all,
Just been looking at charts and all I am seeing is lower highs. Quite scary if you ask me. Implication to me is that the June-July bearish season is what we are witnessing now. If you don't have stocks with strong fundamentals I suggest you dump and move on. I could be wrong but still,

Could anyone confirm if Champion Breweries Plc is on TS ? Thanks

Yeap. It is on TS and has been for more than a year now. If you get any info abeg let me in on it. I was searching for the stock last year but about a month and half ago my brokers jobber gets in touch that he has about 2million units for sale. Last year I would have snapped it up without asking questions but having seen them be on TS for more than a year now, I am a bit skeptical. Plus everybody at UBA registrars dey form deaf and dumb for this one. If you get info abeg mail me at daloot_y2k at yahoo.com, I go really appreciate am.

All the cries about the bears cry . The thing about this forum is practising what we all learn here. I remember a chart Iom a pasted some time ago about a plot that showed the phases in the stock market. Greed (bull) fear (bears) hope(false bull) and fear again (final onslaught of the bears). Taking out profit is very key as advised by FOF2 if you know you can't trust yourself to do that then stick to pure fundamentals (speculation of a stock not allowed here at all) as advocated by topgun and Wanaj0. Having said that I grabbed my loot from JOHNHOLT over last week. But the thing no wan look down. Re-investing when a stock has reached your target for CICOers is very important. Still I dey bleed badly from the alphabets e never reach my buy price sha (N5 avg) but the stock no wan doj(i). Oya over to u my honourable topgun. Any way of predicting when stock go doj(i), The annoying thing is that I placed a sell order when I smell resistance at N7.60 but that will be the story for another day when we bring up brokers matter. BETAGLAS anyone. One of the last few with forward PE below 20 for the NSE. Any substantial backing in the 1 for 4 rumors. I also have received "concrete" information that the Interswitch PP has been 'fixed' for Dec 08.

FOF2 why BOCGAS   the stock has a forward PE of about 45. If you get any ouruji let your peeps know abeg

costain - construction
Nigeria ropes - ropes
ABB - electricals
Alumaco - Aluminuim products (windows doors etc)

all key industries in home building,

Seems to me these guy is aquiring all that has to do with building construction. So I dey find shares for nigerian tiles and empire carpets  grin grin grin wink. But seriously seem this Kareem guy is seriously repostioning for the building industry so. Let us at least put some constructive use to this our dear thread. I am looking at the paints that is chemical sector but it seems that some peeps have already beat me to it (IPWA and BERGER). Wanaj0 and aktopgun I go leave una to look into this one more closely. You guys seem to have more on the behind the scenes glimpse. I can bet there will be more acquisitions to come especially with industries that have to do with building construction. Could this have something to do with the expected new policy from the FG on housing policy hmmmm,

Once upon a time in this thread. All we had was harmony and one common goal and that was to 'hammer'. Contributions were pouring in thick and fast and all were very useful. It was from this thread that I first learnt of Union diagnostics and Chams PP. The hammer from there I wan use buy house for banana island. You can imagine how annoying it is to rush home in this lagos traffic, log on see that you have about 5 pgs of reading to do only to find out that it is some kid bickering about something that is non existent. I usually wait to meet a person before I judge the person but this is the 1st time I must say that there are some people here I never want to meet in person based on their personality from their post. If you can quarrel with someone over something that is written then what will you do when something is said or done in your face. Make I leak one secert to una. Nobody go fit spoil wetin we don put hand build together. For my office the other day I overheard some ladies saying that they are buying BETAGLAS because it was strongly recommended on nairaland. Moreover with my upcoming JOHNHOLT hammer (yes this time I no AGLEVENTIS myself) e go hard before somebody make me vex (the units wey I buy plenty no be small for that kind iliquid stock). To all the ol peeps abeg make we carry on as we dey jeje. New friends are welcome but I am with Roughcut on the response to provocative posts. Mr Risky I hope say u don parachute off the LEVENTIS plane before now if not na sweat you go dey sweat for cold by now.

