Actually a great question. I think it'd mostly come down to personal preference.

Materials in the ES are better, stereo is better, ride quality is better, insulation and refinement are better.

Accord is newer, cabin tech is better, powertrain is better, design is better, driving dynamics are better.

I would personally go for the Accord. The 2016 would be a no-brainer, but the 2015 is very close.

Honda oil life monitoring doesn't use mileage as far as I know. Uses things like number of cold starts, engine loads, rpms, etc since the last oil change.

Contrary to as perceived, - 2014 vehicle models do not have sensors to determine when your oil is bad. Of course the oil pressure sensor can sense low oil pressure, not even necessarily a reflection of the level of your oil.


The oil life algorithm is based on mileage, for most vehicles it is set at 5,000 miles/Km. That is why it is advised you use the recommended oil for your oil changes. If you use a low grade oil, and rely on the oil life to determine when to change your oil,
you can as well do a early sendforth for your engine.

If your oil service lights comes on, and you reset it without changing the oil, your car assumes you've done an oil change and starts the mileage covered count.

When you are dutiful enough to record your mileage at oil change, and do a reset yourself, and confirm it is done, then check the next mileage the oil change light comes on, then you will understand it.

Vehicles are not yet as smart to know degraded oils. Service lights are programmed on vehicles with mileages covered

Keeping the revs at 3,000RPM does not in anyway mean you would be slow.
As a matter of fact, you could be at that RPM and still be cruising at 80MPH or more if you drive light without passengers onboard.

Oh to quote you from way back, you once said horsepower means nothing when it comes to speed. Now you're mentioning your coupe's horsepower when talking about speed. You contradict yourself sometimes.

As far as I know, all I've ever said is that power and weight are what matter for speed. So unless you think your ZDX is light, I'm not sure what your point is.

Your ZDX isn't meant to be driven fast, don't deceive yourself. It's a simple SOHC 3.7L V6 in a massive SUV meant for comfort and cargo.

Utter nonsense. I have a coupe with a huge ~400 HP V8 that's sprints to 60 in about 4.5s and even I wouldn't say it's meant to be driven fast. Because it's not.

Don't fool yourself into thinking that your ZDX is some sort of performance-oriented vehicle. It's not. Great crossovers, though, I absolutely love them.

Bro, I beg to differ on your understanding of breaking in. Break in occurs when a car is bought from factory brand new till 1,000 miles. The driver varies speed of the engine and does not load the engine to high rpm’s usually below 4000 rpms. Upshift early and be easy with luggage and passengers so as not to put strain and stress on the drive train.

But this ACURA ZDX, probably is more than 120,000 miles on the dash needs no break in procedure except the engine was rebuilt recently or a brand new engine (not tokunbo) was installed into it.

Not directly but indirectly.

Regular fuel will make that engine run rich.
Running rich will burn out or melt the catalysts.

When the catalyst melts, it chokes the engine making it overwork and causing overheat.

It happens a lot on Honda engines.

I do not think that is what happened in Melvin's case as this scenario usually also presents the symptom of engine being severely underpowered and excessive fuel consumption..

That's a very niche scenario and we both know that.

Though I should point out that almost two years ago, he was already complaining about a hotter than normal engine bay.

Well, no one did, when the issue started, I underestimated the gravity of the problem so I was just throwing parts at it. Before I know what was happening, I was deep in it. We changed head gasket and that messed the engine up. The transmission had its own minor problems in the past so I decided to just fix both by buying complete engine and gearbox. Now the engine and gear are in perfect condition, everything else is fine except the overheating.

With all the money I spent trying to save that car, It was really sad, that's why it hurts when some idiot here said I'm just showing off a car when I was asking a genuine question just to avoid a repeat of whatever happened to the other car. The car is parked in my compound now. People adviced me to sell it but I can't get myself to do that. My conscience won't let me do it.
