Business / FG To Honour 100 Top Business Organisations In Nigeria In December by hayzed2: 4:59am On Nov 03, 2014
The federal government has concluded plans to honour 100 top business Organisations in Nigeria in December.

The initiative, a brainchild of President Goodluck Jonathan, is aimed at identifying and bestowing on highly performing business concerns presidential honour that will further encourage and ginger them to contribute to the economy in more significant ways.

To actualise this, the Minister of Trade and Investment Dr. Olusegun Aganga, has set up a Business Assessment Committee, headed by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Mr. Jim Obazee.

Inaugurating the committee on Friday in Abuja, Aganga said the body had a mandate to critically scrutinise businesses operating within the Nigerian economic space and come up with top 100 among them that meet global best practices.

Such business that will qualify for the presidential award, the minister added, would be among the companies generating high volume of employment opportunities in the economy.

A statement by the Consultant to the initiative, Mrs. Funmi Ogbue, said, “The aim of the presidential honour for the top 100 Businesses in Nigeria is to identity, recognise and celebrate businesses that are contributing to the economy and are ethically above board in their business dealings in line with global best practices.

“Nigeria as the largest economy in Africa and one of the emerging economies on the world stage needs to encourage ethical corporate governance and celebrate businesses that are growing the economy.”

Politics / Jonathan Should Explain How Nigeria Was Swindled By A Fake BH Negotiator – APC by hayzed2: 11:33pm On Nov 02, 2014
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said President Goodluck Jonathan owed Nigerians an explanation over the ceasefire deal with Boko Haram announced on October 17, which later turned out to be fake as the leadership of the sect has described the man, with whom the deal was struck as an impostor.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement on Sunday said Jonathan needs to tell Nigerians what he plans to do to address the embarrassment he has brought upon the nation. The party also described as extremely painful how the hopes of the parents of the abducted Chibok girls had been raised on the imminent return of their children.

“President Jonathan owes Nigerians an explanation on what has now turned to be an unprecedented global faux pas. Engaging in cheap damage control by insisting on the genuineness of the deal will only amount to taking Nigerians for a ride.

“Now the parents and indeed all Nigerians have been victimized for the umpteenth time by the same government that has failed in its main reason for existence, which is the security and welfare of the citizenry.

“The ceasefire deal with Boko Haram was announced at the highest level of the military and supported by the political authority on Oct. 17th. Now that it has been described as a fluke, there is every indication that the Jonathan Administration was swindled by someone masquerading as a Boko Haram negotiator, while the Administration itself went ahead to fool Nigerians as well as the international community. Whatever happens, the sole responsibility falls on the Administration.

“Following the gleeful announcement of the deal and despite the doubts surrounding it, our party deliberately refrained from commenting on it and even wished it was real so that our long-suffering people can get some respite from the devilish terror group that has dispatched thousands into their early graves, maimed even many more and ruined the economic and social life of a large chunk of the society.

“When Boko Haram continued to carry out deadly attacks and annex territories, despite the so-called ceasefire, we waited for the government to tell Nigerians what was happening, but there was no convincing explanation. When the date announced for the release of the girls passed, we waited for the government to tell Nigerians what the problem was, but all we got from the easily excitable and trifling presidential spokesmen was platitude.

“Now that the deal is said to be a fluke and everything points to that, the Jonathan Administration must be contrite enough to own up to its gaffe, if indeed it is one, or its contrived deceit, and also face the possible consequences from a stupefied citizenry. It cannot and must not just be another forgotten instance in a series of gaffes by a serial bumbling government,” APC said.

Celebrities / Cossy Steps Out Bra-less For Halloween by hayzed2: 11:26pm On Nov 02, 2014
I shared a couple of photos of outfits Nigerian celebs wore to mark the Halloween feast day, but i left out Cossy’s.

Controversial singer and actress Cossy Orjiakor’s idea of Halloween is a bit different from what we know.

Cossy Orjiakor, who is well known for her massive b**bs and how she is so proud to show them off, yesterday stepped out for Halloween in a risque costume that threatened to tear away.

She allowed her ‘melons’ hang out loosely. According to her, this is her first time she is making an appearance without the usual support.

Celebrities / BREAKING NEWS: Uche Jumbo Loses Pregnancy To Miscarriage! by hayzed2: 11:05pm On Nov 02, 2014
It's no news that Nollywood actress, Uche Jumbo was heavily pregnant and we all had thought she was going to pop any time soon.

Remember she traveled to the US to be with her husband, Kenny Rodriquez and to deliver her baby but now, that hope has been dashed!

The actress who is still in the US, was at the premiere of Folly in New York City last night, Saturday, Nov.1, and her stomach is just flat!

Where is the pregnancy?

We searched every corner, maybe it's hiding but she looks normal and not pregnant here.

Oh gosh!

This needs no special announcement from her.

It's so painful!

Politics / Speaker Tambuwal Gets OPC Protection by hayzed2: 7:28pm On Nov 02, 2014
Reports just coming in from Abuja inform that the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal has got a new security detail after the policemen protecting him was withdrawn by the Presidency last week.

According to a news report aired by TV Continental in Lagos on Sunday, 2 November, 2014, about 60 members of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, are now protecting Tambuwal in Abuja.

The OPC is a Yoruba nationalist organisation situated in western Nigeria.

Though details of this development are still being expected, it was gathered that the OPC members now follow Tambuwal to all his destinations.

The House of Reps is presently on recess till 3 December.
Speaker Tambuwal had described the removal of his security detail by the Inspector General of Police as a a ploy to bring harm to his person.

The lawmaker had few days ago dragged the the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba to court for removing his security details.

Tambuwal was said to have stormed the Federal High Court in Abuja along with his lawyers and members of the House at about 12:40 p.m on Friday to file a suit challenging the withdrawal of his security details.

Tambuwal had on Tuesday, October 28, formally announced his defection from the PDP to the APC,shocking his colleagues.

According to report, the PDP is planning a shocker for Tambuwal as he may be barred from entering his office.

A top Presidency source explained that the decision to strip Tambuwal of all the rights and privileges was taken based on legal submission.
