I can see that you're just coming in but you are yet to familiarize with my earlier postings. In all my posts, I have condemned every type of uncivilized unmodern beliefs and justice in every religion and tribe, not sparing Christian or Hindu or Muslim or any other religion or even tribe. You were probably reading the posts looking for only 2 words, "Islam" and "Muslim", which does no justice to this thread.

But let me conclude the reply to your insinuations by saying that only a novice would believe you that the threat of Russia in Ukraine to world peace beats that of Islamists all over the world. Russia has no business in Ukraine, but mere expansionism, which is condemnable. But then, even if there is a war there in Ukraine and even if nuclear weapons are deployed in that threatening war, Islamic caliphates declared in Middle East and Arabia plus West African hub of power is a more destabilizing force that is sure to spread all over the world if unchecked. Have you seen how these guys devilishly cut off human heads as if they are chicken? Is there any civilization in that? Have you ever heard of the Islamic prophecies of the Madhi and the Dijjal? Even prophets of Islam admit that these events are most deadly for our world and it does appear we're nearing such happenings with the rise of Takfiri Islam. Check on that, my Friend and let's muse over it.

"Bursting the Bonds of Civilization

Below is Rembrandt Clancy’s translation of an excellent essay by Leon de Winter that was originally published by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The Barbarism of the Jihadists: In the Name of the Sword

Argumentation is pointless: The jihadists of the “Islamic State” eliminate all limitations which we have internalised in the course of the civilisational process. Combat allows them to give in completely to their instincts.

by Leon de Winter

Translation: Rembrandt Clancy

20 August 2014

Andrei Tarkovsky’s “Andrei Rublev” is among the masterpieces of cinema. It tells the true life story of an inspired icon painter and priest. The film is set against the background of 15th century Russia. In one scene, Tartars raid the city of Vladimir. They slaughter whomever crosses their path: they mutilate, rape, steal. Tarkovsky shows masterfully the feeling with which these Asiatic hordes apply their procedure — they kill with great abandon.

In the close-ups of the murderers, we look in horror at the ardent excitement in their faces. These men, having discarded all civilising inhibitions, can yield to the most primitive of their urges and impulses. They have achieved the ultimate liberation. Because they are completely unfeeling and because they reduce other men to objects of lust and subjugation, they have reached the zenith of their sexual potency and are able to act quite openly like beasts.

The current television images and the jihad videos on YouTube remind me of this scene, one of the most arresting in the history of cinema. If we ask ourselves how the Bedouin of the Arabian Peninsula in the seventh century or the Mongols in the thirteenth century conquered and plundered the world — the “Islamic state” (IS) shows us how they proceeded. They were driven by the wild desire to destroy and conquer everything which fell to their inclination.

The liberating Jihad

The regular armies of modern times must discipline the destructive energies of young men and direct them into organised paths. The provisions of the laws of war are to be observed; one must not engage in brutal behaviour unnecessarily, and commanders must be aware of the proportionality of means and avoid collateral damage. None of these things are of any concern to the fighters of the “Islamic State”. By committing themselves to jihad, they throw off the bonds of civilized behaviour. We facing the gratified visage of naked savagery.

Whoever is possessed by jihad has exceptional power. In an orgiastic fever he can rape, kill and plunder. Owing to the brainwashing which he encountered, he knows that this course of action is legitimised by his religion. And when he dies, he will go straight to heaven, where seventy-two virgins are waiting to attend upon him for all eternity. The IS fighters are an incarnation of everything that was channelled [kanalisiert] in the course of becoming civilised; namely, the sexual and destructive energies of young men. Jihad, as we have come to see, can turn this process around, and the energies and urges which young men must suppress in a civilised society are given a new focus.

In the Western world of today every form of aggression is directly sanctioned as early as kindergarten. Our sons are constrained to grow up as placid girls and are allowed to act out their (sexual) energy only in sport and with aggressive computer games, during which they kill dozens of virtual enemies day after day. Jihad liberates young men from these restrictions, which is precisely why it is so appealing to young men even in the West.

No Respect for the Dignity of Others

Instead of sitting in front of the screen, they can live out their fantasies in real life, in real time, in a real theatre of war and under the banner of a divine mandate. Instead of sublimating the untrammelled reign of everything that is brutish — of everything that permits them to conquer, to kill, to destroy and to rape — jihad makes it possible for the believer to abandon himself completely to his ecstasy. The so-called unbeliever is only an object with which the jihadist can do as he pleases according to his whim.

