Thank you Gaspet.

Gaspet:
It depends on the school you're applying to, but it's best you take the IELTS to be on the safe side. I hear all UK schools will soon require an English test pretty soon (not sure how true this is though)

Hello All.

I am new to this thread. I have decided to apply to UK schools for my grad studies.

Before I go back and start reading all the posts in the thread, please can you answer one question for me. I've googled it and I'm still confused.

Do I need to write an English Test (IELTS, TOEFL, etc) for the UK Tier 4 Student Visa?

Thanks
Travel / Re: Dubai Tram: Why Don't We Have This Mode Of Public Transport In Nigeria? (Photos) by HerMoney: 3:25pm On Dec 12, 2019
I was in Dubai recently and I really enjoyed taking the metro. It saved me a whole lot of money. So many people ride the metro, even working professionals. Their taxi system is also very well organised. Their taxis are all metered and the least you can pay is 12 Dirham no matter how short the distance is. Their roads nko? I didn't know life could be different. When I came back to Nigeria, I was depressed for one whole week. Our leaders are cursed!

Second interview.. visa application refused.
My school resumes on the 15th of january.
Going to university of Illinois

Visa interview went like this:

VO: pass me your passport and i20 please
VO: do you work?
Me: mentioned where I work
VO: how did you come about this school?
Me: a seminar organised at the law school and one of the guest was an alumi. After the seminar, I had the chance to speak to him about my future academic plans and he referred the Illinois. I went further tho search on LSAC and usnews.com
VO: who will be sponsoring you?
Me: my Firm's managing partner, he is a senior advocate of nigeria. My uncle is also sponsoring.
VO: starts typing.....

Me: I was here previously on the 1st of November and the interviewer asked if I made any commitment to the school. I didn't then but now I was able to pay a seat deposit and sign an apartment lease.

VO: have you ever been applied for a visa to canada?
Me: yes I have. 6 years ago back when i was in the university
VO: what happened?
Me: it was refused.
VO. I have reviewed your application and you do not meet the requirements. Hands me the green slip

I feel so heartbroken.
Please I'll appreciate suggestions.
Obviously I can't make it this spring.

I am so sorry. I understand how you feel. I was denied twice too for Spring admission. I have already notified the school and inquired about the deferral process. I've also been denied a Canadian Study Visa but I'm not sure what impact that has because I've read an approved transcript here after 2 canadian denials. Others can read and let you know how to improve your answers on your next interview all I can say is don't give up hope. You are not alone.

He can't even get am emergency date coz he's been denied in the last 2 months. This is my predicament too. But I won't ask sb to shift their date for me even if it was possible. To the original poster - You think dates on the calendar have your name marked on them? You are funny indeed. Deferring is your next option.
Wilston:
Your thinking is wrong and inconsiderate , people should shift their interview date so you can get one ? you are very funny
Even if that happens what are your chances of even getting the open date when so many others are searching as well.
Try applying for an emergency date and prayerfully keep searching.

It's called reciprocity fee. When your visa is approved, you pay this.

Family / Re: I Easily Get Angry And Keep Malice A Lot, Please Help by HerMoney: 5:59pm On Jan 03, 2019
As much as you think this isn't a spiritual problem, it very much is. Don't let the devil deceive you by telling you its not because by refusing to acknowledge your real problem, you remain in bondage without solutions. This is how satan works my brother. He is subtle in his approach at keeping people chained. I agree with abiding by practical solutions to solve problems, however, when you tackle a problem spiritually, you destroy it from its roots and can enjoy lasting victory as a result.

What you are dealing with is a spirit of offense and pride.

This is at the root of your malice, resentment and unforgiveness towards people. This spirit has taken advantage of and twisted your sensitive nature, which God gifted you with to be loving and considerate of others. So my brother, if you are a christian and a believer in Jesus Christ, this is the year to surrender your life to Him and let His love and power transform you and change your heart. It is possible with the word of God and with faith because whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world and this is how we overcome, with our faith. I am very sure you are also struggling in other areas of your life in addition to the one you mentioned which is developing meaningful relationships. Do you know this is one way satan has stolen your peace and joy? So you see the effects are ripple. Unforgiveness blocks blessings in one's life.

