Boladearo: ¤why would an sane artiste worth the performance fees mount the stage and start miming on their own songs in a live performance? ¤ why are 90.9% of our new generation singers and rappers dependent on their soundtrack like sucking babies to feeding bottles? ¤at best, don't you think that our celebrated newwave singers are in the same mimers club as minni vanilli the internationally disgraced lip syncher? ¤if we cannot refer to these ''performing'' artistes as noisemaking fashion models, what better adjective can best describe their miming skills? ¤why are we having so many hit songs on the radio, but a handfull of professional live performance? ¤ for the umpteenth time, why are they so attached to the DJ's wheels od steel as if the manufacturers meant the music machine to serve as life support machines for the performing mimers, sorry, artisite in Nigeria? ¤is it the police, PMAN or the national assembly that should put an end to this odious habit ? Politics › Re: Nigerian Senators Earn More Than Barack Obama by gulfer: 2:05pm On Jul 27, 2012 |
Paul John: A Nigerian senator earns more in Salary than Barack Obama of the US and David Cameron of the UK. I'll leave you to tell how much Nigerian president goes home with at the end of each month. An Indian lawmaker must work for at least 49 years to earn the annual salary of a Nigerian senator.
In the United States, while the minimum wage is $1,257 (N191, 667), a US lawmaker earns $15,080 (N2.3m) per month. In the United Kingdom, a lawmaker earns $8,686(N1.3m) monthly while the gross national minimum wage is $1,883 (N283, 333) per month. Also, Nigerian lawmakers earn higher than their counterparts in Sweden. With a monthly pay of $7,707 (N1.2m), a lawmaker in Sweden will need to work for over 12 years to equal what a Nigerian senator earn per annum.
The president of the United States takes home an anual salary of $400,000 (N64.156,0m), including a $50,000 expense allowance making the president the highest paid public servant in the US. The $400,000 includes everything and $350,000 out of it is taxable. You just beat David Mark to it, he never wanted this out in the media na. |

Gelatoman: Hello Siena,
Your contribution in the forum is priceless.
I drive Toyota Avensis 2005. After 6months of using this car i suddenly noticed that it consumes fuel more than Vampire consume blood. I have serviced the injector and nozzle. The silencer does not emit black smoke. My mechanic said the catalyst has been removed which is the cause. I argued this with him cause I only noticed this after six month and the car has never slept in mechanic workshop for a day. What do you suggest?
Also, 3 of my tires are 195/65 and the 4th one is 205/60....can this also cause high fuel consumption?
Many thanks If you read Sienna's reply up the post you'll do well to start by getting all the tires to the same size and use the right psi. See if you get an improvement after that. |

Politics › BRT Lane: Army Officers Fined 25,000 Each by gulfer(op): 7:16am On Jul 25, 2012 |
The General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Maj. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, has said Colonel K.I Yusuf and Staff Sergeant Adeomi, who were accosted by Governor Babatunde Fashola for taking the designated Bus Rapid Transit lane on July 17, 2012, will pay the mandatory fine. The fine for taking BRT lane is N25, 000.
This is just as the Nigerian Army began the court martial of 11 soldiers for various offences in Lagos on Tuesday.
Minimah said at a press briefing that the Nigerian Army was not above the law. “They passed the BRT lane and it’s a traffic offence and they’ll pay the fine. The fact that he has apologised to the governor does not mean that he won’t face the law. He will pay the fine,” he said.
The GOC seized the opportunity to warn all army personnel to obey the laws of the state and avoid taking the BTR lane.
He said, “They (army personnel) should avoid the BRT lane because they are designated for the BRT buses which are for the good of Lagosians. We all reside in Lagos and we have the responsibility of obeying the laws of the state. If we get it right, it’s for our common good and if we get it wrong, it’s bad for all of us. “The law was made for Lagosians and we are part of Lagos and the Nigerian Army and the military as a whole are law-abiding and enforcers of the laws, not outlaws. We’ll conform to the laws and obey the law and also aid civil authority in enforcing the laws and we’ll continue to help the state government in this regard.”
Meanwhile, the president of the court martial, Brigadier- General Edward Nze, said the crimes the army personnel were being tried for ranged from alleged murder to financial misappropriation.
Nze said court martial was an instrument used by the Nigerian Army to instil discipline in its men.
“The offences we are handling presently range from murder to misappropriation of funds to being absent without leave. They’ll be charged according to the Armed Forces Act,” he said. http://www.punchng.com/metro/brt-lane-colonel-sergeant-to-pay-n25000-fine-each/ I ask, why was a Naval officer dismissed and jailed for the same offence in 2010? I remember that particular incident at the Anthony end of the BRT lane, could it be because he assaulted the LASTMA officer? |
