Congrats! I wish to know more bout PNP cos I have quite a number of people around me whose ages have drastically reduced their ITA chances. psalmizt: I will definitely come here to give my PPR story. But for now my story is that of nomination and successful AOR. I believe when we thank God for little mercies, we invariably invoke greater successes. I have been accused of writing too much English in times past so I'll just be brief pending |

Study and write ur IELTS asap while trying to decide on other ways to boost ur CRS score. Your 8777 is an assumption. What if you score higher? What if ITA cut off reduces before the September IT exam? When I say study for IELTS, I mean give it your best shot. Just be in the pool and then look for other means to boost your score. As per if you can pass the exam without prior IT knowledge, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE with determination. PS: if there are other exams asides BCS, take it oh. Forget my motivational speech. All the best. Ladywinterfell: Happy Sunday guys. . . I've been dedicating enough time to read this thread from part 1 and i understand so many things now. My crs score is 429 (using 8,7,7,7 in ielts) but once I clock 30 this November it will drop to 424. . So I think the next step is to get another certificate to boost my crs score while preparing for ielts at the same time . I read this September is next Bcs in IT exam. . I have just one question please, with no prior knowledge in IT, can I sit for the exam in September. I don't mind coaching everyday from now till September. (I have more than enough time to study) |

Adabekee005: Good day all
I've been a silent reader (I actually just figured out how to post on nairaland. I hope I'm doing this right)
So I received my first Copr on the 10th and submitted my passport to vfs Abuja last week Thursday.
- Apart from the letter from FRSC, what else do I need to get before leaving naija? - Can I start applying for jobs now? - My medicals will expire on the 1st of August, do you have any idea how long it takes to get the final COPR? - Lastly, please can anyone add me to a beneficial whatsapp group for those preparing to land and those already in Canada?
Thanks and God bless. Congrats! 1. Original copies of your documents, make sure u have internet banking sorted for all ur accts, close the ones that you don’t need anymore, cancel subscriptions, if you have aged dependents, sort out their care, few clothes for the cold weather, ur beloved naija food, 2. Yes, depends on how soon u want to land as well. 3. E bad as e bad, 15 days. 4. Don’t know any WhatsApp grp but there’s a living in Canada as an immigrant group on nairaland. You can join nd read the thread. All the best. |

AnnOfili: Please could anyone assist with a response to this:
Is it possible to add my teenage cousin as a dependant or my dependent child to my profile. His mom wants his name to just go in as my child or dependant while he finishes secondary school by next year and then joins later when I'm settled. I'm a single applicant and pre ITA.
Is there anyone who has been able to add a non-biological child to their application successfully? Yes, you can include your cousin by adopting him. It’s better done if you are pre-ITA. However, based on adoption date, yours and his age etc, it may raise a flag and lead to some questions such as why did you adopt him. Are his parents dead? Incapable of taking care of him? Also remember that there are background checks done. Weigh your options and make a wise choice. All the best. |

johnnybravo1990: Be also there to advise her when her marriage ends in divorce o. Let’s call a spade a spade. Abeg, forget that, ‘you can survive in Canada as a single mother’. She may go ahead with the Express Entry process for now, but finally, going to Canada without her husband’s approval and company is simply asking for a divorce. Who in Canada will want to marry a single mother with 3 kids when their father is still alive? Loneliness is real o! There is a kind of loneliness that your kids cannot solve, and that only a partner can quench. So it is a simple but difficult choice — Canada/divorce or continued marriage/love. You must point this to her when you advice: ‘so when your PR comes, will you want to risk your marriage because of Canada if your husband still refuses to agree to only you going?’
Even though I am also in the race to land in Canada, I will always reiterate that Canada is not everything; everything in this life is vanity. In some situations, one needs to weigh their options properly before they decide any action, and they need to be prepared to face the consequences. Guess you missed the part where I said ‘carry your husband along every step of the way. Let him know you can’t do anything without his permission’ My suggestion is based on the assumption that when Oga sees ITA/BIL/PPR, he will have a change of mind. It’s better to have ur PPR and say you are not going than to wonder ‘what if’. From most experiences shared, na fear of the unknown abeg. |

Rence22: My fellow nairalanders. I appreciate your help so far despite the fact that I haven't really gone too far. I am just at the ECA stage and registered for ielts next month. It's with a very great sadness that I might have to pull out of this canny dream. Really sad for me. hubby has seriously been reluctant. Says he loves his Naija and God has not instructed him to leave Nigeria and until he receives his heavenly dream from God, he is not going anywhere. He actually said if I want to go badly, I should. But here's the problem, with 3 kids ages 5 3, and 1.5 years old. How do I cope with daycare, job search, mobility, picking up from schools, groceries, and upkeep alone in Canada. To worsen it, he isn't supporting financially. I even offered and begged to have him sit for ielts and his eca with my monthly pay he reluctantly said yes but I thought, one can only force a horse to the river but not to drink. Without his help how will I survive with 3 beautiful kids alone in Canada. He is not even batting an eye concerning the benefits. He's a speedy driver, says cars are meant for speed how will such a person cope with Canadian traffic rules. These and some little others have just weakened me especially my children and the highest I can even leave them is a week. We are that close that they have never gone to bed without my hug and kisses. I dont have any family over there to help with. Good night. Hmm! Pull out fire! If I hear say you pull out. Babygirl, you will laugh last. But you have to summon up some courage. Shey you are a believer abi? Now is the time for you to start exercising your faith. Oya, do as I say. Untie your wrapper, shake it well to remove any fear, sadness or hopelessness. Now tie it back, knot it well cos the journey isn’t for the faint hearted. 1. Follow all the steps below with prayer and faith. 2. Joyfully thank your husband for saying you should go ahead with the application. Tell him that ‘you can not do anything without his permission’. 3. Stop trying to persuade him to write the exam. 4. Apply as unaccompanied. I hope ur score alone is enough. You can tell him spousal application takes 6 months or just go silent on the unaccompanied. Yorubas will say ‘Ibukun ni fun omo na to fi ogbon shey. 5. Hopefully you get ITA. 6. Start talking to everyone you know bout POF. You are not spending it, make them just help you. Now you see this stage ehn, you will almost lose hope. But I’m trusting God on your behalf. Ask your hubby for POF too. Remember to carry him along every step of the way. 7. Submit your application. 8. About how you will cope? My dear, na God oh. God forbid anything happens to your husband’s enemy, you no go cope? (in Nigeria for that matter). 9. Make we bet, he will come round! When he no be enemy of progress? 10. Pls don’t fight him whether he helps or not. The road is tough oh, I kid you not. Cos as you dey pay for medical from ur pocket and he’s there at Children’s practice looking like ‘wetin be my own?’ You fit wan nack stethoscope for him head. But thou shall not. Patience and prayer wins the race. All the best. I look forward to your PPR story. Feel free to send me a mail anytime you need encouragement. |