Begin to study, meditate and speak scripture over your life specifically those that deal with love, anger, peace and forgiveness. For instance, Proverbs 17:9 says -"Disregarding another's faults preserve love." Read that, meditate on it, let it seep into your spirit, speak it over yourself and in little time, your mind will be renewed in this area. You will begin to notice you are less offended and less prone to malice because it is the offense that provokes the malice. There is power in God's word but we'll rather look for solutions outside because people are afraid of spiritual things or look down on spiritual matters. This is not saying self-help materials and mental health options don't work, they do but they are still founded on wisdom found in God's word.

On a practical note, you must be mindful of your own imperfections when relating with others. You keep malice because you are proud and ignorant of your own faults which others may be tolerating. So, who are you to hold theirs over them?

The good thing is you admit your problem and have a desire to change and be better. This is the starting point for change. Take your hearts desires to God in prayer and tell Him you are ready to be a more loving, patient and forgiving person. He will send His Holy Spirit into your heart to begin the work. Your part is to cooperate by doing whatever He tells you. E.g. He may prompt you to come out of your room in the morning and ask someone how their day went. Or to be more understanding of a person's point of view. Little things like that will become easier for you as you yield to Him. As you keep this up, you will become a big giant ball of love I promise you. It is real.

Sorry pls I don't understand. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing. I dint sign any form. I drafted a letter on Ms Word and sent it which the person uploaded. It was afterwards that I saw a consent form. I dint know there was a specific consent form to fill. Do I need to sign that form and send to him to redo the whole process? Thanks a lot.

Frankrobbn1:

HerMoney,

You don't need any other form. The signed consent form you sent to the person assisting you is only form that is required for this process.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by HerMoney: 12:49pm On Jun 08, 2018
Thanks a lot Frank. Waiting for the notes. I'll keep you posted ...
But pls one more question... I sent a signed consent letter to the person helping me apply. But afterwards, I saw a form online, is there a form one needs to fill for this process?
Thanks and God bless
Frankrobbn1:

HerMoney,

Applying for a study visa to Canada with a proposed program that is not related to your current employment or previous studies is usually difficult but not impossible because there are no traces of academic/career progression. To support your claims, go for a program you have relavant experience in.

Or Better still, table a rational letter of explanation detailing your reasons for a change in career path and how you intend to excel in your new academic pursuit, how it might be of paramount benefit to you and your home country.

Lastly, don't be in a haste to reapply if you haven't secured your gcms notes and address the concerns of the visa officer regarding your previous refused application.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by HerMoney: 5:31pm On Jun 07, 2018
Pls those who have applied for GCMS Notes, did you submit a typed ordinary consent letter or did you fill any form (IMM 5477 or something? Please anyone
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by HerMoney: 2:20pm On Jun 07, 2018
Thanks a million Frank. You are prolly right. I had read about their issues with career progression but didnt want to let fear of that stop me from going for what I have always wanted to do. Plus I took enough time to explain all that in my SOP. I did submit employment docs, Work ID and payslips from my employers. I have ordered the notes and waiting to see like you said. School resumes Sep 4. And I have heard it takes 30 days to get the notes. My main concern now is what would be the point of reapplying if I can't prove I am a bona fide student due to my academic history and intended course of study? I don't want to do anything legal so I really don't know how to tackle that in such a short space of time. What are your thoughts?
Frankrobbn1:

HerMoney,

Well, including a salary bank statement with your application adds more credibility, but I don't think you being unable to include one with your application was what lead to your visa refusal. An employment letter, introductory letter, 3-4 payslips and work ID can evidence your current employment situation.
Back to business, while looking closely from your profile, it happens that you have few/little experience in your intended program, which could further buttress your intent/purpose to be solely for studies to the visa officer and also considering that you're currently working in a legal position, which is not reasonable in control to your proposed course and having studied Law in your previous studies shows no logical progression between your current employment, previous studies and your intended program.

The short and long story is that, you quickly order for your GCMS Note's then we could know the factual reasons behind your refusal and then pick it up from there.

It shall end in praises next time!

Thank you Frankrobbn1.

