When I woke up from my daze, I realised that he was talking, nah, he was actually speaking to us and his hand was outstretched, probably waiting to shake ours.

I quickly mustered courage and took his hand into mine. Let me tell you a little secret about me; I have always prided myself to be the akpos ( that is strong head) of the group, never smitten by any guy at all. But even after all these years I still can’t believe that Ben got to me the way he did.

Back to Nenye, the day she met Ben was supposedly the beginning of her existence(her words not mine). I never knew that Ben’s thorns stuck deeply into her skin until she started making efforts to lure me to my adviser’s home.

It all began one sunny sunday afternoon, we had just returned from church and I was too tired to cook. I was just lying down on the bed waiting for the worst to happen when she came to me and said

“babe, see as we dey here and hunger wan kill us, come naa make we go chop for mumcy’s house”

'mumcy' being Mrs B, my adviser.

I was shocked not just from the hunger but also from the fact that Nenye actually suggested that we go out to eat. Nenye DETESTS eating out much less a lecturer’s place.

But I was too hungry to argue, I barely grabbed my bag and ran to meet her as she was already half way across the street calling a taxi.

We got to Mrs B’s place just in time for lunch. The house was just amazing, from the paintings on the wall to the furniture, everything was just classy. You won't need a soothsayer to tell you that there was money in the family. One thing I admired in Mrs B was her impeccable taste, elegance and the fact that she is undeniably classy so I couldn't help but fall in love with her and another thing that did the trick of me falling in love with her was the khloe designer bag she gave me for the previous year christmas celebrations.

Few mintues after we arrived, we were ushered into the dinning and served with white rice and the steaming ofe akwu.
I immediately dived into it that I didn’t even notice that Nenye’s exictement dropped exponentially immediately Mrs B said that Ben wasn’t around but I did notice that she didn’t eat the food that was ‘the reason’ why we came, but I didn’t mind much as that meant that I get more to eat.

She started asking me to hurry that she had an assignment due for submission the next day.(Omo see this babe ooo, we no get food for house and she come see plenty making sense food, come dey do shakara. I said in my mind and kept on teaching the mountain of food before me the lesson of its life).

Thirty mintues later, we were on our way out when Ben drove in and mrs B asked him to drop us off.

Nenye’s excitement picked race and started growing again (this I noticed too) and I had starting linking the dots to make a complete sense, Nenye likes Ben. Ben opened the front seat for me but before I could enter, Nenye was already comfortably seated in the front and chattering away like a chatterbox (which she is normally NOT) so I opted for the back seat.

I kept mute throughout their conversation except when directly spoken to. I nearly screamed out loud, though I muttered “what a slut” when i heard Nenye asking Ben if she could take him out for lunch sometime to appreciate him for giving us a ride home.

"He tell you say he need your special appreciation? Help me ask nenye oooooooo" *just thinking aloud*

But he laughed it off saying that a ride home for two beautiful girls like us was a privilege and honour for him ( guess he is a gentleman after all).

He tried severally to include me in their conversations but I refused; guess am the strong-head after all. I breathed a sign of relief when he pulled his car to a halt in-front of our house, I quickly opened the door to escape because I felt so betrayed that Nenye was flirting openly with mrs B’s little bro, but he beat me to it as he quickly came out of the driver's seat and opened the door for me and then gave me the shock of my life when he said

"would u do me the honour of joining me for dinner tomorrow?"

I was speechless, the only sound my mouth could make was " ME"? Which coincided with Nenye’s own voice which clearly dropped one word "HER"?

After all these years, I still wonder how I managed not to faint because at that point, I wished the ground could open at my command, because if it did, I would have asked it to open and swallow either me or Nenye.( But readers who would you have wanted the ground to swallow?)

I asked myself a million questions at once, why would Ben ask me to dinner if he doesn’t like me?, here I was thinking that he liked Nenye since they had a lot in common and the both of them had been talking all afternoon.
So he does like me, but why? How can he choose plain me over Nenye.
Which man will see Nenye and not have his heart race faster. Is this the popular April fool game or what? If this is a game, it wasn’t funny at all because this is my heart we are talking about here, I was so lost in my thoughts that I forgot that people were actually waiting for my answer, what will my answer be?

Ben, every girl’s dream man just asked me out and is waiting for my answer, what will it be, whatever my answer will be would affect someone, if i say yes, it will affect a friendship that I cherish so much, though Nenye is a lovalable person, her motto is "whatever Nenye wants, Nenye gets" and that part of her is scary, and if i say No, I will lose a chance with a man who is so tushed, so hot, so well mannered, a gentleman, well educated and versatile( if you hear am talk ehh, you go fall in love abi lust, omo see accent) and I think am attracted to him, I closed my eyes and said a silent prayer to God. Then i opened my eyes and gave my answer.

