Politics / FG Grants N3m To 300 People In Ekiti by hayzed2: 4:17pm On Nov 10, 2014
The Federal Government, through the National Directorate
of Employment, has provided N3m grant to 300 “poorest of
the poor” people in six local governments areas of Ekiti
State.
The beneficiary LGAs are Ado, Ikere, Irepodun-Ifelodun, Ido-
Osi, Ise-Orun and Ikole.
The grant is for them to establish “micro (mini) enterprises”
such as roasting of corn/plantain, as well as sale of pure
water, coca cola, fruits, vegetables, garri, yams and any
other micro (mini) business ventures.
In his address in Ado-Ekiti during the disbursement, the NDE
Director General, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, said the
initiative was designed to sustain employment generation
and poverty reduction in both urban and rural areas of the
federation.
Mohammed, who was represented by the State Coordinator,
Mrs. Sharafat Adeola, urged the beneficiaries, selected by
traditional rulers and community leaders in the six LGAs, to
make use of the opportunity to actualise their dreams of a
humble beginning.
“I implore you to make judicious use of the money to ensure you are self-employed,” he said.

Politics / Borno Soldier Killed My Son, Stole His Car -father by hayzed2: 4:05pm On Nov 10, 2014
A father, Alhaji Konto Sulum, whose son, Mohammed, an
undergraduate of the University of Maiduguri, was allegedly
killed by a soldier in Maiduguri, has called for a probe into
his son’s death.
Sulum alleged that his son was killed last Wednesday after a
soldier he gave a ride to chose to take Mohammed’s life and
made away with the young man’s car.
Addressing journalists in Maiduguri on Sunday, the father of
the deceased said the incident occurred on Wednesday at
about 6pm.
He explained that the soldier asked his son to give him a
ride so that he could get to his duty post on time.
Sulum added, “But before they could get to the designated
post, he had shot Mohammed and ran away with his car.
“The soldier, who thought he (Mohammed) was dead,
dragged his corpse out of the car and zoomed off with his
car. My son crawled down by the roadside near Asita Hotel
in Bolori, where a good Samaritan called the attention of
Civilian JTF and they tried to rush him to the hospital, but he
gave up the ghost before reaching the hospital.
“Before my son died, he informed the Civilian JTF that he
was shot by a soldier, who had run away with his car. The
next day, his friend saw the soldier and his friend at Oando
filing station, Baga Road, with the car, and they alerted
Civilian JTF and they arrested them.”
According to him, his 22-year-old son has just graduated
from the Physics Department of the University of Maiduguri,
waiting for his call-up letter from NYSC.
Confirming the incident, a source in the Army, who did not
want his name in print, said both the suspect and his
accomplice had been arrested and would soon be
prosecuted.

Politics / Scores Of Insurgents Killed In Mubi By Soldiers by hayzed2: 2:36pm On Nov 10, 2014
Over 60 people reportedly died over the weekend as Nigerian security forces battled to recapture Mubi, Adamawa state, from the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

Elite anti-riot mobile policemen were said to have joined the counter-offensive operations to flush out the insurgents who took over Mubi town about two weeks ago, National Mirror reports.

According to Mallam Bello Idi, a resident who fled Mubi as a result of the counter-offensive operations, scores of insurgents have been killed, while several others have surrendered.

“I saw as much as over sixty bodies on my way out of the town. What I witnessed was horrific; anybody still left in Mubi is in serious danger. Many of the insurgents themselves have been forced to retreat into the town from the outskirts as the military advance into the town,” Bello said.

He explained that several residents who still remained in town were prevented from leaving by the insurgents who had plans of using them as shield against the security agent’s heavy bombardment.

He added that several people have already been caught in the line of fire.

According to report, some of the fleeing insurgents attacked some villagers in Makira, on the outskirts of Mubi, killing two and setting ablaze the local church.

However, the villagers were said to have overpowered the insurgents, killing three.

The insurgents were also repelled by a combined team of mobile policemen and a detachment of soldiers stationed in Hong who responded quickly.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian military allegedly arrested a top military officer in Yola over his links with Boko Haram.

He is believed to be funding the insurgents as several billions of bank transactions to the sect was linked to him.

He is alleged to also be providing the sect with vital information about movement of arms and other tactical moves.

