dickt: Tell that to the birds. Only a handful of nurses make such sacrifices. And as long as majority are insensitive to patients' plight and r rude to patients, I can't respect nurses. Never!!! I hate them for being rude to patients that they ought to pamper. . Sometimes there is work pressure or provocation from doctors who r suffering from superiority complex but that's not enough reason to be unnecessarily rude to patients who on many occasions are even far older than you. What happened to respect for elders, huh? . Sometimes I wonder if Nigerian nurses have special training on how to be rude considering the height of rudeness they display to sick people. I know there are bad nurses, we have also had encounters with them, worked with some, etc. I believe it all boils down to personality, I have met and worked with wonderful nurses and some bad eggs. I am a good nurse myself. Some people just have that bad personality, I wonder why they chose nursing then. An impatient and temperamental person can't make a good nurse. People seem to capitalize on the bad ones though, plus the media seems to promote negative things about nursing and nurses. Sometimes the workload gets to some people which can make them flip and like someone said some patients and relatives like to test one's patience. 'Like I once had a patient whose relative came with all intent to frustrate the nurses, any little thing or request, she becomes rude. She later told the matron she has heard nurses are rude (that stereotype), and has come prepared for us. We all ignored her and when she saw how we related with her relative and all, she calmed herself down and came to apologise). And the ITK relatives too, like one that was telling us not to administer diclofenac for her mum that it makes her sleep and that she prefers diazepam. Stuffs like that. |

Lezzlie: I'm suppressing the mounting impulse to flirt with you.... as usual.
Because you raised a valid point and thought-provoking poser.
Conventions change truely, that's what I've been trying to pass across. You know it and affirmed it. Now you won't blame me if I find you more irresistible than I did a mouth ago.
The concept of submission in the marital context has been subjected to varying interpretation and loose definition especially by young adults like myself who are still largely inexperienced in this part of life.
It has been exploited and women have had to bear the brunt of the subjective definition of the word.
But society is gradually morphing to liberalisation without the threats of modern feminism.
But there are a few evil men out there whom no good woman can satisfy. Those are cases of inherently dark wickedness that usually defies human supplication.
But in most instances, women have always controlled men. The truth is that , as society changes into accepting women into the train of professionalism, career and entrepreneurship, they boarded this train and left a precious baggage behind;
It's the baggage of their ability to control their men.
They should go back and pick it up, the journey isn't far travelled yet. Lolz, thank God you are suppressing it. I agree with you a little but... You have still found a way to blame women. A woman should have the right to make her life decisions, whether to be working or a house wife. It's her choice. The success of marriage has nothing to do with qhether the woman is working or not. It has everything to do with those two involved, how compatible their personalities and values are, the mutual love, understanding and respect and especially the way they view marriage. Marriage should be a partnership in which both partners have differing roles. Once you take the authoritarian route, problem sets in. We only talk about how our grandmas and great grandmas live in a good light. A lot of them suffered in the hands of their husbands, but they were expected to take it all silently and endure as norm, and since some were barred from working, where else does she run to, the man is free to treat her as he wills. I don't really get the concept of going back to pick the luggage of controlling the husband though. What I know is even if an egocentric irresponsible man has the most agreeable house wife, he would always find a reason to maltreat and degrade her |

Lezzlie:
Where've you been hiding? Don't tell me you don't know that a deviant form of acceptable human condition is a conscious or unconscious attempt to carve out a new convention from the existing one? I've been around. That depends on what you see as being deviant. The Society's norms changes from time to time. There was a time it would be unheard of of a woman to work or do anything outside the usual family rearing and nurturing. Now, the Society to an extent encourages women to follow their dreams, build careers, live their lives. Not like there ain't still some hypocritical sentiments, like a woman who shares in paying the bill and at the same time take care of the home is such a good woman, supportive, not a liability, etc. But a man that helps out his wife with domestic chores is already deviating from the norm , what the heck he is a man! Several speculations would start coming up about his manliness, she probably bewitched him, he is a woman wrapper and all sorts of balderdash. A man cheats serially without shame or any care for the feelings of the wife, what the Society would say is for the woman to endure and still pamper him or look for a way to blame the woman. Fornication is gradually becoming a norm, if it isn't already. People, men especially can get to shamelessly boast about the number of women they had slept with and be hailed. The woman is expected to be the epitome of the perfect home maker, nurturer and of course should not be a liability to the man so she has to combine working with home making. The man should be there to provide his quota to the family finances and of course be the authoritarian in the home. Whether his decisions affects the wife negatively is no ones concern, he is the man. Being an authoritarian in the marriage is the Society's norm. The woman takes care of the home as well as her career, God help her she takes in a mature or even pre-puberty lady as maid, if she is married to a man with no self control, stories that touch the heart will come up and of course the Society will still blame the woman. Some men will shout, I don't want a liability as a wife, ask them if they can help their wives out with house chores, that would be another scenario. It isn't demeaning for the woman to help out with his own conventional role but it is demeaning for him to help her out with hers. Let me give you a case scenario, there is a couple with both husband and wife working, the man doesn't even know how the wife and children feeds, all he contributes to is the school fees which he of course still shares payment with the wife. He cheats openly on her. Even while heavily pregnant she was expected to take care of his numerous friends, relatives and what not. He can bring home any stranger or relative as he wishes without her consent, who will stay for as long as he or she wants and she must of course cook for too. She managed to buy herself a washing machine, but he prefers the handwashing method and said she must not use it, etc. This is a lot of women's reality. If she decides to leave such marriage, she would be the one seen as the deviant for not putting up with BS in the name of being submissive. Some people's definition of submissiveness is slavery. |

