I have seen GSDs with snout longer than that of mine and yet other parts of their body meet the breed standard. We really can't conclude until the dog is matured.

You are making a mistake. I used to think like you when I started and I've learnt bitter lesson.

Let me tell you the bad side of beating your dog.

1. He wouldn't really love you anymore. People fail to understand that you can only buy the physical body of a dog to be in your house but you can never buy his heart with money. If your dog has made up his mind to hate you, one day you raise up your hand, he will fight back. Apart from fighting back, he may not really care about you. Let someone be beating you he will be watching and smiling.

2. He will grow timid. Did you know that when you beat your dog, he will always fear that particular weapon you use. And anyone who carries that paticular weapon would win the dog over because he will be afraid and bow his head before them because he is afraid and suspects you sent them. Is that what you want?

3. He will no longer be your friend- I remember the testimony a friend gave me about his dog and his son. The son's lesson teacher was beating the son outside and the dog was passing by without leash or chain. The dog attacked the lesson teacher to save the boy. The dog knows the lesson teacher for 2 years and have never attacked so it was not coincidence. The dog loves the owner and his children that's why he went to defend the boy. The dog was a German Shepherd. Now tell me, if my friend beat that dog do you think the love will be there? Do you think the dog will do that for the boy? Think about it.

4. The dog will always want to escape. Forget that barking he is doing in the cage. If I open that cage and gate for him he will run. If he loves you he won't run. I've opened my gate wide.. And my dogs unleashed. They only barked and chased the goats on the street and came back inside. Do you think If I beat them, they won't cease that opportunity to run? When gate was opened? If I am sick my dog will come to me and sit with me. That is love a dog can give without you beating.

There are so many reasons I can't tell all. My friend says "who no go.. No know". Until you experience it, you won't understand. Until you experience a GSD or Rott ripping you apart when you try to beat her you won't know. Until you experience your rott follow a stranger happily you wont know. Until you experience the negligence of your rott toward your family, you won't know. All these I have experienced and more within a short time that made me adjust.

If na my Ginger you get, you think say u go beat am? My female GSD. She go don design your body. Your rott gentle sef. So my friend, stop beating your dog please. Your dog is not a human like your child. I'm sure your rott is not trained. Train your dogs and they won't misbehave.

My dogs live INSIDE my house. Not in a cage. Inside. How do you think its possible? Because they are well trained. You won't know dogs are inside except they bark or start playing. So train your dog sir.

Mother - Extremely Fake(local breed no gsd there)

Someone who doesn't take care of his dogs and wish to sell liters will sell same price with one who does? Does It make sense to you?

I dedicate my time and resources into breeding powerful dogs and someone who just sell because his dog gave birth and doesn't really know what he is doing or even care.. Would the price be the same?

So, there can never be a standard. There can only be a market price or market value a.k.a street value. Doesn't mean your dog must be sold at that amount.

Op, do you know Nutritola? Give it a try. It works magic. Mix it with fish(Match the fish so the pup doesn't select it out)

However, it is necessary you feed at least 2 times a day in full. Morning & Night. You can feed some canned food + dry food mixed together in the morning & Nutritola mixed with fish at night till morning and the food should be served cold.

Multivitamins & other supplements such as boosters should not be ignored. Do you know B + E? (Vetzyme) Its a good multivitamin solution for your puppy. Give once a day(1 tablet), preferably at night. The others like the pet booster can be given after every meal. A single cap is okay for the puppy. You should also have a lot of time for your pup. Engage your pup in some fun. Make it happy. Sometimes, peace of mind is also a supplement on its own.

Finally, Vaccinations and timely deworming is important to ensure your pup develops into a fine and charming dog and you should also know that a new GSD puppy may be skeptical and shy for the first 4 weeks which will make it avoid food so you should try to pet your puppy and reassure him/her whenever you feed. You can even hand feed for the first 4 weeks

Yes I feel safe with my dogs. The only thing I fear is my dog getting injured during a fight alone or even dying which is why, whenever he starts barking or growling at night, i go out with him so we face whatever is there together. He is more encouraged if i am involved.

Well, in my opinion,

1. No. A slight difference in height from the standard doesnt make it impure. The height may be as a result of so many factors. I've seen a pedigree 5 months GSD that is smaller than normal. Not so small but kind of shorter.

2. An obese dog(female), should not have any negative effect on puppies. However, one of the puppies may tend to develop the obesity if the obesity is present in the earlier sire or grand mom or dad. An obese male however, is risky.

I've seen an ''obesed'' GSD with the Nigerian Army canine squad before. This dog must have been bombarded with steroids.. That's not a standard GSD at all but they don't mind.

I am a promoter and supporter of the standard GSD. The GSD is a working breed which we must maintain as such. Many so-called GSD today in Nigeria are lacking the breed standards which is killing the purity of this breed. Soon, 'GSD' would no longer be of value. It will be like Kobo in an already dying Naira. For this reason, we, as owners & breeders should STOP patronizing those who falsify these breeds by 'mixing' them in the name of creating something. Some will even say it was a mistake. I still find that hard to understand.

The more people buy these 'mixtures', the more 'mixtures' we have in public. Take for example, Mr A purchase a female mixed GSD(mixed with something A does not know) from Mr B. Mr C also purchase a male from Mr B. (Maybe the sibling). Mr A, when his female puppy is all matured, will still mate his female mixture with another impure/mixed/fake GSD killing the purity even more. Mr A, will then sell the results of this bastardized arrangement for N25k. Mr C on the other hand will be using his fake/mixed GSD as stud, impregnating other 'pure' females making their purity somewhat useless when she litters. Mr B will still be happily selling. Now tell me, in this short analogy, how do we get rid of the mixed/fakes ?
Short Answer: We can't! They are everywhere already! So what do we do? Simple, STOP buying fakes! Get a pure GSD! As a breeder, stop allowing your pure GSD mate a mixed/fake GSD because of money! Don't let your pure male be stud for fake female. This way, in no time, the fakes will drop and our lovely GSD will have its pride and ego again.

There is a slight mixture in the bloodlines of those puppies. The mixture can be ignored. They with grow to be fine GSDs.

P.s There is a difference between White and a lighter tan. A GSD may have a lighter tan at the paw(looks brighter or almost white than other parts), this is okay and is of standard and as such, we still have a pure GSD. But a full white paw is off standard and not pure.

So the puppies above are not 100%