Politics / Urhobo Vows To Vote Against Jonathan by hayzed2: 8:32am On Nov 09, 2014
APEX Urhobo socio-political
organisation, the Urhobo Progress
Union (UPU), has stated that the
Urhobo ethnic nationality would vote
against President Goodluck Jonathan’s
second term ambition in 2015 if he
fails to ensure that the gubernatorial
candidate of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) emerges from the Urhobo
nation’s Delta Central Senatorial
district.
The group also slammed Delta State
Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, of
working to sabotage the Urhobo
nations’ ambition to produce the next
governor in the state by supporting
candidates from the north senatorial
district of the Igbo speaking people.
President–General, UPU, Chief Joe
Omene, made this position known at a
gathering of the organisation held at
the Urhobo Cultural Centre, Warri, on
Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
Addressing newsmen on the position of
the UPU on the 2015 polls, Omene
declared that the UPU and indeed the
entire Urhobo ethnic nationality would
have no business with any political
party that will not consider them for
2015 governorship ticket.
, saying that the UPU Uvwiamuge
Declaration is predicated on this
position as they gave Jonathan over
800,000 votes during the 2011 polls
and yet have nothing to show for it.
He said the UPU position would be
replicated in all elections throughout
the country including the Presidential
election and dismissed argument of
zoning as fraudulent and undemocratic.
“Let it be stated here without
equivocation that the assertion being
made in some quarters that the
governorship seat has been zoned to
Delta North is not true. Indeed, records
abound to show that in all the
gubernatorial contests since the
creation of Delta State and the current
political dispensation which started in
1999, politicians from the three
Senatorial districts in the state have
always contested the gubernatorial
position, in particular, those of them
from the North senatorial district,” he
said.
On who becomes the next governor of
Delta State in 2015, the UPU leader
expressed disappointment over the
alleged posturing of Uduaghan for
openly supporting candidates from the
North Senatorial district, saying that it
was unacceptable, citing working to
thwart the efforts of Urhobo in
ascending to the position of the state
chairman of the PDP; degrading the
treatment of the deputy governor and
motivating some Urhobo sons to work
against the interest of the Urhobo as
evidence of anti-Urhobo position.
The UPU had earlier sanctioned some
Urhobo sons suspected of being used
by Uduaghan to sabotage the collective
interest of the Urhobo interest.
Speaking on the allegations against
Uduaghan, a prominent Warri Urhobo
indigene and APC stalwart, Mr.
Umukoro Eseoghene, said Uduaghan
should not be blamed for the disunity
in Urhobo politics, noting that
“everyone is only struggling to satisfy
his selfish interest and eke out a living
in an environment of acute poverty.
Nobody should whip up primordial
sentiment against the Itsekiri people
for their self- aggrandisement.

PDP has produced more Christain governors in SW than other
parties. Does that mean PDP is a Christian party? All this
religious antics are crap if you ask me. What is most important
is the credibilty and the performance of the one in charge.
Little wonder most south westerners doesn't even realise the
fact above that there have been more christian governors. FFk
maliciously said APC governors are made up of 80 % muslims
in order to manipulate the poplulace toward voting PDP
against the facts above. What he maliciously fet out is the fact
that in South-East and South South governors have been 100%
christians (and almost certainly, their deputies too!)
So Where is the Ismalization of Nigerian?

Business / Fuel Importation’ll Continue After PIB Becomes Law – Dakuku. by hayzed2: 1:03pm On Nov 05, 2014
The Chairman , House of Representative Committee on Petroleum Resources (downstream) , Honourable Dakuku Peterside is optimistic that the Petroleum Industry bill (PIB)which has suffered delays  for over 8 years  due to lack of harmonization of contending interests,  would be passed into law before the end of the 7th  legislative  regime .  He  spoke with our Acting Energy Editor, Anayo Korie  on  wide range of issues concerning the downstream sector of Nigeria’s oil industry. Excepts:

What is the House of Representative doing to ensure that Federal Ministry  of Finance settle subsidy claims of oil marketers  to avert fuel scarcity now that Christmas and 2015 General Elections are  fast approaching?

Peterside Dakuku

The commitment of National Assembly is  to serve  the interest of all Nigerians by making good laws  for the governance of the country  and for the welfare of the citizens, as  most of the oil marketers are Nigerians. For the fact they are Nigerians they  are serving  the interest of Nigerians .Therefore, our  interests    in  payment of importers claims   is  for them to continue  to import fuel  which is an interim measure   to sustain the running of Nigerian economy.

