FamilyRe: What Is It Like To Have A Brother? by Hesperus(m): 2:38am On Dec 08, 2009
LOL @ Adrenaline!

I dont beat up my bro o! C'mon, he's still older, no matter what. It used to get physical when we were kids, but now, men are wiser now. Just the odd argument now and again, that's all. Plus, my sisters are always there to intervene so it never gets outta hand.
FamilyRe: What Is It Like To Have A Brother? by Hesperus(m): 1:38am On Dec 08, 2009
Ok, brother to brother. For me, it's been good 'cos my bro is only a year older than me (18 months actually) so we have always done stuff together. From gaming when we were younger, to throwing correct parties during our Uni days. Even now, it's still the same.

On the downside, we de fight no be small! You know boys, we everly like to show ourselves. All in all, I can't imagine if I didnt have a bro, my life woulda been boring! No offence to those who haven't got any.

MRbrownJAY:
@poster
someone once told me that some people refuse to touch anything coming from your left hand because its supposedly the hand with which you wipe your ass and therefore not very clean.
but dont take my words for it.
OK, now this is just so wrong! Most left-handed people wipe their asses with their right hands, same way right-handed people do the opposite!

RomanceRe: Love Thoughts by Hesperus(m): 2:01am On Nov 23, 2009
Its so hard when you're not here, my love. Its late, and I lie in bed, thinking about you. I wish you were here beside me, so I can hold you and whisper sweet nothings in your ear. It's so hard being away from you. Over a year now and I still recall the last time we were together. I spend every minute of the day thinking about you, and how it would be so much easier if I had you with me. But that is what keeps me going, knowing that you are there, wanting and waiting for me.

You know what, darling? Nothing's gonna change my love for you, ever. I love you, that's one thing you can count on. No matter where we are, or what happens, I always will.
CareerRe: Pls I'm Confused I Need Advise On My Career by Hesperus(m): 5:36pm On Nov 22, 2009
Well, being an Elect/Elect engineer myself, I'd advise you to cross over if you can. It gives you a wide background, and you can specialise in different areas afterwards, Telecoms, DSP, RF engineering, the list goes on.

However, you stated that your physics isnt so good. You will need to brush up on that, especially since EE Engineering is mostly physics-based. Bear in mind though, that whichever course you eventually settle for, getting a good grade and knowing your onions is most important. It's a very competitive world out there.

Seriously? Hmm, Bakare is looking for trouble o, lol!

I quite agree with 7 & 8 tho. Religion, esp Christianity has been turned to get-rich-quick money-making schemes.
RomanceRe: Can Long Distance Relationships Really Work Out? by Hesperus(m): 12:59am On Nov 19, 2009
@ poster, I have been in one now for a little over a year. I must confess, it is not easy at all! When we first started, we had this illusion that we would be able to cope but it gets harder by the day. Sometimes, we fall out for the slightest reason and I've come to realise it is probably a way of easing our frustration.

We are into each other a lot so I dont see it ending soon. I was supposed to be in Naija this Christmas but not anymore as I have pressing stuff to do here, so she might be coming over.

Long distance relationships DO work, as long as both parties involved are willing. My 2 cents.
Car TalkRe: Information On Volkswagen Bora by Hesperus(m): 12:26am On Nov 19, 2009
I dont have one, but my brother uses a Bora 2.0. Truth be told, the acceleration is good, and its solidly built. Same goes for the newer golf models.

On the down side, fuel efficiency isn't wonderful so be ready to part with extra quid for petrol. Also, the keys are electronic so things like key cutting and electrical faults have to be done by VolksWagen themselves.
A society that does not provide repercussions and commendations for actions taken while alive is doomed to implode as we can see in Nigeria. Someone actually stole youir resources and messed up up an entire country and people whio are supposed to be enlightened are here defending them? Whats wrong with you all? Whats our health system like? Education? The officers killed in the Hercules aircraft crash and their families living without appropriate compensation? What system do we have for righting wrongs? Where is Dele Giwa? Do we know what happened to his children? Who took care of them? You come here and wax spiritual about life and death happening to us all! Hypocrisy!!!!!

