Zik of Africa was a true Federalist and labored for all Nigerians, while Awolowo in the other hand was busy stealing from other regions to meet his(and his yoruba brothers) insatiable greed. No wonder he is not remembered anywhere outside yorubaland. M.K.O Abiola means more to Nigeria as a whole than Awolowo, no wonder he(Awo) died the way he did.

ojukwu was an evil demonic man (Aljannun nan)

he was a man that wanted power at all cost like hitler and wanted to rule and make people suffer

he was a very sadistic man, who did not care if he sacrifice igbos and other people to push his agenda to power

he was and is the greatest coward in the history of mankind till date

he left his people during a war and ran to ivory coast, and left his people to the hands of fate

@OP

You put that woman in a family way, I can imagine the mental toture she passed through, all you need to do is send money for the upkeep of your daughter and visit her often. In as much as you want to have the custody, its is better for her to grow up with her mum(especially at dis her age), you might not be there to pay 100% required attention to her. Secondly, your wife-to-be might be nice but she can never take care of your Uju the way the mum would. Very simple!!!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Drogba, Cech Forced Me Out Of Chelsea—scolari by HighChief4(op): 7:41pm On Nov 06, 2010
Former Chelsea boss Luis Felipe Scolari has claimed he was not allowed to do his job properly by the Blues hierarchy - and that he had taught Ashley Cole how to kick with his right foot.

Scolari has said little about his short-lived spell at Stamford Bridge since being sacked by Roman Abramovich in February 2009, on the back of a shocking home draw with Hull.

The Brazilian is now back in his homeland with former club Palmeiras after a lucrative but short stint in Uzbekistan and says he wants to return to coach the national team he led to World Cup glory in 2002 when they host the tournament in 2014.

But it was Scolari's interpretation of his time at Chelsea which was eye-opening as he pointed again pointed the finger at Petr Cech, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba for forcing him out and made a series of bizarre claims about Drogba, Cole, Anelka and Salomon Kalou.

Explaining his exit, Scolari said: "The board were worried because we hadn't beaten any of the big teams.

"I can understand that but we were only two or three points off the lead. And there were all these questions about the atmosphere, because there were one or two issues with some of the top players. That's because I took a stance that other coaches wouldn't have taken. I didn't have total control. There was this resistance to me, mainly because there were two or three players who tried to impose their authority in a way that wasn't right.

"The only thing is that I made them an important part of my plans, and that hadn't been the case before. I wanted them to get back to their best, not just for Chelsea but for the rest of their careers, and they couldn't see that. They wanted to play every game and that was one of the problems I had."

Cech, Ballack - now at Bayer Leverkusen and Drogba - who fell out with Scolari spectacularly in the Brazilian's last six weeks - have already been blamed privately by the former Blues boss but the South American insisted it was cultural differences that killed him.

Scolari added: "Whenever European clubs appoint South American coaches they always have doubts about how they work.

"My working methods were not the kind you'd usually associate with English football. In South America we do a lot of work on the basics.

"When we have a whole week of training sessions, for example, we get the first-team players and the reserves together, and that doesn't really happen over there. That was another of the reasons why I didn't stay.

"I just carried on with my job though, and I know that some of the players improved as a result."

This was where Scolari reinvented history, as he said: "Look at Nicolas Anelka. He wasn't getting a game and then all of a sudden he was Chelsea's top scorer.

"Ashley Cole couldn't use his right foot and later he even scored with it, and all Salomon Kalou could do was run fast.

"He couldn't dribble very well, so we taught him to dribble round poles. Ok, I know they were only poles in the ground but it helped him to start dribbling round opponents, which is something he does now without any problem.

"And then there's Drogba, who had a serious knee injury but is fine now thanks to the work I did, not just the club's doctors. I refused to let him play with an injury and I had problems with him because of that. But in 20 or 30 years' time, there'll be two or three of them who'll still be walking absolutely fine. They'll remember me then, for sure.

"I've never spoken about this before and I'm not bringing it up now to justify myself. I understood the reasons and I accepted them. I was sad because I was enjoying the job and I wanted to stay on. I think English football's great, but I had to go and I did."

Scolari did admit that complaints by the players over his poor command of English were justified as he went on: "It would have been much easier for me if my English was better, because I would have used normal words as well as the others you often hear on a football pitch.

"They're a bit stronger and sometimes players understand that kind of language better than if you talk to them like a friend.

