SARSCoV2: Learning from other countries who have broken similar challenges being presently faced by Nigeria.
What does Nigeria have to learn from Egypt that is far ahead of us in all ramifications. We do not share similar ideology, culture and system of government.
We could as well learn from America, Germany or the United kingdom if we desperate to start from the top, which will still be of no use.
Rwanda and Ghana are fastest growing economies who happen to just be coming out of the shackles and challenges being presently faced by Nigeria, and such destination would have been worthwhile as their are still evident developmental tracts which are visible and presently working for them.
If you must import ideas, you have to import from where best fits your scenario. Not importing ideas from Alaska to West Africa.
Abeg remove Ghana from your list. Ghana government is 10 thanx worse than Nigeria government.
The only reason why I prefer Atiku to Peter Obi, is that Atiku's presidency is realistic now, while that of Peter Obi is not realistic, considering his party
Do you know labour party has over 3.5 million members? All the workers in Nigeria are members if you don't know. Now they are coming back to their party, including the youth that are against the candidacy of both Buhari and Atiku.
nighter: I listed Tinubu's achievements as requested by one idiot help2020, some of which were not captured in op's post. Rather than acknowledge his achievements and awards to his name, the idiot asked me why Tinubu still travels abroad for medical care if indeed he transformed the health sector in Lagos State, as if Tinubu is the only nigerian politician that goes abroad for his medicals.
Before you ask me such a stupid question, list Peter Obi's achievements side by side Tinubu's own, then we can talk. Nonsense.
See mumu, are not you ashamed to even read this your post? You said he transformed health sector, why is he not using the transformed sector? You can't use your Brain, let tinubu continue to use it for you, idiot. I spit on your head
LegendHero: 6. Investment: Lekki Free Trade Zone opened Lagos to investors and now several top companies/bodies have their headquarters there including the biggest consulate office of the USA. Lekki infrastructure company, Eko Atlantic.
7. Housing: Decentralization of the ministry of works and housing gave birth to the conversion of the housing department to a full fledge ministry which was charged with providing 500 units of houses yearly. This single move led to making the Lekki corridor the fastest growing real estate investment haven in Nigeria. Housing sector was opened to the private investors and Lagos became the highest destination for real estate investors in Nigeria.
8. EDUCATION: Payment of WAEC fee for students from all walks of life so far you live in Lagos. Several schools were built. The One-Day governor program started with the spelling bee competition. First of its kind
9. SECURITY: The closest thing to state policing started in Nigeria under Tinubu, with RRS in 1999. The prisons reformation in order to curb activities of criminals, led to conversion of Ita Oko Prisoners Camp to a Youth Skill Acquisition Centre. Infact RRS is now the most performing police force in Nigeria. To make things work, he created the Lagos security trust fund where private sector come together to invest in Lagos security in conjunction with the government.
nighter: Ok since you don't want to ask him, maybe you should instruct Peter Obi to ask him.
Stop shifting the post. You listed his achievement and I only asked you one question and now you want me to ask him. Before you listed his achievement which don't you get the full answer to all question pertaining ur candidate?
Mysticwebb: I don't understand how this thing is going anymore. Why are they against Tinubu? Where did Tinubu use "Pura and nunu" to describe them? The other one is talking about Muslim Muslim ticket when it is just a rumour. What has Obi done for them that someone there is printing hijjab for him and doing house to house campaign for him? Instead of doing it for Tinubu that has been doing everything for them like giving them food during their festivities for free.
They are Nigerians, they want the best for Nigeria. We are doing this to let APC and PDP know that there is a price for taking people granted. Look at the state of our nation, can you be proud to be a Nigerian right now?
blackpanda: because he has demonstrated exceeding capacity to lead. He's a legend. The peter obi that everyone is making noise about is living in Lagos o. U can't compare both.
I don't know why you had to bring Lagos in,but do you know Lagos was Nigeria capital city for over 66 years even before tinubu was born?
BritishNaija: I want to ask you a question, does US government calls the shot in privately owned companies? As long As you get paid by US Goverment in US dollars, it's not their business if you pay in Naira, just deliver service you paid for.
nighter: 1. Never owed civil servants their salaries. Always paid them as at when due. Only once did he owe for two months which he paid the arrears and bonus as compensation. 2. Free education for Lagos State owned schools. @ university level, free education for indigenes only. 3. Reformed the health ministry. Renovated govt owned hospitals, built maternity hospitals in all the local govts, free healthcare for children under 18 and elderly folks. Free eye care and surgeries for elderly folks too. Also subsidized drugs. Provided more ambulances across the local govts and on expressways too. 4. Created new agencies thereby creating more jobs for lagosians, generating more revenue and halting dependence on fed allocation. 5. Some igbos became house of assembly members. 6. There you have it!!
But why didn't he use the hospital he built when he was sick? Why going to London? Bro this is suppose to be a reason to vote against him. Can you go for medical treatment outside Nigeria? I guess No Many millions of Nigerians can't afford it,but our leaders that should built a good one for us goes outside for their treatment. Bro think deep,I have nothing against this man,but let's think about our country first.
Cyberterror: Nonsense report. Labour party is currently in court over who the authentic chairman is and as long as there is a legal dispute, no action as serious a merger can take place. Inec has set June 17 as deadline for submission of candidates while the Federal High Court will rule on June 30 on who the real LP chairman is. It is a certainty that the loser will appeal up to the supreme court.
We are now in June, your brain is still in may. Oga that matter has been resolved
LegendHero: I saw someone (@Mario9jaa) on Twitter give snippet of why Bola Tinubu should be elected president and I want Nairalanders to see this too.
This is why we are supporting Tinubu.
1. Power: Tinubu’s government, in 2000, contracted AES to build an IPP that will generate 270MW of electricity to Lagos residents in order to exit the irrational power supply being provided by the FG. The 270MW is now part of our national grid. It is the first of it’s Kind. Tinubu electrification project covered over 100 communities. In his first term, 53 rural communities were targeted. The projects were completed in Egan, Atewolere, Ifesowapo, Aboru, Agbado Ayetoro, Akorede, Isheri Ikosi, Orile Aguntan, Rofo, Borokini, Omologbede, Araromi, Oke Agbo, Erekusu, Logberu, Okegelu and Ebute, Lekki. Others were Origanringan, Onigbolakowe, Oke odo Elemoro, Ipaja Isale odo, Agenuba, Ajelogo, Mutaku, Egansando, Ayanfe, topo and Ikola Agbenaje.
2. Decentralization: In order to bring governance closer to the people of Lagos state, Asiwaju created extra 36 LCDAs which led to the disagreement between Lagos and the OBJ led FG. They are still working till date. Nigeria needs someone who believes in this! First of it’s kind
3. Economy: With an IGR of just over 600million naira when he took over, different initiatives which included the reorganization of the LIRS led to an unprecedented IGR of over 7billion monthly after 8 years, the sustainability of which has brought same to 57bn in 2022.
4. Health: Decentralization of the Health Management Board led to the creation of LASAMBUS, an ambulance management scheme, Hospital Services Commission and Lagos State Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency. In addition, policies such as “Roll Back Malaria”, “Jigi Bola, Free Health Policy for children below 16 year and adults above 65 years are verifiable ones that stood him out then. The First of its Kind.
