same lie on which he justified killing millions of people for a non-existent unity

Gowon should tell Nigerians why he did nothing as thousands of Easterners were being killed in pogrom, all over Nigeria, particularly in the North.

Was it because Northerners were the ones doing the killing?

Gowon should tell Nigerians why he broke the agreement he signed with Ojukwu in Aburi, Ghana. An agreement that was supposed to restructure Nigeria, keep the country one and prevent war. Thereby causing war.

Is it because the agreement prevented Gowon and his fellow Northerners from getting political control of Nigeria?

Gowon should tell Nigerians that he was the one who declared war after Ojukwu declared Biafra, and that he waged this war not primarily because of the unity of Nigeria.

But because of oil. Had the oil been in the North, it would have been Gowon who would have declared Arewa Republic long before Ojukwu declared Biafra. The only difference is there would have been no war as many would have been happy to see them go with their oil.

Gowon should stop these lies he keeps spewing about the war he caused. The war was not about Nigeria's unity, it was about the political and economic control of Nigeria by the North
Lol...😁😁😁

On your job as usual playing the victim and twisting history of the civil war.

Actions beget reactions.
The precursor of the Nigeria Biafra civil war was the bloody and one sided murderous IBO coup of January 15th 1966 which was carried out by acolytes of Nnamdi Azikiwe's NCNC party in the Nigeria Army.
This military wing of the NCNC party had its point heads in Majors Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu who recruited and misled other rogue elements in the Nigeria army to kill the political and military leaders of all other regions except their own.
The aim az usual with the Ibo was domination and ultimate Ibo supremacy.

This January 15th 1966 coup was the genesis of the Nigeria civil war and the deaths thereafter. Any other causes of this war are secondary and not as relevant as the main issue which was the tribal fueled Ibo coup of January 15th.

I repeat no amount of spin or double speak exonerates the fact that you condemned the abject and calamitous 8 years of Peter Obi as governor of Anambra State. You opened this thread in 2017 condemning Obi's failure as a governor. So what has changed in 2025 that qualifies Obi to be president of Nigeria except your blatant TRIBALISM?
Obi granted an interview on ARISE TV just a few days ago where his void and emptiness in all ramifications was glaringly exposed once again. All questions thrown at his were deflected by his emptiness.

Finally I find it grossly insulting and condescending that you feel that 200 thousand Naira is my problem which is just £100 where I live but then it is a common trait of the typical Ibo to think you can buy every person's conscience with money! Money!! And more money!!!

Keep to the specifics of the ARISE TV interview with Oseni Rufai or better still rewatch it to refresh your memory which obviously fails very quickly because I remember you opened a thread on this same Nairaland.com lambasting the dire and abject performance of the same Obi as governor of Anambra state for 8 years.

Back to the issue on hand. Obi in that abject interview categorically ststed that he has ONLY ONE house in Onitsha and that if the authorities see any other house in his name anywhere in the world it should be confisticated.

That house in London was from the proceeds of money laundering for General Sani Abacha when Obi was in charge of Tin can Island sea port in the 90's. You saw him bragging in that video that he paid cash for the house.

This was the same way they found over 250 million cash which was Anambra state money he was taking to Lagos when he was Governor.

The same way he laundered Anambra money and used it to build shopping malls in Port Harcourt and Abuja. A reasonable person would have at least built one of those malls in Anambra state so that the people of the state could at least benefit from their stolen money. The name of the mall is next cash and carry in case you are not aware!

Obi should stop pretending to be a saint. He is as corrupt and crooked as any other politician in this country!
PoliticsRe: Obidents Refused To Post Peter Obi's Interview With Arisetv by Goosethetruth(m): 7:43pm On Jun 10, 2025
That interview with ARISE TV was cringe worthy . Even Peter Obi's acolyte Rufai Oseni was embarrassed at the infantile answers coming out of the mouth of a person that wants to be president of Nigeria.

Anyone who watched that dreadful performance by Obi knows that the guy is completely empty and has nought to offer.

That interview was meant to help launder Peter Obi's image and bolster his chances against 2027. It ended up exposing Obi as a political charlatan. The interview was a complete train wreck!

And so what if obi has multiple houses
So why is he lying that he only has one house in Onitsha and that if they find any other house in his name the authorities should seize it.

Obi tells so many lies that he forgets he has told them in the past. That London house he was boasting that he paid cash for it was probably proceeds from when he was laundering money for Sani Abacha while in charge of Tin can Island sea port.

The Delta state governor Sherrif Oborevwori is correct. As the Chief security officer he cannot allow organised criminal elements to cross the Niger river into his state to perpetrate crime and turn a blind eye to it.
The governor should bring the full weight of the law to bear on a group of people whose every source of wealth is questionable before the completely pollute Asaba with their criminality.