Law graduate with 2nd Class Lower. Currently employed in a Legal position.
Applied for a Professional Communications PGC at Centennial College. Earlier applied for Masters at Ryerson but did not get admission.
I have brief experience in Communications from an internship so I'm changing career from Law to Media and Communications.
Was refused based on Travel History, Purpose of Visit, Personal Assets and Financial Status.
Submitted all necessary forms, Parents' Land docs and wrote an SOP explaining my academic and professional history and my interest and experience in communications. Did not submit my bank statement coz my salary is paid in cash. I feel like sometimes, they focus on what you don't have rather than what you do have.

Frankrobbn1:

HerMoney,

I want to believe you didn't undergo an upfront medicals. If you did, it's likely not a refusal. But if you didn't, I am afraid it's a refusal.

Kindly Order your GCMS notes using the below link:
https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do?lang=en

While waiting your GCMS notes, you can as well share your profile to the house.

It will end in praises next time.

I didn’t see this one. There will always be TRV refusals is a fact. Canada cannot be for everyone who applies. The correct prayer is that may God meet everyone at the point of their needs, those approved never to rest on their laurels, those refused the strength to carry on in discovering God’s plans for their lives. For some, not going to Canada is a good thing even though it may appear not to be so looking right now. Perhaps if God allowed you to go, you might miss out on His plans to stay home and build wealth and opportunity that may have byepast you had you gone to Canada. Perhaps by not letting you go is God’s way of helping you avoid meeting an untimely death in Canada. I have seen that happen before. Nothing bad in been religious, free and true expression of faith while putting in the requisite work in validating one’s faith, is a superb thing. Please people in this thing, always pray and work hard and put God first! He who doesn’t pray is foolish. Pray that God’s purpose and will be fulfilled in your endeavor. This is the only thing that makes sense!

You are on point Jnyuwa02. This has been my mindset from day 1. Even though we pursue our goals and dreams steadfastly, God's will is paramount in our lives.

Meanwhile, I submitted my study permit application today at Abuja VAC. After much running up and down to gather my docs. Whew!!
I was sent back twice for not filling my Form IMM 1294 correctly. Tips for Applicants: Input your name and place of birth details exactly as it is in your intl passport. No modifications. I read this on the website but forgot and added the state of my place of birth which isn't on my passport.
Also, when filling employment details, make sure you leave absolutely no gaps in dates of employment on the app form. They want to know everything you've been up to in the last 10 years. So, if you've been unemployed for any number of years, put it there. The dates on that section must tally back to back.
Also, make 4 copies of your intl passport data page and 2 photocopies of the bar-code page after IMM 1294 form validation. Photocopies not printouts.

Goodluck to everyone who has applied and is waiting.
As for me, after reading the threads here, I felt so discouraged because I could be disqualified on so many levels, but I have done my best by submitting an honest application and my trust and hope is in God, 110%. cool

HerMoney,

It's not a reasonable asset to include. However, I have come across applicants here adding proof of car ownership and got approved. You can as well do same, If you think it will a positive impact in your application. Overall, it's not a tangible asset to applicant, as cic regards investments, shares certificates, buildings, landed properties etc... to a car as personal assest.

Siblings are not strong ties. I guess that is why the new form IMM5707E introduced did away with them. Siblings by law are not considered one’s immediate family relatives. Wife and children are immediate relatives and usually what convinces the VO. Parents too too are considered immediate relatives and to an extent, especially if they have properties that you intend to inherit, would help you as ties. If you don’t have any of these, concentrate on showing any social or professional or economic ties that would bring you back to Nigeria. For example, professional ties would be your Work. Economic ties would be landed property or business interest. Social ties would be anything you are doing or been a very promising person and the evidence shows that you would come back to Nigeria and make a difference in the lives of others. Its often not so easy to pinpoint, so I advice you concentrate on your strengths and explain what you think can induce your return to Nigeria and pray the VOs buy it!!

Okay. Thanks a lot Jnyuwa02. I appreciate it.

I am a newbie but I have correct info about form 5707E. It is the correct form for Nigerian applicants. If you select Nigeria, on the drop down menu from the documents to submit link on one of those study permit pages on CIC website, it will bring out the applicable forms for Nigeria - 5707E is the one it brings out for Nigeria. I also confirmed this in an online chat with a VFS staff in Lagos. Chat was done on their website. The attending staff specifically mentioned 5707 as the correct family info form to fill so we are on track.

Cheers
