celebritee:
This happened quite a while back. I boarded a bus from Ketu to Ikorodu. There's a spot at kosofe where gun bearing Mopol usually collect N20 (shandi) from commercial vehicle owners. My bus driver wanted to be faster than his shadow and so he pretended to slow down to deliver his shandi. All of a sudden, he just sped past like a bat from hell. It was like the Mopol peeps were fully expecting this and so they ran to their parked vehicle and chased us.

It was terrifying as i was at the back of the bus and all i could think of was the Mopol opening fire and 'accidentally discharging' on the bus. That led me to lie face-down on the floor of the bus to minimise the probability of getting a bullet firmly lodged in the spinal cord.

Fortunately, there was a bit of traffic at mile 12 and the Mopol guys caught up with us. They descended on the bus driver with fury delivering all sorts of blows, slaps and kicks. The poor guy started begging. I remember his exact words.
'' Abeg sir. Abeg. I dey try to stop my motor. The thing no gree stop. Abeg. I get your 20 naira inside my pigeon hole''.
na wah oh  huh

Unconsciously, the  experience made me to start sitting in the middle of buses.
bros pray to get your ride soon wink

Enid Blyton  grin ,  wow i just searched for Enid Blyton Books online and this nairaland page popped up at No. 3 on Google

I had no idea she'd died at 71 over 40 years ago  shocked (11 August 1897 – 28 November 1968).
Her books have sold over 600 Million copies  shocked

She captivated my imaginations with her tales of adventure and fantasies There were Goblins, Elves, Gnomes, Fairies, Dwarfs, Brownies etc etc, It was so real - It felt as though i was inside the book at times.

Gamine:
Yeah!

yum yum!
Lol cant forget how she wet my appetite (I still salivate whenever i remember the way she describes the food those kids were eating  cheesy)

I owe a lot of my English Vocabulary today to this great Author.

The Adventurous Four (read a few)
The Famous Five (Yes i read the complete 21 editions)
The Five Find-Outers and so many more fairy-tale books
etc etc

I really need to become a collector, so my kidz would have the same awesome experience i had!
I owe a tribute to this great Author. May her gentle soul Rest.In.Peace.

Scenario 4

Wet rainy morning in Lagos, Managed to hop on a bus on the way to work. It was still a bit dark around 6:15 am
The Bus was heading to ojuelegba and was just passing stadium at this time (from lere)
One Yoruba woman said 'Owa' as we approaced the stadium meaning she wants to get down at stadium bus stop.

The Bus Driver wanted to drop her at the Road divider on the left because the bus stop shelter on the right was water-logged.
(He was doing this to help her because if he drops her at the bus stop proper, she may find it difficult to get a vehicle since there was water all over)

For where? she no gree oh! She insisted that he must drop her at the bus stop because of the rain
He now swerved to the right to drop her since she insisted.
Immediately she came down from the bus and made into the bus-stop shelter. Alas there was a mad man there lying down!
She tried to call the bus back for where, grin grin grin

CultureRe: Common 'madness' In Lagos? by GTay(m): 9:16am On Dec 11, 2009
Only in Lagos:

You are a JJC. You are trying to go somewhere, you have the address but have no idea how to get there.
You approach a bike (okada) and show him the address, He tells you 'Ha! That place, far oh, but if you fit pay, i go carry you go there'
He ends up taking you there and charges you some good amount of money!

When you're done and youre leaving the place, you decide to walk to the nearest busstop maybe with the friend who you visited, only to realize that the place you went to is actually trekkable from where the okada man was in the first place shocked

The bike guy simply took you on a merry-go-round to make you feel you've travelled some good distance grin

Scenario 3

This happened a year ago. I was standing by the Road (just in front of my house) waiting for a lift to work. Then I sighted a Mad Man approaching from the right. I quickly stepped a few yards back away from the road.
An elderly man in native was coming by the left, the mad man and the elderly man intersected just in front of my house.

The Elderly man just thought the mad man would walk by, but alas, the mad man raised his hand as if to slap him (he didnt) and yelled "You dey craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazehuh"

Lol it was so funny, coming from a mad man, I was laughing so hard and thanking God i had ducked, otherwise!  shocked
