Education › Re: Lecturer Praises Graduate Who Hawks Cake (Photo) by herrdeustch: 8:42pm On Feb 26, 2017 |
It is unfortunate that Nigerian youths do not know how to pay attention. I read all the responses and it shows that only a few of them understand what the lecturer is saying. Note that the lecturer in his statement accepts that hawking cake is not necessarily the best outcome for the young man. Also notice that the lecturers source of happiness is not the fact that the young man is hawking, but that the young man has taken matters in his own hands and is starting small to progress his destiny without feeling any shame(dignity in labour). Many young people are too proud to start small and grow big-they are all waiting to hammer or looking for something classy(I have nothing against that). The truth is that a classroom education is a training that equips you to make the best out of every situation life throws at you because of the knowledge you have. Education should make you a successful cake seller and ultimately a renowned brand name if you use your head and are not afraid/ashamed to do what it takes. The responses here show that our youth have failed to remove the deception that they have a certificate and so are entitled to an automatic job-life doesnt always work that way! We must accept the concept of dignity in labour if we are to go far as a country. I noticed while I was abroad that even folks with Phds are cleaning toilets and doing all sorts of manual stuff and the respect is still there,no one will judge you as long as you are paying your bills! Finally did you notice what the lecturer did by placing the guys phone number? He is advertising the guy, adding value to the guy by showcasing his story! This could lead to open doors and big opportunities for the guy. No body wants to hire or do business with a lazy person. The young man aint lazy and is humble and God will reward him.The lecturer did a good job and we should acknowledge that! |

Allowing the law enforcement to catch up with dem..i guess they neva learn.. They should have never started in the first place. If you are smart enough to be a yahoo boy , my brother , then there is no success you cant achieve when you set your heart to it! I remember in 2010 when I was serving and went to visit my friend in Lagos. He was squatting in very poor conditions with one of his childhood friends. They were struggling but they were dilligent.Fast-forward to today, my friend is the co-founder of a startup in Nigeria that has received funding in the range of over USD2million and that is only one of his startups. So it beats me when Nigerian youth use their power of persuasion to dupe people instead of using it to solve problems that will make them rich legitimately. Why don't you use your skills to get a business plan, use your persuasive skills to build a team, use your persuasive skills to get funding, use your persuasive skills to employ people? This is the simple reason why Nigeria is not moving forward, because the people who God has given the intelligence to deliver this country are busy practicing it on illegalities, this is why nonsense politicians come and bamboozle us and go away scot-free.God have mercy! |

The limit of intimacy starts from the heart. You must never think intimate thoughts about this man or woman-they will come but remove them off your mind immediately as Job said in Job 31:1, and 1 Tim 5:2 will also guide you. Remember what Jesus said in Matt 5:28. The level of Physical Intimacy also depends on your strengths-holding hands may not mean any thing to some, hugging may not mean anything to some but whatever is your strength or weakness, always remember Mark 9:47, But certainly cuddling and kissing will lead to gratification of the flesh and passion (Konji)Song of Solomon 8:4 and is thus sinful and should be cut off. |

I want to corroborate everything Mosbiod has written-we started the 2016/2017 PTDF Overseas Scholarship race from Nairaland and to the glory of God today I am also a scholar.Applied four times, wrote exams three times and today my story is glory. So dont give up because there is nothing that God cannot do.Today I am studying overseas in a year when many Nigerians and even foreigners are not able to because of the exchange rate, oil prices or recession. I believe this is the highest exchange rate ever in the history of Nigeria. So God decided that we will experience our own in the most unlikely of times! Best of Luck! |

Agriculture › Re: Strawberry Farming Crippled In Jos by herrdeustch: 10:57am On Apr 20, 2016 |
Its actually quite a simple matter .The problem here is ignorance.I remember over 10 years ago my family made a trip to Jos and we lodged at the ECWA guest house there.Apart from the cold , the only other memorable thing was the fresh strawberry jam I had for breakfast(and fresh milk as well). So my submission to the farmers of strawberry in Plateau state is that they need to locally add value to their produce by: 1. Making strawberry jam (This will naturally be cheaper than the imported types and can definitely be made to a decent or even very high standard) 2.Developing a marketing strategy that will put that jam on every table in Nigeria. They can market through Konga, Jumia etc 3. If they are successful in convincing Nigerians to eat their bread with local strawberry jam, then that is just the beginning of greater things to come. A lot of stuff we consume in Nigeria like jam actually comes from communities abroad such as the ones we have in Plateau who have taken the bull by the horns and added value to their farming activities by creating consumer products, finding local and foreign markets and smiling to the bank all year round. It may not be very easy in the beginning, but victory is certain. Right now I have a jar of jam sitting in my fridge and I absolutely have nothing against having that fresh locally made in Jos strawberry jam taste again-I am a Jam buyer! Farmpride: A year ago a reporter traced a community where strawberry is grown in commercial quantity. Some readers were surprised to know that the fruit grows here in Nigeria,as was I. One year after, the reporter returned to the community to see what changes have occurred, what new technology has been brought into the farming of the crop; and whether the product’s marketing challenges have been solved. Apparently the strawberry farming, which until recently, is not a common practice here in Nigeria, is now the most important produce that shapes the economy of the people of Chaha, where almost every adult has a strawberry farm. Chaha seems to have huge potentials for strawberry, coffee and other fruit trees, as a visit to the community convinces one. With the cold weather that characterizes the highland of Plateau State, the ground favors the production of strawberry, which has now been domesticated in the village since 2001. The fruit has the potentials to breed new generations of millionaires in Chaha if access to market is broadened, because the farmers are between the ages of 20 to 35.
However finding buyers is an issue, most harvest about 600kg weekly, but end up selling 400kg because they have to give ‘Jara’(an extra on the quantity bought) to the women buying. “We don’t just know where else to sell this product ,but we are told that the demand is high in some places in Nigeria. Most of our farmers here have not traveled outside Plateau State,” a farmer noted. Sadly most of the big malls in the country are import the product, while these farmers don’t have where to sell theirs. Strawberry has enormous health benefits to humans. It has been used in a medicinal context to help people with digestive ailments, teeth whitening and skin irritations. Experts said strawberry provides good source of vitamins C and K as well as providing a good dose of fiber, folic acid, manganese and potassium, strawberries provide high amounts of vitamin C.

