PoliticsCorruption Allegation: Buhari Suspends Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari by Hardeysolution(op): 5:58pm On Oct 28, 2016

President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended his embattled Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari. Kyari has been in the news lately over allegations of receiving N500 million from telecoms giant, MTN in order to facilitate a reduction of a fine handed to them by the NCC.

President Buhari set up a panel to look into the allegations and reports indicate the panel recommended his suspension.

Presidency directed the Inspector General Idris to investigate the role of chief of staff in N500m MTN scandal

– Mr Kyari was accused of receiving a bribe from MTN Telecommunications Company to influence the government with the fine put against the company

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly ordered the Special Investigation Panel of the Nigerian Police Force to investigate his chief of staff Alhaji Abba Kyari over bribery accusations.

The Vanguard reports that the investigation might not be unconnected to the supposed N500million bribery money said to have been paid to the Kyari by the officials of South African owned MTN Telecommunications Company with the intent that the chief of staff effect on the incumbent government to discontinue its heavy position on the $5billion fine.

The source, who asked not to be named, said: “Officials of MTN, who were invited and interviewed over the allegation, have vehemently denied that any such money emanated from the telecommunication company and that since the beginning of the $5billion fine saga, nobody had been approached for bribe.

“Another thing is that if such volume of money was paid through the banks, discreet investigation of financial dealings on the part of MTN and on the part of the COS has so far not revealed any transactions of such”.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), leveled a $5 billion fine on MTN for failing to disconnect subscribers with unregistered phone lines bought before January 2012.

Sahara Reporters recently published the report claiming that the officials of the telecommunications company gave a bribe of N500million to Abba Kyari, to interfere and use his closeness to the Nigerian leader, to force the government to give MTN a safe landing.

It comes as the telecommunications giant failed to fight the huge fine imposition, initially through the courts and later through diplomatic means.

The presidency apparently worried by the accusation is said to have directed the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to probe the allegation and come out with findings regarding the accusation.

IT began as an innocent question but soon degenerated into a heated argument. And what is this question, one might? Between Lagos and Ogun, which has more industries? The Lagos fans would not imagine any state in the country taking the lead in terms of commerce and industrialisation. They were ready to put their last kobo on the line.

They readily cited the ports and some industries around the Ogba and Ikeja axis. But after a thorough analysis, it was generally agreed that Ogun State is now the industrial hub of the nation. The state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun attested to this recently during the administration’s second anniversary.

Senator Amosun would tell anyone who cares to listen that Ogun has the largest number of industries and that the state is now a preferred choice destination for investment. And this boast is not hot air. An accountant of repute with many years of experience, Gov. Amosun has been able to muscle industries in the state which hitherto paid taxes and levies to the Lagos State to put their money where their mouth is. And he has succeeded in this regard such that from a base of an Internal Generated Revenue, IGR, of N730m as at May 2011 every month, it rose to N3.8b in May 2013 and is still counting.

Thus, according to the Governor,”today, Ogun State is not only open for business, it is business”.

For him, the economic gains are there for all to see. With 123 companies showing readiness to locate their manufacturing outfits in the state and 32 of this figure already on ground at different levels of operation, while 27 have fully commenced operations, Ogun no doubt is gradually becoming the hottest ‘industrial hub’ in town. Perhaps, it is against this backdrop that the State government says its Bureau of Lands and Survey is being restructured to make it more efficient with transparent and accountable operations.

What i'm saying in essence is that, all schools in Nigeria are supposed to use the same method all through. This will give a candidate the privilege of choosing whichever school interests him or her.

With this situation of using different method of screening, an aspirant will have to sit down and start calculating which school's method will favour him the most. This will further increase the number of candidates choosing a particular school.

Lastly, i compared the methods to give aspirants an insight on which school's method will favour them the most and to choose rightly in the subsequent years.

I hope i've answered your question. Thanks for stopping by. Peace!

Gov. Amosun: Ogun state revenue drops 74%

The treasury of the Ogun state government has gone leaner these days, as the gloomy Nigerian economy takes its toll.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun at an interactive session with various groups and citizens of the state on Sunday dropped the shocking news that the state revenue has fallen by 74 per cent. At its zenith, Ogun state was making N6billion monthly from internally generated revenue up till 2014.

But on Sunday, Governor Amosun did not give the comparative revenue figures as of now, while enumerating the various bills his government pays to run its schools.

“Things are not like when we came in. What we are collecting now is 74 per cent less than what we were collecting in 2011 when we came into office.

” Imagine paying almost N800M to N900M monthly to our schools and it is interesting to know that we have the largest number of institutions in the country and most of them are state owned.

“We pay Olabisi Onabanjo University,OOU N85.5M every month and it was paid for four years. We have also paid backlog of 18-19 months. If you multiply this by 12 and times by 48, it means that in four years,we have paid over N40billion to them. You will agree with me that it is not easy, but we will not relent.

“TASUED with total number of students of almost 20,000 collects between N50M to N60M monthly,MAPOLY, Abeokuta of about 25,000 students receives N40M,OOUTH,Sagamu,N190M, DS Adegbenro,Itori, about N8M.

“The primary school teachers are not there, they take away nothing less than N2.1billion monthly and if we added the secondary staff to it,it gives you something around N3.2billion.

President Muhammadu Buhari has begun to fish for replacements for under-performing and ‘unknown’ ministers in his cabinet, Sahara Reporters writes.

It reports that the move follows outcry that has trailed the performances of his ministers in the last one year.

This development comes just days after the controversy that trailed an interview granted by Aisha to the BBC Hausa Service in which she claimed that unknown people have taken over her husband’s cabinet.

