Baba no worry yourself. If you are good and perform excellently well in the interview, just tell them that your company doesn't issue pay slip or the pay slip only covers the basic remuneration and other earnings are tied to allowance and there is no pay slip for it. Most big companies does that such as banks. They pay twice; taxable income and non taxable incomes in form of allowance.

Thank you. I've just decided to come clean.. I didn't think I'd make it through the interviews that's why I just put in a random high number as my current pay.. I guess I underestimated myself.

Like I posted earlier, if you use a forged payslip, pray it doesn't bite you later on.

You truly didn't have to lie, you can negotiate the new level based on what you can bring to the table irrespective of your current salary level.

It was on bad advisement, I have submitted the real pay slips.

The bonuses you spoke about, do they add up to the value you told the recruiter? If Yes, you can share your payslip and your bank statement with the value highlighted on your statement...write a short narrative explaining the difference in the body of the mail.


Note that if you forge a payslip and the recruiter suspects that it is fake, they may ask for your bank statement.

What a dilemma

During my initial interview I gave a figure that was above my current pay, now they insist on me providing the payslip before proceeding to the next stage of the employment process.

The thing is I have monthly bonuses not captured on the payslip and I fear not providing evidence would make me disqualified for the role.

Who has navigated such process before as I don't know what to do.

Is it even legal to ask for payslips?

Will they actually contact my current employer to verify the payslip?

Note: it's a financial institution. I heard they are fond of doing this during their recruitment.

I got a phone call from them asking for what I currently do. I think considering the pay (which obviously won’t be much) they wanted to know if I’d be willing to take the job. When I told them I currently work in the bank and how much I was paid, they told me quite simply that the current position didn’t pay up to my current salary and I’d be better off in the bank. Your course is a nice course but you can still stand out, gain more transferable and technical skills, you should have domain knowledge already.

You can blow your trumpet on linkedin and twitter on every course, skill or project you accomplish.

It is never smooth sailing for many of us but let us not relent. I just felt that with your course of study you can do better than teaching.

Definitely NFIU is better and more flexible , salary is about 170-180k, immigration is normal 130-150k monthly
