Stefanou Pontesilli, the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria says no fewer than 1500 Nigerians are serving jail terms for various offences in Italy. Pontesilli who made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Abuja said the number was huge.

“In Italy we have about 1500 Nigerians in jail for various offences. It is a big number. We sometimes send them back to Nigeria once they finished their terms because they have not behaved well” he said.

He however denied reports that Italy sometimes send Nigerian migrants from Italy to Libya. “Never, we never sent anyone not even one single person to Libya. Some Nigerians are stuck in Libya because they were never able to cross over to Italy, but all those who went to Italy no one, not even one was ever sent back. All Nigerians who have reached Italy and are behaving well have no problem. Not one of them not even one has heard of being sent back to Libya, ” he said.

According to him, thousands of Nigerians unable to cross from Libya to Italy have been stuck in Libya. “Thank God the government is doing a lot to repatriate them through chattered flights. Thanks for the help from the European Union and the International Organisation for Migrations that are slowly repatriating them back to Nigeria,” he said.
The envoy said that the relationship between Italy and Nigeria remained stronger. “That is why Italy has been doing so much on the migration by saving tens and thousands of the Nigerians’ lives when crossing the Mediterranean. Authority has been doing so much by taking them to Italy, feeding them, getting them jobs, giving them house and trying to give them a new life”
Pontesilli said.

Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven on Friday recalled how she and her team rescued three children four years ago.

The kids, Grace, Victoria and William, all siblings, were accused of witchcraft by their family; tortured and abused.

"4 years ago today I was 7 months pregnant and on a rescue mission with David Emmanuel Umem ( picture nr. 3 )
David and I were told that 3 children had been tortured and abused and David was so determined to find the children and bring them to safety. The children were siblings, two girls and their younger brother.

I never forget that day. It was so hot and I was so heavy, but being pregnant was not an issue. I knew that David would protect me and our main focus was to save the lives of those children before it was to late.

Luckily it was never to late. 4 years ago today David saved the lives of Grace, Victoria and William.

It’s been an amazing journey to witness the incredible transformation of all three of them. I remember how scared William and Victoria were when we found them. Grace, their senior sister was more calm. I think she already knew at that time they were safe, free from torture and abuse.

Today Victoria is the strongest little girl you will ever meet. She loves to hang around the boys and she loves to jump into any fight with the boys. At one time she had managed to create her own little group of boys where she was the leader . I’m telling you, she is so intelligent and not afraid of anything. Always top of her class

Grace has stayed calm and always being so peaceful. She is very protective of Victoria and William. She is always very happy and smiling. But never be fooled of her being so calm. She is a very strong girl with a strong will and also top of her class

William was very hard to control when he was rescued. He had suffered a lot. But with our love, care and guidance he quickly became calm. Today he is the most calm of all our children. You will never find him in trouble. Always so kind and sweet. William has also been very sick due to his past and the suffering he passed through. It’s taken us many years to find out what caused his sickness.

But we now know his diagnose and day by day he is getting stronger

This is what makes our work so beautiful. We save lives
Thank you David for giving me the opportunity to come a long on this meaningful journey."

A video recently went viral showing two girls in school uniform fighting during which one lost consciousness. It was later widely rumored online that the student died. But South African authorities have refuted this.

According to online reports, the fight took place in Khandlela High School in Esikhawini near Richards Bay, South Africa.

In the video, one of the students pushed the other to the ground then stomped on her chest multiple times, she also slapped her across the face, causing her face to hit the ground. Classmates quickly rushed the girl and pushed her away from the other student on the ground even as she struggled and tried to gain access to keep hitting the girl.

Students soon went to help the girl on the floor and noticed she was immobile. They shook her body and lifted her head but she was out cold.

Immediately, news spread on social media that the girl died as a result of the attack. But a spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has said the girl fainted and is recovering at home.

"This is not true. We can confirm that the girl fainted, and is recovering at home," said Kwazi Mthethwa, a spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education.

While condemning the incident, Mthethwa said the department is looking to work with the provincial social development department which they hope to provide therapy to pupils involved in such incidents.

Sandhir Sewmungal, bullying survivor and author, said while therapy was needed, further action needed to be taken at schools where such incidents occurred.

"It is important for children to be educated on the consequences of bullying so that bullies must know that what they do is unacceptable and is not right to hurt others.

And victims must know that they are not alone and that help is available if they are being bullied. I encourage victims to speak up and get help before the situation gets out of hand," he said.

The brother of a worker at Winners Chapel owner by Bishop Oyedepo, has been revived, more that 24 hours after his death.

While recounting how it happened, the sister said: “I have come to return all the glory to God for His faithfulness and validating his mandate upon this commission.

I am a Cell minister, my Younger Brother in University of Calabar called to inform that our Younger Brother schooling in Auchi Polytechnic was confirmed dead on the 13th of May 2018 and his body deposited in the mortuary. Being worried and dismayed I contacted my Home cell provider, who shouted “He can’t be dead and I responded Amen.

He gathered his household to join us and we began to pray fervently on KINGDOM ADVANCEMENT for about 2 hours that night. And there after we joined Canaanland via DOMI radio for the Covenant hour of prayer. The next day my brother travelled to Auchi, on arrival late in the night he went straight to the mortuary and saw his Younger brother’s lifeless body.

The mortuary attendant consoling Him reminding him that he came too late because he was injected for embalmment over 24hours ago. He then whispered to the ear of the lifeless body ” Jesus is here, arise!”.

Nothing happened, he whispered again and said, “IN THE NAME OF THE GOD OF BISHOP DAVID OYEDEPO, WAKE UP! And in the next second, the dead brother sneezed out a thick blood and got up to the amazement of the mortuary attendant. About 68 SOULS gave their lives to Christ instantly. To God be the Glory.”

An entire village was destroyed and burnt down as two communities, Mbamar and Ugambe, in Konshisha LGA of Benue State, fight over a piece of land.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, who confirmed the incident said over 100 thatched houses were set ablaze last week during the clashes between Ugambe and Mbamar villages.

He added that nineteen people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Bem Jabez, who is from one of the villages took to Facebook to lament over the incident;
"My people have gone mad.

Mbamar Vs Ugambe, in Konshisha, men from same council ward, fighting this dirty over a very little piece of land.

These same fools can't go to the bush to fight fulani o.

My village was burnt down few days ago in these fight.

What manner of brothers i have, I'm proud to have come from Konshisha but I'm no longer proud of my immediate community."
