Politics › Ill-fated Plane Had Engine Replaced – Dana Staff (unbelievable) by gulfer(op): 10:11am On Aug 03, 2012
A senior manager with Dana Airline, Mr Tony Usidamen, yesterday admitted that the ill-fated aircraft had engine failure two years ago, but was quick to add that the engine was replaced.

This came as the Coroner Judge, Mr. Alexander Komolafe, said the Aviation Minister should appear before it to speak on the plane crash.

Usidamen, who also is the Head of Corporate Communication of Dana Air, was the first official of the airline to give evidence before the coroner inquest. He told the court that the ill-fated plane, had an engine failure two years before the crash.

According to him, the management of the airline discovered on April 19, 2010, that the engine of the plane was bad, but returned to safety, which made them to “change the engine in the interest of their passengers.”

While being cross-examined on whether he was aware that the same airline had hydraulic leakages on May 23, 2012, the witness said he was not aware that the aircraft, MD 83 with registration number 9J 992 5N RAM, had such problem.

Questioned by a counsel from the state Ministry of Justice, Mr Akintunde Bakare, of the name of the engineer who certified the air worthiness of the air craft, he said he could not give the name of the engineer who certified the aircraft on June 3, 2012.

At this juncture, the Coroner Judge, threatened to sanction the witness if he did not furnish the court with the names of the engineers.

In his response, he only mentioned that the engineer who certified the airline on 3rd June 2012 and several other engineers are still working with Dana, adding that the ill-fated airline was in good and perfect working condition when it flew.

Family › Re: If You Are The Husband Of This Woman, What Would You Do? by gulfer: 9:01am On Aug 03, 2012
degamonn: This happened at NYSC Orientation Camp, Wannune, Takar Local Government Area,Benue in the just concluded camping of of 2012-Batch B.
This woman applied for redeployment on marriage grounds and when she was granted the permission to leave the camp, she stole a Black Berry phone belonging to a fellow corps member and hid it in her pants. Every corps member in her hostel was asked if they saw the phone but no one admitted seeing the phone.
Unfortunately for the woman, when she was leaving the camp her belonging had to be searched at the gate and in the process, the stolen Phone rang severally and the security men at the gate insisted that she must answer her call having noticed that there were several reports of stolen items and most especially phones at the camp. It was at that process the phone was discovered in her pant and the NYSC authorities insisted that the husband must come before she could be released.
If you are the husband of this woman who subjected her husband to public disgrace and humiliation of that nature, what will you do to her? Retain her or divorce her?
Are you the husband and require assistance/advice to determine what to do?

No basis for comparism between both; one is a sedan (I4) and the other is a SUV (possibly V6). I like the mitsubishi SUVs, they are quite good in performance and fuel consumption.

Politics › Policeman Protests Towing Of Car, Shoots At LASTMA by gulfer(op): 7:21am On Aug 02, 2012
A policeman, Solomon Awodogan, on Wednesday allegedly shot indiscriminately at the Iponri office of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority to protest the towing of his vehicle by the agency’s officials.

PUNCH Metro learnt that LASTMA officials had towed the vehicle after it was parked on the Bus Rapid Transit lane.

The General Manager, LASTMA, Mr. Babatunde Edu, said after the shooting, the policeman got itno his vehicle and sped off.

Edu said, “The policeman reportedly stormed the Iponri office of LASTMA, shot sporadically and forcibly ran away with his apprehended vehicle. The red Mercedes Benz with number plate JV 23KJA was apprehended at Oyingbo for parking on the BRT dedicated lane, thereby violating the BRT traffic law.

“The owner of the vehicle deliberately parked on the dedicated lane without recourse for the established law as it became an impediment for BRT buses to move on the lane. This led to the towing of the vehicle. The Mercedes Benz was booked in accordance with Lagos State Traffic Management Regulation law.

“The suspect, who later traced the vehicle to the Iponri office of the agency, wore a cream top on his police trousers and started shooting into the air indiscriminately to scare away the officers and the security men on duty and succeeded in taking away the vehicle from the yard.”

Edu expressed disappointment that a law enforcement agent could break the law with impunity, adding that such acts of indiscipline could lead to the breakdown of law and order.

Edu said the policeman, whose address was traced to 10, Abolade Street, Mushin through the aid of the auto inspector computer software, would be sanctioned accordingly so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

When contacted, the spokesperson fo
r the State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, said she was unaware of the incident but promised to find out.

honeypie311: There is this pastor living in my compound wit his wife and 10yrs old son.The issue is,whenever this boy offends him,he totures him like a criminal all in the name of parential guide and training and blah..blah. For instance, if the man comes back from work and sees him playin wit other kids in the compound,he will not make him go unpunished, or maybe he sent him on an errand and he did not come back on time.beside that,he starves him wit food a number of time as punishment too. we always hear d boy scream anytime of the day even at midnight sometimes.A sight of the boys bare body will make you poke cos of the Old and new sores all over him. Many a times, people confronts him on this issue but he keeps sayin 'Train up a child in the way he should grow and when he s old.....' The cool and non troublesome boy now sees his father as a marauding beast let loose, he paincs at d sight of him, he stammers when talking to him.he s now become a very dull kid as i suspect he s been affected psychologically.smetimes the father lock him indoors when he s going out wit the mother. His mother weeps most time the man tortures him, i have confront and insults dis man quite a number of times but he still remain stubborn. I'm thinkin of involving the police,i cant bear it nomore, what charge should i lay against him? child toture or abuse? Do the nigeria police take cases like this serious? Pls let's help a child here.
Yes and very very quick. You've seen it, so say it. My sister will tell me that if such happens in the US and you are privy, the onus is on you to report or else in a situation of fatality or serious injuries to the kids; you might be labelled an accessory.

Boladearo: ¤why would an sane artiste worth the performance fees mount the stage and start miming on their own songs in a live performance?
¤ why are 90.9% of our new generation singers and rappers dependent on their soundtrack like sucking babies to feeding bottles?
¤at best, don't you think that our celebrated newwave singers are in the same mimers club as minni vanilli the internationally disgraced lip syncher?
¤if we cannot refer to these ''performing'' artistes as noisemaking fashion models, what better adjective can best describe their miming skills?
¤why are we having so many hit songs on the radio, but a handfull of professional live performance?
¤ for the umpteenth time, why are they so attached to the DJ's wheels od steel as if the manufacturers meant the music machine to serve as life support machines for the performing mimers, sorry, artisite in Nigeria?
¤is it the police, PMAN or the national assembly that should put an end to this odious habit ?
