Hi guys...
I got new lifepo4 batteries:
12v 172ah
24v 300ah

(A) I have a pwm solar charger for charging the 12v 172ah using only 4 X 100w panels.

Is that OK, or should I use an mppt solar charger that? If yes, which mppt should I use for such battery?

(B) For the 24v 300ah, which mppt do you advice me to get for optimal charging of lifepo4 battery?

I don't know much about all these, that's why I'm asking for trusted specific products for both scenarios. Thanks

1. Keep that PWM charger away from your lifepo4 battery, please. You can get decent MPPTs that are cheap and still charge lifepo4 without issues.

2. Any if the notable brands should be able to charge Lifepo4.

100 million naira won't even scratch the surface to bring this to life in today's price..

Surely just because of the brands that were used?

You can get an identical setup for like 50-60m if done with the likes of Growatt, Felicity, and Jinko.

Hey all hope Ure great

Recently added a 4.6KW PV to my 5kva inverter setup ( for 8 units of 580w jinko panels from fuoani)

I noticed that the PV only peaks 3,000w between 9am and 12 noon, after that time frame it just coasts around 1,000w and when load is added to it surges to 1900w max... By 3pm it drops to 800w

Please is the norm or might the PV array not have being optimally placed on the roof.

My setup consists of

5kva Growatt hybrid inverter

4 luminous 220ah tubular batteries

8 580w jinko monocrystalline solar panels

My average load during the day: 300w - 800w

One or two surges in load during the day to 2,000w for max time of 30 mins

Night time : 14 hrs of 500w

Take into account above scenario is off grid as there hasn't been electricity for 4 days

I don't think you have an issue. Your PVs will only supply the amount of power you actually need, so as long as your batteries are fully charged and your loads are carried, not sure why you'd need more production.

If you want to check your actual peak production in the afternoon, put on heavy load of around that 4kw and see how much your PVs can bring in.

Not a wise expenditure, you will spend more on the long run. When you install an inverter and battery, and light power goes of for 2 hours, traditionally you will switch over to inverter. Ok, you drain 5KWh from your battery before power is restored, your inverter will have to use your Units of 5KWh + Energy used in conversion and powering system components to dump back that 5KWh into the battery (a process we call recharging the battery) so you might end up using up to 7KWh energy to recharge your battery that you drained 5KWh from except you are not paying for the power supply you are getting.

So you see, you took less and paid more.

Solar is the way to go bro, If you ain't doing solar, don't waste your money. This is an advice you may not comprehend right away though.

Ultimately depends on how much he pays for electricity. Especially if he's not metered and pays a flat rate.

hello,i have a temporal office, nothing major.....and they have light 4hrs everyday,i want a simple inverter that can power the office when the light is off, would not want to start installing solar panels.

Well, what you want is an inverter + battery.

Get a hybrid inverter of your choice.

Get a DIY lifepo4 battery from isangjohnson or Valto.

The specifications of both will depend on your load and how long you need the battery to last.

Here is what you are looking for. I get the feeling all Spf5000s can be overpanelled including the 18A but you must perform a firmware upgrade especially on the 18As.

https://www.amosplanet.org/forums/topic/overpaneling-on-spf5000es/

Edit: Also discovered that Timselectric was using the 18a version and his parallel setup simply capped his available amps at 18.2A. So looks likes you can parallel either, the inverter simply won’t draw more than the max (18 or 22). Hence Amos’s comments about waste if you overpanel excessively.

I don't really understand the talk about exceeding input current leading to the inverter shutting down.

Unlike voltage, current is drawn, not pushed. Your PVs won't be sending current to your inverter; it's your inverter that draws what it needs (and should be limited to the specified pv input C). Find it hard to believe an inverter would be stupid enough to draw more current than it can work with undecided

We don finally enter rainy season proper.

Na trenches be this for solar walahi. My setup isn't able to add more than 50% charge to my 4KWH battery in a day for the past few days, especially since I'm off-grid and there's rarely NEPA light anyway.

If this persists, I'll need to add an extra panel to my string.

This is my personal and honest review about Valto.
I bought a 15kwh LiFePO4 battery at 2.8M from him April this year, which is supposed to have a "Premium BMS". This system was installed by Dam5Reey1 (God bless this man).
We had other options (with communication and better features) but then, we thought let's patronize our naija guy, a decision which i have come to regret.
During the process of installation it was almost like we were chasing this guy to give answers to necessary questions on battery (it is always single to few words without clear instructions). Just on the third/forth day after installation, the BMS began to misbehave (we were unable to view the battery readings on the provided mobile app). The only "solution" he came up with was an image of battery voltage reading with respective battery equal. Is this what I paid for?.
He even asked sarcastically that "is the battery not working?". Which means since the battery "is working", i should forget issue of the BMS, who does that?

