Diplomacy, lobbying, one voice etc as u said require number to play out and that is one thing the south southerners lack. Which is why they settle for threat and blasting of pipe line
Lobbying and diplomacy doesn't NECESSARILY have to do with number bro, Scotland or was it Wales had a referendum to either stay within the UK or exist as a sovereign country irrespective of their number. Although majority chose to be within the UK.

Some people don suffer sotey dem look left right and center find who to blame for their woes tire, dem no see...the easier route na to blame am on one Nigeria.., beclouding their reasoning about how they could had been leaving in UTOPIA if not for Lord Luggard Amalgamation...

The more reason why they should be given total control of their oil, very soon oil will lose value completely, they need to structure themselves well before that will happen
Giving comes with diplomacy, lobbying, perseverance, one voice etc..........not threatening oil companies to relocate back to a troubled region or ordering legal oil bloc owners to relinquish their oil licence.

After all said and done, NIgeria still relies on Niger Delta Oil for survive .

All the noise about diversification is hogwash.
No doubt, absolute no doubt..........Nigeria had and is still surviving on crude oil from Niger Delta, again I said oil from Niger Delta not Niger Delta oil, until when the constitution is amended or Niger Delta become a sovereign entity, it stands that way.
.
Government policies from inception had done little or noting to bring effective diversification of the economy, reasons we are still battling who owns crude oil till date.......US daily crude production is more than 4x our production.....meaning they have abundance of such resource, bt because of diversification coupled will existing legislative policies on ground.....you will hardly consider US an oil producing country.

Well, we have been speaking this grammar since 1978 now. Where has it got us?

Has Boko, MEND, IPOB and others not already caused you "nuisance"? shocked shocked

And you think more of same grammar will get us anywhere?

It was the military govt of OBJ that gave us Land Use act. Is that how serious countries create laws. Sure that that it favours have created more states for themselves to dominate the legislature. So talking of democracy changing it since 1999 is sheer hypocrisy.

When are we going to face the reality that Nigeria s bitterly divided and is not working?

What is sure is that Land Use Act only benefit anyone if we have peace.

And he who ignores peaceful negotiation or separation courts a disorderly and messy one. Yugoslavia should be a warning.
I'm sorry, but your argument is incoherent bro. For the umpteen time, SS OR SE have senators in the National assembly, these are representatives of the region and its population. Lobby, solicit, push for amendments or whatever you want via that channel....that is how it is done in develop worlds you cited. I am in support if only it can be done diplomatically and peacefully....not issuing threats and ordering legal oil bloc owners and companies operating outside Niger delta to either leave or bring its head office to a troubled region.
.
Let me use the US again as a model, oil producing states like TEXAS, CALIFORNIA etc have sole right and policies guarding oil production, taxes and revenue generation although federal laws such as waste management, health, pollution super-cedes individual states policies.
.
But again OIL WELLS ON FEDERAL LANDS OR WATERWAYS LIKE THE GULF OF MEXICO and others solely lies with the federal government......again this is achieved because it was embedded in the American constitution.
.
Mind you in as much as some state control their oil policies, federal law supercedes respective state laws.....The US started major crude oil export around 2015, because there was a law that restricted exportation of American crude, reasons they have a massive crude reserve.
.
.
Summarily, push for constitutional amendment diplomatically instead of the parochial way ND are displaying. As far as the constitution hold water, you cant say our oyel or their oil.....it is the Nigerian government oil

We should let people worry about their own problem.

Does your region not have any problems? Have you solved them all? Why is your pant tearing over ND?

Evidently Nigeria has expired. Even the parasites up North now say they are tired of one Nigeria.

Let ND carry their oil cross. Help carry palm oil, groundnut, yam or whatever cross your region has.

Nobody needs paternalism. I am not the one to tell other regions their problem whether as part of the union or when they become independent countries. That is pure arrogance.

Let each mind own business. As long as it is not my region, they can love or kill themselves for whatever reason, not my headache. It should not be yours either.
I can only allow you wallow in your worries, if and only if your worries wont constitute a nuisance to me.....My friend please go over the Nigerian constitution and understand it very well. According to the land use act, every land within the sovereign state belongs to the Government...this is were I think the supposedly error emanated from, as far as this act still hold waters, YOU CANT AUTHORITATIVELY declare a land or its resources as "OUR". So telling private individual with license to oil blocs and oil companies with licence of operation to return license issued by the Federal government and vacate the region is utterly uncalled for.......and this is where i wont just shut up and mind my business because once they start their disturbances my business as well as movement will be interrupted.