"Yes, it would have been different. You have to think hard about which words to use and that stops your thought processes. And even then it often comes out wrong. If I'm talking in Portuguese though, I'll say what I want to say and add a bit more if I feel like it. Then I'm done."
Celebrities › J Martins Denies Rift With P-square by HighChief4(op): 7:35pm On Nov 06, 2010
Music producer and singer, Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as J Martins, has debunked the rumour that he has parted ways with Paul and Peter Okoye a.k.a.P-Square, over the ownership of the hit song, E No Easy.

Reacting to the story published in a soft-sell magazine this week, J Martins said there was no iota of truth in the said story.

According to him, Peter and Paul are his brothers and his cordial relationship with them is still as intact as ever.

He said that “E No Easy is not my song. I only produced it and P-Square featured me in it. So, when I learnt about the rumour that I had a fight with P Square over the ownership of the song, I was just laughing because it is a baseless information. I wonder where the rumour came from.

“Peter and Paul are God’s sent to me. They have helped me a lot and are still helping me. Our relationship is beyond music; it is more of a family thing and no devil can come in-between us,” he satated.

Since he made his debut with the hit song, Good Or Bad, some years back, he has been enjoying a steady rise to stardom.

At the moment, he has established himself as a singer and producer to reckon with.

He, however, owes his success to God and P-Square, saying “these guys actually gave me their support to ride on. They provided me with the platform to showcase my talent to the world. It wouldn’t have been that easy without their support.”

Meanwhile, J Martins whose fingers are behind many wave-making songs in the country, has released the video of Jupa, another hit song from his current album.
Celebrities › D’banj Collaborates With Snoop Dog. by HighChief4(op): 7:33pm On Nov 06, 2010
Multiple award winning act, D’banj formerly called Kokomaster, and recently re-christened Mr Endowed, has continued in his efforts to retain his status as one of Nigeria’s leading artistes.

Early this week, news of a collaboration with American rapper, Snoop Dogg, on a track surfaced.

The tale became more believable when D’banj’s friend and label boss, Don Jazzy posted on Twitter a promo artwork of Mr Endowed remix with D’banj and Snoop Dogg on the cover. The ensuing responses were predictable.

Mr Endowed was released in May this year as Dbanj’s lead single off his expected fourth album titled after the single. Scapegoat was the follow up single. For now, it is unclear if Mr Endowed re_mix will be released as single No. 3 or if fans will have to wait for the full album which may or may not drop this year. The singer’s management is yet to make an official statement on the development.
Politics › No Plans To Withdraw, Says Jonathan. by HighChief4(op): 7:23pm On Nov 06, 2010
The Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation has denied in strong terms a statement attributed to a pro-zoning politician and former Ambassador to Switzerland, Alhaji Yahaya Kwande, that President Goodluck Jonathan would give up his bid to contest the presidential election in 2011.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the organisation, Mr. Sully Abu, described the statement as a figment of the imagination of the former ambassador.

Abu said that the President had not and would not contemplate withdrawing from the presidential race. He said that rather than withdraw from the race, Jonathan was keen about making himself available for the number one office in the land to actualise his objective to bring transformation to the country.

He challenged Kwande to devote his energy to the promotion of the cause of his principal, rather than venturing into issues that did not concern him.

Abu reminded him that he was not a spokesman for the President neither was he a supporter of the President’s ambition to retain the presidency next year.

He said “President Jonathan has never contemplated and is not contemplating withdrawing from the race for the presidency in 2011.

“On the contrary, he is enthusiastic about the prospects of his offering himself for service and helping to transform Nigeria.

“The Director Media and Publicity Committee of the organisation, Mr. Sully Abu, calls on Kwande to concentrate his energy on promoting the cause of his principal rather than embarking on a wild-goose chase.

“He is neither a spokesman for Jonathan nor a supporter of his cause. He, therefore, lacks, absolutely, the credentials to speak for the President.”

He urged all other aspirants for the position of president to adopt Jonathan approach to political debate and his issue-oriented campaigns.

Abu stressed that those who were aspiring to provide leadership for the country should focus on how to convince the citizenry on how they planned to render quality and effective governance instead of engaging in a campaign of calumny.
Politics › Another Mass Sack In Banks •1,000 Lose Jobs, More To Go ! by HighChief4(op): 7:21pm On Nov 06, 2010
The end seems not in sight over the mass purge in banks across the country. This follows the commencement of second phase of sack in the banking industry.

investigations conducted by Saturday Tribune revealed that over 1000 bank workers lost their jobs in the last few weeks with more to follow in the coming days.