There have been many prominent and vocal obidient members of the IBO stock who have since dumped the party and moved else where. All of them decried Obi's ineffectual and lack of leadership skills as to why they dumped the LP and its rabid online obidient movement.

At no time has the mob gone after these ibo defectors but when a Yoruba or non ibo member of the obidient camp decides on his own to dump the party and movement like AkinTollgate did citing the toxicity and alienating provocative and unguided utterances of a prominent section of the obidient camp all hell was let loose on him.

Note that Akin neve condemned Obi's ineffectual and dearth of leadership skills that was used by ibo defectors. Akin never insulted their messiah but rather called the movement out for its constant attacks on other ethnicities but he is being dragged, quatered and burnt on the stake by ibo obidients

The only thing I can get from all this is that as a non IBO , you are only tolerated as long as you continue foolishly supporting their tribal candidate and opposing every other political figure in the land most especially those from within your own ethnicity.

The Obidient movement as I always maintained was formed by the exorcised demons of IPOB who latched onto the Obi presidential campaign following demoralization over their Biafra agitation due to their leader being incarcerated.

They never liked you and once you dump their toxic movement you will be treated as an apostate and all hell let loose.

This is what communists refer to as "useful idiots" and it simply translates to those so easily swayed by communist propaganda that they will do every dirty works to ensure the communist revolution succeeds. But after the succesful revolution, the useful idiots are the first to be rounded up and shot because the communists know that when their true agenda begins to unravel which is always to enthrone a racial or ethnic hegemony, the useful idiots will be the ones to rebel against it.

Its from there that we get to see how every communist revolution must have a purge and that purge isn't limited to those the communists had already penciled down for elimination but those within the revolution who were so easily swayed by some nonesene equality bullshit .
Personally I have no pity to spare for anyone who with his eyes wide open walks into a toxic and tribalistic, supremacist agenda.
I have no RIP to spare for any South Westerner who ignorantly allows himself/herself to suffer the "Victor Banjo" treatment.

Anyone who ignorantly claims to be "woke" and aligns himself/herself into a supremacist tribal agenda will always learn a nasty lesson the hard way.

PoliticsRe: How Orizu Paved The Way For Ironsi To Become Head Of State by Goosethetruth(m): 5:17am On May 31, 2025
DomPerignon:
According to Nigeria’s former President Alhaji Shehu Shagari in his famous book Beckoned to serve, said when the Head of Government Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was abducted and later killed, the Nigerian constitution provides that the Deputy Prime Minister, who was then Alhaji Zanna Bukar Diprachima was supposed to takeover as the New leader of Nigeria.

But when Shagari and Co learnt that the First indigenous General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Armed Forces ,Major General Aguiyi Ironsi has escaped and was able to hijack the coup,Shagari in company of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa’s aides went to him to discuss the transfer of power to the Deputy Prime Minister Alhaji Zanna Bukar Diprachima.

As they enter where Ironsi is hiding , probably Nigeria’s Police Headquarters ,they met Nigeria’s Senate President Dr Nwafor Orizu with General JTU Aguiyi Ironsi.

According to the rules, Dr Nwafor Orizu was empowered by Nigerian laws to invite the Deputy Prime Minister to form and Head the new Government.

Murtala Coup: 45 years after(Nigeria’s first bloodless)

But surprisingly ,the senate President Dr Nwafor Orizu told Alhaji Shehu Shagari and some survivors of the coup that they should go back home and when any issue came up with regards to the formation of New Government they will ask them to come back.

Former President Shehu Shagari and the rest went out, after a while they heard Dr Nwafor Orizu over Radio Nigeria making some remarks about the mutiny where he finally invited the General Officer Commanding the Nigerian Armed Forces ,Major General Johnson Thomas Umunakwe Aguiyi Ironsi to make some remarks ,in which he later announced himself as the New Head of State of Nigeria.

Chief Richard Akinjide, a former Attorney General and Justic Minister confirned Shagari's narratives of events in his own book as well. Akinjide narrated that The G.O.C , General Aguiyi Ironsi, said he wanted to see all the cabinet ministers.

According to Akinjide: “And so we assembled at the cabinet office. Well, I have read in many books saying that we handed over to the military. We did not hand- over. Ironsi told us that ‘you either hand over as gentlemen or you hand-over by force’. These were his words. Is that voluntary handover?

So we did not handover. We wanted the Acting Prime Minister to be in place but Ironsi forced us, and I use the word force advisedly, to handover to him. He was controlling the soldiers.