There is no debating with jihadists, and that is why they frighten us. They speak of their divine mandate — the establishment of a worldwide caliphate — but their means go far beyond this objective. Their practise denies the humanity of the other and allows the ultimate victory of the perpetrator over the victim, of the believer over the unbeliever, of man over woman, of the lord over his slaves. The victim is deprived of all his rights: — he can only hope for mercy, a gesture from the all-powerful victor which is calculated to humiliate. Such mercy can be given in certain cases, when the victim converts to Islam; which is tantamount to a psychic rape.

Nowadays, these hordes appear not on horses, but in all-terrain vehicles and with grenade launchers, but the earth still trembles when they come. They hoist black flags and love death more than life; but only after they have tasted the flesh of enslaved women. They blow up statues, churches, everything that falls into their hands: the dignity of the other is not respected.

Moral Imperatives do not Apply

Their motives elude our understanding. Young men with solid future prospects join the jihadists. They abjure education and marriage in favour of fighting a war in which the beheading of the victim, his ultimate humiliation, becomes an initiation ritual. Young men who wield a sword no longer entertain any doubts, know no pity, no hesitation, and in so doing they free themselves from their last inhibitions. Dozens of jihadist videos provide evidence for this brutal Stone Age ritual.

The bystanders who witness this decisive moment — which breaks through all limitations — are nervous, because the killer is not always secure, and perhaps his hand still trembles. They cry “Allahu Akhbar” to strengthen him in throwing overboard, once and for all, the last remaining doubt that may still be in him. He guides the knife and makes of the prisoner a butchered animal. Henceforth nothing binds him any longer to a moral world. Now he can kill and find satisfaction in it, and his companions respect him. He has burst the bonds of civilization.

The English philosopher, writer and cultural critic George Steiner once remarked that the Jews are hated because they invented conscience and the ideal of moral and ethical wholeness [Vervollkommnung]. Man hates them for it, because he keeps trying to fulfil these moral imperatives, but he continually fails. He fails, because no one can fulfil these high moral commandments [Geboten]. The Islamic Jihad circumvents this existential problem.

The Ultimate Fighter

Jihad allows the believers to switch off the voice of reason and conscience. They can henceforth practise raw sexual violence. The voice of the horde is the voice of orgiastic lust. These hordes slaughter men and boys and turn girls and women into sex slaves. Once again man is as defenceless as he was for the tens of thousands of years before we abolished human sacrifice and began the slow and painful process of overcoming our brutal nature.

Jihad has so much power because it can disconnect the hard-won limits which we have internalised during the process of becoming civilised. Jihad brings to the world the ultimate fighter who no longer admits of any limitations. These people require no political or religious programme. They are not driven by any kind of social or economic disadvantage. Their absurd notion of a world-spanning Caliphate is just as much of a pretext as all the other senseless ideas which demand the killing of unbelievers so that a paradise of pure believers can arise. No, it is only about the wish to rape and destroy. Our culture has a name for that: evil.

"Video: Baby killers: ISIS recruits children to perform beheadings, shoot rifles, carry out terrorist attacks
Posted on August 30, 2014 by ADMIN 2

Children were crucified for three days for not fasting during Ramadan, children were brought to watch beheadings, stoning of women for “adultery” (rape victims), and other sharia punishments to be taught to judge “right from wrong” and help to identify the wrong doers and train children to kill them. The dream society of the Muslims, their much yearned for Caliphate promise to cut the head of parents who do not hand over their children to ISIS children camps. This is basically just a branch of Hamas and their children’s ‘summer camps’.

ISIS recruits children to perform beheadings, shoot rifles, carry out terrorist attacks

Video postings from the terror group show little boys firing weapons. Kids tell of being forced to watch decapitations and stonings, according to a report.

BY Deborah Hastings
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

The Islamic terror group ISIS is now focusing its recruiting efforts on children, posting videos of little boys firing weapons almost as big as they are.

In one, a child wearing a ski mask hoists an AK-47 onto a makeshift firing platform, pulls the trigger and then staggers from the recoil.

Reaching the hearts and minds of the next generation of terrorists has become a principal tenet of the Sunni extremist network spreading from Syria to Iran.

A 13-year-old boy who spoke to CNN on the condition of anonymity explained how he fled to Turkey after he was solicited by ISIS to go to a children’s terror camp.

“My friends and I were studying at the mosque, and they taught us that we should enroll in jihad with the (Islamic State),” said the child, identified as Mohammed. “I wanted to go, but my father did not allow me to.”

But the boy’s dad said ISIS terrorists showed up at the family’s house after learning he’d forbidden his son from attending.

