The State House of Assembly complex has been locked down by joint security agents. As at the time this news was gathered, it has been proven that workers of the State House are barred from gaining entrance into the complex. 


Before now, the IGP had changed the Commissioner of Police who stopped the illegal invasion of the State House complex by APC thugs two days ago, thereby replacing him with Mr. Hyelasinda Musa Kimo. 


The reason for this change is a strategy to always give the five sacked APC Lawmakers access to the chambers each day they want to have their factional plenary sessions.

Senator Akpabio, Nsima Ekere Idongesit Ituen Thugs Move to Breach Peace at AKHA

Emerging scenes from the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly show that a former member of the Assembly, who was recently ostracized by the Federal High Court, Idongesit Ituen, acting in consonance with his mentor Senator Godswill Akpabio, has mobilized thugs to foment crises, by hindering movement into the state assembly complex.

They are allegedly armed and are wielding dangerous weapons they burn tyres and disrupt regular movement into the assembly complex.

Eye witness report that the thugs were heard charging loudly that without Idongesit Ituen, no one else can enter the complex.

Earlier today, the State Chapter of the PDP had issued a statement, based on intelligence report, that there were plans by the APC to use thugs and cause a breach of peace, thereby stalling proceedings at the chambers.

Gov Udom Emmanuel on his part has repeatedly warned politicians against violence, maintaining that nothing short of peace and unity is needed to move Akwa Ibom forward, irrespective of political affiliations or aspirations.

It would be recalled that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke had last week acted in accordance with the judgement of the Federal High Court, which vacated the seat of the former Itu Assemblyman for cross carpeting to another political party without any tangible reason.

Some anti riot policemen who arrived the scene moments ago, are yet to bring the situation under control.

Akwa Ibom State Governor , Udom Emmanuel , has presented 2019 budget of N 670. 72bn to the state House of Assembly for consideration.

It is made up of N 97. 09bn recurrent expenditure and N 445. 94bn for capital expenditure while consolidated revenue is N 127 . 69bn.

Emmanuel said the total projected recurrent revenue for the year was N 374 . 24bn as against N 289 bn estimated in 2018.

Christened ‘ Budget of Industrialisation for Poverty Alleviation , ’ Emmanuel said the budget was intended to build more industries and attract more direct foreign investment.

According to him , the 2019 budget is also predicated on oil benchmark of $ 60 per barrel at a production rate of N 2 . 3 m barrels per day, with estimated exchange rate of N 305 / US$.

The policy objectives of 2019 budget are to broaden and diversify the state ’ s resource base through improvements in the collection of Internally Generated Revenue, the governor said

It is also intended to boost production by local businesses through the promotion of trade, commerce and tourism between the state and the rest of the world and to develop agriculture through the supply of improved agricultural inputs, credit and extension services .

The governor added that policy objectives of the 2019 would also be to maintain a good working relationship with the central government in order to attract federal presence to the state.

Governor Udom Emmanuel revives Akwa Ibom State Health Delivery services

Despite the hype, the very first critical health sector of Akwa Ibom State was lying in ruins.

Aware that health is wealth, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel moved to revive the prostrate Healthcare delivery system.

The latest strategy is the engagement of Clinotech Group Canada as the new operators of Ibom Multi-Specialist Hospital (ISH) in Uyo, with the arrival of first batch of the first line expatriate personnel in strategic specialty departments to upgrade facilities and local capacity.

The Ibom Specialist Hospital formerly declared open her resumption of full services as from October 30, 2018. This hospital is a referral for most Nigerian who intend to travel abroad and Dr Harrison Ofiyai, MD; Ph.D. President/CEO Clinotech Group Canada, says they are poised to end medical tourism out of the country and rather redirect same to Akwa Ibom State.

Before now, our secondary Healthcare providers were virtually non existent and almost collapsed.
Two days after taking his oath of office, Governor Udom Emmanuel paid a visit to the 78 years old Premier St. Luke's Hospital Anua.

As a dividend of that working visit, a New Administrative Storey building block named after Dr Ann Ward was built and Commissioned by Governor Udom Emmanuel. Two other buildings were completely renovated including the Gynecology block and the Male block and internal roads in the hospital were tarred and the perimeter fence renovated. These feats were achieved in a record 70 days in office.

Governor Emmanuel raised the bar with the Etinan General Hospital, which he completely rehabilitated, upgraded, and equipped with modern hi tech health care facilities.

The next step was the Ituk Mbang General Hospital which has been remodelled and upgraded courtesy of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The administration approved considerable medical supplies and consumables which were distributed to the General hospitals including Immanuel Hospital Eket.

Ikono General Hospital which was a sorry sight has been overhauled, refurbished, repositioned and upgraded for efficient secondary Healthcare delivery.

The General Hospitals, in Ikot Okoro, Oruk Anam Local Government Area and Iquita Oron are undergoing renovation which has reached advanced stages and will soon be completed.

All these were done to reinforce and consolidate the Primary Healthcare centre's which have been repositioned.
For the first time, we now have a Board constituted to oversee Primary health care reform and services led by Dr Martin Akpan.

Governor Udom Emmanuel truly cares and is performing. Let's support him to do more.

Who is Buhari to summon my Governor?

OBARO CHIEFTANCY TUSSLE: COURT RULES THAT MOTION NOT RIPE FOR HEARING, URGES STATUS QUO TO REMAIN.

A Lokoja high court Thursday ruled that a motion of interlocutory injunction brought before it by the Ilajo Royal family against Chief Dele Owoniyi as the Obaro of kabba was not riped for hearing.

The Ilajo Royal family through its counsel, Lawal Rabana ( SAN) had on Tuesday October 16 filed an interlocutory motion to restrain the state government from coronating Owoniyi on Saturday as the Obaro of kabba on the ground that the said appointment was politically motivated as Owoniyi did not come from the Royal family.

Chief Owoniyi through his own counsel Akinlaja (SAN) consequently filed a notice of preliminary objection on the issue of jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter.
When the case came up for hearing Thursday, the trial judge Justice S.O Otu after hearing the arguments of both counsels said the rule of the court is that respondents have seven days within which to respond to motion.

The court therefore ruled that the motion on notice and the notice of preliminary objection brought before it are not ripe for hearing.

The court consequently ordered that no party in the case should take any further step until the case is brought for hearing.

In the word of the trial judge " I will need to emphasize that it is trite that where parties have cone before the court in its exercise of its statutory empowered adjudicatory functions, patties have always been aware that if any or all of them should take further steps to foist a fait accompli while the suit is pending, the other party is at liberty to urge the court to come heavily on that party and have the offending conduct nullified.
" This is the position of the law in this country, I need not say more" he added.
The judge thereafter adjourned the case till 12th November for hearing.