On the long  term , we  will not support the importation of fuel into the country  when regulatory frame work is okay to guarantee the refining of petroleum products  in-country .For now that is one of the measures   that keep the nation moving .The marketers will  continue to import fuel for the nation  to have uninterrupted supply of Petroleum products ,because if they stop   importation of fuel today there will be crisis ,none of us can imagine  the  dimension of the crisis. .If the downstream sector of the oil industry is  shut down today it will affect all sectors of the economy. For instance it will affect homes, industries, transportation  .The reason for  our  interest in the downstream sector  is to protect Nigeria businesses. We don’t  have to throw people out of employment.

Therefore, the question is what are we doing?,  we are doing three things to keep Nigeria  moving on the right track.  One is to accelerate the passage of petroleum industry bill. Secondly, we are engaging the Ministry of Finance to pay for the imported products into the country   .We have told the Ministry of Finance  ,there is no justification for owing the importers .The truth is that the bench mark for crude is  $77.05 ,crude oil price has not fallen below $90 per a barrel ,absolutely there is no justification for the delay in  the payment for now.

The target   at the time we passed  that  budget was 2.3 million barrels per a day ,again the fluctuation of 2.4 million barrels  is not the justification for owing the marketers. When we approached the Ministry  of Finance to pay, they complained of not having money. Therefore, in this issue of corruption, they are  delaying things ,we have to investigate the matter properly again. We know of the incidence of oil theft, but not to the extent of saying ,there is no money to pay for service rendered.

On the preparation for the payment for importation, I want to commend Petroleum  Products Price Regulation Agency  PPPRA for their role in the area of processing  and  documentation for the marketers who imported  fuel . The   House of Representative  is pleased  with  their conduct.

We are still talking to Ministry of Finance  on the best way  to pay marketers  for fuel imported  into the country. The House of Representative is searching  for the best approach to handle the subsidy regime. We  have observed that subsidy in itself is not sustainable. No matter how we look at it, the initiative cannot last for long  ,Addressing it  with legislation now  is not the appropriate time. For now,  we have to block some loopholes. We are not resting on our oars, because whatever  happens now will impact on the economy. We don’t want Nigerians to suffer or the economy to be grinded to a halt.

You will understand  that we are approaching 2015 General  Election , which is critical to  Nigerians.  If we get it wrong,   the nation will begin to witness demonstrations  and riots all over,  thereby   affecting Christmas celebration and  most importantly, 2015 transition .We don,t  want such negative vice    to happen to the nation.  We are committed  to ensuring that  peace  thrives.

What  is the National Assembly’s role in mitigating the risk undertaken  by oil marketers  in fuel importation?

Every business  venture comes with  its  associated risks.  An entrepreneur is  the one   who takes risks. One of the   risks associated with business is  that of anticipation.  If it goes well, will the businessman bring  the profit to national purse ? The answer is no, or any one of us the answer is also no. They   should have the ability to absorb the shock. In the interim ,the National Assembly will not do anything  to combat the risk associate with  anticipation.

Very soon  when the House of Representative resumes  from recess, the  PIB would be laid on the floor for deliberation  and approval.   The Senate will follow suit ,before it will presented to the President for ascent  . There is transitional legislation for PIB that will  take care of Pre and post PIB  regime .For instance,  downstream regulation is done  by multiple agencies such as Department of Petroleum Resources, (DPR ) and the Petroleum Products  Price Regulation Agency  (PPPRA) to an extent. If you talk of the quality of petroleum product that is regulated by  DPR, the importation of Fuel is regulated by PPPRA,there  are some aspects of regulation done  by Petroleum Product Marketing Company (PPMC), and Nigeria National Petroleum Company.

Now in the new post   PIB regime, it will be one –stop  shop down stream  to regulate the demand and consumption of fuel in Nigeria. Between that  time,  the PPPRA will transit to DPRK  After that transition, regulation will take  care of what  is happening now.

The importation of  fuel will still continue even when PIB is passed into law, that is when regulation will be paramount. The fact that the   PIB   becomes law  does mean that refineries would be built immediately.   Certainly not. The fact is that we will continue to import fuel while regulation will cheek quality to avert oil traders going to bring substandard fuel to the country .In post PIB, the players will still remain the players because they have the facilities  already. They  have tank farms, trucks, marine vessels   and other logistics that will enable distribution of fuel nationwide .What will happen is the change of operation.

