doctokwus: I don't understand d link btw d dilapidated structures he captured& d place stinking of corruption. On what basis has he so concluded,av d top brass bn given money for projects dat dey embezzled.A place bein dilapidated does not necessarily mean its stinking of corruption, moreso wen d op cannot show evidence of a contract awarded, money released, but not executed.Dnt rush to conclude d DG is corrupt,d rot cud b frm d ministry itself or evn further up

Try to read posts before rushing to comment. Did you not see where the @OP mentioned that apart from the subvention they get from get that they still generate so much money from commercials. If it is not corruption why has the Director of the agency not reported to the FG and demand for full overhauling of their equipment and buildings. Are you trying to tell me that FG does not make budget for something as important as our National Broadcasting radio station. My brother, corruption has ripple effects, it affects almost everything and I commend the OP for this bold step, wish more Nigerians would emulate him and expose certain things at their places of work. I weep for that country everyday.

Islam is all about terrorism and muslims will keep denying this fact. Their Qur’an instigates them to kill and maim people.

JUST IMAGINE THESE FROM THE BOOK OF ‘PEACE’

“So, fight them till all opposition ends and the only religion is Islam” Qur’an 8:39
“Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an.” 8:12
“Slay the unbelievers [non-muslims] wherever you find them.” 2:191
“When opportunity arises, kill the infidels wherever you catch them.” 9:5
“Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable.” 3:85
“The Jews and the Christians are perverts; fight them.” 9:30
“Make war on the infidels [christians and jews ] living in your neighborhood.” 9:123
“Maim and crucify the infidels if they criticize Islam.” 5:33
“Punish the unbelievers with garments of fire, hooked iron rods, boiling water; melt their skin and bellies.” 22:19
“Do not hanker for peace with the infidels; behead them when you catch them.” 47:4
“The unbelievers are stupid; urge the Muslims to fight them.” 8:65
“Muslims must not take the infidels as friends.” 3:28
“Muslims must muster all weapons to terrorize the infidels.” 8:60.

Respect is key in marriage --- love comes and love fades but respect is key.

God bless you, as for me, respect comes first before love.

If you dont respect me, then how are you gonna love me?

Even when the love fades, respect will still keep the marriage going.

Did that Igbo man release him? It took a middle-belter called Gowon to release him. For eff sake, stop lying. Since when the Gowon become a Hausa. Even his closest friend Nnamdi join a Hausa to imprison him and cause chaos in the Western region after splitting it to reduce her political dominance but God does not sleep.

You guys are not being sincere and that's your problem.

Honestly, you always try to cover the truth. We all know Ojukwu released him and Ojukwu said that himself. How do you think that soldiers at Calabar(Biafran state) would be taking orders from Gowon. Ojukwu was the commander-in-chief in Biafra and released Awo, who later turned his back on Ojukwu and betrayed him.

Honestly, I wish everybody here applauding the gal would say the same thing when we have another thread up here saying how a guy dumped a gal for no just reason. I have seen so many gals here insult posters on this board simply because they wanted to end their relationships for no just reason, some were called wicked, demons and all sort of names. In as much as its not good to remain in a relationship you are not into anymore, I would not condone people breaking up for no just reason. There must be a reason that gal wants to leave that guy and until she explains that reason, I still maintain that what she intends doing is not too good. We cannot give her a fair judgment without knowing the reasons behind her decision. Punto

Politics / Corruption Should Attract Death Penalty –lawyers by HighChief4(m): 6:25pm On Jun 25, 2012
Prominent lawyers have called for the amendment of the constitution to recognise corruption as a capital offence that will attract death penalty just as armed robbery.

The lawyers said this while reacting to the death sentence passed by a Jos High Court on 26-year-old Obinah John last Thursday for robbing someone of N1,705 and two rolls of sachet milk, valued at N400, at gunpoint.

In separate interviews with SUNDAY PUNCH, the lawyers argued that, since the law recommended death sentence for an offence like armed robbery, corruption should also attract such harsh penalty.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Tayo Oyetibo, said as far as the law was concerned, the punishment for armed robbery was death by hanging, irrespective of how much was stolen.

According to him, Nigerians should demand an amendment of the constitution to ensure that those who steal public funds face similar penalty.

Oyetibo said, “The judge was right since it was proven that the person robbed with a gun. Unless the constitution is amended, those who steal public funds to the tune of billions of Naira would continue to get lighter penalty.”

Also, activist lawyer, Mr. Bamidele Aturu, described the Nigerian constitution as “unfair.”

He said that with the number of high-profile corruption cases in the country, he would have struck out the case, if he were the judge.