ponkitibobo: Thanks. Just my thought too. Or how else, ur ex of 20yrs get connected back childless. And the only encounter wit her produced a baby. This is mystery common sense cannot explain. Some things are bound to be. May she is d most appropriate woman my friend suppose to marry. Who knows. People should look beyond d surface. Things happen for reason beyond what we can see . Your last statement was way off. If you are sure it didn't happen to you, don't destroy their home more with such reasoning. Cos he cheated with an ex who gave birth for him, then maybe she was the one he should have married. You are just realizing that after 20 years abi. Let him leave his so he can marry the person he was supposed to marry. |

MISSCONGENIALITY: I don't really understand why guys are quick to call a lady a LovePeddler whenever they have issues. Even when they know those ladies very well.
What I think is women should stop feeling bad when they are labelled whores by men they should rather tell the man in question that their mother was the one who introduced them into it and they use to be ur room mates in the hotel where she got pregnant for him in that hotel room and wanted to abort him but you (lady) were the one who talked her into keeping the pregancy.
As if its not men that patronise those whores. It still boils down to the same thing, gender inequality. A man will have five baby mamas and will open his smelly mouth to call w woman a LovePeddler. They describe their female relatives. They are so used to having hoes around them they don't think twice before calling other women awful names. Immature boys. |

I don't just understand why any single lady would choose out of her myriads of admirers to go out with a married man. To me, it's just insane. Don't even go near before you start stupid tales of 'I love him', 'I don't care if the wife dies as long as I have him' , 'I feel used and I want him all for me' and all other balderdash.
I think it's just plain selfishness and covetousness, put yourself in the other woman's shoes, if you were that woman would you be happy knowing your husband is busy frolicking with some other woman outside? And they get so clingy wanting to reap where they didn't sow. I don't play nice with married men, sorry. They come about trying to paint their wives in bad light so as to have their way, it is up to you as a morally upright person to know better. But some ladies would even be the ones to throw themselves at married men. You want to build your happiness round someone else's sorrow.
See let me just stop here. |

EfemenaXY: First of all, this "friend" of yours hasn't got a shred of decency in his bones, but rather is a low-life-two-faced-scheming-coward
Secondly, he should free his soul and do the decent thing by informing his wife that not only did he get a married woman knocked up, he's also been secretly funding his love child (probably with his wife's money or their joint funds). And while he's on his confession spree, he should admit to Cynthia's husband that she (Cynthia), is raising another man's seed under her husband's roof.
Finally, this "friend" of yours should advice his wife to quickly get herself checked out at the nearest STD clinic for HIV and other sexual nasties he's exposed her to. I mean Cynthia's husband has been with several women, Cynthia herself probably with several partners, and same thing with your friend. So many mix of bodily fluids finding their way to the unsuspecting wife.
Tufiakwa. Only God will save women from men with wandering di.cks. Just the thought of so many STDs the unsuspecting woman is at risk of creeps me out. It is well |

drizzytee: Left out the major reason... Muzlimz are generally gullible. I have lived in the north for over 19 years and from observation EVERYTHING a Leader or a person of higher social class says is correct. A man once said in hausa -There goes the biggest Toyota camry, his inferior friends were like- eh!! gaskiya ne!! (very correct) 10mins later another camry passed and he showed the same set of people the camry saying that this new one was the latest and he made a mistake on the first one and they still yelled eh!! gaskiya ne!!
