Politics / Again, Zulum Provides Free Christmas Transportation To South For The Fourth Tim by hgnbello(m): 5:23pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
Again, Zulum Provides Free Christmas Transportation to South For the fourth time since 2020, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State Government, on Thursday, approved free transportation for 630 families who intend to travel to their various states for the Christmas celebration as a way of cushioning the effect of the current hardship faced by citizens as a result of the subsidy removal. The move was to support the less privileged who could not have afforded fares and foster peaceful coexistence among non-indigene groups. Mr Emmanuel Egwudike, the Coordinator of Ohanaeze All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Group, at the flag off said the Governor also provided money to widows for Christmas celebration. He commended the Governor for providing free transport for the less privileged, who wouldn’t have travelled without the support. He noted that it was not the first time that Governor Zulum had been magnanimous as he regularly supported non-indigenes and gave palliatives to widows to celebrate Christmas and New Year. “He has been doing this since 2020. Every Christmas, he makes sure that every non-indigene, especially the most vulnerable, can travel. Due to hardship and economic situations, as well as subsidy removal and an increase in transportation, a lot of families wouldn’t be able to get themselves to celebrate Christmas in their state without this gesture from Zulum’s administration. “You can see the number of people that are here at the park and the joy in the faces of the people, which is the mood of happiness. “From the record we have, over 630 families will be going to their various homes to celebrate this Christmas and this is something that is quite appreciated by all non-indigenes in the State,” he said. He, therefore, urged other governors to emulate Zulum to further boost the unity in their respective states. “This is what is expected from every governor because, when we talk about unity, it is beyond lip service. This is an avenue to cement the purpose of the people and this will strengthen the unity in the State,” he said. President of the Tiv Community in the State, Mr Abraham Kaanti, said the Governor had exhibited his love for the downtrodden and the less privileged by this gesture. He added that the Governor’s gesture came when many had lost hope of travelling home for the festivities. Also speaking for the Yoruba Constituency in the State, who are among the beneficiaries, Chief Saka Ganiyu Abiodun expressed gratitude to Zulum for the gesture, saying that the Governor is known for his attitude of not wanting to see people suffer. He said the selection of the beneficiaries was done on the vulnerability of each of them, especially those who wished to go home but could not afford the cost of taking themselves home. In a similar vein, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Borno State, Pharm Napoleon Egbonu, who said he was sent by the Igbo Community to supervise what is happening and appreciates the Governor, said the gesture is directly touching the downtrodden. “It is a tro and fro programme. It has been going on for the past five years and the people are really happy with the Governor,” Egbonu said. For the leader of the Eggon Community in Borno and a native of Nasarawa State, who said he has lived in the state for over 40 years, working for the Nigeria Railway Corporation, the Governor’s gesture is timely considering the economic hardship bedevilling the people presently. https://www.facebook.com/100044421884471/posts/pfbid036ij75B8sfwjtbTX3Lx3LP88JL1ca27vaybmdv5N3CiJkg8WMcULzfAZNvFBZUPSsl/?app=fbl

Islam for Muslims / The Right Of One Muslim Over Another by hgnbello(m): 1:57pm On Apr 24, 2023 |
Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim Dear brothers and sisters in Islam, Today, I would like to speak to you about a very important topic in Islam: the right of one Muslim over another. As we know, Islam is a religion that emphasizes brotherhood, love, and compassion. Therefore, it is essential for us as Muslims to understand and practice the rights that we have over one another. In the Quran, Allah (SWT) says: "The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy." (49:10). This verse clearly shows us that all believers are brothers and sisters in Islam, and as such, we have certain rights over one another. One of the most important rights that we have over each other is to treat each other with kindness and respect. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He should neither wrong him nor hand him over to his wrongdoer. Whoever fulfills the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs." (Sahih Bukhari 2442). Therefore, it is important for us to understand that we are all equal in the eyes of Allah (SWT), and we should not discriminate against anyone based on their race, nationality, or social status. The only thing that distinguishes us from one another is our level of piety and devotion to Allah (SWT). Furthermore, we have the right to advise and correct one another in a gentle and respectful manner. Allah (SWT) says: "The believers, men and women, are helpers of one another; they enjoin good and forbid evil..." (9:71). This means that we should not hesitate to advise our fellow Muslims when we see them doing something wrong or harmful to themselves or others. At the same time, we should also be willing to accept advice and correction from others. We should not be too proud or arrogant to admit our mistakes and seek guidance from those who are more knowledgeable and experienced than us. In conclusion, the right of one Muslim over another is a fundamental aspect of Islam. As Muslims, we should strive to treat each other with kindness, respect, and compassion, and we should always be willing to help and support one another. By doing so, we can build strong and cohesive communities that are based on the principles of brotherhood and unity, and we can earn the pleasure of Allah (SWT) in this life and in the hereafter. Islam for Muslims / Practical Steps To Be A Good Muslim Even After Ramadan by hgnbello(m): 10:36am On Apr 22, 2023 |
Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim, All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and may His peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions, and all those who follow his guidance until the Day of Judgment. Dear brothers and sisters in Islam, as we bid farewell to the blessed month of Ramadan, we should not forget that the purpose of fasting and engaging in other acts of worship during this month is to increase our piety, strengthen our faith, and develop a closer relationship with Allah. We should strive to maintain the same level of devotion and spirituality even after Ramadan has ended. In today's sermon, I would like to remind us of some practical steps we can take to be good Muslims even after Ramadan. Firstly, we should continue to perform our daily prayers on time, as this is the foundation of our faith. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The prayer is the pillar of the religion, and whoever leaves it, he has destroyed his religion" (Sunan Ibn Majah). Let us not allow the busyness of life to distract us from fulfilling this important obligation. Secondly, we should strive to read the Quran regularly and reflect upon its meanings. The Quran is a source of guidance and light, and it is through its teachings that we can understand how to live our lives in accordance with Allah's will. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The best of you is he who learns the Quran and teaches it" (Sahih al-Bukhari). Let us make a habit of reading the Quran daily, even if it's just a few verses. Thirdly, we should continue to give charity to those in need. The act of giving helps us to develop a sense of empathy and compassion for others, and it also purifies our wealth. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Charity does not decrease wealth" (Sahih Muslim). Let us look for opportunities to give, whether it's to a local charity or to someone in need. Fourthly, we should strive to maintain good character and manners. Our behavior towards others should be guided by the principles of honesty, kindness, and respect. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The best among you are those who have the best manners and character" (Sunan al-Tirmidhi). Let us be mindful of our words and actions, and strive to be a positive influence on those around us. Finally, we should seek knowledge and continue to learn about our faith. The more we know about Islam, the better we can understand and implement its teachings in our lives. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim" (Sunan Ibn Majah). Let us make an effort to attend Islamic lectures, read books about Islam, and ask questions to deepen our understanding of our religion. In conclusion, dear brothers and sisters, let us not let the end of Ramadan be the end of our devotion and spirituality. Rather, let us strive to maintain the same level of faith and commitment throughout the year, by performing our prayers, reading the Quran, giving charity, maintaining good character, and seeking knowledge. May Allah guide us all and bless us with success in this life and the hereafter. Allahuma Ameen. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02TXFbcPdcGzday74f6EuDynaCem9PHY8jXYkcJ9deWKeL47UbRQWDf7hSKLkHehwjl&id=100081762998776&mibextid=Nif5oz 17 Likes 5 Shares |
Islam for Muslims / Etiquette Of Eid by hgnbello(m): 8:08am On Apr 21, 2023 |
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim, Assalamu Alaikum All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon His Prophet, his family, companions and those who follow his path until the Day of Judgment. Eid Al-Fitr is a joyous occasion for Muslims all over the world, as it marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It is a day of celebration, and a time for family and friends to come together and share in the happiness and blessings of this special day. But, as with all celebrations, there are certain etiquettes that we as Muslims must adhere to. These etiquettes are not only important for our personal conduct, but they also reflect the true spirit of Islam. Firstly, it is important to remember that Eid is a day of thanksgiving to Allah for His blessings and mercy. As such, we should start the day by offering the Eid prayer and giving thanks to Allah for all that He has bestowed upon us. Secondly, it is important to dress appropriately for the occasion. While we should always strive to dress modestly as Muslims, on Eid we should also dress in our best clothes as a sign of respect for the occasion. Thirdly, we should exchange greetings of "Eid Mubarak" with one another, and embrace each other as a sign of our unity and brotherhood in Islam. We should also visit our relatives, friends, and neighbors, and share food and gifts with them as a sign of our love and generosity. Fourthly, it is important to refrain from any kind of sinful behavior on this special day. This includes gossiping, backbiting, and engaging in any kind of behavior that is contrary to the teachings of Islam. Finally, we should make an effort to be kind and charitable to those who are less fortunate than us. This includes giving zakat and sadaqah to the poor and needy, and spreading joy and happiness among those who may not have the means to celebrate Eid as we do. In conclusion, Eid Al-Fitr is a day of joy and celebration, but it is also a day to reflect on our conduct as Muslims. Let us strive to follow the etiquettes of Eid, and make this special day a true reflection of the values and teachings of Islam. May Allah accept our prayers and grant us all a blessed and joyous Eid. Ameen. Jazakum Allahu Khairan 4 Likes |
Islam for Muslims / Conclude Your Ramadan Seeking For Forgiveness by hgnbello(m): 4:20pm On Apr 16, 2023 |
Assalamu Alaikum Dear brothers and sisters, As we approach the end of the blessed month of Ramadan, it is important that we reflect on our actions and seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT) for any shortcomings we may have had during this month. Ramadan is a month of mercy, forgiveness, and spiritual rejuvenation, and we must use this time to its fullest potential. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah, his previous sins will be forgiven." (Bukhari and Muslim) This hadith serves as a reminder to us that Ramadan is not only a time for abstaining from food and drink, but also a time for spiritual cleansing and seeking forgiveness. One of the best ways to seek forgiveness is through sincere repentance. We must acknowledge our mistakes, regret them, and make a firm commitment to change our ways. This includes seeking forgiveness from anyone we may have wronged during Ramadan, as well as seeking forgiveness from Allah (SWT) through sincere dua (supplication). We should also increase our acts of worship during these last few days of Ramadan, such as reciting the Quran, making extra prayers, giving charity, and performing good deeds. These acts of worship not only increase our reward but also serve as a means of seeking forgiveness and attaining closeness to Allah (SWT). In addition to repentance and increased worship, we must also strive to maintain the good habits we have developed during Ramadan. This includes continuing to pray on time, reciting the Quran regularly, and being kind and compassionate towards others. Ramadan is a training ground for us to develop good habits that we can carry with us throughout the year. Finally, we must remember that seeking forgiveness is not a one-time event but a continuous process. We must constantly strive to improve ourselves and seek forgiveness for our mistakes. As Allah (SWT) says in the Quran, "And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed." (Surah An-Nur, 24:31) May Allah (SWT) accept our fasts, forgive our sins, and grant us the strength and guidance to continue on the path of righteousness beyond Ramadan. Ameen. 1 Like 1 Share |