They said “if you prevent Mohammed from coming to the camp, we will cut off your head,” his father recounted.

The boy went.

He said the children in his camp jogged every day, read the Koran and learned how to use weapons, including Kalashnikovs.

Then there were the really horrible demonstrations.

“We saw a young man who did not fast for Ramadan, so they crucified him for three days, and we saw a woman being stoned because she committed adultery,” the boy told the cable network.

Other times, they were forced to watch people get their heads cut off.

His father tried to visit several times, but camp guards rebuffed him.

He is only a child, they might make him a suicide bomber and (convince him) that he will be in paradise and stuff like that,” the father said.

Yet, he said, he found it hard to believe the boys comprehended the true implications of what they were being taught.

“They thought war and guns were entertainment,” the dad said.

Nonetheless, he was finally able to persuade camp leaders to let his son out, and the family fled to Turkey.
Young boys study the Koran and the ways of war at secet ISIS training camps for children springing up in Syria and Iraq. CNN

Mohammed still has his faith. It’s just not the violent version that ISIS spews.

“I love my religion because I am a Muslim,” he said. “And I used to go with my father for the prayers before ISIS came. But my father has taught me that religion is not about fighting, but it is about love and forgiveness.”"

See, Islamic preachers are also calling for a renewal of mind to stem the Takfiri onslaught.

I remember even before BH in Nigeria, Northern youth were often encouraged to kill non Northerners during unnecessary religious riots. In fact, when BH started their onslaught against Christians and churches, Moslem youth in Kano and Maiduguri protested jubilantly in favor. I vividly remember the picture of one youth carrying a real dead cat crucified on a cross during the jubilations. Now, the tide is against not only non-Muslims, but moderate Moslems as well.

Other Muslims adults and leaders ought to join their voices to this call.   I particularly appreciate these quotes from the Islami scholar's preaching:

"O Ummahof Islam, O bearersof the truth, O lovers of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), is it not time forus to recognize the danger that surround us andthreatens our spiritualand worldlyinterests?Isit not time forus to give up all useless andunnecessary speculations andsenseless battles andminor differences, andinstead to focus our effortson defending andpropagating the true Islam, andto unite with our truthful leaders andscholars so that we may all walktogether on the path of truth andguidance, andalso show to the world that Islamdoes not have anything to do with Boko Harams, extremists, khawaarijandtheir actions?   Who will do that, O Ummahof Islam?Who will standup forthe pure andpeaceful Islam, adhere to it call others to it, rallyall the Muslims behind it striveforitssake anddefendit – after Allah-except you, O Muslims? So be asAllahwants you to be andHe will fulfillHis promiseto you. And help, guidance come only from Him".

" Brothers andSisters, The followingare some of the characteristicsof the khawaarij: 1- They (Extremists) Misinterpretthe Qur’an. 2- The extremists distortthe concept of Jihad. 3- The extremists spillInnocentMuslims andnon-Muslims blood. Ifwe can remember respected Brothers andSisters, Boko Haramin our country (Nigeria) are alwaysandeverydaykillingandslaughtering Innocent Citizens, both Muslims andnon – Muslims. "Mybeloved ones, Here are some circumstances which cause the khawaarijandextremists ideology to breed in society: 1- Lack of understandingthe religion, weakness in legislativeknowledge, or taking the knowledge from untrust-worthy sources. 2- Extremismin followingthe religious principlesandover strictnessin the religion. 3- Unbalanced love andjealousy forthe religion(i.e. extreme emotions without knowledge andwisdom) 4- Abstainingfrom the scholars, taking knowledge from them andfollowingthem. 5- Learningfordeception in order to earnmore respect than the scholars andother people. 6- Ifspeakersare young in age andlack wisdom andexperience. 7- The widespreadof evil, corruption andoppression in the communities andthe abandoningof youth andabandoningof enjoining good andforbiddingevil. 8- Resentment of the socialsituationandthose responsibleforit. 9- Exciting the youth andthe callersto Islamto disputeandargue with the authorities– this is a big plot againstthe religionanditspeople. 10- Little patience andweak wisdom in propagation."

Apartfrom the use of militaryforce, to eradicateBoko HaramInsurgency andall kind of Terrorismentirelyin Nigeria, the authoritiesmust try asmuch aspossible: 1- To engage the young populationthrough education. To make education very easy andaccessible to the masses andto help them, enlighten them on the importanceof knowledge. 2- To build the trust between the Nigerianleaders andcitizens. 3- To ensure justice. 4- To Promote equality. 5- To stop the stealingandlooting of public money. 6- To engage the youth by bringing anend to unemployment. 7- To encourage andsupportthe moral andreligious teachings so that people will have the strong fearof Allahwith them. 8- To sincerelyreconcile, arbitrate, dialogue andhave a concrete andstrong peace treatywith the insurgents. With the condition that if they can drop theirweapons andstop fightingthe state."

