The Bishop of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Matthew Kukah, has revealed that if he had chosen the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi as his preferred candidate, he would have made the same mistake he made in the past because Bola Tinubu is the only candidate who came prepared for the job and has been preparing since 1990s.

In an interview with Channels Television, Bishop Kukah revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari and the duo of former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, among others who became Nigerian leaders were unprepared, but he is happy that for the first time, Nigeria is going to have a president in the Calibre of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is well prepared for the job.

The Bishop further revealed that both Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar were not prepared for the presidency, and no president or head of state in the history of Nigeria ever came prepared for the job of the number one citizen of the country except the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who has been nursing and preparing for the task decades ago.

He said, "If I had chose Peter Obi, it would be a mistake, Tinubu has been preparing to be president since 1990s. You can go all the way down in Nigeria, you're not going to find one single person who has been President or Head of State in Nigeria that came prepared for the job. Atiku and Obi weren’t prepared for this job and that’s why I said we should not make the same mistakes in rushing to just get someone anyhow who is not prepared to be the president of Nigeria again".

I was shocked and saddened to read an unconfirmed report on Twitter about the death of one of Labour Party's Polling Unit agents at the Trade Fair Area of Lagos. He was said to have been shot on Saturday by APC thugs during the Lagos Governorship election on March 18, 2023.

The report by @omoelerinjare said:
"Good morning all, it is with a heavy heart that Onyeka, one of our strong members and our PU agent at K1 lost his brother who also was a PU agent at the Trade Fair area of Lagos. He was shot on Sat by APC thugs. His body has been taken home for burial."

The name of the victim was not provided but his brother was named as Onyeka. He is pictured below, with the alleged victim of APC thugs. If this report is true, this is the first death resulting from the violent election day attacks against Labour Party members in Lagos.

Enugu Election: They’ve stolen our presidential, guber mandates – LP’s Kenneth Okonkwo.


The Spokesperson for Peter Obi of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has reacted to the Party’s defeat in the Enugu State Governorship election to Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a series of Tweets on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday night, Okonkwo lamented that his Party’s mandate had been stolen just as it happened in the Presidential election.

He, however, said Edeoga would reclaim his victory through the court.

“Cowards die many times before their death – Julius Caesar. Abia’s Returning Officer refused to be intimidated and refused to announce the rigged result. At the same time, Enugu Returning Officer confessed that he was given a figure to announce by the corrupt Abuja INEC officials, and he ‘moomooishly’ announced what was given to him, which was supposed to be a Professor and somebody’s father.

God forbid!! God save our country. They stole our presidential mandate, and now they stole our gubernatorial mandate. By the grace of God, we will recover all.

The Independent National Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer for Enugu State, Prof. Maduebibis Iwe said PDP’s Mbah polled 160,895 votes to narrowly defeat his closest rival, LP’s Chijioke Edeoga who polled 157 552.

The declaration of the Enugu State guber result made it the 26th Governors-elect announced by INEC, pending the completion of the Adamawa and Kebbi states inconclusive elections.
