having said all that, i think this is a job opportunity waited to be exploited. someone should open up companies for tarring road and then hustle for govt contracts. a bunch of you niggas need to get together. put your money together and form a conglomerate. but noooooo you niggas are looking for work.

Your idea is nice but it seems you don't live in Nigeria. Those in govt will rather give the contracts to their family members and even if you do get the contract you'll have to "share the money" among those who gave you the contracts in the first place. Believe it or not, roads as bad as that get allocation for renovation but those in power will rather buy new houses, cars and sleep with girls that are in the same age group with their kids.

As long as the roads continue being bad, they continue to allocate and then loot the funds. That's the bitter truth

Its not jazz. Apparently, while she was busy asking for extra money and then "advising" your babe to ensure she kept the N500 in place, she was only distracting them and switched the money. Scammers like that would have taken their time to change small cash into smaller denominations. Believe it or not, it's a business.

Notice to quit does not barr you from paying rent. You have no legal right to request from the landlord the refund of six months rent . The law does not in anyway protect a tenant who live freely in a landlord's house without the landlord's consent even if notice to quit has been issued

Exactly as I said earlier! This is the general believe of all tenants that once they're served a 6months notice, it is free rent for the 6months duration.
Such thinking is criminal and if the law allows such, its a big gap and should be amended.

Infact, I've learnt something new: I think the idea of serving tenants quit notice 6months into their tenancy is the best. As such, the tenant will be given an option of renewing his rent immediately it expires or pack out with no further delays. If he pays, the notice will be cancelled and 6mnths later, another one will be served.

You seem not to understand what I wrote. The issue here is not as a result of non payment of rent and even if it was I still have some months left after the 6 months has expired and I'm still entitled to some balance. I was just curious that's all.

From your second paragraph, it easy to see that you are probably a landlord as well and you seem to take delight in taking advantage of your tenants. Just remember that when you have kids they will also become tenants in someone else's house.

If I had known I wouldn't have renewed my rent. I would have just packed out. That's the last time I'm renting a house where the landlord also lives in. I can't imagine why most Nigerian landlords are monitoring spirits. It must be the euphoria of building a house that's affecting them

It is Legal. My Thinking is that the landlord does it to encourage the tenant to pay his next rent or with the aim of increasing it.

My landlord gave me a quit notice this month citing the reason as being "long overdue renovation for which the materials are ready". I already paid my full year's rent in January and it's supposed to expire next year. What I really want to know is, is he supposed to return my rent ie from June till next year while I stay for the period of the 6 months quit notice or is the 6 months quit notice still part of my rent

I assume that from the moment he decided to give me the quit notice I'm no longer supposed to live under my rent but the duration of the quit notice.

When I asked him to give me my balance, he said that he will only give me on the condition that I leave on the same day or next of the refund

Using the "G" in caps doesn't change anything really as a matter of fact you've only turned the word "god" into a name. It's alright to name your imaginary friends so I guess this is cool too.
