Agriculture › Re: Fulani Hunters Having Fun In My Farm In 2015 - Aroms Aigbehi Shares Photos by herrdeustch: 11:13pm On Jan 27, 2018 |
It is very clear from these photos that these men are not of Fulani extraction. Those who have lived in the North and the Northerners can attest to this. It is most likely that they are 1.Hausa or 2.Hausa-Fulani which is 1.different from Fulani and 2.distinct from Fulani herdsmen. Therefore, this photo lends no credibility to the attribution of peacefulness both the OP and the original owner of this article are trying to confer on the actual purebred Fulani. Disclaimer- In general, even purebred Fulani can be exceptionally nice and friendly with only one caveat;Fulani do not forgive and believe in vendetta especially when it involves their lives and cattle. The most easy contemporary examples to prove this are 1. Gov El-Rufai who said that no matter what, anyone who wrongs a Fulani will be repaid. 2. GMB, who said that he will favourably consider those who voted for him. Nigerians are unfortunately in the habit of posting, spreading and believing 1. incomplete and 2.unsubstantiated information. Also, it is worthy to note that in the original FB post from which this thread is based, it was clear that the Hausa element was the dominant group identified and not Fulani which is contradictory to the title of this thread. How sad that this type of misrepresentation is prevalent in the media. As a side note, to understand fully what is happening with the contemporary Fulani issues, it is pertinent to study the history of African colonialism(especially West Africa) and one quickly begins to understand some of the dynamics of this centuries old affair.Happy studying!!! Adieza: These men are Hausa and Fulani men who are hunters (not the herdsmen). The are all northerners. They are at my farm having fun. Every few months they will come in group of at least 20 of them with dogs and hunting gears to hunt and use my farm as base. It was really fun. They don't come anymore because the guys Lai Mohammed calls the foreigners have driven them away as well. Those so called foreigners have AK47.
This was before Buhari came. There was no big agenda then. These men are the good guys. Some people think southerners hate northerners. But as you can see, there are lots of northerners in my farm. These are the peace loving types. Not killing herdsmen. Trouble starts when someone is trying to kill the other. Without a dogmatic and myopic leaders Nigerians can really live together.

Family › Re: Mother In Law Wants My 2.5 Year Old To Sleepover by herrdeustch: 12:34am On Oct 28, 2017 |
It is very important to follow your natural instincts. I perceive that something in you is not comfortable with this sleep-over happening. Follow your instincts and find a wise and diplomatic way to decline this sleep-over. You also need to evaluate what your inner-voice is telling you-is it speaking to you out of fear from what you have heard of other's experiences? or is it out of your own negative experiences? If you confirm that it is your instincts that are speaking as opposed to your fears, then by all means, don't let your daughter go for the sleep-over. However, make sure that both the grandparent and the grandchild have a healthy relationship as usual. Mudley313: Abeg, I need some advice concerning this matter
Me and my wife just quarreled because her mother asked for our only daughter who is two and half to sleep at her place and I said NO because I was not too comfortable with the idea. My wife is an only daughter and the mother is single with no husband or boyfriend. We give her all the time she wants alone with our child but she just seems obsessed with having her alone for a sleepover and my body no catch dat one. Her reason is she wants to bond more and she was very close with her own garandma blah, blah, blah. But this woman has been very manipulative in me and her daughters relationship in the past because they're abnormally close. Although she has pipped down a bit, I just don't want to create an opening for her to start that with my own daughter cos why would she insist for an all-night? what is wrong with spending time during the day time? what's so special about night time? Is it just to be able to have total control?
Anyway, I go appreciate una feedback and advice well well if anyone here have experienced such before and I don't want to come out looking like I'm overreacting
P.S. By the way, my wife na oyinbo, so I just wanna gather a proper naija perspective on the matter. Thank you in advance! |

Op, what you did was fine. However, it will become bad if you dont go back to your dad and let him know that you are a man of your own now and that you are sorry for ending the call and blocking him. Also you need to establish to him that you are no longer spiritually accountable to him- he can ask after your spiritual wellbeing, but not control you;this is manipulation and is equivalent to witchcraft. I totally understand how you feel trust me. |

A girl who wants you always walks the talk-she takes practical steps for your progress, encouraging you, playing to your strenghts, covering areas of weakness and ensuring that you are on an a steady curve of progress hence she spends her time and resources for you.She sees you as a project. A girl who only wants marriage is not process oriented. she is only interested in the state of your current status- she doesnt see you as a project, but your wedding as a project and all the things you guys will do as a couple as the project. |

