BusinessRe: Oil Price Jumps As OPEC Keeps Output Steady, Hits Four year High by GSA01: 11:53am On Sep 25, 2018
theoldpretender:
NB: This is not a defence of the government, but an explanation if you will of why we should stop being a monoeconomy.

And with that...here is why the $81 oil price won't improve Nigeria's economy

1.We need oil to be at $140 per barrel to be able to have a balanced budget. $81 does not even reach that threshold.

2.Because oil has been below the $140 threshold since the government took over....we will still need to takeloans, and we will continue to take loans until oil reaches the breakeven point of $140...and even after that, we will still be paying back loans.

3.That is how we have been operating since long before 1999. No matter how high or low oil is, we always would keep on taking loan after loan UNTIL we reach the breakeven price...and even then....

4.Even during the last oil boom of 2011-14, because oil was not at the breakeven for those years....we still took loans.

5.The only way forward is simple. We have to

a) End subsides, so that we can save more money and encourage investment...which means more jobs. Yes, fuel will goup....but more investors ,local and foreign will come in, and jobs will be saved.

b)Take strategic loans for power and transport alone...so that we can improve things.

c) End price controls in the power sector. DISCOS cannot make much money on power bills of N2000 a month for metered houses. That way, more money and investment flows into the power sector.

d) Cliche...but we must really 'pight kwarrupshion'.

PoliticsRe: Senator Mohammed Abba-Aji Defects To PDP In Borno by GSA01:
This man has evaluated his chances in the APC and decided to join PDP, PDP have a very slim chance in Borno state, Because it is Buhari government that rescued Borno state and its people from total take over by Boko boys..
PoliticsRe: Osun2018 : Fani-kayode Reacts, Reveals What Will Happen To Buhari In 2019(Pics) by GSA01: 2:17pm On Sep 24, 2018
Fani Kayode and co had the opportunity to change the whole country, when the PDP was in Power, they even brag of ruling the Country for 66 years, They all took turn to loot the treasury despite huge oil windfall.

Its so unfortunate that Nigerians have a choice of PDP and APC, and certainly APC is the better alternative than PDP..

In a state in which APC enjoys power of incumbency both at the state and FG level, yet they could 'lose' based on the number of valid votes, it's a big shame. You didn't pay salaries and expect people to vote for your party, wicked leader, APC supporters will have heart attack in the re-run results, Power belongs to the people
I can bet my last cent!! that you did not say this words when APC won Ekiti, Fayose did not pay salaries and you expected his Anointed candidate to win just because he is in your favorite party. lets tell ourselves the truth for once.. Buhari is committed to a free and fair election . get your PVC and vote stop assuming about the ruling party rigging the election..
PoliticsRe: Maurice Iwu: 'Osun Election Was Conclusive' by GSA01:
That is how different news from different angles will be coming up, all i know is that INEC has tried in ensuring that the election is fair and free. just that Politicians and their desperate acts are making it difficult for INEC, Secondly the Federal Government deserve accolade by not influencing the outcome as we have experience in 2007..
PoliticsRe: Osun: Adeleke Speaks On Inconclusive Election by GSA01: 1:34pm On Sep 24, 2018

PoliticsRe: My Observation: I Was Even SHOCKED APC Could Get 5k Votes In Osun, who Do Dem? by GSA01: 1:30pm On Sep 24, 2018
Obviously the OP thinks people in Nairaland are the ones that are to vote in Osun!!! So because you are a PDP worker abi na Agent sef, everybody must now vote PDP.. the truth is that PDP had the chance to make this Country Africa Dubai, But they siphoned all money for personal gratification and you want Nigerians to Pick the PDP as the only alternative, it is better i vote SDP than PDP..
Christianity EtcRe: Leke Adeboye: If You Voted For APC In Osun You Are A Fool - Pastor Adeboye's Son by GSA01: 1:18pm On Sep 24, 2018

PoliticsRe: Breaking: APC Shifts Presidential Primary by GSA01: 1:11pm On Sep 24, 2018
There is no big deal in shifting primaries. Just that the Senate may also shift resumption date on the face of urgent National matters as INEC budget. So unfair that people like Saraki play Politics with such National issue..
PoliticsRe: Osun Election: Omisore Reacts As INEC Declares Election Inconclusive by GSA01: 1:06pm On Sep 24, 2018
The Osun election will go down in history as one of the keenly contested election ever in Nigeria. INEC was apolitical in their conduct . This goes to show that our democracy is growing with initiatives such as card reader. The electoral process is relatively fair as to what Obasanjo conducted in 2007..
PoliticsRe: Apc, Pdp, Sdp, Adc, Others All Found New Ways To Buy Vote, Say Monitors by GSA01: 12:53pm On Sep 24, 2018
Nairaland has turn to a forum where people will just come and comment all manner of ills about a bad system and fault the people who are trying seriously to correct the system. Nobody can take away the role of INEC and Federal Government in the peaceful conduct of the Osun state election, though a lot still has to be done!!!
PoliticsRe: Osinbajo And Okorocha Launch Trader Moni In Owerri by GSA01: 12:35pm On Sep 24, 2018

