Politics / Nigerians Are The One Stopping President Jonathan Progress- Your Take by hipinnacle: 3:40pm On Jun 25, 2012
Following the 2hours media chat with Mr. President, it shows by his speech that most of his initiative and policy are being frustrated by Nigerians by politicizing everything. Even the book-haram, he claimed he never expected it meaning it meant him unprepared considering the fact that he was the sitting president for one year b4 the election.
These are some of his policy and ideas so far;
Single tenure- frustrated
Fuel subsidy removal-frustrated and politicized according to GEJ
Electricity tariff- wide complaint
Renaming of unilag- wide complaint
GEJ even admit that Nigerians are abusing him even here on nairaland they will not stop hating the president they voted for.
But wait, how can we progress as a nation without first passing through the pains or what do you think folks………

Politics / Nigeria Can Be Great If................ by hipinnacle: 8:29am On Jun 23, 2012
Nigeria is wounded and bleeding………. She needs rescuers, and not sympathizers. You ask, how? Then, I will tell you.

You can help by doing what is right in your own corner unnoticed. I asked myself. Is there no single righteous man in this land? If a whole nation can be saved from dearth (scarcity and hunger) because one man dreamt and another man interpreted…….. Pharaoh and joseph, a whole city was built because one man took the giant step to approach the king and also channel his salary to the suffering of the people……. Nehemiah. Then Nigeria can be saved if 1 out of 10,000 starts having a change of mind.

At your corner, in your little way, are you doing the following, then my country, Nigeria would be healed from her bleeding and experience a new dawn…..
• When you buy stuff, and you are being overpaid with change and the seller did not know, do you always, I mean always return back the overpaid money?
• Do you take another person girl or lady under your roof and started cheating on another man’s future wife?
• When you wake up in the morning or before you tiredly rush to bed in the night, do you say a simple prayer for Nigeria like God bless Nigeria? Oh! All you say is what a stupid nation with daft leaders. Then I tell you, if we keep at that, law of utterance will caught up with us and in 20 years’ time, we will still be feeling miserable.
• Do you care for your mum or old dad when they are alive or all you do is to throw party when they are gone?
• Um! Do you think in your heart of becoming rich overnight even if it has to be in an illegal manner?
• Do you feel too pompous to say “am sorry” when you know you are wrong? Or everything you muter to yourself is that how can me that am up to this ridicule myself to say sorry, please or thank you at every occasion, then check yourself, you must be a nut (just joking)…… hey, dust off your pride, you don’t need it, you are a dust from Adam.
• Do you make a promise and falter and you deliberately shy away from it?
• Do you pack refuse and debris from your home to another man street very early in the morning and look around making sure no one is approaching, and dump it into their gutter.
• Do you lie cheaply even when you know telling the truth would have rescued somebody?
• Do you stop your car when traffic light beckon on you or you are in haste to catch up with an appointment?
• Add your own…………

We must begin to know that Nigeria will not be great until the people in it are better. Play your own part today. Somebody said, it is from among the people that leaders emerge to rule the same people. Therefore, the man that is stealing billions today started stealing pencil in his primary schools days unnoticed or without being cautioned, cheated on his friend girlfriend untold (keep it secret) in the secondary school days and even slyly added x2 0r x3 to his school fees demanded from his parent during university days.
You think all these aforementioned are not possible again in this generation that is perverse and full of shit, then you are wrong……. You know what, start to do them one after the other, and you will see how easy they are.

If a country is full of edifice and riches and corruption is underneath, one day those riches will disappear and the edifice will crumble.

We don’t need a miracle to happen in this country, we just need men with change of heart and attitude folks and everybody we start seeing the ripple effect. Good morning.

Politics / Re: Farouk Lawan: Femi Otedola's $500K Bribe Was To Expose Him by hipinnacle: 10:45am On Jun 12, 2012
I GOT INTO THINKING THIS MORNING; I BEGIN 2 WONDER WHAT IS ALL THIS MADNESS ABOUT. WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO DISPLAY THIS SENSELESS SHOW OF SHAME WITHOUT FOR ONCE HAVING A DEEP THOUGHT ABOUT OUR FUTURE AS A NATION?
WHAT IS GOING TO BECOME THE CHARADE REPORT OF FAROUK-LAWAN LED COMMITTEE NOW AFTER HE (FAROUK-LAWAN) HAS OPEN UP THAT HE DID COLLECT THE SAID AMOUNT OF $500,000 FROM THE BILLIONAIRE, FEMI OTEDOLA? HE ALSO CLAIMED TO INVOLVE THE SECURITY JUST LIKE OTEDOLA TOO INVOLVED THE SECURITY.