You are just adding pepper to injury, insulting the Niger Delta, Igbos are also indigenous to Niger delta. Why not leave their oil for them and see if they can turn to Dubai or South Sudan.
The above statement depicts YOU as a shallow minded person, unfortunately it is the general perception most of your ilks have.....Firstly Nigeria is a sovereign state. Yea, your argument could be quite substantive if you are agitating for more derivative. The US is always a model to us, The US gives 50 percent of federal onshore oil and gas lease revenues to state that have these crude oil or its within its borders, which in your context you called them host communities. 27 percent of federal offshore oil and gas revenues is given to states adjacent to their shorelines......Now am talking about a multi-diverse economy and most importantly capitalist. Crude oil is not their major source of revenue, mind you. Have you ever had a community agitating for 100% derivative in the US which is a sovereign state.
.
Back to Nigeria, yes the government fiscal policies to ecological issues in the niger delta is VERY POOR........buh conversely to US and due to the incompetent and visionless leaders we have had overtime, unfortunately our main source of revenue is Crude oil.....Some Niger DElta states get more than 5x monthly allocation of some states, 13 percent derivatives, opportunities left right and center for being a NIger Deltan, yet no region complains because they felt it is their fare share..........Mind boggling is you still have our oyel mentality within a sovereign state.

In as much as am not in support of the recent quit notice by northern youth and hate speeches occupying our cyberspace.....I will like to ask a very pertinent question......WHERE DO THE NIGER delta PEOPLE STAND?
.
You dissociated yourselves from IPOB and still reacting aggressively to quit notice issued to them.
.
In this century NIGER DELTA still carry oil for head like it will make them be like Dubai if given 100% derivatives?....Pls go learn how southern Sudan fare Will their oil and its export polices.
.
In this era that OPEC member countries are trying to cut down supply of crude oil because of glut in market to maintain a reasonable price, yet some people still think crude oil gat dsame value it had 3 decades ago?
.
How had the massive monthly allocation, 13% derivatives, selected favors both from Federal and oil companies helped you guys over time......I jus saw a shell livewire business grant...wanted applying only for me to see it is restricted only for the NIGER Delta states.. undecided

Nigerians always serious with every thing.....what the young girl said is akin to most little children of her age....show them all the love in this world, turn a minute to give little affection to their sibling and they will tell say u don't love them.
.
It is also liken to the joke of beating a child, giving him biscuits and then ask him who beat u....he will point to another person....they do that because at that age they have a high propensity to make momentary decision or choice...So is all normal, 4get all this una English....she will grow loathing her sibling...loathing ko, Luther vandross ni.

grin Let me be frank with you too.... wink

I agree with you that the "elastic band of resilience" differs from each individual, but would you describe someone who hangs himself after failing first homework as strong? There must be a minimum standard (very subjective, i know).

BUT you conveniently didn't see where is OWN FATHER assessed him the same way i did. Maybe the father is wrong / right, but i can bet you that the Father knows him FAR BETTER than you and i do.

He should look inwards and that was my point. I was unemployed for 7 good years...at a point i dated a devilish girl for 4 good years (believe me we fought on every single sentence grin). But all these negative experiences made me stronger.

Telling his mother to sell her bike for an avenue that wasn't guaranteed was very self-centred. His dad has probably observed acts like this.

Carrot & stick...this boy needs stick for now cool

PS- i am not the only person who has observed that he doesn't want to start "small" or do an "undignifying job"
I never wanted to go deeper buh lemme scratch d surface a little bit....
.
I as well spent 7 years without a "good" job.....Literally I was depression personified. I lost my mum just a month to resuming Nysc camp, that was where my sorrowful journey started...Started as a contract staff with a Nigerian bank buh menh...dat was hell on earth.....after 2years plus I resigned and went back to my father's house (one of my worse fear)....3months after my resignation I was home and dry financially. I literally lived in penury, I started drinking, smoking to calm my nerves. At a point I follow some frnds to a club where I got drunk and carried an olosho home ( that was the first time I ever did that)...I woke up in the morning to discover the lady carted away wit my only gadgets...the worst was she got me infected wit an std. The beginning of another battle.....although I got it treated after a serious battle. bros I can go on and on...
.
Perhaps I forgot to tell you, I had transverse the length and breath of naija huzzling..which was futile, although contrary to the OP, my retire old Dad was very supportive...My mom would be proud of him for that singular reason wherever she is.
.
Disclaimer....for the APROKOS, I went for HIV and Hepatitis test severally after the olosho incident...ofcourse it was negative.
.
So please...give some experiences and kind words whenever you see someone on the verge of breakup...As a human, perhaps he has reach his elastic limit.

I think it's village people... shocked shocked shocked

On a serious note, i would be brutally frank with you. You don't have mental fortitude

You give up easily & you have an entitlement complex.

Look inwards at yourself. The truth is bitter, but YOUR OWN FATHER if he concludes you are lazy, maybe you should ask why

I spent almost 7 years without a job, depressed like you, but kept trudging on. The job i eventually got paid for all the tears.

A real man keeps standing up as he's getting knocked out. A "girl-man" stays down and hopes to be saved by the referee.

Labour market is hard everywhere WORLDWIDE (except maybe Iraq & Afghanistan). Keep applying. Goodluck
I have to be ruthlessly frank with you as well....go study more on the human psychology and anatomy.
.
Every human, I repeat every human have different threshold of elasticity, perhaps yours never reached its limit before the breakthrough...whenever anyone gives such a signal, never ever regard him as a wimp, be magnanimous in giving some kind words and encouragement rather than comparing his strength of resilience with yours.