Adding spouse post AOR... not so sure. Try to help your spouse do his/her ECA then continue your EE process as unaccompanied. Let him/her know post ITA that the ‘soup don almost don oh’. If he’s interested, quickly register for IELTS and pray that his score will just enough. If not, pls go ahead. He’ll come around... I pray. |

kenniton: Good day to you all, I applied for the normal Canada visa, I got a mail the next day that my profile was review and impress by my work experience as Tax officer and my college degree, that am qualified for Federal skilled workers class, And I should commence other process. But my fear is I have HND in computer science but I have worked with State internal revenue as a Tax officer. Please do you think i can fit in with such competitive pool? Also the payments in both first and second stage of (995 USD) is also worrisome. Just need your kind advice thanks... Hi. Seems like it’s an agency or scammer. Either way, as a HND holder, you do not need an agent. Here are the steps: 1. Use the crs link to calculate your score based on ur current information. Ps: choose 2 or more certificates in the education section since you’ve got 2 ND certs. 2. Play around with the Ietls score to see what will give you a score of above 450 3. You’ll need to evaluate your HND cert thru WES. Start the process before the IELTS exam. It takes about 2 months no less. 4. Register for IELTS exam, don’t rush it since your cert evaluation won’t be ready till another 8 weeks or 12 sef. Study wellllllll and harddd. 5. Once your evaluation and IELTS are ready, jump into the pool. 6. There are many more e.g POF, Waec evaluation for wes etc. 7. Go to thread 1, read each link and pages. Keep reading. Trust me when I say every question you may have has bn answered somewhere. 8. Pulling you ears. Don’t pay any agent. It’s a long and expensive road. You will need the money. Be your own agent and read. All the best. |

AjalaDtraveller: Good day everyone. I am thinking of starting the Canadian PR process. I tried to read the thread but it's a whole lot. I don't know where to start from. Please can someone tell me if I stand a chance to even start the process? I am in my thirties. I have an HND in Mechanical engineering. I have never worked as an engineer. But I was into the soft side of property management for about 8years as a secretary. What must I do to be suitable to start the process. I presume I must have about 8,000 Canadian dollars? That is not an issue for me. Please kindly help me with info. Thanks in advance Hi. It’s a point based system. Points are allocated based on certain criteria. You can calculate your CRS score using this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.aspThen head over to https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled#38373178 That’s the link to part 1. Pls don’t read 2 pages and decide that you do not understand it. Endeavor to read every page up to at least part 3. You will learn from questions and answers provided. You will get insight on the best way to proceed with your application. I wish you patience, understanding and good luck. All the best. |

How do I explain this? See ehn, it helps you to know the several available options at each stage and the result from each option. For example, if you check the last 10pages on this thread, you’ll notice the frequent NOC discussions. This is as a result of learning from someone else’s experience. Justsolo: Thanks for your input. I will definitely fill the PR application truthfully. There's no sense in looking over one's shoulder forever.
But the real question is, could they still charge me for misrepresentation from previous TRV, even though I will be filling my PR truthfully and there won't be any misrepresentation in it? Especially in this case that I will be the one mentioning the Denied Entry myself, not like They discover on their own.
I've checked and checked over the Internet but the closest to this situation that I found was from the CIC Enforcement Manual (ENF Manual 2 s 9.3) gotten from the link below; http://overseastudent.ca/migratetocanada/IMMGuide/CICManual/enf/enf02-eng.pdf Section 9.7 on Page 33.
"An application for a visa abroad, or for entry into Canada at a port of entry may be denied based on a misrepresentation made in connection with the current application or examination only, unless the person was previously the subject of a refusal for misrepresentation and the resulting two-year inadmissibility period has not elapsed".
The emphasis here is on the "current" application. This document may be outdated though.
I've been advised to consult an experienced immigration lawyer but I'm thinking I can just go ahead and apply on my own. Moreover, immigration lawyers are expensive and POF self never complete.
Seniors, what do you think please? I’d say come clean with the denied entry. Write a detailed LOE for the Ghana, UK and Canadian visa applications. Very detailed and easy to comprehend LOE. You can use bullet points cos if the letter is too long, the officer may not read all and miss out on some important info. All the best. |