Is a functioning BMS not part of what I paid for?
He never provided any working solution to the problem till today neither did he checkup to see if the issue has been resolved or even ask how the battery is doing.

I woke up today with the system off due to low battery because I was unable to check the status of the battery. I am not even a heavy user. I use only 1 TV (during the day), 2 fan, and my Freezer (not always on), with few bulbs.

I am leaving this out here for others to see. If i had seen a review like this, i would not have gone ahead with the purchase.
You might have a different encounter but this is my personal experience with his much talked about "Grade A" cells!

Yikes.

This is the voltage and the charging has started and it just increased. Is there anything I can do to control or regulate it of make it operate fine?

Edit: I think I need time to understand this. I think I see it better now.

None of those pictures show PV input voltage.

First is AC output, second is battery voltage. It probably wasn't charging earlier because PV input voltage wasn't high enough.

Update on the AC:

So I toyed around with some of the functions few hours ago.

° Immediately after turning it on, I started by running it in Jet mode to rapidly cool down the room. Consumption ramped up to the usual 1070w -ish. The room cooled down from 30deg to 27deg in about 30 minutes after which the Jet mode then automatically (as is indicated in the manual) changed from Jet mode to regular mode. The indicator on the remote control also indicated the change.

° At that point, the consumption had dropped to 940w and another one hour it dropped further to 840 watts. At this point I pressed the "Gen mode" button repeatedly but expectedly no obvious response or change in consumption.

° Next, I fondled with the "mode" button and to select the "Automatic mode" on the remote. Then following the manual instructions on the use of the mode function (picture attached), I selected "number 2" (keep room cold), and the internal fan ramped down its speed but the vanes kept moving and I also noticed that the external unit fan also stopped and the consumption dropped to 15w. It remained at 15w for about 30 minutes after which I drove out somewhere and left it on but monitoring the consumption on the phone. Apparently it was recirculating the already cold air that is in the room.

° Another one hour and I noticed that the consumption had ramped up to 271w and stayed there. Since I wasn't at home, I couldn't tell what was going on. I came home after 2 hours and noticed that the external unit had kicked in, and was probably responsible for that ramp up to 271w from the initial 15w. The room temperature remained at between 26deg to 27deg. It's four hours after and the consumption had further dipped to 267w

It seems there is something "energy saving" about this unit after all. Although I assume temperatures still get to as low as 18 deg with these ACs, the 26 degrees notwithstanding is adequate for a lone me in the room.

I guess cos of that "automatic mode", if it again senses ambient temperature rise due to presence of increased number of people in the room, it will likely ramp up the consumption further to do the job to maintain the expected cooling temperature.

NB: Pardon the long story. I just felt being detailed enough helps to inform readers, and maybe prospective users, better on these things.

Great post, thanks for updating.

Differences are just in their performance options and a few difference in functions and trims. some are v6 naturally aspirated, some bi-turbos while some v8 NA and V8 bi-turbo.

The lexuses are far more reliable anytime anyday, but for the same price...? i'll rather be cruising around in luxury

There's no V8 car listed in his post. The GLE450, GLE450 AMG, and GLE43 he named all use the same Turbocharged M276.

Any idea on how reliable it would be in Nigerian roads compared with Lexus RX or GX of same year

Lexus will be more reliable at the end of the day, but I don't think the GLE has any fatal flaws.

For the same money, I'd do the GLE for sure.

Good morning o, I’m new to solar systems and would like to build my first one. Gotten some advice from a friend but I’ve been stuck deciding which brand of tubular batteries or solar panels to get as I was told some can be unreliable. Some brands I’ve been shown include super speed and campeon.

Please kindly suggest which brands for batteries and panels are recommended and which I should avoid. If you have an idea of the prices, that will be appreciated

Jinko panels from Fouani.

Forget tubular batteries and go with lithium.

They said something however that caught my attention. That their AC sales (demands by customers) are mostly Hisense and that before they get to sell one unit LG, they've already cleared like 10 units Hisense ACs.

Makes sense since Hisense is considerably cheaper. I bought a 1.5 HP Hisense inverter AC for 340k when LG 1 HP was like 385k

Also, Hisense ACs actually perform really well. LG reputation has taken a hit over the last year as well.

Las las Panasonic na baba.

Hello house

What’s the difference between GLE43, GLE 450 and GLE450 AMG 2017/2018 models in terms of adaptability to Nigerian roads, ease of use by Nigerian owners, handling and comfortability(SUV version not the coupe).
Also what can you say about the reliability as compared to GLE 350 of the same year.

Pretty sure those three cars are essentially all the same thing under the hood.

Differences will likely be in design, options, exhaust and engine tuning, and ride comfort.

How many hours of use can I get from the 100ah lfp battery, if fully charged and on a, let's say, 600-800w load

25.6*100aH = 2.56kwh

80% DoD = 2.048kwh

600w = 3h24m of usage.

600w seems very well on the high side for night-time power consumption, though.