@ Pumping, Easimoni Aktopgun and wanaj0

Has any of you confirmed the no of outstanding shares for LONGMAN. me I no understand who dey try play tricks with this one.

For all wey dey into the alphabets scene, very funny to see people panicking for 3 days of losses. Ever heard about the theory of higher highs and higher lows. If ABC drop below N4.80 then I go begin panic but if not then when my JOHNHOLT loot enter I go upload more of the alphabets. I rather have a stock wey dey gain consistently then starts losing. I believe say we still dey the weak state of the bulls. Moreover check history alphabets dey peak late April unlike most other stocks wey dey peak late feb/early march. I rather own the alphabets than OCEANIC or UBA FOR NOW

Keep the peace my brothers and sisters. I dey type this because I wan hammer and nothing else and I can bet so does everyother person who has ever posted on this thread.

Investment / Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by grabdaloot(m): 7:27pm On Mar 14, 2008
I really don't know if this is a market correction or the bears are gradually creeping in. the sacry thing is that most of the charts I have looked at show lower lows apart from NWICABLE and BIGTREAT (which showed a lower high) I'll have to wait on stocks that have rebounded to see their next high then I can know for certain which direction the market is heading. (Last year I was caught pant down with LIVESTOCK and had to wait Thank GOD till mid Feb to dispose.

@ Pumping, roughcut, easimoni, windy, aktopgun, FOF2,yodi and anyone I might have missed out who might have the info I need. Pleae what is your conservative estimate of the full year PAT for LONGMAN, UPL based on their exponential earnings pattern and also that of BETAGLASS.

I think that the shift in YE of the Banks is having an adverse effect on the market. so the bears might arrive earlier this year.
BTW for next year's bull market ( I hope it comes) I no go buy any stock we be like say e get fundamentals check out the stocks that have returned >300% this year : AFPRINT, LIVESTOCK, ALUMACO, FIRSTALUM (the Rio tinto gist might be at work here as well as the ALSCON tori), JOHNHOLT need I say more

For those of una wey like insurance coys I'll say this once. If you are patient buy AIICO by this time next year AIICO will be at least N20 I'll take anybody on that one. They got some sweet deals just hope that no drastic claim would wipe out the profits. Me I de wait to see if e go drop to the N4-N5 before I pose for the premptive strike. I dey always aim to grab da loot wink grin grin

aktopgun,
nice of you to continue to shine your candles but one thing I noticed from the NIWICABLE chart. the pattern is a double top which is also not a good sign in TA and also the chart exhibited a bearish trend as it formed the pattern of a lower high. we'll have to wait and see whether it will be a lower low. If not then pray for it to be a converging triangle (AGLEVENT and UTC before the break out early his year). What are your thoughts
Investment / Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by grabdaloot(m): 9:12pm On Mar 12, 2008

@sash supo
Believe the closing price was N18.9 with 117 deals you can check www.nsepro.com or even www.fsdhsecurities.com This one made me really believe that some forces is at work behind this share. I have a couple of peeps at work whom I bought together with and they all could not sell at any price above N18 (them no greedy like me so they set the prev close at the sell price limit me I calculate 5% give N18.9) when I don call the broker tire the thing no I go I come check NSE site say make e sell for N17.10) once again over smart don wound this monkey. I no understand how I dey dull like this these days

Peeps check out the ABC webiste below (especially the tourisim tab)
http://www.abctransport.com/ .
Even as a renowed pessimist, I was very impressed. Plus wendy e bi like say your gist for 1 for 2 get small backing. I mentioned of the board meeting last 2 weeks well it seems it is one of the things that was discussed. What I just don't get about this NSE why would a company looking to raise funds from the capital market give a bonus (zenith, Afribank. PHB and now ABC) Anyway we dey wait dem sha. Sold my paltry units of AGLEVENT today (sigh) I fit talk say this one dey go N30. Something fishy about this one to. Through out trading today I was on phone with my broker and he couldn't sell at the price of N18.9 which I gave. Just about 12.15pm I checked the NSE site for the current price hissed when I say it was N17.10 and gave the go ahead to sell. I wasn't even sure he'd be able to sell. You can imagine my shock when I say the closing prices and saw it closed at N18.9!!! A 5% gain whereas I sold at the 5% low of the day. Once more I don maga. But for say most of my loot no dey camped there anymore I for vex well well. Some folks the push this one. Ebi like say e fit see N40 sef (no quote me here) the volumes 5m+ the first time in the history of the stock!!

mshoo,
Thanks for the link to the CHAMPION write up but I had already seen it. Still doesn't tell me why UBA registrar is sitting on the rights issue.