However, for any importer to bring petroleum  product  into the country  there is the need  for him to have import license in order to bring the right quality.  We have  to know the source of the fuel, and to know if the products  meet our specification.

When will Nigeria stop importing fuel, considering the  fact that she is one of the largest producer of hydrocarbon  in Africa?

We are not happy that Nigeria is still  importing fuel to meet our domestic  needs, We are not pleased that the nation is also importing , almost all the components used in the formulation of lubricants. That is not where  we desired to be ,or wanted to be.  That is not our vision.  It never makes us happy, We are concerned like every other Nigerian .The reality is that , though  it may not be palatable that today ,we don’t have refineries to  produce these  derivatives locally. Our refineries are not working  to our desired level .

However, in the short term, we have to import fuel  because we  cannot  build refineries over night . The most important thing we want  to do is to provide the regulatory business environment  for investment to flow in to the  country . We are making efforts to provide that environment .In terms of power, you know that we are not getting it  right,in terms of regulation. We are still grappling with PIB.

In the area of funding, most Nigerian banks are not interested in long term funding .It’s not blaming government alone,  both government and the private sector should partner to develop  the nation.

Licenses were awarded to private sector to  build 18 refineries , but not one was  built today. A lot of   factors   was responsible for that.  One is regulatory  environment: marketers were mandated to sell at a particular  price. The importing environment is tight.

In terms of security, you are  aware  of the prevalent challenges.  Every day, the oil pipeline is vandalised or destroyed. Even when  you are bringing vessels ,piracy is there to contend with. We have not got the issue of security right .There is  a lot of things we need  to put in place to get our bearings  right. You must be aware of government plans to build green refineries in Bayelsa,Lagos  and Kogi  states. Have you asked why those refineries have not started producing fuel?  The model  is that government wants  to own maximum of 40 percent ,while private investors 60 per cent. You understand that government is not a good business man.We need private sector inputs not   only to drive efficiency and effectiveness but also  ensure that business is run efficiently  to guarantee returns   on  investment .The investment  should  be run  efficiently to avoid people coming to claim the business are their political patronage or dividend of democracy.  We don’t have private investors.  To that extent, private investors are insisting that certain regulatory policies must be addresse.  Nobody puts his funds down for investment for mere  fun of it. Investors invest to earn profits.  The issue of corruption in downstream sector has to be addressed. The question is,  are we okay with the situation we find our self now ,and are we addressing it?  We  are using PIB legislation  and other  legislations  to address  the challenges.

Why  are private investors shunning investment in the downstream sector?

Why private investors are shunning  investment in the downstream sector  is due to heavy regulation.  It is a fact that deregulation  will  not solve our problems, but that is critical  to moving the sector forward. If we go to international lenders to borrow funds for investment, we have go there with  a balance sheet on how the borrowed funds will be re-paid .We have  to show how their money will be re-paid over time including profit.  I don,t   see any investor  committing his funds if the  challenges of regulatory environment  are not addressed.

We have to  find  a way to stop importation of fuel which is creating jobs for the citizens of the exporting nations .Nigeria is affected due to this  practice with  its  negative  impact  of job loss  that affects  citizens  of Ngeria. Of course, our role  in Africa will be undermined. Like the saying that one of every four  black man in Africa is a Nigerian, they are looking unto Nigeria for assistance and we will not fail them.

When  are we  expecting the passage of PIB?

When the bill is laid on the floor of the house of Representatives ,it will be circulated  to members , observation and correction will  made.   After studies, it goes to  third reading and committee stages,  subject to the Senate adding their inputs . Thereafter, the bill would be forwarded  to the President for his ascent .Hopefully, by the grace of God  before the end of May 2015 which is end of the 7th  legislative period,  it  will  become one of the laws of the land.

The passage of the bill would definitely drive the efficiency of the operation of the downstream of the petroleum industry , develop individual and corporate businesses,  and create wealth for Nigerians  via employment opportunities etc.

Politics / Fashola To Present 2015 Budget To Lawmakers Monday. by hayzed2: 12:57pm On Nov 05, 2014
Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, will on Monday, November 10, 2014, present the 2015 budget to members of the state House of Assembly.