EPISODE 2

Tola was devastated; what exactly does the counsellor by that? What else was she supposed to do? she loves her boyfriend very well and she does all those things to show the depth of her feelings for him.
I consoled her and asked her to put herself together because every problem under the earth has a solution and I bet her problem would be solved if she would apply the ten rules of how to get the ring that the counsellor had given her.

I could still see that she was far from being happy as we both walked to her car and with the way she was feeling, I suggested that I drive the car, she merely nodded as she handed me the car keys. I got into the driver's seat and drove off back to our lives.

At this point I would want to introduce my second girlfriend; meet chinenye, a very pretty young lady, people call her the damsel of the group, she is that which is called a true african beauty( am sure tuface got inspiration from her before singing African queen).

people usually think that she is an ogbanje (ogbanje is a child in igboland who is always loved by all, a child that is usually the most beautiful of all that is born).

As earlier stated chinenye's beauty cannot be disputed( we call her nenye). Nonye has a boyfriend Ben and they are been together for 5year and guess what! On valentine's day he popped the question exactly the same way tubaba asked Annie to marry him, how romantic.

Well, for you to appreciate this story, i will have to take you from the beginning of this seemingly love story.

I met nenye in my second week after securing admission into university of Nigeria, Nsukka. Year 1 students of faculty of pharmacy were supposed to have a lecture and I secured a sitting spot using my bag before leaving the class to take a call; when I returned back to class,I discovered that some group of boys had already removed my bag and occupied my seat.
I tried talking to them about it but they wouldn’t listen to me until nenye called one of the guys( who I later learnt was one of her numerous chykers) and asked him to tell his friends to give the lady’s seat back and like a robot they did. I was impressed, after I said my thanks to her, we ended up leaving the class together and that was the beginning of a friendship which now knows no bounds.
we practically did everything together and then in our 3rd year, we both left school hostel and moved in together after securing an off-campus house behind Zik's flat.

Let me remenber; the day chinenye and Ben met, i was there…………. I think, yeah I was.
They met in the most unconventional way. Chinenye and I had gone to see my academic adviser for one of my numerous problems back then in school. My adviser( mrs B) and I share more than a lecture-student relationship, it was more like mother-daughter relationship, so we were in her office gisting about school stuffs, she was in the middle of telling us how one white man disgraced himself at a convention she recently attended in the states when we were interrupted by a song which indicated that someone's phone was ringing.

It was my adviser’s phone, Nenye and I was still giggling and laughing about the white man when I heard her saying to the person, 'sure come inside the department and tell the receptionist to direct you to my office', with that she ended the call.

Few mintues later, there was a knock on the door and I was asked to open the door for the person.

He walked in, smiled and nodded in acknowledgement of own greetings, then to my adviser, he went and hugged.

From his appearance, he should be within 26-30years, apparently a rich guy judging from his well tailored suit and for God sake he was wearing a lange and sohne designer wristwatch which if am not exaggerating should cost about 500 grand or more.

I drifted back to reality when my adviser made the introductions……. Ben meet my daughters, and to us she said, girls meet my run away little brother and there he was standing in flesh and blood was Ben Odiako, he was the most gorgeous TDH my eye ever saw( not that they have seen many shaa) but the man fine die.

"It is a Pity that I liked them fair", I barely thought to myself before he turned to us and greeted us again and asked us what our names were. In that moment, I had forgotten that I was actually there with nenye and looking at her then clearly showed that she forgot me too.

EPISODE ONE

This story is based on the real life story of my girlfriends, our relationships, life and our craziness that led to the prefix EX though with modifications.

No copy or part of this work should be reproduced without authorisation from the writer!!!!!!

As we all know that EX is attributed to something that is no longer existing but once existed. My girls stories are plenty, that it can be converted into a book, but before u understand this story, let me take y’all from the top.

Girlfriend number one: Meet Tola, she is a butter, a typical Nigerian babe born with a silver spoon. Wait! I should say ‘silver golden diamond spoon’ her mum is a doctor in chemical engineering and the dad is a minister. She is the second daughter out of two kids, her elder sister is married to a football player that plays for super eagles. The mum, the sister and her hubby live in the states, while the dad is often in Nigeria. Tola did her First degree and masters in the states but comes home occasionally. she is one of my few friends that when am informed that she is headed to Nigeria, I would clear out my wardrobe because the girl is really a friend indeed, if you know what I mean. *winks with my teeth*( if that is possible).

She is 27years and a gorgeous 27 year old at that, she is not facially beautiful like ‘take my breath away kind of beauty’ but she has the right curves in the right places, one might say that she is endowed. She works for an international company, in its naija branch and one would think that she has it all, but there seems to be a problem beneath her exotic appearance, ‘A MAN’.

I met Tola in lagos while I was staying with my aunt in 4th Avenue Festac. She is a good friend but we didn’t really meet on a friendly base.
We met on a Tuesday to be precise, it was the holidays and nothing excites a teenager more than a holiday lesson. I grew up in the east but I was spending the holidays with my aunt who deemed it necessary to chip me into a holiday lesson so that I can socialise a little, those were her words, not mine. Cool aunt you might think.