There seems to a latent waiting or holding position to justify selfish decadent actions of an equally decadent elite or ruling and thieving class just because you or someone you know may get there soon and you dont want to spoil or jeopardise your chances! Juxtapose nigeria's resources and our potentials and look at what or where we are right now. We should look for an evil forest and throw their rotten corpses there! Can anyone remember on the day the bastard was handing over or "stepping aside", what Marymam was saying on air not knowing that the mike was picking her voice? No!!! Of course not! Selective Memory!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALLhuhhuh Nonsense
@Kukura, please can you tell? I honestly dont know, I was too young to grasp anything then! Thanks.
RomanceRe: Her Past Is Too Much For Me by Hesperus(m): 8:48pm On Nov 16, 2009
IMO, there is no point being stuck in a relationship you're not sure of. The mere fact that he's even here asking for advice tells enough.

I wont even date a girl I sleep with on the first day, talk more of consider marriage. Even if she has truly changed, that was a big error on her part. She should learn from this when she meets the next guy.

But this poster sef, na wa for you o! You've shagged the essence out of the girl's kitten, now you're asking for advice on how to split! LMFAO!
BusinessRe: UPS Courier: My Frustrating Disappointment by Hesperus(m): 4:24pm On Nov 05, 2009
Ah, Naija sha! So even courier companies have now been infiltrated. I feel for the poster, all your documents and to make matters worse, your passport inclusive.

As for me, I use DHL as much as possible. I just have this feeling that they are trustworthy, no particular reason. I still used them about a week ago to send off my passport and they delivered promptly, tho that was within the UK sha.

I think I have used UPS once in Naija, the package eventually arrived here after a few days delay.

TravelRe: UK Student Visa Delay Need Your urgent Advice by Hesperus(m): 3:28pm On Nov 05, 2009
@ Annekix, I quite agree with Justwise. Just stay in Naija and rock Xmas there cos the truth is, Xmas is the driest period of the year here. People will be leaving to go to naija when you will coming here.

That aside, its best to come in late january to avoid any immigration problems. If you arrive with a student visa starting in october, they will know you have missed school. If you now produce a letter to start school in january, that may even raise further questions.

Plus, air fares are less in late January compared to now. All in all, the pros of chillin till Jan far outweigh the cons.

So what's your next course of action?

PoliticsRe: Race And Intelligence by Hesperus(m): 4:55pm On Oct 30, 2009
I also saw this documentary. I think there is absolutely no correlation between race and intelligence.

What exactly is intelligence? As someone pointed out earlier, The criteria used to define this was purely that of the western world i.e academics. The truth of the matter is that it should be measured relative to one's surroundings. There are numerous cases of children brought out of Africa who have excelled abroad, even better than those who grew up there. Can the same be said of a white person? How many white people can survive the deserts and rainforests we have here?

Abeg, make dem go siddon jo! This is nothing but racial profiling to me.

TravelRe: UK Student Visa Delay Need Your urgent Advice by Hesperus(m): 11:19pm On Oct 26, 2009
I think emailing the BHC baout a change of course is a total bad idea! I quite agree with Easy, it makes you look desperate.

I know in naija, we skip classes and still pass. Even here, it is done. But I'm talking about coursework and assignments that have been submitted already. As it is now, you have missed 5 weeks (including this week) out of 11. Guy, no be yam o!

Public Health to Biz Management? What a switch! Which year did you finish from Unilag?
TravelRe: UK Student Visa Delay Need Your urgent Advice by Hesperus(m): 7:56pm On Oct 25, 2009
To be honest, I think choosing another course or starting in Jan/Feb is your best option for now. Thing is, as of now, you have already missed 4 weeks of study. 4 weeks out of 11 weeks of first semester. I am assuming you are coming for a masters degree, and that is alot of time lost. Some assignments and coursework would have already been handed in. How do you recover that?

But, still, keep hope alive. As long as you fulfilled all requirements, you will get the visa.