This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Leader of the House, Ajibayo Adeyeye moved the motion for adjournment during a plenary session.

Adeyeye, who explained that the governor had sent a message to inform the House of his decision to come and present the budget on Monday, told his colleagues that the sitting would commence by 10a.m prompt.

Meanwhile, the House has commended the Nigerian judiciary over the ruling affirming the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, as the substantive Speaker.

In a statement issued by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Publicity, Security and Strategy, Segun Olulade, the House explained that Nigerian judiciary has proven that judgment can truly be obtained by Nigerians in the array of impunity coming from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government.

The House stated that the judiciary has upheld the hope of the nation, “and it is the institution that stands as the protector of our hard-earned democracy given its vulnerability to disruptions by the ego driven and lawless ruling party and its government.

“It is unthinkable, petty, unreasonable and insensitive approach to attempt to remove the Speaker because he crossed to the progressive party.

“Just few weeks ago, Governor Mimiko of Ondo State, who was the only governor of the Labour Party (LP), dumped the party to a gallows for PDP and heaven did not fall.

“Why will the present government go so petty at using the security agency that belongs to all of us to threaten Tambuwal’s safety plus the ploy to remove him by the PDP lawmakers in the House,” the statement read in part.

The lawmakers also stated that the most unimaginable errors have occurred under the present administration than all other administration put together since Nigeria’s independence.

They added that Nigeria has been made a laughing stock in the comity of nations considering spate of atrocities and petty acts of impunity and lawlessness by the harbinger of powers and custodians of our democracy and freedom

Fellow Nigerians, time changes everything indeed. In 2011, I would have said worse things about General Muhammadu Buhari. In truth, I actually wrote Buhari off completely, not without cogent reasons that I considered valid and relevant at that time. The first was that Buhari was too old to lead us.

I was biased by the Obama Presidency and the emergence of David Cameron in Britain. I felt Buhari as a former dictator should be totally expunged from the race. I was also brainwashed by the relentless propaganda that he was a religious fundamentalist of the worst kind. If I was good in Fine Arts, I would have painted him in the lurid and monstrous image of Lucifer. That was how bad it was.

Trust me, I’m supposed to be one of the most liberal and tolerant human beings but it was just difficult for me to accept Buhari as a Presidential candidate at this time and age. I nearly clashed with my dear friend and brother, Simon Kolawole, after reading an article he had penned on Buhari and practically endorsing him at that time. I was so livid that I did not wait for Simon to get out of church before I started bombarding his lines with frenetic calls. When he eventually got back to me, and in his usual humble manner said “Egbon, I missed your calls, hope all is well?” I responded that all was not well as he had spoilt my appetite and breakfast that morning with his effusive praise of someone I considered a red-faced tyrant.

Simon was as cool as cucumber. He was incredibly blunt as he instantly confessed his unrepentant love, admiration and support for Buhari…

So far, in all 2015 Opinion polls, Buhari is beating Jonathan mercilessly.

Without doubt, Buhari is a modern-day wonder. The story of his life is a stuff of thriller novels. In a country where money fixes most things and people, how did he manage to control the bodies and souls of his fanatical supporters? What is it that makes him such a dual personality that draws so many people to him while others withdraw as if to run away from a victim of Ebola? What can Buhari do or achieve at his age in this modern world where life itself has become computerised? I suffered from this interior monologue for a long time.

Some of my fears started evaporating one night in Abuja when I was invited over to meet him at the instance of Prince Lanrewaju Tejuoso, one of his godsons. I was dazed at the ease Prince Lanrewaju was able to get him to meet with me at such short notice. I was impressed that there were no intruders during our heart-to-heart talk. Perhaps, because he had no money to share, the usual parasites crawling all over the corridors of power were not in sight. He spoke calmly but firmly. He had this childlike innocence around him. It was difficult to imagine this man sitting across me could hurt a fly even as a soldier. There were no airs around him or chips on his shoulders. What you saw was what you got; take it or leave it. Many had confessed to similar reaction upon meeting him.

We took pictures together without much ado. And I actually found him more charismatic than my jaundiced eyes could have permitted. What I saw was that raw Fulani beauty and handsomeness. I and my aides left the place liking him a bit.