For the guy wey get CHAMS for sale just be careful my brother I had tried to buy from the PA of the MD and was told no show even though I had offered N5 so unless one of the issuing houses wharehoused the share then I don't see how it can be for sale  for N4.00. Easi you fit try your luck and did I add caveat emptor wink

Greentree,
This place no be for jokers who told you interswitch is out. Not planning to come out until CHAMS is listed and to they best of my knowledge it might be an IPO but I am not sure of that but I do know that interswtich never show face yet. If it does it will probably be closed by 12.00 noon on the day it opens. If you get loot and don't know what to buy might be handy to keep it for interswitch PP.

@ Risky
I dey feel you for this AGLEVENT loot  (sigh). Oversmart don wound this monkey bad. me I sell for 8.5 dey feel like sharpiro see na e don double and fit quadruple because triple dey assured.

Which one be say I dey type message when e reach time to post I get reply say 14 new replies have been posted. I hope they are all constructive sha I go vex if I read them come see say na still bickering dey go on

@ Aktopgun,
Your candles were spot on I must say Kudos to you.

@ all
once more info on CHAMPION I no mind pay for what I want to know. The question is why is UBA registrars taking for ever to conclude the rights issue secondly why has none of the share holders received an offer of rights issue? I smell a rat but I like the smell of this rat. Anybody wey dey buy anything for this market get plenty liver. I been wan wait till July but something tells me that the dip I am expecting wouldn't come this year.
Investment / Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by grabdaloot(m): 9:53pm On Mar 09, 2008
Abeg anybody with any information on CHAMPION breweries please share. It went on technical suspension last year for a rights issue and has since then been on TS I don't understand that one. I don try my peeps for UBA registrars but everybody I talk to just dey form deaf mute for me. If you have any information please share. I know BECKS germany acquired them and they embarked on a restructring hence the rights issue but for 1 year? Never seen that one before. I have actually seen a bottle of BECKS beer and at the back was written brewed under supervision of BECKS at champion breweries uyo akwa ibom state nigeria. @ invisible

The ATM/online payment buisness in Nigeria has been Hijacked by a trinity of consortia all with the same people on their board. Namely
Interswitch, Chams and JKK (joint komputer kompany) JKK handles all the hardware namely ATM machines I no know how NCR come into play. They are all coming to the public via PP Chams has been concluded next is interswitch followed by JKK. As per NSL I always tot that mean national sports lottery meant to raise funds to develop sports in the country I no know when they begin install ATM machines anyway i go double check to make sure.

@ all the bickering folks.

We don dey exist peacfully for this place without drama. Abeg we no need any drama if you have any issues PLEASE keep it bottled up or esle don't sign in to the forum. I believe that will be a lot easier. We all check this thread for only one reason and that is cause we want to make money if you are checking this page cos you want cause katakata the possibly you hard disk will crash in the very near future.

@ all
Please can someone please confirm the actual number of shares owned by LONGMAN NSE is still carrying 800m+ on their website and I don't think they can be that incompetent for over 2 months. I tried calling first registrars at first they were being helpful then all of a sudden all I got was hostility and rudeness. Made me smell a rat abi they wan give 5 for 1 cos if you multiply their present no of outstanding shares in wey everybody know by 5 then you will get what NSE is carrying on their site.

rasputinn:

For me,a very good time will be when it drops to around 2 naira, then I go gather liver do a CISI(cash in,stay in)

