DeniseKendricks: Thank you all for your contributions...
it would be good to meet people going to the same school as I am, during the orientation. however, being that PTDF hasn't said anything valid as to the list except that they are not unmindful of resumption, I am talking about the accommodation generally, considering options where funding is coming from another source and not PTDF, and you might not find credible people to share common grounds with, not untill schools resumption and/or orientation. The truth is, the price you have seen so far are mostly two bedrooms, which can be shared between two persons. More so, accommodation in the UK is the same everywhere except variation of prices on the cities. |

DeniseKendricks: I am not staying in london, and all the off-campus accommodation I have seen also require a deposit, booking fee, or a guarantor and they are also not so cheap at most 700 pounds a month and at the least 500 pounds. see there are certain things I look out for when house hunting;
1. proximity - either you stay close to school and pay a higher sum or you stay a bit further way and invest in transportation, your choice. 2. security - very very important to me as i have no idea what kind of neighborhood I would be living in. 3. Privacy - I like my Space, (shared bathroom and toilet is out of it, especially in a floor with soooo many students).
Some of these things I have listed might seem unnecessary, but that's just the way it is. It is also because of the highlighted reason, I am seeking an alternative and frankly the italicized statements are unnecessary. thanks alot. Privacy---You should be ready to pay £550-600 on accommodation. |

usqoh: rent an accommodation. You can see 300 to 350 pounds per month accommodation including bills if you stay outside London. That is the easiest way of saving money. Also, university room is small and you will even pay deposit. if you damage something, they will deduct it from deposit. You have just saved 8315 pounds ( more than 4 million naira) without working. Imagine how many lives in your family you can touch with that money. Apart from oil company, how many people in Nigeria can afford that money per annum. Don't get carried away and forget your roots. Many of my sets are regretting their reckless spending while me I am still spending my millions. Wise man! |

stanisbaratheon: Alright Guy, if you get good offer from any IOC, go for it. Don't allow their long sermon caged you. Perphaps, some schools do long distance program. You can enrol while working with IOC. But if you must go OSS way, avoid UK. The chance of getting a job after your program is less than 2%. It is not about a grade as being speculated. It was their policy that for any non european to get a work permit, the company would have to pay you above £30k or so on annual salary scale. This has made recruitment difficult for non EU students from getting a job. No company would want to pay non experience with such amount. Apart that, the company must first consider citizen, follow by EU, and then non EU, which you belong. God still work wonders, you maybe lucky you fall under the categories God wants to favour. The only thing UK certificate does, it paves way for opportunities outside UK. |

noscarn91: Aiye , both university of abedeen and RGU are in aberdeen , aberdeen to the best of my knowledge is a multicultural city with lots of businesses and opportunities . Northern Scotland on the otherhand is almost rural and occupied by mainly Scottish folks with fishing and agricultural as their main occupation. Did you attend or intend to attend any university in Scotland ? I have attended one in Scotland. Good luck to everyone still waiting for their visas. |

noscarn91: Congratulations my brother , Scotland is a beautiful place , very cold but you would get use to it , beautiful girls too , you might want to check out espionage night club on union street , if you into girls , the pittodre stadium is always recruiting but you only work like 3 times in a month at least you can manage that before you get a steady guy, if you interested you can send your cv to Ryan.Candy@sodexo.com . For a better paying job , care companies like paramount care and inspire care might be hiring , just do your research. There is also an African shop on George street not too expensive , there are also cheap accomodation on George street as well in the range of £350 per week. Try and get a monthly and weekly bus pass from first bus if you intend to move around but if you are aka-fun and like trekking all the best . I advise you to have fun , 1 year is very short , travel if you can afford it , make new friends , Scottish girls are very friendly if you lucky you might get a white babe , pls avoid Nigerian girls by all means , they would chop u and waste you time . You didn't add, learn Scottish accent in 3 days |

jsleekysleeky: I am very disappointed in you @Dmainman, I always thought you had the capacity clear, coherent and unbigoted thinking but it appears I am wrong. Many Nigerians from the south erroneously believe that Northerners are uneducated, this is far from reality. If you have travelled around Nigeria and have interacted with graduates from the North and South, you will realize that talent and academic potential is spread across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Being a northerner does not make one dull and being a southerner does not make one sharp. Yes, there have been northerners who got the PTDF Scholarship without merit but there are also southerners who got the same PTDF scholarship without merit. I don't know why Pressid was cancelled but I believe if there was true merit in the process almost 50% of the 102 recipients would be northerners. If your position is that there was merit in the Pressid process then you should also agree that there was merit in the recent DSS recruitment exercise that yielded 51 recruits for Katsina and 5 for Akwa Ibom. The reality of Nigeria is that every ethnic group in Nigeria tries to outdo the other when someone from their group occupy any office whether in public or private sector. If a Hausa man occupies an office most of the recruits for that office would be Hausa, same thing happens if an Igbo man occupies the office. Every Nigerian is marganilized and no Nigerian is marginalized. This is the reason for over 50 years of Royal Dutch Shell's operations in Nigeria no northerner has made director or even manager. It is the reason why for over 50 years the Igbo produced a Chief of Army Staff just once.
If we want to build a new and better Nigeria, we must move away from painting one group as culprit in our collective failure. We must admit how we have wrong one another and collectively resolved to change our ways. Stop writing long episode, read the link. |

DreManuel: It must have been a long time ago you got your MSc scholarship. Pressid ended with the Goodluck administration and the last "scholars" that got the award in 2014/2015 never were sponsored. So I doubt if PTDF sponsors Pressid. I can't speak for Tetfund. But since these are different initiatives, while should PTDF bear the burden? You are absolutely right. There is never a day PTDF sponsor Tetfund n Pressid.These are separate organizations with different funds. Tetfund is a fund predominantly for academia, the lecturer. |

Pray n fasting is not to bribe God but to crucify your flesh, so as to commune with God for mercy over your life. When you fast n pray, your spirit will be strong (come up) while flesh is weak (go down). The spiritual controls the physical. You take charge when you are up. |

IkpuMmadu: I wonder what these people want to achieve....Jesus did 40days and they are doing 70....
Hope they pray for bubu ..because as it stands now
I am tired People like you don't read bible. Too much of my pastor say, read your bible, it is there.There are different number of days you can fast n pray: 3 days, 7 days, 21 days, 40 days, 70 days. You can also select these numbers too 10, 12, 24. They have significant to things of the spirit. People like you will still complain which type of prayer are they praying, read the account of King David's. Almost all his prayers are spiritually targeted against singular enemy which was King Saul. But he had opportunity to kill king Saul physically. Did he kill king Saul? No. Those prayers aren't for physical battle but of the spiritual. People like you will still say how can a pastor contest for Vice President. Did you know Daniel was a president of a province, Nehemiah was a governor, Zerubbabel was a governor, Joseph was a governor. So many of them. Read your bible not only what your pastor said |

Prudento: Don't worry you will see the list before Friday. But u should be open-minded enough to accept whatever you see. I personally feel I did well in the test, but I'm busy acquiring a skill and applying for jobs. There's absolutely nothing in this life you can be sure of, not in this crooked world. I work by faith, not by sight. I have put too much energy into this stuff, it mustn't go in vain. I wonder how I always check NL if the list is out. |
