Education / Re: Nigerian Students Generally Study The Wrong Majors At Undergrad Level by hipinnacle: 12:17pm On Apr 19, 2013
the onus and responsibility is on us as individual. we need to ensure with all the tenacity and talent embedded in us to create our own part. I wouldn't agree less that Nigeria government is one woe altering destinies but nevertheless, this should make us stronger and rise to the occasion.

Also, ur course of study is not and will never be a determinant of one's progression in life. we should not get confused about it; school is just for exposure and knowledge and its not meant to shape our destinies. u are not a victim of what you studied but u are a victim of how wrongly you apply it to ur life.

This assertion of many young ones and graduates alike getting confused and molding things up on the course they study and their career life spur me to write a career tips for fresh graduates and undergraduates; you can check it out and read to ur delight; http://startandgrowrich.com/hot-career-insight/two-terrific-reasons-why-you-still-remain-jobless-and-under-employed-since-graduating-1st-series-74.html

@op...... I don't have faith in a cv that is carrying grades with no weight. If your cv reflects 1st class and you nothing to show for it, then you are empty. what am saying; it is not about 2.2 or anything greater or lesser, it is about what you got to offer...

@all..... if you know you are facing the challenge of unemployment or underemployment, I have written an article for you in www.startandgrowrich.com on how to acquire a skill suitable to course of study.

Career / Structure Of A Good Cv: How To Tweak Your Résumé To Suite Recruiters Taste. by hipinnacle: 5:21am On Apr 19, 2013
STRUCTURE OF A GOOD CV: HOW TO TWEAK YOUR RÉSUMÉ TO SUITE RECRUITERS TASTE.

You need to be creative and smart to write a well detailed and good résumé or CV to catch the interest of a prospective employer or the company HR you are targeting. Don’t be hasty to prepare and tweak a sound CV. Below, I have highlighted in brevity the vital points and notes a good CV should contained.

Essentially, your CV/Resume should include the following sections prepared in no particular order:

Personal Details
Objectives
Attributes and benefits
Achievements
Employment and history
Others (special interests, extra-curricular, special references)
education and training
Personal Details
Full Name
Date of birth
Address (Residential and postal)
Mobile telephone numbers (one is recommended)
E-mail Address
Objectives
Define your long term and your short term objectives and the short and medium-term steps that might deliver you.
A statement of personal objective should follow your personal details defining the next step or the career objectives that you seek to achieve. Describe the type of role, the type of company and why you want the opportunity in a short paragraph.
Employment History
Capture factual information about your employment history.
List all the positions held with all employers in reverse order including dates.
Make sure that all time periods are accounted for.
For positions held in the last 5 years, provide one or two sentences high-level description of your role plus three or four bullet points of key responsibilities.
For positions held from 10 to 15 years, provide one or two sentences high-level description only.
Attributes and benefits
Review your employment history and identify:
The skills and attributes learnt and utilized in the various roles
Benefits you brought to the organisation and how you delivered value(s) to the organisation. Focus on skills, qualities, benefits, and values.
Achievements
Define your achievements.
Achievements clearly demonstrate the potential values you are bringing to an employer.
Education and training
List education and trainings: Degrees, (grades if 1st Class or Second class division) institutions and dates.
Relevant training courses
Language capabilities and level of proficiency (i.e. written, spoken, comprehension)
Others (special interests)

Highlight your special interests and extra-curricular activities if these will facilitate achievement of the organization’s objectives or your personal goals. Let your hobbies be your real hobbies, don’t lie.

Lastly, you should provide names and contacts of three reputable references that will provide quality attestation on your character and/or professional standing if contacted.

That is it! If you can take your time to write your CV to the specification of the afore-mentioned, then, you don’t need any training or paid professional to do justice to that again. Likewise, ensure you tailor your CV to suite the requirement of the recruiters. Be specific and precise.

To your successful job search

Politics / Where Is The Agricultural Sector Transformation Of Gej Leading Us To? by hipinnacle: 1:26am On Apr 15, 2013
WHERE IS THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR TRANSFORMATION OF GEJ LEADING US TO?

