Ok, you can try them. But be ready to provide at least 10% per cent of the total cost; your bank statement for 3-6 months (indicating that you can repay); among other stuff they may ask for through the financing institution.

AutosRe: A Tokunbo Bus Or A Brand New Bus Lease Now! Anyone? by Greycells(m): 1:20pm On Mar 26, 2009
Most leasing companies and financial institutions do not have products that support lease of bus for commercial purpose (public transportation).

You may consider support from friends and families (angel investors) once you have your seed capital to actualise your dream of buy acquiring a bus for commercial purpose (i hope my deductions are right, given the tone of your post).

A lease arrangement may not materialise, especially with the current global financial melt down that has caused liquidity crunch in 9ja.

I wish you well.

InvestmentRe: Fixed Deposit Account Rates by Greycells(m): 11:04am On Feb 06, 2009
My company, FutureView Financial Services Limited offers one of the best term deposit rates through the product called FutureView Money Market Index Product (MMIP). It offers safe window to investors who are risk averse, and would not want to play in the capital market that has proven volatile, in recent times.

FutureView MMIP has short to medium term maturity tenure ranging from 30 days to 180 days, and also offers guaranteed returns. When you make a deposit, it can only be withdrawn after the term has ended or by giving notice of decision to break your investment, which will attract a discount on your interest.

Our MMIP is an extremely safe investment and are therefore very appealing to conservative, low risk investors who get higher returns from term deposit as compared against demand deposit, which can be drawn at anytime.

People have asked before now, why should I do FutureView MMIP and not just bank fixed deposit?

FutureView is registered as a Fund Manager with the Securities and Exchange Commission and The Nigerian Stock Exchange. We also offer attractive interest rates above what banks offer, and also do not charge withholding tax on interest like banks do!

Find attached the soft copy of our Corporate Profile for your perusal. If you need further clarifications you can send a mail to adeola.a@futureviewgroup.com

Our rates range from 12.50% to 17% depending on the deposit value.

Resignation (running away) will not solve your propblem. It is only advisable to leave employment if the issue at stake is your career (personal career development) but never because of the people factor. Cos, peeps are almost the same everywhere.

The options open to you is to move to another department, or try to study your boss; to enable you understand her personality type so that you guys can work together. Better still, if there are other members of your team that get along with her; take a cue from how they do it.

DoS vulnerability hits Google’s Chrome, crashes with all tabs
http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1847&tag=nl.e539

Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed. Restart now? While Google’s Chrome team is cheering, Rishi Narang from Evil Fingers is typing and releasing a proof of concept for a denial of service vulnerability that is successfully crashing the Chrome browser with all tabs. According to Narang’s advisory :

“An issue exists in how chrome behaves with undefined-handlers in chrome.dll version 0.2.149.27. A crash can result without user interaction. When a user is made to visit a malicious link, which has an undefined handler followed by a ’special’ character, the chrome crashes with a Google Chrome message window “Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed. Restart now?”. It crashes on “int 3″ at 0×01002FF3 as an exception/trap, followed by “POP EBP” instruction when pointed out by the EIP register at 0×01002FF4.”

Nothing’s impossible the impossible just takes a little longer.

Whenever a new product is in its introduction stage, it would logically attract a lot of attention from security researchers trying to a make a point that it’s vulnerable, and that some of the vulnerabilities are pretty trivial. For instance, yesterday David Maynor from Errata Security pin pointed possibilities for exploitation in Google’s Chrome, saying that :

“Google just released Chrome, their own web browser. We decided to run it through Looking Glass and it doesn’t look half bad. They at least have ASLR enabled on a few of their libraries, no NX though. Chrome is not as bad as some apps I have seen but that is not saying much.”

What’s important though, is whether or not the browser release would also start attracting the attention of cybercriminals. Being anything but old-fashioned, they too do their homework and take into consideration the market share of a particular browser in order to increase the impact of exploiting it. Consequently, for the time being the level of exploitability of Google’s Chrome is right after Opera’s from the perspective of the malicious attacker taking into consideration Chrome’s non-existent market share.

Would the level of exploitability change? In the fist quarter of 2009, Google would presumably release stats of the number of people who downloaded Chrome, demonstrating nothing else but the introduction stage of their browser. The question is, how many of those who downloaded it would actually stick with it, and would companies embrace it if it does gets popular enough, potentially increasing the exploitability level of any upcoming vulnerabilities?

Considering the fact that according to public statistics of usage share of web browsers, IE6 users are just as many as IE7 ones, converting from Firefox or IE to Google’s Chrome is not going to happen overnight.

Google Chrome vulnerable to carpet-bombing flaw by Ryan Naraine

http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1843&tag=nl.e539

Google’s shiny new Web browser is vulnerable to a carpet-bombing vulnerability that could expose Windows users to malicious hacker attacks.

Just hours after the release of Google Chrome, researcher Aviv Raff discovered that he could combine two vulnerabilities — a flaw in Apple Safari (WebKit) and a Java bug discussed at this year’s Black Hat conference — to trick users into launching executables direct from the new browser.

Raff has cooked up a harmless demo of the attack in action, showing how a Google Chrome users can be lured into downloading and launching a JAR (Java Archive) file that gets executed without warning.