Of course the election came as usual and Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan trounced Buhari mercilessly. But most of us got so carried away that we failed to appreciate how well the man had performed against all odds. Here was a man without loads of cash. He didn’t have a preponderance of powerful Governors behind him. He could not mobilise so many billionaires to fund him. He lacked the power of incumbency. He could not secure the much needed coalition with ACN at the time. Many Christians saw him as Satan on earth. Many youths considered him too old. The super-rich saw him as the sword of Damocles dangling over them. All the odds were stacked up against him. Yet this poor man, as I like to describe him, recorded a whopping 12,214,853 votes while President Jonathan scored 22,495,187 votes.

Let’s break it down into simple Maths. Jonathan had a good spread scoring 25% or more in 31 States. Buhari managed to score 25% or more in 16 States and yet got a cumulative result of over 12 million votes. A good Mathematician should be able to help us here because I wish to show our President’s handlers that they will pay heavily for complacency if they assume and take it for granted that they can beat Buhari easily like PDP had always done in the past. Let me explain it further. A man who won the mandatory 25% in about half of the States secured by the President still went ahead to poll over half of what the President got. Now this is the trickery part.

Let me begin with the most obvious. Buhari had only 37.96% in Adamawa while Jonathan had 56%. The registered voters were 1,816,094 but the voter-turnout was a miserable 49.98%. With the way the country is right now, PDP would require a miracle to win Adamawa with a landslide. If Buhari secures the APC ticket, it is almost certain that he would clean up that State. And in case the voters turn out much bigger, it means that State can wipe off some of the deficits Buhari suffered in 2011. The two leading parties can still jerk up about one million extras which won’t be a bad idea even if PDP still gets 25% or more.

Let’s walk across to another interesting State, Bauchi where Buhari recorded 1,315,209 against Jonathan’s 258,404 despite the avuncular presence of PDP Governor, Yisa Yuguda. The registered voters here were 2,523,614 but only 1,610,094 voters chose to vote with nearly 1,000,000 voters hibernating somewhere. I hope you’re patient enough to follow this Maths lesson.

Benue would certainly be a major battle ground this time for the candidates because the State has over 1.3 million voters (out of a total registration of 2,390,884) buried somewhere for the strongest candidate to resurrect. Here ethnicity and religion would play critical roles more than ever before. It is presently a virtual PDP State with Jonathan polling 694,776 against Buhari’s 109,680 and ACN (Nuhu Ribadu) 223,007. Benue had always been a State of enlightened voters and it may swing in favour of a serious candidate.

Let’s keep moving and find somewhere to land in the troubled spot of Borno State. This is a treasure ground with 2,380,957 out of which more than half of the voters have absconded and vanished into thin air. In 2011, Buhari 909,763 against the President’s humble 207,075 votes. Now this State is under fire but is NOW largely controlled by the new alliance known as APC.

Let’s saunter across to Gombe where Buhari scored 459,898 against Jonathan’s 290,347 votes out of a total registration of 1,318,377. All the parties combined recorded 770,019 voters. The implication of this is that if this State decides to be generous, it may dash out about 548,358 votes. We are still moving and scavenging for the votes wherever they are hiding.

Let’s say some quick Hello to our Brother, Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, who couldn’t hold Buhari down despite his equally tall physique. Here Buhari polled 663,994 against Jonathan’s 419,252. Total votes cast came to 1,140,766 out of 2,013,974 total registrations. Do not say I told you, this State has some 873,208 unseen registered voters probably perambulating as we write. This journey is still long and arduous.

Kaduna is a major war zone for the candidates because of its peculiar characteristics. Buhari’s supremacy was hotly challenged as Jonathan polled 1,190,179 against Buhari’s 1,334,244 votes . Total votes cast were 2,569,963 out of 3,905,387 total registered voters. Now wait for the good news of the kingdom; this beautiful State has 1,335,424 voters that it can conjure whenever needed or ready.

If you think Kaduna was super, please, wait for the almighty Kano where no serious candidate can play silly pranks with the energetic and fearless Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso. In 2011, Buhari massacred Jonathan with 1,624,543 against 440,666. The then Governor and Presidential candidate, Ibrahim Shekarau even scored more than the President with his 526,310 votes. The total votes cast came to 2,673,228 out of 5,027,297. In case your Maths is poor like mine, let’s find a calculator before the brains explode. Kano alone can conveniently and benevolently donate 2,354,069 potential voters out of the skies.

