It was minimal for us too. Although IT advised us not to reboot our comps😂😂😂
AgentXxx:
Did the Crowdstrike/Microsoft Outage affect anyone in here. Grateful it was minimal for us but I read that Airports, Hospitals, and many organisations most especially in Australia were crippled.

It’s not open to everyone. If you have no recourse to public fund you are not qualified. Don’t apply for any code again and wait till your child clock three to enjoy the free 15hrs.
adeolaspecial:
Good morning everyone. I got a message from my friend that the 15hours free childcare is now opened and that we can apply. I tried to get the code while applying, but it says i am not eligible as i have no recourse to public fund. I thought this was supposed to be free to all working parents. Or is there a way to go about it.

It might be a week or months. You can only be in reserve list for a maximum of 6 months. I was also place in a reserve list for an EO role in November but later secured an higher grades with another government agencies and I went with them. They later contacted those on reserve list in January. I wasn’t later contacted because I withdrew my application immediately I secured that better role.

Civil service just put my friend on the reserve list for an EO role. I want to ask on his behalf, how long should he expect the actual appointment?
People who have been on the list, how long did it take b4 you were appointed?

Lol, don’t mind him. One need a passport to apply for any type of visa
ReesheesuKnack:

But this is for Student to PSW applications right?
It will not apply to settlement (ILR) or SWV (Tier-2) visas. Right?
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by hayesconcept(m): 7:59pm On Jan 17
Oga one need a passport to apply for a visa, even a new born need a passport but the only exception is that you can use your expired passport to apply for visa and upload a cover letter that your new passport is under processing. Some case officer will even asked for evidence of application for a new passport
giselle237:
u dnt need ur passport to switch a visa or apply for a visa if you are inside the UK in your case.
Please go ahead with your visa application

You have to exercise patience for your passport to come out. You can actually switch your visa with expired passport. Since you will switch inside the UK. Just use the ID check app with your BRP and you don’t need to go for any capturing. You just need to write a cover letter to explain the reason why you’re using expired passport and also attached your passport renewal form. Switch your visa and be good
Qwesiri:

Hi Please I need help.
I applied to renew my Nigerian passport in July 2023. I did my capturing on 18th October 2023, paid the post order too. I was given a slip saying collection date is 15th December 2023 and I'm yet to receive it. I am due to switch my student visa but I'm yet to do biometrics as my current passport expires 23rd January 2024. Please how do I contact high commission? Or Do I go to London?

Congratulations, go and prepare for your interview like a pro. Prepare your answer using STAR techniques. I.e Situation, Task, Action, and Results. Always talk more om action and results. Always personalised your experience, make use of more of ‘i’ rather than ‘we’. Practice like your life depends on it and record yourself during the practice too.

If you read the Civil service Competency Framework you will get an idea of the type of evidence they are looking for in terms of positive behaviours that you are expected to demonstrate. These can shape your answers, even if you don't know 'The' Questions.

Managing a Quality Service

• How do you and your team understand what the standards required by your customers are?
• Give me an example of how you have demonstrated an understanding of customer needs
• What steps have you taken to understand how you and your team perform against performance/ customer standards?
• How do you respond to customer feedback?
• Can you describe a time when you have been proactive in finding a solution to a problem encountered by your customers?

Leading and Communicating
• When communicating to staff how have you ensured your communication is clear, well structured and tailored to your audience?
• Can you give an example of how you have engaged your team in discussions about changes taking place in your unit, business area or Department?
• Tell me about a time when you have had to influence a senior manager, stakeholder or partner and how you went about this?
• Tell me about a time when you have had to use written communication to successfully influence someone? How did you go about structuring your written communication?

deshade:
Please advise on the questions being asked for the pre recorded interview. i have received interview invitation for the work center coach at DWP. i appreciate your response Thanks

It’s not always rosy at the other side. Most of us here went through the same thing. Everything will fall in place once his wife is able to work. The transition from naija to abroad life is not rosy at all. Culture shock, the weather and the massive rent. Tell your friends to apply for teaching assistant/ cover supervisor role. He can also apply for invigilator rule in school, they are currently recruiting lot of people at this moment. May God help us all.
Westves:
Hello, guys. Friend of mine recently relocated to the UK with his family. From the gory stories he's been feeding me, abroad ain't all that is propped up to be. Freezing temperatures, monthly rent of £600, comparative cost of living, tuition, catering singlehandedly for the family cuz his nursing wife doubles as a student, on top of that, has to raise the sponsorship fee

