For those blaming APC and president Tinubu for the hardship in the country, are you all aware that UK and Japan are currently in economic recession? Is it APC and Tinubu that is ruling both nations? Nobody should blame APC and Tinubu for the rot the PDP government of Jonathan caused. What we are suffering today is the result of the Jonathan government's recklessness. Peter Obi and his PDP gang brought Nigeria to her knees. May God help our dear president Tinubu to fix the country like he did in Lagos.

LMAO, STOOPID.
Y`all are still blaming GEJ after 9 years? You are all very unfortunate people.

Education / Is An MBA From Babcock Worth It? by harley88(m): 10:26pm On Nov 23, 2023
Hello Bright minds.

Please i need advice and guidance on my current quagmire.

I want to pursue an MBA from Babcock, i currently have four years work experience in two financial institutions and graduated with a 2:2 from Unilag.

First question: Is an MBA in Strategy from Babcock good and is it worth it? Considering the price.
Second question: Would this give me an edge to get nice jobs in the likes of Transcorp, Heirs, Mckinsey, Big 4s, Oil and Gas companies around Products, Business and Partnerships career lines?
Third question: If i were to pursue a DBA in the US after the MBA, are there funding opportunities/ scholarships from the DBA programs?
Fourth question: If i wanted to pursue a PhD instead of a DBA, can i apply for a PhD with an MBA, to the best of my knowledge i can only apply for a Phd with an MSc degree.

Now i know some might say why not go for a Masters, unfortunately none of the schools i have interest in have their MSc programs starting until next Sept which is a long period of time i don't want to waste. I need to get something educational doing with my time.

I know these are loads of questions, i would really appreciate if i can get answers to the best of your individual knowledge. Please answer any question you know a sure answer to.

Thank you all.

Health / Bumps On My Penis by harley88(m): 11:20pm On Mar 13, 2023
Hello people,

I have been having these growths on my penis shaft, it started as just one growth then became about 5 now. It’s just painless and there. Nothing else.
I am bothered now cos it’s spreading.

I went to the hospital and the doctor said I should see a dermatologist, unfortunately I couldn’t cos he wasn’t around. So he just prescribed Podophylin for me saying it’s Warts even though he didn’t see it. I am using the cream though which doesn’t appear to be working cos the the bumps have increased in number.

I have googled images of warts and it doesn’t really look like one. Abeg who has an idea what this could be and what treatment I can use for it??

UPDATE
I am giving this update for the sake of those that might encountered this situation in the future. So this wasn`t warts or any STI, i think it was just a skin reaction to something.

Anyways i used green tea oil and iodine and every bump dried out in the space of 1-2 weeks. Just use iodine first to clean out the area, the apply the tea oil after. Leave your blokos make fresh air blow am wella.

Or you go for the naija used 2013/14 Honda Accord. Change no suppose remain.
These cars are easy to maintain and also command some prestige.

I would have advised VW Jetta 2013, but maintenance might be an issue esp for a first time owner.

You for use that 10k buy a wok or correct nonstick pot so you’d actually achieve your stir fry noddles cos there’s nothing stir fryish about what you cooked here. No be water dey boil for the pot.

Anyways nice trial but you really can’t achieve a stir fry with that pot and amount of noodles.

Stir fry should have your noodles strands looking like this or even better

I like Chinese food. I always love the flavor. So I decided to see what 10k can get me if i cook instead of ordering from my regular place, which cost like 8-10k for just 2 Regular boxes of Rice/Noodles.

Ingredients:
Soysauce
Oyster sauce
Eggs
Lettuce
Carrot
Tomato
Pepper
Green spring/ onions
Peas
Ginger

Pork chops
Chicken breast
Indomie fried Oriental and Relish Noodles.

Chop up the ingredients.
Boil/Fry the eggs and set aside.
Boil/fry meat or protein choice.
Steam your noodles and then sieve and set aside.
Add oil to the pan and stir fry the chopped ingredients and then add the eggs and then slowly add the Soy sauce and Oyster sauce, might give it a brownish look.

Stir fry together with the noodles.
Wait to simmer for 5 minutes
Add meat or protein choice.

Serve. Enjoy.

Best served with a chilled bottle of Viju Milk chocolate/Red Wine/ Orange or Apple Juice.