[quote author=vedaxcool]

Why should the thread be deleted for falsehood? That would be unjust. I knew from your starting point that this is what you people aimed at. I don't see any falsehood in a post that is trending on the whole Internet and has only been reposted with clear evidences of origins. The story is very plausible and we have similar incidents and precedents in Northern Nigeria, Syria and Iraq.

No intended malice towards anyone or religion but for us all to make changes where necessary. I have accused or maligned no religion. The call is on all religions and tribes to desist from scuttling the future of our children. I could post other similar incidents of extremist molestation, slavery, decapitating and terrorizing of innocent children, both boys and girls to support this, but I feel it's unnecessary. There is a clear message and there's no better place, forum and time for matured minds to ruminate and discuss these issues than NL. Perhaps youth like vedaxcool and blockus would be saved from a mindset that could lead them into falling for extremism.

This post is a child of necessity in view of the growing incidences of violence caused by extremist indoctrination and taking precedence from TV coverage of 2 Nigerian born Britons who slaughtered an innocent British soldier recently, there's obviously need for us to open up issues like this and educate our people to prevent them falling for the lure of extremism.

Serious minded matured comments are welcome.
But there's absolutely no need for trading insults.

And I do hope someday you'll be proud to teach your children too all these words. It would have been better if you could focus on issues at hand, my Boy. I would love good reasoning better than throwing hate speech.

The point still remains that all people, as well as Christians, traditionalists, Muslims and all others need to disalign and disengage from all these practices that bring our civilization back. But unfortunately, those who are fanning embers of hate and violence all over the world now also call themselves Muslims and there's need to address that.

You write like you deserve your Moniker, Blockus. Maybe you may want to change that to something more manly someday when you grow up. I have a book to lend out, "10 steps to a Black man growing up quick", by Caucaus White. After reading, you will never use that n**g* word again.

I have no plan to 'switch up' (sic). While it appears that the post is not exactly as happened, which is yet to be proved beyond reasonable doubt, it is a known fact that those people you referred to as your brothers do even worse things! What do you do on Net, when there's so much information and news all over? Do you only post on NL without bothering to check on the news sites? Have you not been reading news about Boko, ISIL and ISIS whom you call your brothers? Have they not been engaging in similar acts? That's why it's easier to believe such stories as this rather than otherwise.

If by telling the truth, I'm 'smeering' (sic), I have no apology but to insist that we all make efforts to change and transcend into 21st Century thinking. I could offer you a road map on that if you wish to renew your mind, but you've got to be serious about it first. Holler if you need help.

Granted that the image of that particular child-bride may have been proven false but we all know Islam and some other religions and cultures permit child marriage and don't care a hoot about abuse of women and children. It's as evil as the rescutitated culture of summary judgement and beheading or stoning of young teen girls for crimes of chastity, even in cases where it is proved that they were only unfortunate to have been raped by adults, as well as female genital mutilation.

Imagine if Christian societies still practice the Law of Moses. Almost all our politicians and religious leaders will have been stoned to death for various offences like stealing, apostacy and the likes. And no Muslim would be spared either. But we are in the 21st Century, for God's sake!!!

Of course, not all Muslims still maintain this crude way of thinking, but it's holding on to such mindsets by Islamists that fuel the terrorist instinct that is reviving all over the world. How can anyone justify driving civilization back to the Stone Age?

Are you then saying it doesn't happen? Have you been following up on stories from Iraq, Syria and even up our North with underage Chibok girls? Let's admit that there is a problem to adress and wise up into more civilized ways of thinking. It's not only Islamists; even some of our traditional people are still deeply involved in this terrible act. A girl is not an object of trade negotiations, no matter the situation. Even in war times, no one has a right to molest our girls. No one!

Well good you know you have a lot of job on your hands, wish you all the best as you open threads condemning them for such practices.

If only you could join me in the job and also convert as many as possible to have this mind set, we could do a lot together. It's no use denying it.

There's a big problem here that we all need to address. It's more about disrespect for others' feelings and preferences, be they children or even adults. It's still this flagrant mindset of violating women's rights with impunity that encourages Boko Haram, ISIS, ISIL and the likes to sell non-Muslim girls and women into war prostitution. It looks harmless when you are not directly affected, but consider how you will feel if it happens to your own wife, sister or daughter.