He hasn't been making much progress with finding caregiver jobs and his options are limited. Can't do construction under this weather. So my question is, what form of trade or occupation can he pivot into before it's too late? My guy is bleeding cash so we are kinda desperate here

I'm sure a lot of guys got easier landing so I'm looking forward to any helpful resource you guys can bless us with. He is a naija graduate, if that matters. Many thanks

Your friend can’t switch his visa right away. He must finished his study. The only exceptional is if he’s doing his PHD. Tell your friend to rest small.
Seynex01:
Hello,
A friend will be done with school in Dec, Two Company has offered to issue him COS, the first one is dormicilary care, while the other is a support work.

The dormicillary care is willing to switch his visa right away. While the support work says 6 weeks to the expiration of his visa which will be in April.

concerns are:
Wouldn’t the new skilled worker salary increment affect companies from issuing COS within the UK, when implemented.

Can any new policies affect switching visas within the UK regarding this plan in changing overseas skilled worker visa.

Is it okay, he takes the COS from the Dormicillary care and switch later to the support in April or should just wait, still April.

You can work full time with students visa once you have completed your degree. But you can’t take up permanent position in any company with student visa. It’s against the law.
Goodenoch:

Hm? This is not correct o.

Once you have been cleared off study by your university you are free to work full time.

Your student visa will fulfill the right to work requirements up till its expiry date, by which time you should have switched to another visa that will allow you continue in the role.

She should apply for NIN first. Tell her to search for NIN enrollment center in the UK for Google. She will then pay like £40 for NIN enrolment. She should then apply for her passport. The passport might not be ready in January but she can still apply for her visa with the expired passport, passport application form and a cover letter that explains that her passport is not yet ready. Problem solved
Joyglo:
Hello guys help my friend ooooh

Her passport will expire next month and her school has given her extension to resit her exam saying they will give her a new CAS by January 2024 for her to be able to apply for visa extension.

Secondly because she had been outside Nigeria (turkey) even before the NIN thing she do no have NIN

And we all know that NIN is now very important in applying for a Nigeria passport

What should she do? How and where can she do NIN here in UK and how and where can she apply for international passport. Help please I do not want to loose my friend to depression she has hustled to pay £20,500 tuition fee and she keeps crying she can't go back to Nigeria after all the stress she's be through with domiciliary care to pay tuition. Help! Help!! Help!!!

Thank you bro
Schoolhike:

Congratulations, Lucky you that your application got into reserve.

Your application was okay and your interview was good aswell. You might be called up anytime. Just keep applying. Wish you best of luck.

A friend was on reserve list for 4 months and got called after. (EO role), this is slow because lots people still stays on EO role.

Three others got reserve list and were called after within a week. (AO role), this is fast because lots of people leave AO.

Lots of other reason why people are out on reserv list which I can’t list all.

Yeah for DWP, if you get 30 you should get the job straight away I think
Travel / Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by hayesconcept(m): 10:54pm On Nov 06, 2023
@Schoolhike I’m just stuck with the pre recorded interview for EO role. I wasn’t successful with my first attempt and the second attempt i was placed on reserve list. Can you please drop any hints on how to score higher with this pre recorded interview. Thank you
Schoolhike:

EO and above and I don’t think DWP offer sponsorship for the JOB COACH role.

A friend got sponsorship at AO role with DWP tho she was moving from student visa directly to work visa.

Someone else wasn’t given for the AO because the person is moving from a work visa.

Seems hmrc could sponsor EO (will not sponsor AO), same as DWP.

Best bet is to start working with them with other visa say like graduate visa, the chances of getting visa will be high. For instance, on norms Ministry of defense don’t sponsor visa if the job is not on shortage occupation list, but someone got the sponsorship because the person has been working with them while on graduate visa.

From EO upwards but you must have a right to work before the commencement of the appointment

please from what grade do thy offer sponsorship

HO and DEFRA won’t sponsor your visa. HMRC and DWP dey offer sponsorship steadily
dduchess90:
Hello

Other departments can sponsor

HO can’t

What list are you looking at, can you screenshot were you saw HO in the list??
