B2mario:Abia state guy, Shorrup. Ignore the false votes for your mentor, incumbent governor Okorocha for his son-in-law during the guber election. Having Uche Nwosu succeed gov Rochas Okorocha is like having Okorocha continue as Imo state governor for a 3rd term. Develop more sense. |
But I don’t get the gist: power plants or power lines? Alaoji is a 330kv power station supplied by power plants elsewhere. Ihiala to Owerri, or to Orlu, is also a power line, not a power plant. Both power lines depend on electricity supply from existing power plants in Nigeria. If Mbakwe’s Electricity POWER PLANT in central location Amaraku, can now be built anew to make Imo state less dependent on national power plants, that would be great. |
sanctity454:Good things — Mbakwe era-like development things - are beginning to come to Imo state. Since 2007, Imo has had governors like Ohakim who built Boulevard like YarAdu road in Owerri and another Boulevard in his village, as achievement, and Okorocha who was telling anyone who cared to listen that he was building his dear state capital city, Owerri, to international standard. Ohakim and Okorocha never knew that no modern town without public water supply and adequate supply of electricity, deserves the name, city. It’s hard to understand how those two governors believed that once they built on the state capital, they developed Imo state. |
post=91314912:Shame as this guy does not know that the difference between PDP and APC is only in name. Politicians migrate from PDP to APC and vice versa. |
Racoon:Pity those Nigerians who believe that one day Boko Haram insurgency shall end. It can only end with dissolution of Nigeria. |
Racoon:Boko Haram says it’s fighting for a country to be governed with Islamic Sharia criminal laws. Boko Haram sponsors are in the 12 northern sharia states that adopted unconstitutional Islamic Sharia criminal laws. |
sanctity454:Only Owerri is Imo state for deluded, mentally deranged or foxy people. Those who created Imo as a state expected beautiful development infrastructures to also exist in Orlu and Okigwe areas to usher in private developers with beautiful edifices to showcase. Enough. Mentally deranged people still support all tertiary education institutions in Imo state to be in or nearest Owerri, public water supply system and boulevards only for Owerri. |
Federal government also needs to introduce residency status whereby a resident of a local government area must be registered in the local government registry and must not live in the bushes. This is how it’s done in normal countries. No half and half measures. |
majamajic:This method, it shows that Boko Haram shares the same objective with people governing Nigeria - the objective of a Nigeria to be governed with unconstitutional Islamic Sharia criminal justice system. |
B2mario:You now issue threats, monkey. |
Simplyleo:You are blind to the dirty political structure of Nigeria weighing down progress for the Igbo, and which makes Igbo ask for either political restructuring of Nigeria, or ask for Igbo President of Nigeria via rotation of President or Biafra. Continue to be the CLOWN and PARASITE you are. |
seankafor:You have to talk about Obowo if it’s your hometown. God helps those who help themselves. Provided you are not one of those who were fed fat with falsehood that state capital must be developed first by governors before any other place in a state. But Orlu and Okigwe are not on the same table with Obowo, you know that, of course. |
B2mario:You want to receive insults from me, the way others heap insults on you? Only a fool would say that I am not from Orlu. You Abia man, go home, Okorocha your mentor is no more in charge of any where in Imo state. Tell him to start placing his Constituency projects in Orlu zone if he is still representing the zone.. |
kuuljay:MURIC has already helped in ceding SW region to Fulani through Tinubu. We know who you work for. |
B2mario:In bold: the madness of demolishing and rebuilding in Owerri shall be stopped by people’s force soon, until urban roads of other Imo towns are asphalted.. So many urban roads in Owerri have been reconstructed up to three times in ten years, but most of the urban roads in Orlu have never seen asphalt for once. Enough of state capital madness in Imo state. There is more to the madness than love for state capital: governors milk Imo state dry as they showcase roads and drainage systems they built in Owerri, but can’t account for funds that should have gone into building urban roads and drainage systems in Orlu and Okigwe areas. |
ghettokid1:Don’t let enemies of development hear you . By way, this is Enugu city, not Enugu state. Do you have any other city worth the name in Enugu state? |
HeWrites:When did Alex Ekwueme’s Rockview Hotel become Imo state government house? Owerri man can’t build such a hotel outside Owerri. Nobody can point to any landed property in any town outside Owerri owned by Owerri person in Imo state. Owing pensioners is bad, but these are protesters by Owerri PDP. |
Duru1:Owerri has a modern and most durable public water supply system worth more than N50 billion, with huge underground water supply pipes in most of the local government areas in Owerri zone. Pipe borne water supply system does not exist anywhere in Orlu zone. People sink private water boreholes in Orlu zone and consume the deadly water. Orlu zone has been unfortunate for producing governors who are not educated enough to understand the importance of public water supply system for their people. First project of Emeka Ihedioha as governor was contract to reactivate Owerri regional surface water supply system. Owerri zone has the best underground drainage system in Nigeria. Floods have been destroying multi deck buildings in Orlu. The urban drainage project of Orlu started many years ago is not completed. Govs from Orlu zone dig deep pits here and there in Orlu town centre as half measures inside town to collect floods, instead of completing the gutter. Owerri roads are being expanded by governors, inland roads, bye pass roads, internal link roads that lead to rapid urban expansion of Owerri. Orlu urban roads are like in civil war era. Okorocha expanded four short roads that link to the road to his Ogboko hometown. Outside that, hardly any good roads link communities in Orlu zone. In Imo state, Owerri zone hosts all the universities and polytechnics that promote urban development. There is only School for the Mentally and Physically Handicapped in Orlu. Imo state Polytechnic is profited most by Owerri. The sort of governors that emerge from Orlu zone don’t understand the importance of public university in human and economic development of a place. So what did you mean by Orlu zone cornered the urban development projects in Imo state? |