We finally arrive in Buhari’s homestead of Katsina where he expectedly polled 1,163,919 against Jonathan’s 428,392. It is either many Katsina people didn’t dig their own son, since prophets hardly get honoured at home, or Buhari just didn’t employ artful dodgers to manipulate the votes in his favour. In all, 1,639,532 voters performed their civic duty out of 3,126,898 registered voters. By fire, by force, Katsina on a good day can still conjure some 1,487,366 votes.

Please, permit me to fast forward to the State of the Sokoto Caliphate where a floodgate can still be opened. Strangely, Buhari pulled merely 540,769 shots against Jonathan’s 309,057. A total of 909,808 voters came out of 2,267,509 registered voters. No one is able to explain this anomalous situation to us properly but some 1,357,701 unseen voters may decide to show up in 2015. Please, bear with me, you must be getting tired but we need to do this together because of my over-confident friends in Abuja who must have had F9 in Mathematics like me.

Let me now give you the shock treatment and take you straight to the biggest theatres of war. I must warn that this not for the faint-hearted. Welcome to the heartbeat of Nigeria known as Lagos State where Jonathan polled 1,281,688 against Buhari’s 189,983 and Nuhu Ribadu’s 427,203. Wait for this, only 1,945,044 voters turned up out of 6,108,069 voters. In effect, Lagos can, in its true majesty, produce additional 4,163,025 out of its bag of magic.

I wish there was space to display all the figures but it won’t be possible. But let me continue with the random sampling. Many of the States won by Jonathan or PDP or both, depending on why you voted in 2011, are not so easily available at this time. Take Oyo for example under the control of APC beyond the next Presidential election may prove too tough to handle. Only 863,544 out of 2,572,140 voters appeared in public but we don’t know the whereabouts of 1,708,596 potential voters.

Ogun State is another interesting territory where 543,715 people voted out of 1,941,170 who registered to vote.

Meanwhile, the largest turnout of voters was recorded in areas controlled by Jonathan but let’s examine the figures. Abia has used up 1,188,333 out of 1,524,484; Akwa Ibom 1,232,395 out of 1,616,873; Anambra 1,157,239 out of 2,011,746; BAYELSA 506,693 out of 591,870; Cross River 726,341 out of 1,148,486; Delta 1,398,579 out of 2,032,191; Edo 621 out of 1,655,776; Ebonyi 502,890 out of 1,050,534; Ekiti 261,858 out of 764,726; Enugu 814,009 out of 1,303155; Imo 1,409,850 out of 1,687,293; Kwara 414,754 out of 1,152,361; Ondo 486,837 out of 1,616,091; Osun (lost by Jonathan) 512,714 out of 1,293,967; Rivers (the largest State in South South) 1,854,116 out of 2,429,231 and so and so on.

This should give you a fair representation of what is at stake in the 2015 election. Politics is not exactly Maths but it is still a game of numbers. Those who think an incumbent President cannot be defeated should wake up from their self-induced coma. The mood of the Nigerian nation is very similar to that which swept Obama into power. Lagos and Kano combined account for 11,135,366 registered voters out of a grand total of 73,528,040. Only 38,199,219 people voted in all the States. There are 35,328,821 floating somewhere. Most of them are comfortably resident in APC States.

My free advice to the Jonathan campaigner is simple; stop projecting our President as a sectional leader whose only qualification is where he comes from. Stop raining insults on Northerners and avoid maligning innocent Muslims. The religious card you wish and hope to play will never play out in favour of President Jonathan. You should concentrate on projecting the positive work and his Transformation Agenda. A President is the father of the nation. A lot of damage has been done by portraying him as a victim who’s derided by everyone except his own.

The President’s handlers should worry more about how the goodwill of 2011 got frittered away in such a jiffy. Above all, they should urgently search for competent Maths teachers.
Believe me, the figures are no longer adding up.”

Let's imagine that the final face off in the race for the place at the Aso Rock is today. Who would be the winner, in your opinion?

Muhammadu Buhari, APC (74%, 2,063 Votes)
Goodluck Jonathan, PDP (26%, 721 Votes)

Total Voters: 2,784

Mr. shekau released another video recently, I have gone through his speech and his claims are not only anti Islam but also very ridiculous for someone who claims to know the Quran.

The following are his claims....