I am kind worry and it grieves my heart how food prices are being skyrocket on a daily basis. My question is this; despite all the noises concerning the transformation agenda of Mr. President, GEJ in the agric. Sector, where are the results? When shall we begin to reap the dividends and bountifulness of the fertilizers distribution to farmers, emergence of cellular phones to agrarians, cassava explosion and massive local rice exploration, just to mention but a few?

I don’t belong to the school of thought that quickly throw punches via social media to our leaders because I believe leadership is a herculean task and unease lies the head that wears the crown.

Likewise, considering the complexity and criticism nature of Nigerians, it is quite tedious to rule but my obdurate thought is that leaders are not rulers; rather, they are positioned to be change agents.

It is quite amazing how series of debacles and inflammation have beclouded our intuition and imagination in this country. Where are the pressure groups? Where are the standardized emancipation groups? Why have they gone silent hastily and things are becoming rotten day after day?

UNPRECEDENTED HIKE IN FOOD PRICES:

My curiosity emanated most especially some days ago when I was told a congo (in a relative term; that plastic rubber use in the south-west for food stuff measurement) of garri is being sold for #170 and #180 depending on your location.
To me, that is fairer, but is it not crazy for the price of indomie noodles to have jumped from #50 to #70 (the medium size) and larger size now #110. Okay! It still doesn’t matter. You can’t get a grounded pepper tied in a tiny nylon for #5 again; it is between #10 and #20.

Well, all these might be inconsequential now. But my question is where is the present day leading us to? Or better still, in which direction are we heading?

Now, in Ondo State for instance, it looks as if there is no sitting government. Everything looks stand still. Is it not better for us as a nation that we should be driving ourselves and be void of any form of leadership?

Nobody wants to farm again because it is no more lucrative. The oil boom had caused a lot of damages to the society. It has ingratiated craziness, mental degradation and aloofness. The oil is booming but it is driving us into vaguer situation and poverty.

God has provided everything we for us to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth, it now left for to consciously protect the resources given to us by the Creator. I rest my case ladies and gentlemen!

MY SOLUTION IS FOR US AS A COMMONER TO FORM A SYNERGY AND DEMAND FOR OUR BIRTHRIGHT.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA…….

hey guys,i must confess u are doing a great job here.i am utmost inspired by u guys simplicity of explaining things.More power to ur elbow.

pls.can u guys put me thru:

1. I want to order for plastic petri dish @ aliexpress but i was shocked to discover that d price per piece is not less than $i.8/piece.Even some is $2.2/piece excluding shipping whereas 1pack(which contains 20pieces) is sold @ 550 naira here in nigeria.

2. likewise, i want 2 order a4 paper 4 printing but d prices seem to be higher than d nigeria price. Or is that der are some products(which are no go area) that more expensive dan d ones in Nigeria.

3. If a product is carrying free shipping from d seller, does that mean it is only the product price i will pay for and the seller will it to me free.

guys,i await ur quick response.Kudos & thanks.

Family / D Story Of A Couple:too Painful To Be True by hipinnacle: 11:52pm On Sep 02, 2012
When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly.

She didn't se...em to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why?

I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn't love her anymore. I just pitied her! With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company.

She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.

The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn't have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again.

In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month's time and she didn't want to disrupt him with our broken marriage.

This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day.

She requested that every day for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.I told Jane about my wife's divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully.

My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outsidethe door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn't tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.

She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily. Suddenly it hit me... she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.

Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it's time to carry mom out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn't noticed that our life lacked intimacy.

I drove to office.... jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind...I walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore.

She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart.

Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.

At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart. That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up stairs, only to find my wife in the bed - dead.

My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push thru with the divorce.-- At least, in the eyes of our son--- I'm a loving husband....

The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!

If you don't share this, nothing will happen to you.If you do, you just might save a marriage

one thing i noticed here on NL about dis light issue is dat only minority is still enjoying light in Nigeria. comment 4rm Benin,Lagos,PHC.is the commonest here while few people 4rm kaduna, owerri & asaba shared their view. i think by the views here most part of lagos & benin are enjoying light while PHC is not encouraging.