WHAT A STORY? WHO IS PLAYING WHO INTO THE GALLERY HERE? WHEN ARE WE GOING TO BE FREED FROM THIS RUBBISH OF SETTING UP A COMMITTEE TO PBROBE A SECTOR, JUST BEFORE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COMMITTEE REPORT, THE COMMITTEE WILL BE SURELY INDICTED AND ACCUSED OF COLLECTING BRIBES AND ANOTHER COMMITTEE WILL THEN BE SET-UP TO PROBE THE PROBING COMMITTEE, THE PROBERS.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO HAVE FOR ONCE PEOPLE THAT WILL SET PACE IN THIS COUNTRY AND COME OUT WITH FAIRNESS AND EQUITY AND COME OUT TO PUT SANITY TO THE LAND.
PLEASE MAY I ASK; IS NIGERIA INSANE? AS A YOUNG FELLOW, I ALMOST GOT CONFUSED WHEN I HEARD THE NEWS AND I SCREAMED AGAIN! SINCE OBASANJO TENURE, IT HAS BEEN LIKE THAT; PROBING COMMITTEE COLLECTING BRIBES. SHALL MINORITY CONTINUE IN THEIR INSANITY TO BE DECEIVING THE MAJORITY? OR HAVE WE ALL TURNED TO BE THIEVES AND MONEY HAS JUST BECOME THE VALUE OUR FORE-FATHERS TALKED ABOUT?

20 YEARS AGO, PEOPLE BELIEVED THINGS WILL CHANGE. 20 YEARS AFTER, THINGS ARE GETTING WORST. BELIVE IT OR NOT, NIGERIA MIGHT BE DOOMED IF THINGS CONTINUE THIS WAY. HOW CAN WE HAVE A BETTER NIGERIA IF EVERYBODY IS THINKING OF MONEY, MONEY AND MONEY AS IF WITHOUT MONEY WE CAN NOT SURVIVE? AS IF MONEY IS WHAT THEY USED TO PRONOUNCE CURSE ON THIS NATION. CAN’T THERE BE A TIME WHEN WE WILL SAY THAT WE HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO SPEND? OR WHY ARE WE ACCUMULATING THE MONEY THAT WE DONT EVEN KNOW TO SPEND IT ON, CAN WE DRIVE 100 CARS AT ONCE OR CAN WE USE MONEY TO BRIBE DEATH FROM KILLING US SO AS TO HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO SPEND THE PAPERS?

WHAT HAS GOT WRONG IN OUR HEAD OR ARE WE NUT? NIGERIA HAS TURNED TO A TERRITORY WHERE EVERYBODY HAS BECOME MAD AND SILLY ABOUT MONEY. ARE WE STILL GOING TO SPEND THIS MONEY ELSEWHERE ASIDE THIS PLANET EARTH?
PLEASE FOLKS; LET US HAVE A CHANGE OF MIND, IF NIGERIA CHANGES TODAY FOR BETTER, IT IS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF ALL AND SUNDRY. HABA!

Politics / Re: A Tribute To Late President Umaru Musa Yaradua!!! by hipinnacle: 5:47pm On May 06, 2012
Today is exactly 2 years that you left us in the hands of the Buccaneers. When you were around we thought you were the bad one, the luckless one, the slow one and the sick one. Yes, you were sick, in fact, too sickly all through your administration, but you were never as sick as these current brain sick pirates. We all cried for your resignation at the height of your sickness, lampooning you, your first lady and your supporters (The first set of Cabals), asking you to die if you want to die and allow the man with all the luck in this world to lead us. We forgot that even though you were sick, you were the first Governor to have ever declared ur assets publicly and you remained the only President in the history of Nigeria to have ever declare his assets publicly. We conveniently forgot that even though you were gravely sick you were the first president to ever reduced the price of petrol in Nigeria,(This you did twice. From #75 to #70 and later from #70 to #65 ) and the economy did not collapse like the present Brigands are making us believe. We forgot that you didn't afflict yourself with your sickness and so could do very little about it, but we still insisted that you just have to go, just because Mr luck will have the chance to rule us. We forgot that even though you were terminally ill, you still succeeded in solving the NigerDelta crisis which you didn't cause, but which you promised to find a solution to (when the present nitwits keep blaming others for their inability to govern a country well). You gave us rule of Law, Andy Uba lost in court and was removed as Anambra State's Governor in less than 3 hours. Oni lost in Ekiti and was removed, Agagu lost in Ondo and was removed, Osunbor lost in Edo and was removed even though they are all your party people. You can compare and contrast that with Sylva's case in Bayelsa and see if we are still practising rule of law. President Umaru Musa Yaradua, we have seen what a healthy president has been doing with us. R.I.P
Politics / Proffer A Creative Solution To Nigeria Problems Forum (created 4 All To Av A Say by hipinnacle: 12:26pm On May 01, 2012
Every 5 days for a couple of weeks, we shall be considering a germane topic once in 5 days and we shall raise discussions on it. E.g. Leadership, insecurity, unemployment, corruption, power, politics 2015 etc.

