nwigwemark: From the write up I can understand that the drivers are only interested in Uber and Taxify increasing the transportation fares so that they will get more money.
We are always selfish and I am very sure that this will fail from ab initio because as they leave the platform of Über and Taxify, more drivers will definitely get onboard and I am 10000% sure that the so called local app can never compete with the established companies Don't mind the greedy and primitive idiots. God knows how much I hate all these retrogressive unionism nonsense. If you don't like Uber or Bolt as a driver or car owner, you're free to quit and join any of these rubbish local ones. Why forcefully drag everyone else in the name of one stupid union? Trust Nigerians to try to spoil every good thing with their greed, poor attitude and incompetence. |

My comments, on we making these Social Media CEOs too powerful, is based on critical thinking not based on any political sentiments.
I just feel, these guys are having unnecessarily, too much influence and control, Which I know is destructive. They have succeeded in putting people in subconscious chains, with so much herd mentality in display.
You discover that people do things or take positions, simply because it's popular on social media.
Theses guy's can make anything popular, they can hide the truth and make their opinions, popular and easily available.
That's why I feel, we're making them too powerful. It wasn't in response to Buhari or Politics. But your opinion was given in the context and in the wave of the Buhari Presidency's ridiculously tyrannical twitter ban. Hardly an auspicious time for an 'objective' opinion of the sort you hold. |

Imagine. So in Buhari's Nigeria, terrorism (real Boko Haram terrorism o, not IPOB rubbish) financing attracts mere fines. You simply pay fines for funding Islamist terrorists with billions to buy weapons.
Yet every male youth in Imo state is a walking dead in the eyes of Nigeria's jihadist security forces on hateful suspicion of being IPOB members.
In other words, belong to or support Boko Haram or Fulani bandits, you gonscpt free. But be an IPOB member or anything else, then there's a death sentence on your head.

That's why I have really never been in support of Biafra per se, or of balkanising Nigeria into umpteen countries.
The more sensible and reasonable and pragmatic and BEST option is a Republic of Southern Nigeria (plus portions of the Middle Belt). Our biggest problem is the core North, with its Islamic rubbish, archaic ways of life, and resistance to meritocracy and modernity. Cut off these animals and the rest of 'civilised' Nigeria can find effective ways to manage our diversity and build a strong, ojoro-proof, progressive country that would quickly become one of Africa's leading lights. |

The people killing farmers who resist the grazing of their farms are FULANI.
The kidnappers waylaying traffic on our highways are FULANI.
The terrorists who have arrived from Mali, Chad and Niger Republics and have surrounded the forests of Western Nigeria are FULANI.
Clearly, there's a FULANIZATION agenda... . This is the basis for the Fulani phobia, and I find it repulsive that Kperogi is painting the matter as if the South demonises Fulani because of Buhari. Senseless. Fulani is demonised (justifiably so) because of the issues you raised up there. Why would a band of idiots from a single ethnic group continually terrorise communities across the South and yet expect that they wouldn't be demonised? |

All this nonsense tribalism you guys ( Igbos, Yorubas, ijaws, etc) are showing on nairaland is funny. You all are not the representatives of the people and have no influence to do anything if your people choose otherwise. You are just an individual. N.b I still know that 90% of people here are not from the tribe they claim on nairaland. Most of this thing started after asaba declaration by the governors The funny but serious truth is that the entire South (Igbos, ijaws, Itsekiris, Binis, Yoruba, etc), even plus the Middle Belt, have populations and elites that are fundamentally liberal, cosmopolitan, and reasonable. Even if Igbos and South South decide to form a Republic... Or even if the entire South plus Middle Belt decides to band together to dislodge the problematic abokkis and form a Republic, REASON would prevail in deliberations and a number of concrete, foolproof legal/constitutional provisions would be instituted to prevent any sort of bias, dominance, or 'ojoro' of any sort. This would be easy to achieve because these peoples in spite of their ethnic differences share the same way of life, largely same (liberal) religious backgrounds, and so forth. Reason would always prevail in any and all deliberations on matters concerning how the union would run. The only people impervious to reason as far as I know as the Fulani/Hausa core North. That's why it is impossible to maintain this contraption called Nigeria. |

They will find an excuse to extend Buhari's tenure into an indefinite civilian dictatorship and will NOT conduct elections in 2023. I repeat, THERE WOULD BE NO ELECTION IN 2023.

The factors that caused OBJ to fail, are not present in today's administration. He has a weak VP and a rubberstamp National Assembly that act on his neck and call, the military has been heavily compromised, so, a coup is unlikely to happen.
The greatest thing Buhari may have to fear is a citizen's revolt, and Nigeria is set up in such a way, right now, that it could regress to a full on war.
As opined by a Twitter user, Nigeria will sooner implode on its own, than break up into tiny nations. But imploding will invariably lead to a break up into tinier nations? Or what exactly do you mean? Nothing implodes and remains intact. |