[ SEE: Google Chrome, the security tidbits ]

In the proof-of-concept, Raff’s code shows how a malicious hacker can use a clever social engineering lure — it requires two mouse clicks — to plant malware on Windows desktops.

The Google Chrome user-agent shows that Chrome is actually WebKit 525.13 (Safari 3.1), which is an outdated/vulnerable version of that browser.

Apple patched the carpet-bombing issue with Safari v3.1.2.

Some Google Chrome early adopters using Windows Vista are reporting that files downloaded from the Internet are automatically dropped on the desktop, setting up a scenario where a combo-attack using this unpatched IE flaw could be used in attacks.

Nay! Nay! Tell her to forget the media job, except she has an offer from The Guardian Newspaper or The Punch (print) or STV and NTA for electronic. Most of the others owe salaries,

Way back 2001, I had two offers STB and Media Job offer. Like all idealists, I took the media, to follow my passion. The end result, Idropped out my MMP Class at UI after working for four years because I was unable to pay my school fees (if ur sister will be doing brown envelopes, i mean collecting bribes, yeah, a media job can be more profitable than a banking job). That was the turning point for me, i resigned my appointment and now work for a financial services company. Never know what it meant to get salaries as at when due before now,

Can never go back to the media, never!

Health39 Die In Lagos Pipeline Explosion by Greycells(op): 8:55am On May 16, 2008
By Francis Famoroti, Clara Nwachukwu and Mudiaga Affe
Published: Friday, 16 May 2008
Tragedy struck again in Lagos on Thursday as a two-year-old baby and at least 38 others died when a pipeline explosion tore through a neighbourhood in Ijegun, Alimosho Local Government.

Bayoor Ewuoso.
Scene of the pipeline explosion in Lagos , on Thursday.

Some of the deceased were said to be students of Ijegun Comprehensive High School.

About 36 people rescued from the scene were taken to a nearby military hospital by rescue workers. An unspecified number of houses and vehicles were also burnt in the incident, which an eyewitness likened to an Armageddon.

“It was like the world was coming to an end. People were running for their lives. Children whose schools are located very close to where the explosion happened did not even know where to run to. Smoke enveloped everywhere,” the witness said.

It was indeed a sad day for many of the residents of the area as they battled to save their belongings amidst tears. Sandals and shoes abandoned by fleeing school children were also seen in their hundreds in the area by our correspondents.

As billows of smoke spiked upward, fire fighters, assisted by bare-chested youths, battled without success to put out the fire with water and sand.

Our correspondents learnt that this time around, the explosion was not caused by pipeline vandals or people trying to scoop fuel, but by an escavator working on a road construction site in the area.

”The pipeline break was not as a result of vandalism. A caterpillar doing some road construction work accidentally broke the pipeline and it caught fire,” said an official of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, owners of the pipeline.

“The explosion occurred around 10am. We are yet to identify the company that owned the caterpillar because it was working on our pipeline right of way, which should not have been,” the official, who declined to be named, added.

“After we put out the fire, then we can calculate both human and material losses. The major thing is to put out the fire,” the PPMC official said.

Police authorities in Lagos and the National Emergency Management Agency also could not give the casaulty figure.

While the Lagos State government gave a figure of 14 casualties, the British Broadcasting Corporation reported that 100 lives were lost to the explosion.

But an official of the Nigerian Red Cross put the death toll at 39.

The Spokesman for NEMA, Mr. Abdulsalam Mohammed, confirmed that 36 people were rescued from the scene.

The Deputy Head, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Razaq Fadipe, said, “We rescued students and also embarked on safety operations to quell the fire.”

A man, Mr. Olaseni Soewu whose house on 16/18 Ijegun Road was razed, accused the contractor of being careless in handling the project.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has sympathised with victims of the explosion.

The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Tunde Balogun, told journalists that the state emergency agencies were deployed in the scene immediately the incident was reported.

Balogun, who was in company with Mr. Segun Ayobolu, the Special Adviser on Information to Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), added that all hands were still on deck as the fire might take some hours before it could be put out.

In his comment, Ayobolu said that immediately the incident was reported, top officials of the state government, including the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Tola Kasali, and his Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation counterpart, Mrs. Joke Adefulire, rushed to the scene to coordinate rescue operations.

Ayobolu added that the government emergency officials, including the fire service formed protective foam against the spread of the fire.

He said that the state Emergency Medical Agency and the Ambulance Services treated those with minor injuries.

As at 7pm on Thursday, the efforts to quench the fire was still on.

A top management staff at the Atlas Cove Jetty, Taqwa Bay, Lagos Island said, “We have shut down our facility and stopped pumping products through the line known as Systems 2B. We were already pumping products through the lines before the explosion occurred.”

He also could not quantify the losses, saying, “As long as the fire rages, we are incurring losses by the seconds, so it is only when the fire has been put out that we can know how much products we lost.”

Given the spate of low capacity utilisation at the nation‘s four refineries, the Systems 2B Pipeline had become a very important facility, as it accounts for more than 60 per cent of products import received at the Atlas Cove.

Already, operators at the Mosimi Depot have said the fire might lead to scarcity of products in some parts of the country.