Just quit weed and cigarettes a month ago after about 3 years. Don’t really take weed much but that cigar ehhnnnnnn….. I still get the urge to smoke but I use gospel songs esp Victoria Orenze spirit chant to push it back. Addictions are really bad people, pls it’s better not to start than start and try to stop.
Went drinking with my guy who smokes and upon all his smoking there, I didn’t take any. That’s major development to me.
To quit, you really need God and serious discipline. Quitting was my 2023 goal since January, and this is my just quitting by August.

So what happens to the people selling motorcycle and the spare parts? What happens to the mechanics who repair and service the bikes? What happens to their families who are being fed from the proceeds of the business? What happens to the passengers they commute daily?

Was any provisions made for those affected or does the government wants to create more criminals with this action?

The govt can’t make provisions for such. They can continue the bike business or spare parts business in other nearby state.

Bro,

I currently earn about 340k every month here In Nigeria, which is way lower than your 650k. Was planning to japa to UK as well but after serious thoughts and researching, decided to stay for a year or two more, acquire some certifications so I can get higher pay like yours while trying Canada PR.

The UK isn’t really all rosy as YouTube videos make it seem. Why do you think almost every Nigerian student in the UK have YouTube channels?? All to make more money cos things ain’t so rosy there.

Bro, you are earning well here in Naija esp if you are still single and young. You’d live a good life here at least until a Canadian Express PR works out.

Only thing that could discourage you from the PR Is if you are well over 30. I’m in my mid twenties, na why I dey focus on Canada PR.

Best of luck in your decision. Remember, money dey naija wella. Trust me on this. You’d make more money in Nigeria than in the abroad, and you’d make it faster.

I think I’d work towards a German school or Canada PR. Cos I planned paying just about half of my Uk school fees then go and hustle the rest there.

I know the process for German schools but pls what’s the process for Canadian PR??

Ain’t doing bad here in Nigeria btw. I’m 26 with the years experience and currently working towards a certification. Pls what’s my chances of easily getting a Canadian PR and what’s the timeline??

I wish to secure Sales and Business Development jobs in the Oil and Gas industry.

I'm currently running my MBA Marketing, and I posses BSc. International Studies.

I'm a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management Chartered and planning to take my Certification from the National Institute of Marketing Nigeria next year.

Also, I posses Health Safety & Environmental Management certifications from the British International Safety Organisation.

Diploma in French Language from the Ministry of Education - France.

What other qualifications do I require to enable me secure a job Marketing job in the Oil and Gas industry?

Thanks

Hello Bro,

Most times, an MBA is not necessary if you don’t have up to 5 years experience in that particular field. Anyways, since you have started , nothing spoil.

Try getting any major Sales job, doesn’t have to be in the oil industry. Banks, FMCGs and the rest are good options.

Make use of LinkedIn and connect with officials in the industry you are interested, esp the HR guys. Might take a while, but something should come up soonest. Sales jobs are always available all the time.

I’m also trying to enter into the Sales/Marketing field from Information Security.

Ignore those illiterates above saying nonsense, they are mostly blockheads.

My sister is 26 years and a graduate of Statistics from a federal university in the South East. There is an issue, more like a blessing. She had been writing aptitude tests since and failing but something remarkable is happening this year. She has been passing all the graduate trainee tests and interviews this year. She is at the final stage of Cerdar group, Stanbic, Meristem and Oilserv graduate trainee program. Just waiting for offer letters. She got an offer into Wema bank graduate trainee but rejected it because of 2 years bond. She is currently in Gt Bank graduate training school.

The issue is that KPMG just invited her for their test which is physical on Saturday. The Gt bank program runs from Monday-Saturday. I have been trying so hard to convince her to take take permission from the tutors at Gtb and go to write the KPMG test. She refused that she does not like Accounting as she read Statistics but she was open to it before this year and had been writing tests of different audit firms. I prefer KPMG to Stanbic and GT and want her to give it a shot.

She is 26 and this is her last chance at any graduate trainee program. Please what do you guys think? She is confused too.

KPMG ( yet to write the test)
GTB ( in training school already)
Meristem ( Waiting for offer letter)
Stanbic ( Waiting for offer letter)

Which among the above listed is the better choice for a graduate of statistics and is the KPMG test worth taking the risk. Please I need opinions from Nairalanders as I told her to allow me take my time to think about it.

