MaxInDHouse:Are you yourself competent to silence them intelligently? And there's nothing unique about Jehovahs witnesses. You guys are just an aberration of the Christian faith. Paul referred to you guys when he said that in the later days believer will be drawn away by deceiving spirits and will start to believe doctrines of Demons. Read the Bible and let it speak to you. Stop believing everything that your leaders tell you. |
MaxInDHouse:LOL. |
Aboks:That's exactly what I wrote. They don't believe in an eternal punishment. They believe that the unbelievers will be annihilated on the final day after they are resurrected. Read again before you rush to comment. |
When Jesus told His disciples to beware of the leaven of the pharisees he eas telling them to beware of the doctrine of the pharisees. Matthew 16:6-12. Today i would like to warn you about certain doctrines of Jehovah's witnesses that are not scriptural. Jehovah's Witnesses is a Christian denomination with beliefs distinct from mainstream Christianity. Jehovah's Witnesses are directed by the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses which establishes all doctrines based on its interpretations of the Bible. They prefer to use their own Bible translation, the New World Translation. The New World Translation of the Bible is Jehovah's Witnesses own translation, no other religious group uses this Bible and Jehovah's Witnesses make very little use of other Bibles. Various Bible scholars, including Bruce M. Metzger and MacLean Gilmour, have said that while scholarship is evident in New World Translation, its rendering of certain texts is inaccurate and biased in favor of Witness practices and doctrines. Critics of the group such as Edmund C. Gruss, and Christian writers such as Ray C. Stedman, Walter Martin, Norman Klann, and Anthony Hoekema state that the New World Translation exhibits scholastic dishonesty. Most criticism of the New World Translation relates to its rendering of the New Testament, particularly regarding the introduction of the name Jehovah and in passages related to the Trinity doctrine. The organization has received criticism regarding biblical translation, doctrines, and alleged coercion of its members. The Watch Tower Society has made various unfulfilled predictions about major biblical events such as Christ's Second Coming, the advent of God's Kingdom, and Armageddon. Jehovah's Witnesses have received criticism from mainstream Christianity, members of the medical community, former members and commentators regarding their beliefs and practices. The movement has been accused of doctrinal inconsistency and reversals, failed predictions, mistranslation of the Bible, harsh treatment of former members and autocratic and coercive leadership. Criticism has also focused on their rejection of blood transfusions, particularly in life-threatening medical situations, and failing to report cases of sexual abuse to the authorities. Many of the claims are denied by Jehovah's Witnesses and some have also been disputed by courts and religious scholars. Jehovah's Witnesses focus on God the Father, so their name is taken from the Tetragrammaton, written as YHWH or JHVH and articulated either as Yahweh or Jehovah. Below are some of the false doctrines they peddle: 1. They deny the trinity. The Watch Tower says Jesus is a created being and the Holy Spirit is an impersonal force and not a person. This is not what the scriptures teach. Jesus is God and was present with God at creation (Gen 1:1-2, Gen 1:26, John 1:1-2). He is the creator of the universe (John 1:3), (Col 1:16). The Holy Spirit is God also. Even the early Christians believed so. When ananias and sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit Peter told them that they had not lied to men but to God (Act 5:3-4). The Holy Spirit was even present at the beginning of creation (Gen 1:2). The Trinity is revealed from the very beginning of Scripture (Gen 1:26). When God said us who was He referring to? Obviously Jesus and The Holy Spirit. One portion of Scripture that clearly identifies each member of the Trinity separately is (Mat 3:16-17). Jesus was coming out of the water after being baptized, The Holy Spirit was coming upon Him, and the Father spoke. Another portion of scripture that distinctly identifies all the members of the Trinity and their functions in the body is (1Co 12:4-6). 2. They deny the deity of Christ. This is clearly mapped out in scripture. People worshiped Jesus severally (Matt 2:11, Mat 8:2, Matt 14:33, Matt 15:25, Matt 28:9, Matt 28:17, Mark 5:6) and he never rejected worship and worship belongs to God and God alone (Mat 4:10) and the apostles, when they were worshiped rejected worship (Act 10:25-26, Act 14:11-15). Even Jesus Himself claimed God status (John 8:58). The Watch Tower teaches that Jesus was created “just as angels were spirit beings created by God…. The fact is that Jesus is not God and never claimed to be”. 