Please Seun let this be at the front page. Who knows: it might be the beginning of operation clean Nigeria mess and this can start from our own nairaland. Our slogan must always be Nigeria here I come to contribute my own quota…….
I think it is high time we start to proffer creative and proactive solutions to Nigeria problems. This is a forum created to engage like minds and not soothsayers, abusers and ‘tribalistic’ individuals. If we want our dear Nations to change, it must start with VALUE ORIENTATION AND MINDSET PURIFICATION.

The forum is not to criticize or identify who is wrong but to suggest maximum of TWO solutions to an outlined problem. I believe that if the number posters and participants on nairaland can start a mental revolution and pose as the real Nigeria CHANGE AGENTS, before we know it, the message will spread across all tribes, religious and homes.
Please let us put aside for now about Nigeria splitting (at least we are still 2gether) or Islam/Christianity is a terrorist group. We have joked and played enough with our destiny. The future greatness will be as a result of our today input. We can’t expect to be great in 2015 if we refuse to make and implement vital decisions in 2012. The debacles and mess we find ourselves today is not as a result of today issues but yester-years events. TUC chairman, Com. Peter Esele said those who do the right thing today are those who own tomorrow.

Please this newly created forum should be devoid of jokes, fun and abusive languages because at the end, there will be a drafted communiqué presented to the public.

Note: we can still participate in other topics, crack jokes and make fun to relief ourselves of stress that has occupy Nigeria. But, this forum is specifically dedicated to forge Nigeria ahead and make her overcome her challenges.
The end result shall be that for once in the history of Nigeria, we shall draft a memorandum/communique and signed by all contributors both online and offline. The document shall therefore be presented openly to our leaders and public.

I tag this forum: 1ST NIGERIANS E-CONFERENCE; CHATTING THE COURSE AND POSITIONING OF A COUNTRY IN DILEMMA.
PLEASE LET US CONTRIBUTE INTELLIGENTLY AND WISELY. IT IS TIME WE CHANNEL OUR ENERGY AND THINKING TO PRODUCTIVE DISCUSSIONS. EVERYTHING YOU SAY HERE MATTERS.
WE ARE STARTING NOW FOR THE NEXT 5DAYS A GERMANE TOPIC: INSECURITY IN NIGERIA. PLEASE DON’T DEFINE INSECURITY. IN YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING AND VASTNESS, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE SOLUTION TO NIGERIA INSECURITY? IF YOU AGREE WITH A CONTRIBUTOR, JUST INDICATE WITHOUT REPETITION. PLEASE ONLY CHOOSE MAXIMUM OF TWO BEST SOLUTIONS FROM YOUR THINK-TANK.

THE RULES OF THE e-CONFERENCE
• PLS. kindly mention your state of origin
• No sentiments/bias
• Contribution must be suggestive in nature and not abusive
• No criticism, only critic the situation and proffer solution
• All suggestions are valuable and key to the development of Nigeria
• Don’t post twice
• Don’t post for the sake of posting, reflect on the topic at hand before posting
• Don’t derail the discussion please.

At least, this shall be a core test of how disciplined and principled Nigerians are.
Thanks and God bless Nigeria
Let us keep the green-white-green flag flying.
Once again to the moderators, for God sake let this topic be at the front page for active participation.

SORRY! THIS STATEMENT IS BETTER TO UNDERSTAND THAN THE FIRST ONE ABOVE.
I still cant understand how Nigeria politicians will say something today and will do exactly the opposite tomorrow. hope you watched yesterday prelinary sessions where they screened the likes of Aganga, Ngozi Iweala, Obada etc. the senators that said b4 the screening started that they will not allow anybody to take a bow or give room for cheap questions during ministerial nominees screening now turn yesterday session to a disgust. A hollow chamber now turn to a hall of humour and shame when 4 pdp stalwarts like Bello-acting national chairman pdp, auditor general pdp, director-general campaign committee of David Mark(senate president) himself and a former pdp senator were asked to take a bow because of their high status in PDP. I could not imagine may be our politicians are still playing and toying with the future of this country despite their sweet mouth transformation promises. worst still an ANPP senator was boo and intimidated by his pdp counterpart when he asked the ag.pdp national chairman why he cant allow and give room for fresh minds to occupy public positions considering the fact he is old and have served in different public positions since 1978 when he the anpp senator was in secondary school. but alas! the senator made his point but he was intimidated.