He said, “The judgment showed there is no even-handed justice in Nigeria. The law seems to be serving the interest of the elite. Judgment was in conformity with the constitution but not with the common sense.

“The law is supposed to the fair with everybody. What of the oil thieves indicted in the fuel subsidy probe report? Are they not some of those who created the condition that forced that man into armed robbery?

“I recommend that corruption should be treated as a capital offence in the country with a stiffer penalty.”

Another lawyer, Fred Agbaje, argued that even though responsible citizens should not condone criminality, there should be equality in the dispensation of justice.

He said, “The constitution is about equality, justice and freedom. If a man is found culpable of armed robbery, he must face the death sentence. However, a court that was in a hurry to sentence an armed robber who stole N1, 700, should also be prepared to attend to corruption cases, which has become an economic crime.

“The corrupt however hide under the umbrella of plea bargaining to pay their way out of punishment. There is a gross inequality in the administration of justice in Nigeria. The system deserves a comprehensive surgical overhauling.”

Taiwo Osipitan (SAN), also advised Nigerians to demand the amendment of the constitution to establish stiffer punishment for corrupt public officials.

Politics / Corruption Caused Crash, Says Man Who Lost Wife, Daughter, Sister-in-law by HighChief4(m): 6:07pm On Jun 25, 2012
For every disaster or incident in Nigeria, the same templates have been adopted being investigation, recommendations, white paper, etc. There is never implementation until the white paper turns brown or another disaster happens, and the template is dusted up and the circle continues. In Nigeria, operators are regulators and regulators are operators. Government officials are contractors and contractors are government officials

A man, who lost his wife, daughter and sister-in-law to the ill-fated Dana Air plane crash, Mr. Ike Ibe, yesterday blamed unbridled corruption in the country for the crash of the airline.

Ike, who appeared before the Joint Senate and House of Representatives investigative committee on the crash of the Dana Air plane, came close to shedding tears as he spoke.

He gave a blow-by-blow account of how his wife and daughter of 11 years boarded the ill-fated Dana plane.

He said: “Thank you for the opportunity to speak at this public hearing. I have come neither as a regulator nor as an operator, neither did I come as an official or stakeholder. I came because I’m involved, and I’m involved because I’ve been dazed by Dana. Half of my family, my wife Nancy, my daughter Jennifer and my wife’s Auntie Maria were victims of the Dana crash.

“On January 1, 1997, I married an angel called Nancy Echendu Ibe (nee Okwulehie). God blessed us with a warm and caring family and sent two other angels to the world through us named Jessica and Jennifer aged 13 and 11. On Sunday June 3, 2012, I drove my family to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport for Nancy and Jennifer to catch a flight to Lagos on their way for a family event in India. They were joined by another family member, Mrs. Maria Okwulehie. They were to be away for 10 days. Now they will be away permanently.

“When I decided to move my family back to Nigeria from the United States, many people thought I was crazy and I would regret the move before long. They were right. Here I was, yanking my family away from a society where everything works, where life is good, where the government works, where rules and regulations are obeyed, where there is high level of certainty of public and private actions, where schools are highly rated, where hospitals are properly equipped and very well staffed, where drivers are intelligent enough to pass junctions without relying on traffic warders or light, where there are hardly pot holes on the roads, where official corruption is hardly present, where leaders are trustees of the peoples’ power and people are the custodians of the power. I was dragging my family out from this society and taking them to Nigeria where everything seemed entirely and sadly apocalyptic.

“My wife and my daughters tried so hard to adapt after the first year but it was tough for them. Of all things, my family couldn’t understand the constant blaring of horns by driver, nor why there was always traffic jams, especially at intersections. They did not understand why there was constant power failure and blackouts or why we always had to generate our own home electricity, pump our own water and hire our own security personnel. They could neither understand why we had to spend hours on fuel queues or why people.

“All kinds of commentaries have been written and all shades of reasons have been adduced for the Dana crash. I have read stories that the black box had been recovered and taken abroad for analysis. If my wife were to be here, she would tell you that there’s only one reason that the black box would give for the crash and it is corruption.

“I agreed with my wife on many things during our 15 years of marriage, I would have agreed with her on this. It is very clear that over the years, the Nigerian system and structure has broken down.

“For every disaster or incident in Nigeria, the same templates have been adopted being investigation, recommendations, white paper, etc. There is never implementation until the white paper turns brown or another disaster happens, and the template is dusted up and the circle continues. In Nigeria, operators are regulators and regulators are operators. Government officials are contractors and contractors are government officials.”