PoliticsRe: Air Nigeria A Scam? PDP Calls For Minister Of Aviation Hadi Sirika's Arrest by GSA01: 1:57pm On Sep 21, 2018
Abeg make we hear word, is not the same PDP that contributed to the collapse of Nigeria Airways in 2003, Not minding the job loss and Million investment. What did successive Government in PDP do to revive the National Carrier, Absolutely Nothing !!! APC is better than PDP jare.
PoliticsRe: This Is How Dr. Saraki Will Win 2019 Presidential Election & PDP Must Field Him by GSA01: 12:42pm On Sep 21, 2018
Saraki is not Yoruba, That he is married to a Yoruba woman doesn't make him a Yoruba man, you guys should stop that cheap Propaganda of him being a Yoruba man, as a matter of fact he can not win South west, not when Tinubu Political structures are still in place..
Kogi and Nassarawa are still Buhari catchment. and Buhari will get 25% in Akwa Ibom and Delta for the first time in history...

If you still doubt Saraki Ethnic group Wikipedia---
Olusola Saraki was born on the 17th of May, 1933 at Ilorin, Kwara State and died in Lagos November 14, 2012.[1] His mother was from Iseyin in Oyo State and his father was from Ilorin. His paternal ancestors were Fulanis who came from Mali about 150 to 200 years earlier.
PoliticsRe: "We'll Deploy More Resources To Ease Your Sufferings"- Osinbajo To Flood Victims by GSA01: 11:30am On Sep 21, 2018
Sometimes i wonder if Nigerians do not want to see Good and proactive measures by Government, or just that some persons are paid to dragged the government down by any means, Because the present Government have been proactive on this flood issues, even NEMA have been giving Details on how the water level has been increasing, evacuating areas seen as potential threat and even putting a national disaster call on standby.

On this one The PMB government has done well, even the Vice President had visited Niger and Anambra to get first hand information on the flooding..
PoliticsRe: Some PDP Presidential Aspirants are Not Presidential Materials - Gov Wike by GSA01: 10:54am On Sep 21, 2018
Lack of internal democracy, Lack of sincerity, unity list and lack of trust between its aspirants is already enough indices that will let any kindergarten Political analyst to know that the PDP footings is on a Mines field. Whilst APC has recovered on time to put back its house together..
PoliticsRe: Amaechi Standing At The Back Of President Buhari (Photo) by GSA01: 10:33am On Sep 21, 2018
Ameachi was a member of the N-PDP still in the APC despite not having one of the Major Offices in the government, he is still in the APC, unlike Saraki, Tambuwal, Kwakwanso. who defected for frivolous reasons like juicy appointments and contracts, plus their self agenda.
PoliticsRe: Oby Ezekwesili & Her Predictions About The Nigeria Air Few Months Ago by GSA01: 10:14am On Sep 21, 2018
So called Giant of Africa do not even have a national carrier, and some persons are even suggesting that Nigeria vote back the Political party that presided over the destruction of Nigeria airways, The Buhari Government even tried in reviving the National Carrier but due to the cumbersome nature of the problem it has to be postpone, I believe this is a foundation the government have layed, for the revival of the National carrier ..
PoliticsRe: Yakubu Dogara Storms PDP Headquarters by GSA01: 6:11pm On Sep 20, 2018

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Knows He Can’t Stop Buhari From Winning In 2019- Tony Momoh by GSA01: 4:58pm On Sep 20, 2018

The Vp visit to get on the spot assessment of the situation and to see if officials mandated to carry out sharing of relief materials are truely carrying out such mandate..
PoliticsRe: Ambode: Tinubu Burst Into Tears At Meeting With Buhari & APC Governors- Guardian by GSA01: 11:39am On Sep 20, 2018

PoliticsBuhari Approves Dualisation Of Ikot Ekpene-aba Road by GSA01(op): 6:10pm On Sep 19, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the dualisation of the road linking Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State and Aba in Abia State. Sen. Ita Enang, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), disclosed this in an interview with State House correspondents on Monday at the Presidential Villa. Buhari Enang and Sen. Godswill Akpabio (APC Akwa Ibom North-West) led a delegation from the All Progressives Congress(APC), Akwa Ibom on a courtesy visit to Buhari. “Two things the president has done for us today; approving that the road between Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State and Aba in Abia State be dualised. “The second is that the road from Oron to Calabar, that is the 5th section of the East-West road is going to be awarded and completed; and that is under the Forum on China African Cooperation Funding window. “It runs into hundreds of billions; and runs through the sea and it is to link the entire South-South. “With these two and all others which have been awarded, the entire people of Akwa Ibom State and South-South have declared that they will support the government of president Buhari and APC. “We have no doubt that the entirety of South-South and South-East will be collapsing into APC led by Akwa Ibom,’’ he said. According to him, the delegation comprises politicians of repute in Akwa Ibom State who have come to show solidarity with Buhari. He said that the number of people that had left PDP and crossed over to APC ranging from former legislators, governors, deputy governors, members of the House of Assembly was indicative that the people of the state had pitched tent with Buhari. Enang said that aside roads, the president had also favourably treated the state in terms of appointments. (NAN)
