plaetton: Funny, sad, but true. And this encapsulates the problem.
Jesus is the problem. The Nigerian people are still being held hostage in The Slaveship Jesus , which is ironically, the name of the First merchant ship that carried the first batch of West African slaves across the atlantic.
Foreign Religions and all their associated bullshytes occupy a greatly disproportionate space in the African mind. This is undeniable, and vastly responsible for the low intellectual girth of this generation. GBAM! Instead of seeking solutions to their problems they'd rather pray and attend church with the belief that it will be all good when they get to heaven. Roll that up with the belief that satan rules the earth and you get a set of people who will ensure they do NOTHING to improve their communities or try to be the change they seek. I'm really looking forward to seeing what heaven will look like at the end of the world(as they want us to believe). Nigerian will poo all over the place, steal all the gold, start collecting bribe from all the "newly dead" souls and sabotage the power supply so that heaven will be in perpetual darkness. Pfft |

PassingShot: We do not have to be in the same country. However, have you thought of what separation will achieve for you?
I have always maintained that leadership is every region's problem in Nigeria. Look at how many years the north has ruled this country and tell me if the development in their region reflects it.
Tell me the amount of money that has gone to the ND since 1999 (it's more if you add IBB's regime), and tell me if the development in that region is commensurate with the money.
If we separate, ND to me will even have more problem than any of the other break-away regions. The reason being that, as at today, the Itsekiris have been in a long-drawn battle with the Urhobos and Ijaws in Delta state and such hostilities will remain and possibly get worse after separation. The Kalabaris, Aguileris and Umuleris have their own ethnic wahala too. Do you think separation will bring an end to all of that? I seriously don't think so.
Lastly, take a look at what is happening in South Sudan after peaceful separation from Sudan. Now, many of them wish they never separated because of the troubles they currently have which they may never get out of.
Many examples abound for me not to support balkanization of the country. What I will support instead is true federalism whereby each federating unit contribute certain percentage of their earnings to the purse of the central government.
Luckily, we have the structure that can achieve that which is the people's representatives in the NASS but sadly we are not pushing them to do it. Instead, we shout from morning till night for Biafra and Lower Niger Republic. I dey tell you. There's going to be serious shock when they realise the reality behind their dreams. Igbos are not really united either more like competetive to each other and the itsekiris, urhobos, ijaws are even more seperated than ever. I believe they fail to see the bigger picture. Africa should concentrating and uniting as one instead of disintegrating. To say that one rehion is being treated unfairly is a big fallacy. Everyone is suffering in this country or do they mean to say that nepa only distribute power to yoruba homes or that only the roads leading to the offices and business places of igbos are bad. We are all affected by the ineptitude of this government. Let's fight for equal rights and try and put this tribalism behind us. At the end of the day other parts of the world will see us all as Africans. Whether fried, grilled, barbecued, boiled, chicken na chicken |

Majority of religious people always end with threatening you with hell fire. Whatever happened to the "forgive" part of the bible? I won't dispute the fact that Lazarus Muoka is one of the few pastors I respect but at the end of the day, he can only motivate you to do what is right. Unless of course you tell me that you didn't read after his preachings and passed your exams. Can you? |

When it got to offering time he said, "if you're a thief, drug dealer, political funds extortionist or get your money illegally please don't put your money in our basket. If you do, go home and never repeat your mistake again(this could actually be the final sales pitch though)". Also, there's part of the service where he asks everyone to close their eyes and raise their hands whenever they hear a sin they are currently into. Christianity Etc › Re: Church Of England Is Satanic Wants To Call God A Woman by hahn(m): 5:23pm On Jun 01, 2015 |
vedaxcool: Let's be on topic. Thanks. I actually am. You don't expect everyone to share your point of view that all of a sudden the church of England is satanic just because the have decided to refer to god as a woman. Afterall, women are responsible for pro creating and producing babies therefore it is safe to assume that god is a woman since god is responsible for creation.. I guess we'll now have to refer to nature as "father nature" instead. Personally, the whole idea is more appealing because now, men can now stop referring to women degoratively by calling them biatch, LovePeddler, slut etc because you'd also referring to god in those terms. And what exactly makes you feel that your opinion matters anyway. The mafia behind the church can decide to do whatever suits them and all they have to do is convince your "daddy GO" to convince you that its right. The only contribution they want from you is your offering. As long as gullible people believe everything you're told, its business as usual |

The stories are never consistent. Since god is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow it is questionable that he has refused to reveal himself to us as he did in those days. Its safe to say that your "supernatural" experience is nothing more than the fact that you were unable to explain it. It doesn't necessarily mean god was behind it unless of course you say that he is also responsible for every other thing that's wrong with the world Royver: Yes I do. If you have never had a supernatural experience, then i dont expect you to understand. If you consider the vastness of variety around you, where you stay is not the same with anywhere else even though you live in a block of flats your flat will always be familiar to you. You do not look exactly like any other person on earth even though we are numbering 6billion now, of course you might have a doppleganger but he wont be exactly the same as you. Your clothing is different from those of any other person where you work or where you worship or where you party, even when you wear the same clothes your friend can differentiate you from the other person wearing the same uniform as yourself...then you begin to see the versatility of He who created you and relaise that you didnt just evolve, evolution is so random that there would have been repititions.
Something happened thousands of years ago and the ancients from all over the world saw it significant enough to write it down. It is no myth. |

Royver: The story of a global flood is not peculiar to the jews alone. All over the ancient world there are texts from Phonecia, Akkadia, Babylona, Assyria, etc that depict there was a flood that wiped out all life.
This does not revoke the flood story but rather fortifies it. the ancients from all over the world experienced something. Those who had written language penned it down and it was passed on to those who had no written language at the time.
Also, you are a scientist. Till date, the flood is the best explanation for why the diinosaurs all died at once and why their bones are found in layers/sediments of rock. Its simple classroom soil sedimentation. I'm sure you did it in primary school. Coincedentally, we are having this same discussion and you're welcome to join us @ https://www.nairaland.com/2348970/thorough-analysis-biblical-noahs-ark |
Christianity Etc › Re: How Did Animals Knew Which Was Chosen To Join Noah Ark ? by hahn(m): 8:25pm On May 31, 2015 |
Royver: They were quite literally led by the spirit of God. An old painting shows angels leading the chosen animals into the ark. Yet another shows animals that started migrating(protected on thier journey by angels) to the place of the construction of the ark months before noah recieved his inspiration to build it e.g polar bears. So you see, there could have been many ways in which the animals got to be in the ark.
If something is an historical fact, there is every possibility that more than one person will take down the account e.g the gospels according to matthew, mark and luke, magdalene, etc. So if the creation story appears in earlier text it further butresses the proof that it actually did happen. Do you REALLY believe that the "spirit" led them? So, all species of animals around the world all strolled, 1 male and female only, into Noah's ark. ALL species includes insectd, bugs, mamals, reptiles etc |

That there is actually no god and they have been dancing and praising their imagination all this while?