Education / Pregnant Student, 11 Others Injured In Stampede At Unad by hipinnacle: 7:04pm On Jun 23, 2011
Twelve students of the University of Ado Ekiti, including a pregnant lady, were on Wednesday injured during a stampede at a lecture room.

The pregnant student and 11 other victims were rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti for treatment.

Apart from the pregnant student, the victims included 10 other females and one male students.

A student of UNAD told our correspondent that other victims, who suffered dislocation and other minor injuries had gone home for treatment.

The pregnant student, at the time of this report, was receiving treatment at the maternity unit of the hospital while the other students were being treated at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital.

Hundreds of students of the university besieged the hospital to know the fate of their mates who were said to be on the danger list in the hospital.

Our correspondent gathered that the students, who were mainly in 300 level at the Faculty of Education, had just finished writing a test on Research Method at the ETL lecture theatre and were rushing to submit their scripts when the incident occured.

Some of the students told our correspondent that the lecturer handling the course, Dr. Michael Omirin, had given the class 10 minutes to write the test.

The students said that over 3,000 students were in the lecture theatre, adding that the rush by the students who sat at the gallery to submit their test worsened the situation.

The Chief Medical Director of UTH, Dr. Patrick Adegun, who confirmed to journalists that 12 students were brought to the hospital, said that the students were in stable condition.

He said, “Some of them are on oxygen because their lungs had been compromised. But we are hopeful that they will all be okay very soon.

“For the pregnant student, we may induce her or we may operate her just to ensure that the mother and child are safe.”

The Acting Vice Chancellor of UNAD, Prof. Dada Adelowo, who was seen making frantic effort to ensure that the students were given adequate medical attention, said that the university would pay the medical bills.

The VC said that the students could not be treated at the university clinic because of the large number of the victims. He added that the clinic would be upgraded and more workers would be employed.

The lecturer, who handled the test, told journalists that the lecture theatre was spacious enough for the number of students who registered for the course.

Omirin said he took some of the students in his car to the school’s health centre from where they were taken to the UTH.

If Buhari understands the polity of Nigeria, he would hav won the presidential election after contesting 3 consecutive times. Wake up, Nigeria of 1970s to 80s' is totally different from Nigeria today. The disparity is obvious. If Buhari cum Idiagbon did fairly well as a former heads, it was because it was totally military era.Democratic dispensation do not give rooms for sole decision no matter how highly you are placed. My heart always bleed when i see mediocrity being celebrated in a country that is filled with everything; human, mineral, natural and physical resources.God has blessed Nigeria so much but the major challenge of this country is basically our inability to blend our resources with the human capacity we got. Gov.Fashola is always over-celebrated simply because out of many fools and corrupt idiots that we call leaders in this country, he is still d only one that is the better corrupt leader. i got 2 Lagos, most part are stil under-develop only d highland parts are fairly okay. But who do I castigate or blame. Followers, Nigerians-our thinking, mentallity and initiative is wrong. If we know our right,we will know that Governors or leaders that is repairing roads, providing basic ammenities etc. should be celebrated because they are all our right. How many times are we going to inform ourselves that we own Nigeria 2gether!Few people dominate while many people grumble over the wealth that belong to all.

Untill we reverse the way we think and celebrate idiots in this country, we shall everly remain backward.God intervene!

I don't see anything new in what Gej has done, this is not the first time d families of the deceased will b compensated with cash for human lives in this country. This is an act of impunity. Many corps' members die due to accident, armed robbery attack, flimsy ailment due to bad roads, insecurity and lack of hospitals facilities to treat ailment in most of the country. i think the govt. must wake up to their responsibilities and start treating human live precious. Even God has not for once take human life 4 granted, that is the main reason he sent his son JESUS to be crucified in redemption 4 our lives. So,why do one govt. need to wait till a person die in this country for God sake b4 they start to tell us we have money to compensate. The money should rather be spent to avoid loses of bright life by providing values instead of thrashes.

I think it is no more a news that employment opportunities are rare nowadays but they still exist, it is just for us to do our home-work properly and imbibe the genuine spirit of patience. If we understand the waiting & preparation period, we will not be in hurry to rush to every tom & dick presented to us. Juicy offers most times may end up being a sour drink, so we must beware & kp on Trusting God for a purposeful career.
