Celebrity Journalist, Ifetayo Adeniyi Bags Media Personality Of The Year Award

In recognition of his commitment to excellence and hard work, and for being a role model among the youths of South West region through his career, the publisher of Megastar Magazine, Mr. Ifetayo Adeniyi Moses has been honoured with award as 2022 media personality of the year.

The award was recently presented to him at the South West Advancement Award and Lecture series 2022.

The event took place at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Lagos, the nation's commercial capital.

Mr. Adeniyi who was represented by his niece, Miss Peace Adelugba expressed gratitude to the organisers of the award for deeming him worthy of recognition.

He was absent at the event because he was far away in Canada with Olu of Warri on official media engagement.

He pledged readiness to continue to be an examplary leader among the young members of the society in South West and beyond.

Ifetayo who is also the Media Director and principal Executive of Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation has since the award continued to receive felicitation messages from colleagues, friends and well wishers who describe the award as well deserved.

He is also an ordained Assistant Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

A 25-Year-Old Man has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command over alleged criminal trespassing and attempting to commit theft.

Jika John, who is from Michika Local Government Area but resides at Sabon Pegi in Wuro Chekke, Yola South LGA, in Adamawa State, was arrested on Monday, June 6, 2022.

He reportedly dressed as a woman and gained entrance into the College of Nursing and Midwifery Yola to steal gas cylinder from the female hostel.

He was apprehended following a distress call from the College.

Speaking to newsmen at the headquarters of the Police Command, the Suspect Jika claimed that there was a girl in the school who asked him to pay her a visit in order to have sex.

The suspect said that he made an arrangement with the girl on Sunday, June 5, 2022, to meet on Monday when all her roommates will be out of the hostel.

When Monday came, he wore female clothes so as to have easy access to the hostel.

Jika said that he was apprehended by security while on his way to the hostel between 7:30 to 8:00 pm.

He insisted that his plan was to go and have sex and not to steal.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the OC Crack Squad of the Police Command, CSP Ahmed Danjuma Gombi, said that it was not true that he was in the school to have sex with a lady but to steal gas cylinders in order to sell it.

Hello guys good day hope y'all are doing great.

Am writing this with so much grief in my heart as I feel depressed, sometimes love can come with somuch pains and joy at same time.

So recently I agreed with my fiance to relocate to a different city since she got a job over there, we agreed a scheduled time we wil have to see each other within a specific period of time. This is someone we share everything in common the love was great, she's an awesome soul to be sincere.

I got so much attached to her, that it made me felt lonely and empty when she left, due to that reason I always want to call and check up frequently, This has been going on For about 4 weeks consistently, the first red flag I noticed was that she asked me not to be calling her frequently that sometimes it's not really cool with her, I respected that fact and reduced the way I call but I was beginning to loose the trust I had for her.

She goes out with her friend frequently and they love partying, even when I consistently warn her about the late nights they keep most times in clubs and partying she keeps telling me she's not a kid and she can handle things herself. Lately the relationship have been filled with lots of argument, misunderstanding, and the trust is beginning to reduce drastically.

Yesterday she uploaded a nasty picture as her display pics on WhatsApp, she was just putting on a top without bra, though she's busty and all that, I asked her take it down and upload something more appealing and decent that am not comfortable with such pics, she began to rant and start saying all manner of things like it's her privacy,her phone, her body,and she decides what to do with it, am an African man and I don't welcome this woke mentality of women nowadays, feeling they need to be half naked to feel sexy I can't cope with such indecent dressing, I told her am not trying to tell her what to do but atleast you should respect my opinion sometimes, I got angry and sent her a very long message about my displeasure. since then she has refused to pick my calls nor reply my messages.

She tried calling earlier today but I didn't pick, I couldn't sleep through out the night the whole drama was just playing in my Head.

Guys is this enough reason to call of a relationship or are my just being too self centered? have actually made up my mind just need to hear from different and more matured people in the house.

Nigerian woman living in Canada Idayat Saka, denied residency, could be deported because she had a baby.

A Nigerian, Idayat Saka who works in Toronto as a health-care worker did exactly what her doctor told her to do to protect herself and her baby. The 33-year-old mother of four stopped working at the beginning of her third trimester of pregnancy due to “high-risk” complications from prior cesarean births.

What Saka couldn’t have known at the time was that her decision to stop working when she did would later be used by an immigration officer to deny her permanent residency in Canada.

This rejection means Saka, her husband and two of their children could soon be deported to Nigeria. Her youngest sons, ages three and one, can’t be deported because they’re Canadian.

“I was crying. I was done,” Saka stated to Afrotimes News, explaining the heartbreak she felt when her application to remain in Canada was rejected. Saka and her husband are failed asylum seekers.

They came to Canada in October 2017 after they say their lives were threatened by gunmen in Nigeria. These claims were later dismissed.

After they arrived in Canada, Saka went back to school to become a personal support worker and spent more than 2,000 hours caring for sick and elderly patients in Ontario during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of this work occurred during the deadly third and fourth waves of the virus.

She applied for permanent residency in Canada through a special program set up by former Liberal immigration minister Marco Mendicino. The program recognizes the “exceptional service” of failed and pending asylum seekers who’ve worked on the front lines of the pandemic by offering them an alternative pathway to residency.

But Saka’s application was rejected by an officer at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada because she didn’t meet one of the program’s basic requirements: having worked at least 120 hours between March 13, 2020 (the day pandemic travel restrictions were first introduced in Canada) and Aug. 14, 2020 (the day Mendicino announced the program).

Because the program was announced months after Saka went on leave, there was no way for her to know this decision would later be used to deny her residency. “Whenever I think about it I’m so depressed,” she said. Saka is appealing the decision to the Federal Court.

If Saka wins her case at the Federal Court, her application will be sent back to another immigration officer for reconsideration. Fraser could also intervene and allow her and her family to stay.

Whatever the outcome, Saka feels like she’s earned the right to remain in Canada. “I’ve worked for it and I’m still working,” she declared to Afrotimes News.

The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Li Lei Lei, a Chinese national, to 24 months imprisonment
for mutilating the Nigerian currency before Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The convict was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on tampering of the Nigerian note, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Establishment) Act.