3. The person-hood and deity of the Holy Spirit. Jehovah’s Witnesses liken the “holy spirit” to electricity – an impersonal, powerful, unseen force under the sovereign control of Jehovah. The Bible, however, clearly establishes the deity of the Holy Spirit as the third person of the triune Godhead. The Bible uses the words “Holy Spirit” and “God” interchangeably (Act 5:3-4). Jesus calls the Spirit “another Counselor,” (John 14:16) with the Greek word 'allos' meaning “another of the same kind.” The Holy Spirit is a person and not a force. The scripture says that the Holy Spirit distributes spiritual gifts to each believer as He Wills. A force doesn't have a will does it? No. Only a person has a will and that is what the Holy Spirit is, a person. 4. Consciousness of the soul after death. The Watch Tower teaches “soul sleep” – that is, the soul rests in the grave with the body until the resurrection. JWs deny that people possess immortal souls. This is contrary to what the scripture teaches. We are spirits who have souls and live in bodies (1 Thess 5:23). The body dies when the human spirit leaves it and goes to its eternal home (James 2:26). Jesus told the thief hanging alongside him, 'Today you will be with me in paradise'. (Luke 23:42-43). For further information on this point please visit my previous post where i explain this in more detail https://www.nairaland.com/6711638/very-false-christian-belief-afterlife. 5. They deny everlasting punishment for unbelievers in hell and Heaven as the destination for all believers. Jehovah’s Witnesses teach the annihilation of the wicked in hell. However, the Bible says hell is a place of everlasting conscious existence, where unbelievers are forever separated from God (Luke 16:18-31), (Mat 13:24-30). John the baptist gives a parable in which he describes heaven and hell in (Mat 3:12). The winnowing fan in this context refers to judgement, the threshing floor is the earth, the wheat who are gathered into His barn are the believers and the chaff that will be burned up with unquenchable fire are the unbelievers. Heb 9:27 teaches that after a man dies he is immediately judged and sentenced to where he will be for eternity (heaven or hell). The Watch Tower teaches two classes of redeemed people: the “little flock” of 144,000 in heaven, and the “other sheep” who, if worthy, abide forever on a restored earth. The Bible teaches that all believers have God’s promise of a home in heaven (John 14:2-3, 2 Cor 5:1-8, Phil 1:21-24) . We go there instantly upon physical death. Now you know the truth and will be able to identify heresy when it is presented to you. PLEASE, PLEASE AND PLEASE BEWARE OF THE Doctrines of Jehovah's Witnesses are established by the Governing Body. The denomination does not tolerate dissent over doctrines and practices. Members who openly disagree with the group's teachings are expelled and shunned. Witness publications strongly discourage followers from questioning doctrine and counsel received from the Governing Body, reasoning that it is to be trusted as part of "God's organization". It also warns members to "avoid independent thinking", claiming such thinking "was introduced by Satan the Devil" and would "cause division". Those who openly disagree with official teachings are condemned as "apostates" who are "mentally diseased". BEWARE OF THE

Near1:Jesus did exist. He indeed was crucified on a cross. This is a historical fact. |
LordReed:lol. could you please share this evidence with me? |
LordReed:The ones taught by the Holy Bible |
MightySparrow:Ignore this guy he's a Jehovahs witness. They don't seek to understand the Bible for themselves they only believe whatever the watchtower society tells them to believe and they are taught not to question them. You can Google about Jehovahs witnesses for confirmation. |
Anas09:Omo don't waste words on him. Let him continue in his deception. He takes one small portion of scripture and makes a doctrine out of it but ignores the vast majority of scripture that is against his doctrine. |
Humanoid01:Don't bother with this guy. He doesn't understand the Bible. |
Near1:That's the thing. My belief in God is not based on nothing. It's based on facts. |
HellVictorinho:What are you saying? We all are a product of our choices. Everybody chooses their beliefs. You can say however that our nationality, parents, siblings, skin color, name, etc. Are not in our power to choose. |