I have always been an extrovert, but when you are the new girl(especially one from the east), you will be baptised with the introvert's gene.

So, I got enrolled for the holiday lesson which was aimed at helping me pass that year's jamb. For the first week of my lesson I kept quiet, kept to myself and didn’t want to get noticed, but trust the rich spoilt kids to always know how to spot the new students ( I guess it is one of their traits because i can’t spot people who are new in a very large setting with plenty people ), so I guess she wanted to drive a point home to me that she was the queen and owned the place. ( I later figured out that she was threatened because of my so called beauty), so she was a total b*tch to me, played pranks and made my life a nightmare that I dreaded going for the lessons. Things got better when we found out that we attended the same church and she then realised that i wasn’t even aware of my beauty and as such I couldn’t use it against her, we became best of friends and has remained so ever since.

Tola has a boyfriend, a Yoruba guy, Tunde. They had been together for over 8 years, and they had lived together for 2 of those years. It seemed that they were so much in love but there was a little problem – he hasn't popped the big question yet and this was making her sad. In fact she was so anxious to get married that agreed to go see a counsellor. This is weird because Tola isn't one who tells her business anyhow not even to us, her friends. I had agreed to follow her – I initially didn't want to go, but when Tola was depressed, the sun would not rise. The meeting was scheduled for a Friday 3pm, and from my calender, I was free from one, so I would meet her at the salon and we would go from there.”

We got to the counsellor on time and the section began and was going smoothly until the counsellor began opening our eyes or rather my eyes.

After Tola finished naratting everything to him(counsellor).

He asked, 'have u ever broken up with him?'

Tola replied, ‘no, i haven’t, he has been my only boyfriend’

The counsellor continued, "but you want the ring? Since you have been together, has he ever talked about kids, or what his future plans are?"

‘well, he is a work oriented man,the only future he always talks about is the expansion of his company but he will always say the expansion is for us and that when he finally opens a branch in dubai, we were gonna stay there for good’ Tola replied with tears in her eyes.

"How does he see his present situation with u? Are u sure that he loves you?’ the therapist asked quietly.

"He not only love me, he adores me, he is proud of my achievements, he always say that he is happy that he has me, he worships me, and i love him more than anything in the world" she replied with all certainty.

The counsellor kept quiet for a few minutes before asking, ‘ then what are u doing here?’

I was just busy looking from the counsellor to Tola and listening to them speak.

At this point my friend was crying and I knew she was hurting badly but there was nothing I could do to help but I knew my presence gave her the moral support to confess her innermost fears aloud to a stranger

“I want the ring, I want him to kneel and ask the question, I want to jump into the air and scream when I say YES, I want him to put his seed inside of me and watch it grow and help nurture it, I want all of it, is dat too much to ask, I just want his name right after mine, I want to call him MY HUSBAND, THE FATHER OF MY KIDS." she replied and finally gave way for the tears that she has been battling to keep locked up.

I passed her a tissue which she took and muttered thanks as she turned back to the counsellor to give her the golden answers that she seeked.

But instead he said, "he hasn’t popped the question because you haven’t required him to”

At this point I wasn't trying to keep it cool again. Here Was my friend who has bent the rules a few times for her boyfriend and then this therapist of a guy is saying that she hasn't required the ring, what more can a girl do to get that rock. I cautioned myself and asked the counsellor to explain what he meant by saying that Tola hasn't required the boyfriend to pop the question.

He then replied looking straight into Tola's eye,
"check yourself, you do everything a wife does, you clean for him, you wash for him, you cook for him, you sleep with him, you live with him, you bathe with him, so what more do you need? In his mind you both are already married, you made him to get too comfortable with you, he is enjoying all the husband privileges and so he doesn't see the need for a marriage, and if you continue in this manner, he will never ask you to marry him."

Tola bursted out crying.

Fellow nairalanders, is it just me or what? Why is there no raggaeton club or a poem club/bar anywhere in nigeria. Wouldn't it be awesome to have a raggae club where raggae lovers can go every once in a while to take it back to the old school or even a poem club/bar where anybody can write a poem and read it out to the audience which will be accompanied with small beats. Poem lovers can go and appreciate a poem and hear what others are going through which will be presented in a poem manner

MsSteph: At the poster above me I complained to seun yesterday but he dint reply and as history can help you out we have a lot of sites that have come and gone if he is feeling TOO big to apologize and feels he can do anytin he likes. More sites are coming up and with time this site won't be frequently used again.

Since he said the site is too big for him why not always carry people along. He's site was dead for a week and he nevr said both on his twitter and facebook account what kind of "OGA" is that one. In private firms they have good communication system even if they are tough on people.

If I go thousands will replace me and this thread will grow bigger. I was never going to be here forever.

I am not looking for self pity I just want seun to own up for once and since he can't do it then I will leave cos his attitude will never change
He has apologised.