LOL.These are some of the equations that the West and Asia apply in practice and use them to dominate.I believe that one day Nigerians will start applying these theories to solving local problems and creating value and providing solutions which translate to money. I discovered that the average Nigerian Science student or graduate thinks that what they are learning in school is irrelevant; this is unfortunate because the same things we are learning are being used by Asian kids and scientists to create dozens of products, solutions, jobs and plenty of money. As you are well aware,Nigeria is a consumer nation and not a producer/exporter(except for a few things comparatively)This situation allows those that are diligent to mix those formulas and come up with something customized for the economy. Also note that there are a decent number of Nigerian scientists already putting all these formulas and knowledge to good use all around the world. So, let us arise and make use of the knowledge we have-it is sufficient to make a difference NotNairalandi: If what you know cannot change your life and the life of people around you...bro that knowledge is a total waste.

Bro dont be quick to judge. The farm was set up to meet a specific wartime target market (US military base) That war is over tay tay and the demand pattern as at then (after the war) would have changed. In retrospect I am begining to think that K Maroun must have had a direct supply contract from the US military which justified setting up the farm for that purpose. After the war and the troops returned to their countries, new markets and customers would have had to be sourced and dont forget that post world war 2 issues would have made it difficult to find viable clients Mekurexx: Once existed The real problem of this country is MAINTENANCE & SUSTAINABILITY. Hi , Lovely work and thank you for sharing such a great opportunity with us. I have a few questions: 1.Do you add the milk after the popcorn has finished popping or as the popcorn is popping 2.How can I add color to my popcorn and make it colorful and what type of color can I use. 3. how do I add sugar (or is it caramel they call it? I am not sure.) to the popcorn after popping. 4. Finally, is it possible to first pop the popcorn before adding the ingredients?Thank you tugrow: Method of preparation
Measure your 50 to 100 mm oil to your popping pot.
Add your full tablespoons butter to it
Add your 1½ cup of corn
Add your 2 tablespoons of sugar
Shake the pot to mix well
Place it in your popcorn machine stand
For after 2 min, it's begin to pop, den you add your flavours, (NOTE) flavor is liquid flavor not dry
Still allow it till its pop all, by den the popping sound Will be low till no sound.
Turn it to big bowl and add your milk, shake it well till the milk mix well with the popcorn
Your popcorn is ready
Turn it to your showcase
And it ready for sell |

Vanquay: So I decided to try a new look and got myself dreads Mohawk some couple of months ago. I have since gotten rid of it but I remembered the three times I went to church, I got looks that could have made you think I was the Devil's Grandson. Why are Christians against dreads? Like it's right there in the Bible Samson had dreads. Sometimes I feel it's colonial mentality worrying all this African churches. Is it because you can't have a white mans straight hair, you decide to cut yours?
It honestly baffles me when certain haircuts are judged as Devilish. Afterall doing things to please the society is a sin itself. So Nairalanders what do you think? Should Christians have only certain haircuts despite the Bible making no reference to it?
P.S: I changed it because I Run Track and play soccer, not the most comfortable of haircuts on a windy training session.
Lalasticlala cum with me make we go Barb Skin 1. There are haircuts that are popular with occult groups and symbology - They are not sinful but are harmful as they attract negative implications 2. There are hairstyles that are shouty and may not go down well with your society - they are out of place in your society 3.There are hairstyles that you wear to to give you a sense of pride, boost your ego, oppress,etc- they are not a sin, but they lead you into teh sinful deception of pride of life, lusts of flesh and eyes, idolatry etc. 4.Your hairstyle might negatively influence someone- Doing so is a sin So, no hairstyle in itself is a sin or sinful, but application of the hairstyle and the reason for wearing it could be sinful . |