FreeIgboho:Guy you're just confused. Are you joking? Or are you seriously spewing this craziness? |
Near1:God is the all-powerful, all-knowing being who created the universe as we know it. He created man and all other creatures on this planet. |
LordReed:Like I said your biased. It is hard for any atheist or Christian to have a meaningful conversation cuz both are sold out to their beliefs. I can't believe your claims cuz I'm biased to the spiritual and you can't believe my claims cuz you're biased to the natural. By the way.. Going by the topic of the thread.. Give me logical reasons as to why I should be an atheist. |
Near1:What would a logical argument for God sound like to you. Please explain. What do you mean by a logical argument for God. |
LordReed:It's like you didn't read what I posted. I said while I was praying... In the process of my praying she started to feel her flow come... That's no coincidence na.. Its obviously supernatural. Just say you're biased. And have decided to see things from a nuturalistic/humanistic viewpoint and have disregarded the very thought of anything being spiritual. |
LordReed:Dude you can't convince me otherwise. I know somebody touched me that day. Whether you believe it or not doesn't change the fact. Okay leave that experience and consider this one. I have prayed for a girl having menstrual flow issues and while I was praying for her, according to what she told me later on, she started to feel her period come, and when she got to her hostel her period came. How do you explain that? |
Near1:Why do you say so? |
LordReed:Why shouldn't you arrive at such a conclusion? Have you ever seen any building that built itself? Or any car that built itself? Ever since the purported big bang that caused creation there never has been another. Why is that? Ever since the theorized evolution by natural selection there never has been any further evolution. Why is that? But ever since the original creation we still see creation in action till today! |
LordReed:The theory of evolution is just as it says... A THEORY. It has never been proven and can never be proven. Tell me something. If humans evolved from apes then why do apes still exist? Also if humans evolved from apes why haven't we evolved further? I sure would like to evolve from the way I currently am to something more impressive. Did you know that in the Charles Darwin book that popularized the theory of evolution he spends the closing chapters of the book doubting his own theory? Even Charles Darwin didn't postulate the theory of evolution as a fact but just as a theory. Nobody has ever witnessed evolution and ever will. |
LordReed:LOL. There are four times in my life that i have been scared to death. The first time was when I broke my head as a kid and was bleeding profusely. I was really scared that day and thought I was going to die. The second time was when I almost drowned in a swimming pool as a kid. The third time was when a senior in my boarding school punched my nose and I began to bleed profusely from my nose. The fourth time was that day when an invisible person rubbed my shoulder (in a dark room which makes it even more scary). Have you ever been scared... Like really scared? Tell me have you forgotten the experience? Scary experiences are truly hard to forget. I surely can't recall everything I eat but I can recall things that stand out... Like foods that made me vomit or caused me severe stomach pain. This experience I'm talking about has never before happened to me and never again happened to me. You atheists have an anti-supernatural bias and are not willing to accept the fact that there are things which exist that you simply don't know, or haven't experienced. But just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean it is false. |
LordReed:and what of all the other things that have creators? what do you have to say about them? |
LordReed:so how do you explain human existence? please don't even mention evolution. |
LordReed:things like what? |
LordReed:A HAND touched me. I believe i know what a hand touch feels like. Plus it had never happened to me before prior to that time and has never since happened to me again since then. |
FreeIgboho:i can prove it is not a dream because i know i am not dreaming. |
FreeIgboho:lol..abi |
FreeIgboho:But it isn't. |
Workch:Because I exposed the senselessness of your belief in evolution. Now you've turned everything to a big joke as a means to evade my questions. |
Workch:Lol.. Stop playing na. |
Workch:Okay lemme question you. Since I have made you disbelieve in evolution (lol) How, then, do you explain human existence? |
