Ephesians 1:12 God has given us the power of choice, but once we have made the choice, it has power over us. The Bible is filled with illustrations of decisions with which people were faced and the result of the choices they made. Joseph chose to forgive those who had cruelly mistreated him rather than harbor bitterness. Samson chose to follow lustful desires rather than God's plan for his life. Abraham chose to trust God and demonstrate that trust by being willing to offer his son as a sacrifice. Judas chose to betray Christ for financial gain. Of the two thieves crucified on either side of Jesus, one chose to mock Him while the other chose to trust Him. The choices of Joseph, Abraham, and the thief who trusted Christ brought unbelievably wonderful results. God honored Joseph's faithfulness and forgiveness by raising him from the prison to the palace and reuniting him with his father and brothers. God honored Abraham's faith by providing a substitute sacrifice and blessing his ensuing generations with strength and multiplication. God honored the thief's choice by promising him a home in Heaven (just as He promises to anyone who will trust Him for salvation). On the other hand, the choices of Samson, Judas, and the mocking thief brought consequences that they did not foresee when they made their decisions. Both Samson and Judas ended their lives by suicide. Samson lost the delivering power of God and ended his life a slave-his eyes gouged out and doing the job of an animal while being mocked by God's enemies. The unbearable guilt Judas felt after betraying Christ brought him to the end of a noose where he hanged himself. The mocking thief will forever be regretting his decision to reject Christ as he spends eternity in Hell. God has given each of us the power of choice, but once we have made our choice, we have no power to choose the consequences. Consider Eve's choice in the Garden of Eden. Even after God gave Adam and Eve every good thing in the Garden of Eden, when Satan tempted Eve to take of the one tree God had forbidden, she yielded. Satan suggested to Eve that she could be her own god, making her own decisions based on her own reasoning: "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:4-5). This temptation to be ones own god appeals to many Christians today. They want to be the one in control. God does give us a free will-power to choose who we will obey-just as He gave to Adam and Eve. But notice that once Adam and Eve made their choice, they had no control of the consequences. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" (Romans 5:12). When you are faced with temptation, remember the power of choice. You can choose to yield to temptation, but once you have made that choice, you cannot choose the consequences. On the other hand, as a Christian, you can choose to yield to the Holy Spirit (Romans 6:13). Once you have made that choice, you will find the consequences are the unabated blessings of God (Romans 6:22). Choose today, through the power of grace, to yield to the Holy Spirit. |
How does one tackle a sin that reoccur every time? Even after prayer and consecration, when you still find your self in sins that you are aware of, what's the way out?? |

LETTER OF AN AGGRIEVED NIGERIAN TO ALL NIGERIANS. This is not a letter to probably support a political party or a letter to throw shades at anybody. It's a letter with free mind and sincere heart. The following questions I need to ask at first; When as a country will we be realistic and non sentimental? When as Nigerians will we approach matters correctly? When as Nigerians will we understand that we are for one another? When As Nigerians will we eradicate political sentiments and tribalism? When, I ask when ![]() Hasn't it crossed our minds why we tend to remain the same despite some vision moved leaders that we've got in the past and now? Isn't it high time we started thinking straight? I was ashamed to be a Nigerian when comments arising from current corruption fight by the president show that Nigerians, at about 90 percent of us are not real. As wicked as we could be, no matter the mistakes of Mr President, as long as he's from our side, we tend to always support. If appointments are made and not our people are appointed, we flare up. Won't you be ashamed of that Nigerian who boldly could say the SGF was suspended so that suspension of the NIA DG won't look bias? Won't you have thought in like manner that the Nigerian who boldly said all money recoveries are propaganda? Won't you feel like the world is against us when the so called leader of tomorrow could arrogantly say the President isn't working? A political party which could not successfully tackle corruption advised that the SGF AND DG NIA be arrested. Who will be the first to call Mr President a tyrant? Where exactly shall we be selfless? Nigeria A country where someone served a jail term abroad and comes back but to be given a chieftaincy title. A country where monies are being kept underground for personal use. A country where banks are no longer safe but private houses are better. A country where everyone wants to 'chop' from the national cake. A country where hate governs the heart of many; party interest, selfish interest and sectional interest. A country where trust exists not. Yet! Yet! We shout, this doesn't happen abroad! Are they as deluded as we are I am sometimes forced to believe that as black as we are, so is the brain of many of us. We're behind yet we disregard moving forward. Nigerians! Fellow Nigerians. Let's love this country. There must be a sacrifice. Let us in love and peace make use of the social media. Enough of wailing. Enough of the hate. Let's come together as one. It's my desire that this letter captures a larger number of Nigerians. Thank you as you share. God bless Nigeria! From a CONCERNED NIGERIAN |

The House of Representatives has called on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB to extend the registration deadline for the registration of 2017 UTME. This came after the motion raised by Danburan Nuhu (Kano-APC). According to Mr. Nuhu during the 2016 UTME exercise, about 1.6 million applicants registered for the UTME and about one million passed. He stated that the 2017 exercise might reach 2 million across the country given the growing number of applicants. He noted that some of the approved registration centres are registering only 250 applicants at a time; most of them do not have enough space and adequate number of computers. He urged JAMB to specify the requirements including safety measures, that approved centres need to have to participate in the conduct of UTME Computer Based Test and ensure to deploy safety equipment to each centre to forestall any incidence of stampede due to overcrowding. The motion was unanimously adopted by the House and the committee on basic education was mandated to direct JAMB to comply with the resolutions. The JAMB had earlier stated that it has no plans of extending the registration deadline but with this development, let's watch how it all plays out. Source myschool.com.ng |
Major reasons internet will continue to make us deluded and stupid. It's something to be learned it's another thing to be wise. I believe some reasons people should try get someone explain to you. The fact that this was picked from his sermon, was that all he said? Probably many of us think Pastor Adeboye is like other men who will take measures against you.... .lol.... He won't.. .. Remember God will fight for his people... The same way you all yarn nonsense about Bishop Oyedepo and your lives keep on being metaphysical. Who are we to call them to order.... Are they our great grandfather's mate? The call of God on them make them spiritually older.. ... Every thing from the alter is from God.. ......so who are we to question God? Someone will say are they all original? Whether there's fake or not, that isn't yours to judge.. ... I am just surprised though....that we aren't yet wise.. .. He said marry a wife on facebook and lose her on YouTube. Naturally, no one understands, can't I add humour to my sermon.. ..lol! Just wise up.. ... That was just part of a sermon.. ...maybe an atomic element of the sermon.. ...okay sha Father forgive them! |

The Management of the University of Lagos has said it didn’t issue dress codes for its students as widely reported in the media. The Deputy Registrar, Information, University of Lagos, Prof. Toyin Adebule, said this in a statement on Thursday. There had been reports that the school in a memo has approved new dress code for students. The memo claimed the students has been outlawed from wearing right-fitted clothes and mini skirts. The University has however said it did not approve new dress codes, while stating that it encourages decent dressing. He said, “The University of Lagos wishes to inform the general public that it has not approved or implemented any new dress code for its students. The general public is hereby advised to discountenance any campaign in the print, electronic or social media claiming that the University of Lagos has introduced a new dress code for its students. All such claims are false and do not emanate from the university. “However, it is pertinent to state that the university encourages students to dress decently and our watchword is, ‘Dress as you want to be addressed’.” |