Mods, please push to front page for more experienced professionals to help us. Thanks

For banks, she should certainly go for Stanbic IBTC. It’s a good bank to work with.

KPMG is a very good choice though. The international name It carries is good on cvs.
The pay might not be as high as Stanbic though.

All in all, I don’t think she can make a mistake picking any of the four companies above. She must be a brilliant person to have gotten all four so she’d be Fine.

Hi people.

Gong straight to the point, I’m a full banker in one of the back office departments that are not business oriented, if our know what I mean.

I have been offered a slot in the Corporate Banking department of the bank, I need to know if it’s worth it. Pls note this is a marketing department as well but for corporate bodies.

What are the pros and cons of this department and also note I don’t like my current department. It is boring as hell and I do the same thing everyday.

Bankers in the house, kindly advice.

See, brother let me give you a heart to heart conversation.

At present, I’m currently in University of St. Andrews in UK. Before I left the country last year, my salary was in excess of 400k net. Mind you, I’m just 27 and unmarried.

Why did I tell you all these stories: abroad is an uncertain enterprise. I may have strong academic record but I am a lawyer. It is extremely competitive here. Even if you’re in tech, there are thousands of Indians and other immigrants flocking into Europe every single year. It is way more competitive than people make it seem.

You’re not guaranteed of success here. Earning 9 - 10£ per hour may seem big when you convert it to Naira but it is not. When other expenses eat into your income, you may not be left with so many things after everything. Services are so ridiculously expensive here. And combining school with work during winter is hell. Real hell.

But should that stop you from coming over. I don’t think it should. The quality of life you will have here is top notch. You may meet amazing people and the masters you get here would definitely boost your chances of getting a job either here or back home.

All I just have to advise you is that you shouldn’t be slave to abroad. It’s not everyone abroad that will be more successful than those in Nigeria. Some in Nigeria will make more money and become more successful than some of us. Don’t run out of the country just because others are doing it and out of frustration. I hope this helps

Thanks a lot, it sure helps

But personally I think you should stay and survey for a bit and keep saving saving , so you can move out in your own terms ,and not in debt , when it’s time to leave.

Thanks, that’s the new plan

I didn't even bother to finish reading your epistle when you said you make 200k and you are still thinking of traveling to God knows where.

Well, for those who have never traveled are so passionate about it, but i must tell you the truth in 3 ways

1.. the most boring place in the world is Europe. i lived in Madrid(Spain) for 8 months. i regretted my migration. I only left a small business that wasn't paying me up to 50k a month, when you are eating 200k.

2.. it's easier to succeed in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world. Yes read that again. people that traveled and make it, if they can apply the same energy here, they'd be twice richer. This is a story for another day

3.. Ask God his plan for your life. that's if you are not an atheist

I just told someone about that number 2 some days back. It’s easier to make it here.

Concerning UK, I wouldn't advice you travel if you don't have enough money. The masters there is different from many European countries and America.
You'll be left with almost 50% of the fees that will be paid before the end of the masters program which is about 12 months. Also, most students are not allowed to work more than 20hrs/week when school is in session. Trust me bro, it's gonna be hard raising that fees. You have a good job in Nigeria, just save for few more years till you can afford about 80% of the fees on arrival. That would make your tjme there better and you'd go through less stress.

same thing I dey reason.

I won't support borrowing money for the move except if you are going to study hot IT courses like software engineering, AI,Cloud computing etc or you are going there as a permanent resident.
If you are going to study in demand IT courses, chances are that you will get a job quickly, stabilize and pay off your debt.
But if it is just ordinary course,it is not advisable as getting a job quickly is not guaranteed.
Abroad is very sweet and easy but it depends on how you arrive and what skills you have so people need to be very careful. There is a difference between moving abroad as a permanent resident and moving abroad as a student without rich parents.

But the good thing for you is that you are young and still have the time to recover from setbacks. If you look at it and still want to take the risk, do it now before hitting 30 cos your chances of settling down properly abroad reduces with age.

I certainly plan making the move before 30, probably 28. Been trying to apply for an IT course but the requirements haven’t been in my favor.