General assessment: most states in Nigeria are still facing light problem, maybe like 30 states.it might not really b because GEJ is not working but maybe distribution or transformer problem or phcn is not even encouraging d stability. In Akure, Ondo State light is quite stable but very poor current, sometimes it is better not 2 av light. well as some people said, kudos 2 Gej while i will also wait 4 dry season 2 thank Gej more as many suggested. WE SHALL SURELY GET THERE I BELIEVE.IT TAKES A GRADUAL PROCESS WITH SINCERITY.

Politics / Re: Reuben Abati: The Jonathan They Dont Know by hipinnacle: 9:03pm On Aug 26, 2012
I think Nigerians should b more matured and logical than this in reasoning; as much as I fell in love wt the beautiful laced write-up of Reuben Abati, I think most of what he wrote is unjustifiable. A leader should not b afraid of criticism or attack maybe logical or destructive, more attacks were launched on past great leaders including our Lord Jesus Christ (He was accused of doing good things) but those infringements don’t deterred them from promoting values and integrity. It can never b possible that 167million people will think and speak the same way. Some of his comments were uncalled for like having more women in his cabinet, trying to justify that his master is not drinking alcohol or the type of food he eats. These justifications are unnecessary. What an average, I don’t mean the acclaimed super-rich is employment, constant power, food security and the enabling environment to go about doing pushing the right things.
Also, the unity of Nigeria is more from God and not man.

My take is that the little I have seen about Jonathan government is that he is trying to fix the wanton problems of Nigeria and you can’t do that in just 2years. It takes time but more to that he should go beyond being good or gentle and put more power & passion to his policies (if one is existing). Abati should stop taking things with emotion, Jonathan is our president and his president, so don’t take it personal.

I for one have not seen anything sustainable in what Jonathan is doing; he is just scratching solution on the surface. It is possible u can b working but no productivity. He should lay down policies that will curb corruption, government waste so that when he leaves, we will continue to enjoy good Nigeria. Anyway God helps him.

Hey guys,
Looking @ some comments here; asking what the graduates absorbed into this scheme is going to do after the 1 year prog. I will say that life gives you opportunities, it is now left 4 u 2 maximize the chance given to u. if you read the recruitment url. Very well, u will note that the federal govt. said it will b an opportunity for d employers 2 absorb you into their workforce after the programme because they hav trained u but if you don’t put ur best into it, then u are on the street again. That is why it is different from d nysc stuff. And then your skill will b properly honed to compete favourably with the office and field experiences needed by the employers.
To guys demanding praise 4 GEJ, I will tell u don’t b too over-zealous, let us wait 4 d outcome first. But I think d initiative is better than govt. not doing anything 2 salvage d problem of unemployment. My take pls.
Take it serious and after a year, d necessary skill you need 2 set urself up, u might get it. Everything is not capital. D right skill wt God’s favour will set one apart 4rm crowd.

I THINK THIS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE 4 NIGERIANS TO VIEW THAT THEIR REPS. ARE DOING WELL. BETTER TO BE LATE THAN NEVER. THEY HAV EVEN THREATEN THE PRESIDENT WITH IMPEACHMENT WHICH IS GOOD DEVELOPMENT.

PLS. THIS IMPORTANT TOPIC SHOULD BE MOVED TO THE FRONT PAGE.
Politics / The Federal Govt. Has Failed-says House Of Rep. by hipinnacle: 12:43pm On Jul 19, 2012
I THINK TODAY HOUSE PLENARY STILL GOING ON RIGHT NOW LIVE IS QUITE INTERESTING. THE MEMBERS ARE COMBINING THEIR VOICES TO CONDEMN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND MINISTER OF FINANCE FOR TELLING NIGERIANS THAT WITHOUT DEREGULATION NIGERIA ECONOMY WILL COLLAPSE. THE HOUSE HAS DEBUNK THE SILLY PROCLAMATION SAYING THE GOVERNMENT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO FUND HER BUDGET AND IS BUOYANT ENOUGH, SO, NO NEED TO BORROW MONEY TO FUND HER DEFICIT. THE HOUSE HAS THEN DECIDED TO TAKE AN ONUS ON THEMSELVES TO FIGHT THOSE STEALING OUR MONEY BY NOT IMPLEMENTING THE BUDGET WHOLE.
I THINK THIS IS GOOD DEVELOPMENT FROM THE 7TH HOUSE.
