KolaShangOne: Oga Engineer, if it doesnt matter entirely, do your next multi-storey build with 3 inch hollow blocks... and make sure they carry dead loads e.g beams... By their quotes you will know them. It's your type that would tell a client to get 100 inches blocks and forget about columns not knowing that a structure can stand without a single block |

Aforxzy: Sorry about the partial collapse of your building but when and how did it occur.
A closer look at the building shows there are no columns on the building, the floor slab thickness is too small and I guess the mix ratios for the mortar and concrete works were weak as well. Your building was poorly constructed..The quality of workmanship here is poor and not the size the sandcrete blocks.
You need to discontinue the construction and get a structural engineer to do a comprehensive assessment of your building. I laugh whenever I read some of these self acclaimed jack of all trades profesionals capitalize on the size of blocks in building constructions. For crying out loud, the size of blocks has nothing to do with the strength or weakness of a structure. What matters is the strength of the blocks irrespective of the size. I have seen a storey building constructed with 5" solid blocks and as I type, that house is still standing and has stood for more than 20years without any single crack. So, recommending 100 inch size of blocks for a client just to appear more professional solves no problem |

OAKGroup: Stop this. You shouldn't spoil the integrity of others here. You could see the size of blocks used, the load placed upon it couldn't get carried. The structure wasn't constructed accordingly in the first place. Size of blocks indeed....! |

FreeConCiencE: He was the one that designed it and he knew it would carry parapet right from the beginning. He is the one doing the construction. See the 3D Yeah, the 3D. That's the only thing they can offer you. I doubt if there's any structural plan |

Saying that someone in medical line cannot know more than he does when it comes to building construction Exactly my point last time. If you private chat me, I can show you some of my works. You can equally go to the first topic under property section and require from the users about the architect called uncleteeh / OAKGroup for certainty. I really hope to work with you if you would need my services . Thanks. You came out in the public to advertise your work but I'll then have to chat you privately to view the same work. Sounds funny to me |

Are we going to talk to you based on these images you uploaded here which anybody else could do or based on the real Architectural designs which will convince us beyond every reasonable doubt that you are an architect? In other words, let's see a corresponding floor plan to any of those images above. |

Ajiswaggs: Hi engineers in the room. Please I want to know the price of pre cast (parapet cement work) per sqm cost. I'm planning on doing this soon and the the price the pop man is calling is very high. He calculated round the building of 58sqm,he said they do it #3000 per sqm after I provide all the materials available to use. Firstly, measure the said building yourself and get the sqm coz it's likely not going to be up to the 58 he quoted. That is where the ripping off starts. They MUST increase the measurement and start cutting off your head from there. So shine your eyes. |

Jasobry: Open sitting room without carved out dining will always be preferred any day. I see all these carved out dining areas as waste of space coz it doesn't take long and it will stop being used as dining again and then you can't use it for another reasonable purpose because it's open to the sitting room. Why not have the dining area near the kitchen just for the family and then serve your guests in the sitting room using side tables. This way, any family member can comfortably eat in the dining without having to attract or distract the activities in the sitting room. |

EgunMogaji2: Please get that structure inspected before you continue your build.
Good luck. The problem is getting the right person to do the inspection as he may still fall into the hands of one inexperienced "professional" who will go there and tell him that the thickness of the slab should be increased again to make the work "professional" Of course we know that another "professional" cannot go there and fail to fault the work even if it's ok just to appear more "professional" than the first two "professionals" |

OAKGroup: Yeah. Maybe the structure in question wasn't designed by an architect. Climbing a staircase is stressful, and inadequate design of some particular components in a building could make such house boring to live in. No, it couldn't have been designed by a vegetable seller in the market but by one of the "professional we design and build company of Nig. Ltd" who must have deceived the client with a copied 3D perspectives of a particular house that he cannot sketch, define or defend it's floor plan let alone the structural components. Once you pay them, the trial and error game takes off... |

Beframia: I've fired the building supervisor for my project he took to roofing level because of a suck away he built whose slab is sloppy and other shortfalls too annoying to mention. He didn't know I was going to show up at the site on that day, he only mobilized some rookies to site and travelled to another town and those ones ended up doing a shoddy job. I practically was the one telling them what to do ... just imagine! Although, I've learnt my lesson. Well, to me there's no "professional" in building as far as Nigeria is concerned. What the self acclaimed professionals do with people's projects is trial and error and the client ends up being the one teaching them what to do and even how to do it. I handle my projects myself because I can't afford to pay a "professional" and end up supervising the professional. I wish people will learn how to go about their projects, then they would realize that the money they waste on foundation alone in the name of "professional this, professional that" would be enough to get them far into the project. |

Homextras: While I may not have the full details of what has transpired in this transaction, I will refrain from passing judgment until Rotech comes to share his side. However, sending someone to come check out your claims is a big NO NO. He should have been there himself regardless of schedule.
I dislike when I give a professional a job and he collects money into his account but sends someone. I laugh whenever I see this word "professional" on this property section |