My advice to you is not to spend the money or invest it yet. Rather invest in yourself. I strongly suggest that you learn some form of programming, seek international scholarships and internships. I strongly advise you to learn programming and a foreign language on your own. Give yourself a year to become a master. While you are learning, make sure you join a company in your field of study whether they pay your salary or not is immaterial-you are there to learn. Learn aggressively, learn everything dont remain anything, leave no stone unturned. As per your living expenses and daily expenditure, I believe you can manage since you have been able to do so during your service year. People may discourage you saying you are a fool for not starting a business immediately, but when they see the blessing, they will rejoice with you. Good luck and may God bless your hustle. |

dammyjo112: Hello NLanders, I am 20 years of age and intend going back to school to study computer science. I am interested in studying outside the country, since the CS courses here look crappy (I know this because i have helped some students with their school projects/assignment).
I have been able to save 2.5M in the past 9 months (Made from blogging). I make on average 200k per month. I don't have any properties (Land or House) in Nigeria. I have taken 4 gap years (Which might be an issue with my visa interviewer).
Considering all this limitation, Which (good) foreign country can i study in ? (I know germany no longer have free tuition, and other ones have crazy visa bond). I strongly recommend Germany for you. However I advise you to apply for a scholarship in the USA. Heck you can even apply to google for some form of sponsorship or course. You have already demonstrated leadership, enterpreneurship, and initiative by generating and saving up to 2.5 million from a blog-this is reason enough for interested sponsors to award you a scholarship as this is exactly the type of merit they want to see. As for the four gap years, have no fear as I assume that was the development period for your blog. Goodluck |

So I wrote this story in 2012. I was inspired after a visit to computer village and the global events at the time to write a short story. Afam is a fictional character for a real guy who wanted to sell me anything at all by all means at the computer village. After this meeting, my imagination started playing around with ideas, so I created a fictional life for Afam. These are the first three chapters in the first book(titled Code) of the trilogy(Codes of Afam). Enjoy.... |

Tobiloba21: Can a 2.40 second class lower graduate go for masters direct? Hi OP. You can do a masters degree with that 2:2, but it means you have to put in more effort into researching and applying schools that will accept you. Usually, if you don't have high grades, then you must leverage on extra certifications, training, achievements, work experience, volunteer experiences etc to convince the admissions committee to admit you-these extra qualities must be well documented and part of your application. Good luck! |
Family › Re: Nairalanders Help! My Dad Talks Too Much. by herrdeustch: 12:07am On Jun 11, 2017 |
Just ask him to meditate on this verse Psalm 141:3 'Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.' He will find the inner Spiritual strength required to keep a very disciplined tongue. Usually, talkativeness is a sign of spiritual slackness. When one is spiritually alert, words spoken are very few and high quality. DY20: Hi Nairalanders!
"My dad talks too much" and by saying too much I did not mean he's crazy or something, I mean he talks sensible thing for an absurd long period of time.
Let me use 5 out of million of scenario to define my case.
1. Anytime the family is complete inside the house, and everyone is quiet; busy with something, I browsing on my phone, my little brother playing video game, my sister using beads, mum watching TV and my dad? Talking. When it is very obvious that no one cares to listen, he continue talking.
2. If any of my friends came to visit me, they will become my dad's guest. From the very first moment they say "Good morning" to him, he started talking, asking them questions, essp about their work, school, and talking about his own life too. Like what is happening now, I can see awkward smile on their face as they listen but just don't want to walk away leaving him embarrassed.
3. One day, I was chatting with girlfriend till late in the night, he woke up and say a light in the male children's room, he came in and started accusing me of internet fraud. We talked and talked till we settle it at dawn. From 2 to 4.30. In the morning, my dad started the topic with my mum again.
4. He talks every seconds when he is in the house or when anyone is with him.
5. He make anyone he saw with me (or any of my siblings) to introduce themselves. Indoor or outdoor.
I don't usually talk about my family affair with people but nobody knows me here or my dad.
I just want to know how to handle situation like this because I've started thinking of leaving the house. Maybe I'll learn to accept him when I don't see him everyday.
See? He is starting already... continues to talk when I'm not even looking at him. |

