If I'm correct Xiaomi doesn't really have a lot of mtk devices. Besides, this is one of the selling point of the phone.. I was fortunate enough to watch the phone launch in India as well as the attend the launch here in Nigeria.. I think they are passionate about using this particular SoC. And I know mtk helio series (p60 for example is a performer) are really good.. honestly I have no problem having a mtk device right now (I also know how terrible the mtk were back in the days). Meanwhile I play a lot of pubg so I'm more or less interested only it's pubg performance plus having four camera sensors is fancy

There's nothing new under the sun. Wetin u dey do now don happen here before, the days of the Redmi note 2,then the Redmi note 4 mtk versus snapdragon, even the Redmi pro. Get what you want but Xiaomi will be the first to drop support for their mtk devices. Yes, even older snapdragon devices will likely get better support, quicker miui updates and security patches than the Redmi note 8 pro. No need to drag much, buy if you like it, you might just be lucky grin

Ooo, that's nice, haven't come across one, maybe because I haven't used gcam on a phone with ultra wide.

You need a computer to flash TWRP, from then you can flash custom roms without needing a pc.

greetings everyone..gcam on my K20 pro global rom ..I was playing with the settings this evening when I got to the camera the highest resolution for back camera is 12mp and for from is 5mp ... isn't the back supposed to be 48mp and the front 20mp?

Use it like that, gcam is a camera port from Google Pixels, so there's no way you'll see a 48MP mode or even an ultra wide mode since those are not available on Google Pixels. Meanwhile, the 48MP is actually a 12MP in real life, and Mega pixels is not what determines a great camera.

That's not an upgrade, an upgrade is when you buy a Redmi note 7 at least.

This is actually a new gcam Boss Gptech introduced to me and it's way better than the former, I don't know which other Gcam is there for me to try.

For note 7, night sight crashes, surprisingly it works well with the Mi 8 lite. You should look for a config file other than the one uploaded for note 7 on the site, might just work