Okay so every firm has its ups and downs but at least they had a reasonable buisness plan in the first place before mismanagement, economic strain, govt policies etc drove them into making losses right. But look at TRANSCORP. What plan did they have? Buy this and that with the aid of the govt and expect to wave a wand and everything falls in place. I didn't like the idea behind TRANSCORP and still don't. So lets us speculate on how they can make money. NITEL? who ever they'd get would be on the look out for their own pockets and with all the mess NITEL is in already that will probably be a tough one to call. so that leaves the Oil block right? In the prospectus for the PO there was no mention of oil blocks. The MD then came out to say that only one of the blocks will have its revenue to the group. I was never able to understand that one. So what if all the revenue from all their blocks would go to the coporation. How would they finance the development of the oil blocks. They lack the technology, expertise or experience. Of course these things are all available if you have the money. Now the question you should ask your self and answer honestly is 'if you own a bank would you approve giving money to TRANSCORP for the development of an oil block?' Yes I thought so too so all you'd be left with is to farm out the block. For a corporation the size and 'calibre' of TRANSCORP i don't think the money from the fram out would filter past their board talk less of to the shareholders. So you are left with the hilton. In the short history of TRANSCORP, the hilton has now been convinced to buy more expensive chicken and livestock from a certain farm in OTA, hmmmm I wonder how many more things they have been convinced to do that we don't know about.
Bottom line if you must put money there then let it be something you are prepared to lose not one you hope will bring you the ha(u)mmer!!

If Leventis does not issue a bonus, you will regret holding the stock until FY result is announced.

The stock cannot add another 20 trading days at 5%.

When profit takers are ready, they won't care about what happened last year.

@ pumping
Let me start by saying I am in no way swearing that I am right. But its just that this NSE has by far defied all. I can assure one thing though the profit takers are already in full swing. People who bought at the N6-N8 range are selling off. Historically, AGLEVENT trades about 400,000 units for an average of 20 deals per day but check out the volumes recently always close to 2,000,000 with over 50 deals per session. This leads me to believe that the profit takers are already in action. One thing I just can't get is why the stock is still so scare. We are watching it sha.

@ Aktopgun
I was not in anyway trying to diss you. Maybe I am guilty of writing how I talk but it just struck me that if another person reads it he/she might take offence. I hope I have not offended you in anyway. If you took offense then please accept my apology. I am just so pissed at my self for feeling that I have a good handle on the market. sold off my AGLEVENT when it stagnated at N8.5 tried to buy at N11 but could only get a fraction and till date I am still trying. I don warn una about this AGLEVENT but una no wan hear. Okay make I add my own put but first make I talk CAVEAT EMPTY

Aktopgun, I respect your candles well. If u recall I strongly believed in technical analyses (have written about RSI and co extensively) but RSI don cost me about 8 million for VONO and LIVESTOCK and that is because I sold when they approached the 80 line. But these stocks were at an RSI of 100 for almost 2 weeks. I spoke to my inside source and he said that the reason AGLEVENT opened at 16.01 was that someone gave his broker a sell order of above 16 today for about 340000 units. Imediately that transaction was concluded the stock shot up to the max of 16.47 and stayed there through out today Check FSDH you would see that the avg price for the day was 16.46 so do the math youself. Another thing is that JOHNHOLT is following this one closely and it is in turn following CHELLARAM back to back (I hope) SCOA no dey slack to. The long and short of all this opata wey I dey write na say for this market (bull) Tech analyses no get head. Finally check history last year AGLEVENT did 23 straight days of maximum gain. This year na just 12 we dey count so far and I can bet you it will do 32. I don try some correlations to arrive at that figure. Achika abeg if you wan sell tell me you broker make e cross am for me. Me I dey find the thing but no way na only cross deals dem dey trade.

Once more make I talk say I EMPTY the CAVITY for this one

Just the thought that you could be older than my Dad makes me shudder and my Papa don work retire since.

BTW
Latest information on The AlphaBets Company (for those that were in on the discussion last week) I had earlier said that the board would sit this week that we are in and the last gist emanating from there is that there will be a bonus issue this year. Secondly Fidelity Bank is set on increasing their stake and have since started doing that so expect to see increasing volumes on a daily basis. Lastly the PO issue was still left undecided till the next meeting before the AGM but it is more likely that it will happen.

As with all quotes these days here I have to empty the cavity.