Christianity Etc › Re: My Pastor Ordered Me Out Of The Church During Sunday Service by herrdeustch: 1:34am On May 29, 2017 |
edidiongmichael: What Happened To Me On Sunday Service In Church
What's your candid view on this?
Recently I joined a church, I know how to play piano but not really well. The church has a standard pianist that plays literally on every church's event. When they discovered I knew how to play, they gave me the opportunity to be playing at least 2 times a month. Honestly, I didn't see myself as a church worker because I've never been to their meeting before. I only play when they tell me to otherwise I stay at the congregation. Last Sunday, I wore a shirt with a suit trouser and a sandals to church, then I wasn't expected to tuck in my shirt with a sandals. When I got to church, the pastor ordered me out of the church to tuck in before coming inside and instructed the ushers to not let me in until I tucked in my shirt. The church was still on and I got so ashamed and embarrassed. Everybody's eyes were on me during that time.
As confused as I was, I angrily left the church that moment to another nearby church.
Then I started thinking, Do we really have to tuck in our shirts to show how holy we are in church? What do you think had prompted the pastor to order me out? Do Christians have a dressing code? Will I be judged on the final day for letting loose my shirt to church? What's your view on this? My brother , there are a few things to note. 1. Have you become a member of this Church? Can you say that you are a member of this Church? From what you have posted you do not see yourself as a member, therefore you are free to agree or disagree with anything the Church asks you to do.As a consequence of this fact, there was nothing wrong in you leaving the church for another one except for the question of whether God led you to this place . Did God drop a message whether in your heart or through some other means to worship in this place? If HE did, then humble yourself and participate fully ,sacrificing and obeying and you will see the reward. 2. Do you want to play the keyboard/piano to volunteer/just help the church or out of pity or so you see it as a serious service to God? if you see it as a help, then be ready to help the church on her own terms . If you see it as a serious service to God, then be ready to obey the pastor. 3. In my own little experience with churches and pastors, I have discovered that alot of them have weaknesses when dealing with people as is the case from your narrative. This does not mean that they do not carry God's anointing. So, rather than be disobedient to them , bearing grudges or speaking ill of them, find your squareroot to a church where you can love the pastor and the congregation and be happy thereby not sinning against God.Do not forget that pastors can disappoint you so just find one you love and overlook their weaknesses- you can choose to forgive and love this one. 4. Remember also, that as an adult, you have freedom, you also have a right to be treated fairly. If you dont like a church, depart. If a church you attend is consistently nasty and insensitive, run! It is a sign that the Holy Spirit is not fully in control, remember the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness & Self Control. discipline, holiness and morality are also characteristic. So if you find yourself in any Christian body without these manifestations, my brother, start running! 5. I realized that the church especially the pastor , already adopted you unofficially as their member and a minister(all choristers and instrumentalists are!) and so they expect a very very high standard and discipline from you which includes dressing to their expectation-unfortunately, you are the one who isn't aware of this development. Therefore I advise you to decide whether you want to commit to being a minister or just a casual attendee. If you decide to be a casual attendee, then you need to make them understand that. no hard feelings bro, forgive the pastor and move on-it was a classic case of misunderstanding between two parties. 6.I have discovered that in Nigeria, just because someone is a Man of God, they abuse it by being nasty to people. In Nigeria, those above are always very nasty and rude to those below and unfortunately we have accepted it as a normal thing. This is the reason why human rights abuses are sustained in Nigeria and why leaders always take advantage of the underlings. I wish especially that there will be a show of exemplary love by Christian leaders- strangely they seem to be showing this love preferentially to the rich, influential and in some extreme cases members of the opposite gender. We need a culture of true love and respect. |

Yteflon: I have an idea of a viable online web platform business and i currently work for an online magazine website . i have a good relationship with my boss who is the owner of the company. I am skeptical of what will happen if i inform him of my idea. I don't know if it will still be my idea or the company's. I am a final year student so i don't have the money but i have the skills to start up. Should i wait till i have the money or look for other ways to raise money instead of giving my idea out. Abi. what relationship will exist between me and my boss if i tell him my idea? Is it partnership or employer/employee? Please people with experience should enlighten me In all honesty, I advise you to keep developing your idea in secret while learning from the business except if you are 100% sure that historically your boss/organisation have actually implemented ideas they have received from staff. Sharing your ideas in the workplace can be a very dangerous affair indeed. After learning fully about how to run your own business, pull out and implement all ideas. |