CLAIM 1:-"“We have not made ceasefire with anyone. We did not negotiate with anyone… It’s a lie. It’s a lie. We will not negotiate. “What is our business with negotiation? Allah said we should not negotiate,” (SHEKAU)RESPONSE:- ALLAH SAYS: "If they propose peace to you, accept it and trust in God. God is All-hearing and All-knowing” (Q 8:61)

CLAIM 2:-"The kidnapped girls, we have forced them to change to Islam, and they've learnt 2 chapters of Quran already".(SHEKAU)RESPONSE:- “Let there be no compulsion in religion...” (Q2:256)

CLAIM 3:-"Which girls are they talking about, the chibok girls; I told you I have married them off, and they have settled in their matrimonial home” (SHEKAU)RESPONSE:-"Do not inherit women against their will" (Qur’an4:19)

CLAIM 4:-"our war is still on cause" what is the war....the war to make everyone Muslim”RESPONSE:-“If it had been your Lord's will, all of the people on Earth would have believed [in one religion]…” (Q10:99)

May Allah destroy the enemies of our peaceful deen. Type Amen and share your thoughts if you believe that Boko haram groups are the enemies of Islam and Nigeria.

Politics / Angry PDP Senators Threaten To Dump PIB, 2015 Budget Bill, Others by hayzed2: 7:49pm On Nov 04, 2014
Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic
Party, (PDP), Tuesday, threatened to ignore all executive
bills, including the much awaited Petroleum Industry Bill
(PIB) and the 2015 Appropriation Bill.
The PDP Senators alleged that the just concluded election of
Ward delegates by the PDP was skewed in favour of the PDP
state governors who had lined up their loyalists to take over
the seats of the legislators.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the PDP
Caucus in the Senate for which the Senate session was
abruptly stopped on Tuesday.
Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided
over the sitting that lasted for just a few minutes had barely
announced the holding of the caucus meeting when Senate
Majority leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, moved a motion for
the suspension of all items in the Order Paper to allow PDP
members proceed to the Senate President's office where the
meeting was held.

Politics / Majek Fashek: “I Am Going Into Politics In 2015" by hayzed2: 6:46am On Nov 04, 2014
I swear this article got me laughing more than anything else today, hahahahahahaha!!!!!

Here it is, veteran Nigerian musician, Majek Fashekhas seriously opened up today and said he intends to go into politics in 2015.

The ‘Send Down The Rain’ singer who ruled Nigerian music in the early 90s believes he has the power to support political aspirants next year.

In an interview with Pulse, Majek Fashek revealed that he is making the step into the political world to support the President of Nigeria,Goodluck Jonathan, and push him for re-election in next year’s general election.

“Next year, I’m going to be entering into politics. I am going to be in the PDP”, Majek declared. “I will support the president. I will support the president and the governor, that’s why I enter into politics. With my knowledge in the American world, presidency is not my calling, I’m a revolutionary musician, so what I can do with the power God gave to me is to support the government so that they can help the poor.”

Majek Fashek also revealed that he has no interest in occupying Aso Rock. For him, it is too much of work to be the president.

“The presidency is too much work, I don’t like it. Instead of me to become a president, I will support the president.”

Majek Fashek also believes we are in an era of political transformation, and the only good choice of government lies in continuation.

“In 2015, I am supporting Goodluck Jonathan, because he needs a second term like Obama. We are in the political era, and we are going into political transition. We either re-elect Goodluck Jonathan or somebody else. But so far, I think Goodluck needs second term to try his best.”

Majek Fashek will be performing at the ‘Africa Meets Reggae And World Music International Festival’ on November 29, at the National Stadium, Lagos. He will be joined by other veteran acts such as Victor Essiet, Ortis Williki and Righteous Man.

But why would they post this kinda article about Uche losing her baby just based on a bunch of pictures without any sort of confirmation from her. This is the height of irresponsible gutter journalism. They even wrote the article as if they were very sure that she has lost the pregnancy. Loss of a baby is not something to be joked with just to get a few website clicks. If they couldn't get confirmation from her they should not have gone ahead to write this. smh
Remember when Beyonce attended an interview while pregnant and people said her pregnancy was fake. She did not respond at all then, but only few weeks ago she released a picture of herself while pregnant with her bare baby bump. In short, the fact that Uche Jombo has refused to respond now is not a conclusive indication that she has truly lost her baby.
