That's not what I'm saying. I was talking to Max who says the rest of us who go to church are not Christians. According to him, only Jehovah Witnesses are the true worshippers of God.

I'm trying to let him know, that we may all have different denominations, but we are reading the same Bible and have the same faith in one God.

It doesn't matter what church we attend, we should agree as Christians. The fight that one church is better than the other, is like a house fighting against itself. P.S my origin is Anglican.

Jesus is different from any human.
He was a spirit being in heaven before God transformed his life into the womb of a young Jewish virgin. So Jesus perfectly knows that the energy (spirit) to restore him back to life lies in the hands of God! Psalms 146:4; Ecclesiastes 12:7

What do you have to say about Stephen?

In acts 7:59 he said, Lord Jesus receive my spirit.

Implying that he believed his spirit would go to be with Jesus after he died according to 2 Cor 5:8.

Will you also say that Stephen didn't have a Spirit and he was just flesh and blood?

Paul is talking about the born again Christians. Just as Jesus died in the flesh and was resurrected as a spirit {1Corinthians 15:44} so the born again Christians were looking forward to their reunion with Christ Jesus in heaven where flesh and blood (body) can't go. That's why Jesus could say those going there will no longer get married because it's the body that determines our gender and there they will become like angels (spirits) {Luke 20:35-36} that's what Paul is reminding his fellow born again brothers. Their journey there is not what eyes can SEE! 2Corinthians 5:7

What do you have to say about luke 23 vs 46. Where Jesus said, father into your hands i commit my spirit?

if you believe that Jesus was born a man, and had a spirit, then this is proof indeed that men have spirits.

Or do you not believe that Jesus was born as a man?

The body without the spirit (energy or breath of life) is dead! That's what God breath into Adam's nostril {Genesis 2:7} and at death the spirit (energy) lies in hands of God! Psalms 146:4; Ecclesiastes 12:7
That's the PRACTICAL APPLICATION of what you're quoting.

What of 2 Cor 5 vs 8. where paul says to be absent from the body (dead) is to be present with the Lord (n heaven). Wht is your interpretation of it?

And Phil 1 vs 23 where paul talks about having a desire to depart (die) and be with Christ (in heaven) which is far better.

This doesn't support that humans have spirits because Paul continue by saying "be preserved blameless"
Now ask yourself if what Paul meant is that a man is composed of a SPIRIT, a SOUL and a BODY which of the three is he admonishing them to be preserved BLAMELESS?

Okay. What about James 2 vs 26. Where he says he body wihout he spirit is dead?

And luke 8 vs 55. Where it says her spirit returned and she rose up. Implying that she died when her spirit left her body and became alive again when it returned?

Jesus Christ did not teach that people go to heaven or hell when they die. Instead, in Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46, Jesus Christ taught that it is only after He returns, and has judged the works of men, that they will then be ushered either into Heaven or Hell, not before.

Those who die in Jesus Christ are instead asleep in their graves, waiting for Jesus Christ's return- John 5 vs 19 - 29

What of 2 Cor 5:8 which teaches that when a Christian dies they immediately go to heaven?

Atheists in the house I invite you all to give me logical and compelling reasons as to why atheism is the correct worldview.

Maximus, do you not know that when the scripture says that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), it also made distinction between physical death and spiritual death, even though you can't see it? You may consider washing your eyes with pure water so that you can see clearly.

So therefore, there's nothing like death, it's an illusion. The deads are alive because they are spirits; immortals.

God told Adam that he would die the very day he ate the fruit. But when he ate the fruit he didn't die physically.

But that doesn't mean that God lied. Adam did die... Spiritually.

And the consequence of that was his eventual physical death.

In 2 Corinthians 5 vs 1 - 9,, the writer seems to be speaking of a yearning to be clothed with what he calls his heavenly home so that this body that dies will instead be covered with eternal life. He has confidence in his belief and yearns to be away from his body and be at home with his Lord.

As for 2 Corinthians 5 vs 11 - 21, the writer speaks of how those who are in Jesus Christ (recall his audience are his fellow Jewish believers) receive a new lease on life. No longer are their sins from following of the Old way held against them. Instead they recieve a new way from God to follow. The passage gones on to explain how their old sins are taken away and they no longer have to pay for it...



P.S. Never pick a verse out of context to make it say instead what you want it to say.