B2mario:Ha ha ha. Was Rochas Okorocha asleep when he was building the flyovers and tunnels whereas houses in many parts of Orlu were being washed away by floods due to uncompleted flood control duct started during the administration of Amadi Ikwechegh? The floods from Orlu move down to Akokwa-Orlu road, usually cut the road in pieces frequently. How could a man elected as state governor be so vindictive in office, such that he even inflicted injuries to his place of birth as he thought he was undermining Orlu? The flyovers may never be utilized because the governor who built them used them as an offensive to a large majority of people in Imo state. Rest of the state was rotting away while he was building flyovers and tunnels and inland roads in Owerri as well as roofing Owerri streets. |
Shaaaaaaa. Is Nigeria no more a federation? What business has Abuja federal government got with Statutory Marriage in other states in Nigeria? |
SmartPolician:Flyovers are a mark of unplanned towns, except where used on fast moving roads for change of direction. But semi-literates in Owerri clamour for flyover in Owerri. They see flyover as mark of big city. They never got bothered by the fact that flood was eating away parts of their state in Orlu due to absence of common urban drainage gutters. Iberiberism. |
stephanie11:Long live Tony. The man who erects structures resembling university blocks in secondary schools all over the place. |
Igbochief001: Crude oil in the Niger Delta as well as Islam. |
How has it been possible for only this north (Sokoto and Kanem Bornu Caliphates) to stop the political restructuring clamoured for by rest of Nigeria? It’s because there are people like Bola Tinubu and Raji Fashola in the south - sympathizers with Sokoto Caliphate - that’s why restructuring of Nigeria’s political process has not come to be. |
Chibuzo15:It’s like you confuse Public university with private university. FYI, Public university is a university owned by government. All your foresightedness here is about: let Owerri retain all public universities in Imo state, let people of Orlu and rest of Imo state build their own private universities. When did Nigeria develop to the level of the Uk and the US, Mr foresight? Do you know that it takes more than 3 tines what it costs to graduate from a public university to graduate from a private university? Why would you wish people of the same state with you to suffer, while Owerri people enjoy all the dividends of democracy in Imo state? |
Yampotatocarrot:Uturu-Okigwe used to be the name for ages until Abia state was created. Uturu is very close to Okigwe. Okigwe reaps loads of the economic development benefits of location of the university at Uturu. Abia state university Uturu used to be called Imo state university Okigwe before Abia state was created and Uturu carved out from Okigwe for Abia state. |
Lostz:Tinubu could have easily become President of Nigeria if Nigeria was politically restructured with the recommendations of the 2014 Confab . No southern politician campaigned from 1999 to 2013 for political restructuring of Nigeria more than Tinubu did. Given the present skewed and lopsided political structure of Nigeria created by northern military dictators, no southern presidential candidate can win Nigeria’s presidential election unless the core north is not interested in ruling Nigeria. Now, Tinubu has lost political restructuring, has lost becoming president of Nigeria. He is now getting old. |
Amotolongbo:African. Well, Enyeama will accept the job. At least it gives him the opportunity to leave outside the hell of his home country. |
xynerise:Yes, Otele. |
Wow. Otele? My Igbo people here no go stop laughing over this name, Otele. |
asha80:He knew what you’ve just explained. Owerri develops and rapidly expands because of the universities and polytechnics in Owerri. Natives of Owerri sell a plot of land and become too rich overnight. If a student from Orlu spends N1000000 to complete a four year course in a tertiary education institution in Owerri, his counterpart from Owerri zone may spend half of that because of closeness to the institution. Some smart by half people from Owerri tell Orlu to build private universities to usher in development. Private universities are not subsidized by government. Thus private universities charge a lot higher fees than government university. Recently, a Prof from Owerri advised gov Uzodinma to open another university very close to Owerri by converting Imopoly Umuagwo to a university of Agriculture. Primitive greed in a group in Imo state has confined development in the state to only Owerri. |
Chibuzo15:Mr/Mrs Clever by Half, if PRIVATE UNIVERSITY is it for you to usher in development in an area, why then did Owerri/Mbaise people nearly start a CIVIL WAR each time former govs Udenwa, Ohakim and Okorocha talked about removing Imo state university from Owerri? Ok, relocate Imopoly, FUTO, IMSU, AIFCE, FERCOLAT from Owerri to Orlu, but establish PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES like Harvard, MIT, Afe Babalola, Convenant Uni, all in Owerri. If we do that, I bet you that before 10 years, Orlu shall become more modern and more urbanized than your Owerri home area. |
