BusinessTinapa: Tourist Destination Of The Future by Greycells(op): 12:03pm On May 04, 2007
The Tinapa Resort has been described as the tourism destination of the future, with capacity to cater for over 350 million visitors from all over Africa and beyond.

This was stated by Mr. Sam Anani, Managing Director, Tinapa Business Resort Limited in his presentation titled "Tinapa: The Courage to dream", at the Calabar breakfast meeting of the Nigerian-South African Chamber of Commerce (N-SACC).

Anani revealed that an average of one billion Dollars was spent by Nigerian businessmen to procure goods and services from other nations on an annual basis. He said such money could be retained in the system, if world class local sources were available within the country for such transactions. He declared that the $400 million Tinapa project would go a long way in serving this purpose.

He said the unique contiguity of Tinapa to the Cross River Free Trade Zone and the Calabar Port, and availability of world class facilities, including ICT, independent power source and reliable security system, made Tinapa ideal for international trades and businesses.

Anani said Tinapa would generate between 5,000 and 15,000 employments, when fully operational, stating that the project would enjoy 100 per cent tax and import duties exemption; be exempted from Federal Government ban and trade restrictions and operators would be able to repatriate profits.

Other speakers at the event were Dr. Grace Eyoma, Commissioner, Government and Consumer Affairs, National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Mr. Jerry Mabena, CEO, Kagiso Exhibitions and Events, South Africa.

The event was jointly sponsored by Stanbic Bank and the Mirage Investment Limited and members used the opportunity to visit the Tinapa Project, with a guided tour, coordinated by Francis Ekom, Marketing Manager of the Resort.

Conclusively, the members of the Chamber were received at the Governor's office by both Governor Donald Duke of Cross River State and his Deputy, Elder Walter Eneji, together with other members of the Sate Executive Council.

Christianity EtcRe: Paying Tithes Or Giving To The Needy? by Greycells(m): 12:31pm On Mar 26, 2007
Tithing is Unscriptural Under the New Covenant

[A Scriptural Exposition on the Fraudulent Fleecing of the Flock]

Since first posting this tithing paper on bible-truths.com, we have had hundreds of thousands of visitors seeking information on this topic. Many have written me personally thanking me for freeing them from this illegal and abusive practice of the Church. I have also received emails from some who are sure that tithing is a bonafide legal obligation for members of the New Testament Christian Church.

Objections to my paper range from simply quoting the prophet Malachi sent to the priests and nation of Israel: "Wherein have we robbed Thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse…." While others who can find absolutely no Scriptural authority for Christians to tithe, invent clever little doctrines like this:

"Tithing was a form of worship to God, and since we still worship God, we must still tithe."

I will answer this one in one sentence: Since burnt offerings were a form of worshiping God, and since we still worship God, must we still offer burnt offerings to God? , Ridiculous.

Part II of this paper covers the Malachi prophecy more thoroughly as it concerns the subject of tithing, for full details http://www.bible-truths.com/tithing.html

Wake-up, the times are changing and for real. A lot of people with self-esteem go through such agencies to get a life partner. People will continue to do it (wetin i dey talk sef?), it is experiencing phenomenal growth. thanks to the internet.

The success of Brick and Mortar matchmaking agencies that resulted in the phenomenal online dating industry. Whether u like it or not, most facets of life is going online, why not? U buy your recharge card online, pay PHCN bills online, water bills online, transfer money online ( the list is endless).

All that is not inferiority management (abi wetin you call am)?
RomanceRe: Match-making: Does It Really Work? by Greycells(m): 2:45pm On Mar 20, 2007
Matchmaking is both an art and science. In the years of yore, old people matchmake and the couples live ever happily after. Presently, it is a science because the Internet has taken it to another level via the use of profiles made available by dating sites,

If matchmaking is utterly useless like many believe, what accounts for the success of dating services that include christian singles, american singles  etc. These websites are pseudo-scientific matchmaker, They are perfecting their act by the day,

The increasing popularity and the humongous growth of users of social networking websites namely hi5 and myspace is pointer to the fact that people are looking for connections (serious relationships, erotic encounters, business relationship etc) via the Internet every minute. People are not just contented with the traditional way of finding a wife, lover etc. and perhaps, they are more comfortable with an impersonal matchmaker (a dating site)

Finally, what is the difference between the dude that met hins wife-to-be via matchmaker and the dude who met his in real time?

TV/MoviesRe: Where Is Nollywood Located In Nigeria? by Greycells(m): 12:09pm On Feb 19, 2007
Deconstructing Nollywood
If India’s monstrously popular film industry which accounts for the highest film output and ticket sales globally could be termed as Hollywood’s poor cousin, what do we call Nigeria’s Nollywood?

Call it anything. But not Emeka Ike’s cliché that Nollywood is a dream that is about to crash. It seems the once popular actor is the only subscriber to this pessimistic view of Nollywood’s future.

Over-hyped, but mainly characterized by unoriginal plots, poor dialogue, sound and poor production values; yes that is Nollywood, an industry where anything goes. But do not forget that world class producers namely Tunde Kelani, Jeta Amata and Tade Ogidan, among others, belong to this same Nollywood.

Did we say Nollywood? Yes. But you won’t believe who is contesting this? It is no less personality than Kanayo. O. Kanayo, recipient of Nollywood Actor of the Year Award. He argues that Nollywood is mere abstraction.

In Kanayo’s opinion, Nollywood does not compare to Bollywood and Hollywood in concrete terms. According to him, Nollywood presently exists in the mind of industry stakeholders, because there is no physical space, structure or location that could be termed as such in Nigeria.

For Kanayo, Hollywood represents the American film industry and is also a district in Los Angeles (California State), while Nollywood merely depicts the Nigeria’s home video production industry which has no historical or cultural location.

Urging stakeholders to join the campaign for a Nollywood real estate that is similar to Hollywood, Kanayo says it is the only way the fledging home video industry will compare to Hollywood in the nearest future.

Nollywood, the name of Nigeria's thriving straight-to-video film industry was coined by Matt Steinglass in an article published in the New York Times in 2002.