Saturday Tribune gathered that many bank workers would celebrate the Yuletide without jobs as many banks are already putting finishing touches to the list of workers that would be sacked.

Ironically, the latest sack is more prominent in banks that were otherwise declared sound and safe aftermath of the stress test conducted on all the money deposit banks in the country by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) last year.

Under the new strategy, when an employee can no longer log into the bank’s intranet, it then implies that he should contact the human resources department for termination letter.

It was gathered that banks now hinge the downsizing exercise as part of new business strategy. One of the banks, which has regional affiliation, recently sacked over 500 workers, a development the management of the bank linked to restructuring and business turn- around process.

According to the bank, the disengagement of the workers was part of the group’s strategies designed to consolidate and optimise its operations, adding that the action is predicated on the bank’s strategy to drive performance and deliver optimum value to all of its stakeholders with a highly efficient structure.

Also, one of the first generation banks, which recently shed its workforce by sacking over 300 employees, hinged the motive on refocusing its strategy. It took the intervention of the domestic and national union officials to douse the tension generated by the management’s decision. However, the management had its way.

Speaking to Saturday Tribune in Lagos, Vice President, Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI), Comrade Sunday Salako, confirmed that the recent rate of sack was a negotiated exit, stressing that both the unions and bank officials met and had amicably resolved it.

He warned that the union would not tolerate any further sack in the industry, stating that the banks must consult with relevant unions in any downsizing process.

Speaking on the rate of sack in the banking industry, President General of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Peter Esele, said the union is prepared to dialogue with the management to resolve the sack in the sector, but maintained that in a situation whereby dialogue ceases to address the contending issues, the union would be forced to take laws into their hands and close down the entire industry.

He blamed the CBN for the sack in the industry, saying that the various reforms spearheaded by the CBN governor and the process of disengagement of workers in the industry remain questionable.

According to the labour leader, the banks have not followed the provisions of collective bargaining agreement in their actions, adding that workers were sacked by management without negotiating their severance benefits with the respective unions.

It would be recalled that over 7000 bank workers lost their jobs in the first phase of sack that characterised post-consolidation in the banking industry.

According to the CBN Governor, Lamido Sanusi, the apex bank “will not support a situation in which we direct an institution to continue to live on a cost profile that is not consistent with its revenue profile.”
Politics › 2011: Us, Uk Security Turn Searchlight On Atiku. by HighChief4(op): 7:20pm On Nov 06, 2010
The ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to contest the 2011 presidential election appears to be getting some negative mention in the international security circles, following indications the United States security services have placed him under close watch.

Information at the disposal of the Saturday Tribune indicated that the United States security outfits in conjunction with operatives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Mi5 of the United Kingdom are working on certain information relating to Atiku.

Sources claimed that Atiku’s activities came into focus following indications that he was putting his Potomac house on sale and relocating his interests to the UAE.

Diplomatic sources stated that Atiku is under watch after he relocated his wife, Jemilar, from the United States to the UAE.

“The reports are to the effect that Atiku is under watch for a number of issues. There are fresh insights into the Thomas Jefferson case. There are also indications that he plans to sell his house in Potomac, Maryland and relocate the proceeds to the UAE. The house is worth millions of dollars. The movement of funds around him is being watched,” a source close to the development said during the week.

Other sources said that the US is also watching Atiku over reports linking him to alleged acquisition of OPL 245 through an Italian and other associates.

“The Mi5 has worked closely with the UAE authorities in recent years. They are worried about movement of funds into the UAE. They are aware that a number of top Nigerians are fast turning the UAE into abodes and they are settled on the need to track funds no matter the intent,” another source said.

But the spokesman of Atiku Campaign organisation, Mallam Garba Shehu, said in an interview that the former vice president believed that he was being closely monitored by the Nigerian authorities rather than American security operatives.

He said: “Atiku is not an American. He does not own investments in the US. What we gathered was that the Nigerian government plans to uproot all the Obasanjo cases against Atiku and use them to scandalise him.”

Shehu said that the House in Potomac was not on sale and that whoever planned to buy it should beware.

“What is happening is that the Jonathan government has been gathering dirty things about its opponents. We are aware that the legal adviser to the government has asked for cooperation and support from the US government so that they can reopen all those Obasanjo cases against him. And the American government told him that in all those cases, they did not find anything against Atiku and that the US government does not think it is politically wise for them to dabble into local Nigerian politics,” Atiku’s spokesman said.