While the President did reply his wife in the most unusual manner, it however gave him some concern over where his government is headed and he has now decided to weed out ‘useless’ elements from his kitchen cabinet.

While there are yet to be names mentioned for those to leave the cabinet, expected to be high on the least are ministers who have been embroiled in scandals and those who are consistently under-performing.

NAIJ.com recalls that President Buhari was accused by a veteran northern politician Junaid Mohammed of turning the government into a family business.

It however remains to be seen if the President would correct this assertion as well.

PoliticsFor Freezing My $15 Million, EFCC Should Pay Me Extra $200 Million-patience by Hardeysolution(op): 4:45pm On Oct 26, 2016
A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday fixed December 7 to hear a suit by ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan, against the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, seeking to unfreeze her account.
Apart from the EFCC, other respondents are Skye Bank and a former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Waripama-Owei Dudafa.
Also joined in the suit are Pluto Property and Investment company Ltd, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Ltd, Transocean Property and Investment Company Ltd and Globus Integrated Service Ltd.
The ex-first lady is demanding $200 million from the commission as damages for infringing on her rights.
She is also urging the court to issue an order discharging the freezing order and restraining the EFCC and its agent from further placing a freezing order on the said accounts.
When the case was called on Wednesday, Rotimi Oyedepo, announced appearance for the EFCC, while Granville Abibo appeared for Mrs. Jonathan.
Addressing the court, Mr. Oyedepo informed the judge that the case was coming up for the first time, adding that some of the respondents had yet to be served with the court’s processes.
He said the case was not yet “ripe for hearing”, having been served with the processes on October 19 and is yet to file a response.

His submission was, however, not contested by counsel to the plaintiff.
Consequently, Justice Babs Kuewumi fixed December 7 for hearing.
In an affidavit in support deposed to by Sammie Somiari, a lawyer, he averred that on March 22, 2010, she (Jonathan) had opened five different accounts with Skye Bank with the assistance of one Damola Bolodeoku and Dipo Oshodi.
He averred that the account mandate forms were duly completed and signed by her.
According to him, Mrs. Jonathan subsequently discovered that apart from one of the accounts that bore her name, the other four accounts were opened in the name of four companies which were companies belonging to Dudafa.
He said she also observed that the ATM cards of the said accounts were issued in the names of the companies, adding that she complained to Dudafa, who promised to effect the necessary changes.
He said Dipo Oshodi also promised to effect the necessary changes.
Mr. Somiari averred that Mrs. Jonathan is not a director, shareholder or participant in these companies and the funds in the said accounts were solely owned and operated by her.
“Dudafa does not own any part of the funds in the said accounts.”
According to the deponent, the Skye Bank official (Mr. Oshodi) did not effect the instructions of the plaintiff to change the name of the said accounts to her name, in spite of repeated request.
He stated that notwithstanding the refusal of the bank to effect the necessary changes, she had been using the said ATM cards without any interference.
The deponent averred that sometime in July, Mrs. Jonathan discovered that the ATM cards were not functioning, and immediately contacted the bank, who informed her that a “No debit/freezing order” had been placed on the accounts.
“On further enquiry, the bank informed her that the accounts were frozen on the directive of EFCC as a result of ongoing investigation in relation to Mr. Dudafa.”
Jonathan, therefore, contended that she was never arrested or invited by the EFCC prior to the freezing order placed on the accounts.

She further contends that the freezing order on her funds on the directive of EFCC without an order of the court is unlawful and illegal.
Consequently, Mrs. Jonathan is seeking an order of court, directing the unfreezing of her account forthwith and also wants an order restraining the EFCC from taking further steps in relation to the said account pending the determination of the suit.

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday called on the federal government to accord a special status to his state, explaining that about 423 companies with a minimum of over N2 billion investment capital are caurrently operating from the state.

Out of these companies, according to the governor, over 100 have opened shops since the beginning of his administration adding that 14 new ones are in the process of inauguration.
Amosun disclosed during the opening of eighth National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment going on in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The governor said Ogun State was next to Lagos State in terms of non-oil revenue to the federal government, adding that more companies have their operational base in the state.
The success, according to Amosun, was not unconnected with the realisation of partnering the organised private sectors at boosting the potential of the state.

He said: “To this end, our administration has continued to maintain and expand on existing infrastructures while new ones are being constructed. The results of these infrastructural developments are seen in the increase in investment inflow into Ogun State.

“We have continued to reap the benefits of our prudent financial management and re-engineered our internally generated revenue (IGR) drive. We have increased our IGR from the modest sum of N700 million monthly which we inherited at the beginning of our administration in 2011, to over N6billion per month in 2014, though, currently reduced to an average of N4.8 billion monthly due to the current economic recession in the country.

“As of now, our state is second only to Lagos State in the ratio of the monthly IGR to the monthly FAAC allocation. This has allowed us to sustain payment of workers’ salaries, while also continuing with other development projects in all other sectors of our economy.

“According to the 2014 Ease of Doing Business Subnational rankings, our state recorded the most improvement of all the 36 states in Nigeria. This was compared to the states, very poor ranking of 34th at the inception of our administration in 2011.

“We also introduced the concept of a “One Stop Shop” to assist investors in their interactions with government particularly during their early stage. I am happy to report that about 423 major companies/industries are presently operating in the state, while over 100 new significant companies have opened shop since the advent of our administration.

“Even in our current harsh economic climate, another 14 are currently in the process of commissioning their industries/ factories. Indeed, we hope that President Muhammadu Buhari will help to inaugurate some of these industries before the end of the year. Ogun State is now officially the industrial hub of the nation.”
