So the elections have come and gone. Winners have been announced. Some losers have accepted their loss while some have chosen to go to court.

But reflecting on the LP movement and the strides they made, I expected Peter Obi and the LP movement to have done more after the presidential elections. I expected Peter Obi to have campaigned for the LP Gubernatorial and State houses of assembly candidates. It seems his only focus was on Lagos where he couldn't even win. He should have campaigned for LP candidates in the SE, SS and NC. May be the whole movement was just about him and taking Lagos.

Peter Obi had a chance to build a formidable 3rd party. He won In 11 states and should have built on that momentum and focused on building a party rather than taking Lagos. Hw could have learnt from Tinubu.

After leaving office in 2007, Tinubu focused on winning gubernatorial seats for his party. He started with just Lagos, then Osun and Edo. Later Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti and Oyo joined. He was then in a strong position to form an alliance with CPC and make APC a national party. This process took 8 years. And then Tinubu became president after 8 years of APC.

It seems Obi has already given up on LP after just 8 months. He should have campaigned very hard for LP candidates in the SE, SS and NC may be he could even get 4 governors. But at it looks now, he will only get one governor. The one governor would be isolated and easily defect. His strategy of focusing only on Lagos was the wrong one. He could never win Lagos with GRV.... he had a flawed candidate. This process takes time and you just can't create a new party and become president in 8 months or governor in 4 weeks.

So Obi is in court which he will almost certainly lose. So what does he do next? Rejoin PDP but Wike will smoke him out. Lead the Biafra movement thereby challenging MNK? Or just retire to his trading. Please what next for Peter Obi and LP....

Nigerian actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, who is one of the spokespersons for Peter Obi, the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate in the February 25 election, has slammed people he termed as Nigeria's enemies.

He vowed that it shall never be well with the enemies of Nigeria.

Okonkwo made the declaration in a post via his Twitter handle on Sunday.

Okonkwo, a veteran Nollywood actor, was reacting to a video of an unnamed voter (lady) in Lagos who was prevented from voting by political thugs stationed at the polling unit.

He said that those who deceitfully made promises to Nigerians that there would be free and credible elections would never see any good thing.

He wrote, “It shall never be well with all enemies of Nigeria no matter how highly placed they are. Whoever made any promise to Nigerians in deceit will never see any good thing forever. In God we trust.”

The Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday said it will welcome the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last week's governorship election, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor if he returns to the party.

Jandor, who left the APC for the PDP in January 2022 came a distant third in the governorship election which was won by the incumbent, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes, while his closest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party got 312,329. Jandor had 62,449 votes.

Speaking with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Lagos said the party warned Jandor not to embark on a failed mission as Lagosians will appreciate Governor Sanwo-Olu with their votes but he ignored the warning.

" Of course, we will welcome him back with open hands. We told him then to reconsider his move and return to the fold but he ignored the warning. Now that he has learnt his lesson in PDP, we will still open our doors to him if he finds his way back".

" For us in Lagos APC, it is the more, the merrier. Our doors are opened to anyone who wants to join our great party and our performing Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in consolidating on his ongoing projects and significantly advance the journey towards the Greater Lagos initiative".
