magicminister: I am your typical 2.2. graduate from a federal University in Nigeria. I was frustrated and treated so badly by the people that should've mentored me and encouraged me to grow. Fortunately, i was able to pursue a masters degree abroad and made a 3.9/4.0 gpa.
That was when i realized that i am actually not a dullard but the Nigerian public education system failed me... Even if you want to go to school in Naija, i strongly strongly advise you go to reputable private school like covenant. They might have stringent rules but at least you are sure that your effort would not be thwarted by a lecturer because he saw you eating isi-ewu at a bar or for some other stupid reasons!!
Graduating with a 2.2 automatically denied me many opportunities. I was pretty much ineligible for employment in most Nigerian companies, my dream of going to an IVY league school was out the window. Public schools in Naija isn’t worth it!!! You’re better off with a 2.1 from a mushroom private school than a 2.2 from a public school!!! Which school did you do your MSc? |

Listen, you this raging demon from the depth of hell, do not quote me again! It is your father the devil that is a reprobate. Stinking devil from Hell. The Jesus I serve is the Jesus that gives freely. He didn't come to save those without need. He came to save the lost. If Jesus where here, he would give whatever it is to sick and to those who are lost. But you don't know Jesus - you are a man trapped in fruitless religion. While I support bishop oyedepo vision my allegiance is to the word of God. And a building is never the Church. Those buildings you see are not more precious than one single human life. So therefore I know you are sent from the devil. As I said again, if an outbreak happens we would open the doors of the church and bring the sick into it. You are free to jump the into the lake of fire if you don't like it. |

A lot of Nigerian Christians lack the depth to understand what Christianity is really about. I made a post that calls the Church to sacrifice and be a tool for the rescue of the nation and someone(probably Christian) comes here to counter my opinion which he believes is Antichrist.
The beauty of Christianity shuns in darkness and every trying time. The Europeans left the comforts of Europe and many sank in the sea to bring the black race to Jesus. Many abandoned family to treat and school the African generation. Today, many of their graves lie scattered across sub Saharan Africa. They sacrificed for you - they didn't say let the Arabs teach them or give them civilization.
Today, you are asked to rent your church building to save yourselves from dying. Yet you are showing yourselves high wickedness. You would rather argue that Muslims should be forced to sacrifice mosque. Jeez I can't deal. |

pmoye: Neither does being a Christian automatically give you authority to suggest that other persons' properties be taken up by the government for whatever purpose. The government should go and be responsible instead of looking for private individuals to bail them out. How long should it have taken a responsible government to have erected structures that serve as triage sites in every region at least? It will amount to a high level of irresponsibility for private individuals to cover up for a mediocre government. If the government was up and doing in time past, that's another matter. If the spiritual business men to whom the church buildings belong voluntarily offer their properties for the use of the government it is a different thing. But to allow government into these expensive structures would be tantamount to inviting callous people into the buildings who are likely going to leave damages behind. Don't be silly. I never recommended that the properties. Use your eyes, I said "Govt should initiate talks with Churches" so it can use their facility for everyone's good. If outbreak happens won't Christians die? Why should we peril when we have a facility that can help us rathet shut and lie fallow in a crisis. Lastly, Church property is not Private property in the sense of excluding the public. It can be borrowed for public good in a crisis. |

okunola1: You only displayed your level of stupidity by mentioning the churches. Let me assure you that your plans are dead on arrival. Churches are not isolation center. Go back to your reckless irresponsible government to tow the lanes of other countries by doing the needful.(quote author=HigherEd post=87570357]Considering the fact that Nigeria as it is currently run does not have the capacity to build a 1000 bed hospital in just days. It is imperative to identify already existing resources that can be used to cater for thousands of infected patients in a potential outbreak.
Amazingly, in terms of structure, some enclosed Nigerian buildings may prove so useful for a whole number of reasons. Personally, I have always argued that government should work with churches and incorporate their facilities with NEMA as potential temporal facilities to accommodate large numbers of people during intense national crisis. Of course, there's need for government to build her own facilities as the Churches built theirs for a reason.
But with the Covid19 potential outbreak, Churches are not going to be operational for the large part. So government should begin initiating contacts with churches to see if their facilities are suitable for makeshift hospitals in case of a potential outbreak.
1st: Faith Tabernacle Ota:
Faith Tabernacle Ota is one of the largest free span structure currently existing anywhere in the world. Worth billions of Naira. The facility can accommodate 53,000 worshippers at any given time. It can therefore accommodate between 3,000 - 3,500 beds. With it being fully Air conditioned, it is independent of external ventilation. Another feature which makes it an ideal place for mass treatment of potential infected patients from South West Nigeria is that it is run by an independent power plant with a 21 year record of having 24/7 electricity.
Lastly, a two minutes drive eastward into the Church's university is one of the country's most viable molecular and virology laboratories, which can be used to test patients. Ok you are a fool. When hurricane hit Texas and churches opened their centers to house homeless people did heaven fall? The church is a rescue center for the weak and oppressed. So stfu and get off my mentions. |

cyrilamx: humanity first. Throughout history in event of human disasters and epidemic outbreaks, the Catholic church had always open the doors of her churches and monasteries to house and care for victims. Most often her priests and religious sisters in process of caring and nursing the victims succumb to the diseases too. During the Nazi persecution of Jews and opposers of its ideologies, Catholic churches were secretly used to house Jews and others. So it is evil should churches of today reject such cry to help. They will be no different from the priest and levite in the story of the Good Samaritan Thank you. A lot of people don't think. |

I sincerely believe these are the only facilities that can bed thousands of patients at the same time. Particularly, since Nigeria is plagued with uniquely useless political leaders. It's not like patients are going to be there forever anyway. And once population of infected decreases to below 200 they can be relocated to proper hospitals and the Church facilities thoroughly disinfected. I wrote about this because I'm a Christian. I didn't include mosque as I do not have the authority to write on that. But any true Church should be willing to help in a national crisis |

Finger Of God Cathedral, Porth Harcourt, Nigeria
The Finger of God Cathedral is the upcoming largest cathedral in the world designed to house 120,000 worshippers. It is being built with an enclosed air condition system. Also, the Finger of God is segregated into multiple arms and can be used to segregate patients according to their severity of infection.
Like Glory Dome and Faith Tabernacle it will most likely run on independent power also. And its construction can be sped up with Government funding to serve as a treatment zone for about 5,000 - 7,000 people in South South/South East Zones.