The Acting President, Nwafor Orizu, “who did not co-operate with us cooperated with the GOC. Dr Orizu and the GOC prepared speeches which Nwafor Orizu broadcast, handing over the government of the country to the army. I hereby state categorically as a member of that cabinet that we did not handover voluntarily. It was a coup.”

Below is from the speech delivered Chief Richard Akinjide, SAN, at the public presentation of the first edition of the book “Fellow Countrymen – the story of Coup D’etats in Nigeria,” by Richard Akinnola on June 12, 2000):

Talking of the first coup, when Balewa got missing, we knew Okotie-Eboh had been killed, we knew Samuel Akintola had been killed. We the members of the Balewa cabinet started meeting. But how can we have a cabinet meeting without the Prime Minister acting or the Prime Minister presiding. So, unanimously, we nominated acting Prime Minister amongst us and we continued holding our meetings.

Then we got a message that we should all assemble at the Cabinet office. All the Ministers were requested by the G.O.C. of the Nigerian Army, General Aguiyi Ironsi to assemble. What was amazing at that time was that Ironsi was going all over Lagos unarmed.

We assembled there, having nominated Zana Diphcharima as our acting prime minister in the absence of the Prime Minister, whose where about we didn’t know. We approached the acting President, Nwafor Orizu to swear him in because he could not legitimately act as the Prime Minister except he was sworn in. Nwafor Orizu refused. He said he needed to contact Zik who was then in West Indies.

Under the Law, that is, the interpretation Act, as acting President, Nwafor Orizu had all the powers of the President.

The G.O.C said he wanted to see all the cabinet ministers. And so we assembled at the cabinet office. Well, I have read in many books saying that we handed over to the military. We did not hand- over. Ironsi told us that “you either hand over as gentlemen or you hand-over by force”. These were his words. Is that voluntary handover? So we did not handover. We wanted the Acting Prime Minister to be in place but Ironsi forced us, and I use the word force advisedly, to handover to him. He was controlling the soldiers.

The acting President, Nwafor Orizu, who did not co-operate with us cooperated with the GOC. Dr Orizu and the GOC prepared speeches which Nwafor Orizu broadcast, handing over the government of the country to the army. I hereby state categorically as a member of that cabinet that we did not handover voluntarily. It was a coup.

From both Shehu Shagari and Chief Akinjide's account we can easily conclude that no effort was made to locate the then missing PM and that both Ironsi and Orizu had first hand knowledge that the PM was dead.

Orizu who was acting as President of Parliament in Zik's absence and who was of the NCNC - a junior party in the coalition government led by the NPC bluntly refused to accede to the demands by NPC MPs to swear in the deputy PM but instead without any consultation and consensus with their senior partners in the NPC went on air to introduce Ironsi as the new defacto HoS.

Orizu not only gave full tacit support to Ironsi seizing power but went as far as bringing an abrupt end to our democracy.

As I have said here severally, the Jan 15 coup was an Ibo coup orchestrated by Ibo politicians led by Zik for the sole purpose to halt the inevitable secccesion of the ethnic minorities in the old Eastern region.

As for Zik, when he was interviewed in far away Haiti by the BBC on what his reaction to a military take over , Zik was in full support.

Zik , in that interview , stated with full confidence that in the absence of the PM the military should take over. Zik spoke like somome who knew already that the PM was dead . At that time of Zik granting that interview and Ironsi declaring himself HoS after Orizu "handed over " to him, the PM was presumed missing.
Keep up the good work of posting historical truth.
When they failed to win at the ballot, they resorted to their military wing to snatch power through the barrel of the gun.
Azikiwe was in the know about the January 15th 1966 coup which was why he perpetually hid behind medical leave in the Caribbeans while his boys Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu carried out the supremacist masterplan.

Below is a video of the unity beggar pleading to be allowed to return to Nigeria.

gidgiddy:
Your only future is to be a unity begger, forever crying on every Biafran related thread so as to protect your useless 'one Nigeria'
Tell your representatives, senators, governor's,ministers and above all the widow of Eze Gburugburu Bianca Onoh to withdraw from the Nigeria government and start a process of insertion of referendum and secession in the constitution if you are really serious about Biafra and not just empty lip service and victim playing.

By the way you may like to listen to your progenitor:THE TRUE UNITY BEGGAR. Who waged a war of treason against Nigeria for 30 months. Sacrificed and slaughtered millions of his own people to boost his senseless ego. Fled to Ivory Coast where he frolicked with different women of all shapes and sizes then in 1982 returned the same Nigeria shamelessly to contest for a lowly senatorial seat and lost woefully by over 12,000 votes to an unpopular and unknown candidate.