Very good of you to point out that it's not only Muslims that engage in this practice. But I believe that you agree with me that it's a practice that should be discouraged. We should therefore, extend the advice to all the other groups like the Coptic Christians, (whose picture you just sampled) our traditionalist Africans, Indian tribesmen and others, don't you think?

While it's quite acceptable that you have pointed out a valid objection to the meme on the ISIS militant and the 7 year old, which has been trending the Internet, your objection to the story being on the Islam forum is however misplaced. It is common knowlege that some Islamists and their supporters, who could also be following posts on the forum might learn a lesson or two from the post.

An ISIS terrorist militant forcefully married a terrified 7 year old 'kafir' girl only to later meet his tragic end at the hands of Iraqi military.

In a twitter post by a Muslim, Fadel_alHadid, a picture of the terrified little girl draped in ISIS flag was displayed, with the militant wearing a sneeringly happy face. But in another twitter post by Raju Paruleka, the happy face had turned into the face of an inhabitant of Hell after the militant met his tragic end through the bullets of Iraqi soldiers.

It may appear that justice has been duly served, except that even death is not enough punishment for such a grown up who chose to twist the destiny of a young innocent child. Much good would be served if our Muslim brothers could change their perception to the issue of child marriage.

Benbobola: now i also have to add this. about 3 weeks ago, my dog killed a large bush rat and left it at the front of his cage in d morning. i praised him for doing it anyway and in my happiness and mood of ignorance, i cooked it for him. 2 days later, he was d sickest i have ever seen. i mean to the extent he was stooling stinking blood, he never ate, he rarely moved, had to be carried and lost weight terribly. A daily trip to the vet every morning for a week including sunday was wat stopped it (lots of antibiotics, vit supplements). it was hell, i tot he was going to die buh am so glad hes good now. so, pls lets watch wat our dogs eat. PLEASE. Thank you

Seun:
What do you think almost killed him?
- It could have been that the rat was poisoned, which made it easy for your dog to catch it. The poison could have caused the symptoms.
- It could also be that your dog was simply not used to eating lots of meat & bones all at once. Perhaps you'd been feeding him rice, indomie, etc. Perhaps you rarely gave him edible bones to chew on. In that case, if he ate the whole bushrat at once, and especially if he didn't chew the bones properly, then the bones simply would not digest in his stomach, and could go on to perforate his intestines. This would explain why he refused to eat and why he was stooling stinking blood (which is basically blood from the perforation mixed with partially digested poo).

There was a time I fed my dog a catfish from the supermarket. Sometime later, he started yellow liquid with drops of blood. I was really worried but I kept observing him and feeding him normal dog food. Finally he pooped what looked like the skull of a catfish, with yellow liquid, blood, and some blades of grass which he probably ate to cure his discomfort. After that, he was fine, and I'd learnt not to feed catfish to my dog.

Benbobola and Seun , I have often asked around for the reason why our locals advise against feeding dogs with bush rat intestine as well as that of some other animals that eat kolanuts, like antelopes, for example. The final result of my investigations on this was the same cautioning that dogs don't or must not eat kolanuts, which is developed as proverbial, at least, among the Yoruba. I discovered from my findings that bush rats and such other animals often eat kolanuts, which are poisonous to dogs. I don't know if anyone else has ever made similar enquiries that confirm this.

I'm guessing that this might explain all the responses on this stream of dogs dying after eating bush rats. If the concept is actually true, the bush rats causing death to the dogs may have eaten kolanuts and not synthetic poison. This could be a caution to advise that even if you allow your dogs to eat bush rats, make sure they don't eat the intestines.

And Seun , your dog stooling blood may have been caused by a punture of it's intestine by the cat fish strong bones. Dog breeders often advise that fish with strong bones should not be fed to dogs, except you are able to remove the long sharp vertebral bones. You may want to find out more about this from Vets.

"82. Evidence discovered in 1978 showed that East Africans were making steel for more than 1,500 years: “Assistant Professorof Anthropology Peter Schmidt and Professor of Engineering Donald H. Avery have found as long as 2,000 years ago Africans living on the western shores of Lake Victoria had produced carbon steel in preheated forced draft furnaces, a method that was technologically more sophisticated than any developed in Europe until the mid-nineteenth century.”"

Quite true! But I'll wonder why they did not forge ahead into further development of iron into industrial machinery! It would have projected a cultural advancement for Africa.

The Nok culture culture had developed the technology of mining and refining cast iron as far back as 900 BC. The civilization appeared in Northern Nigeria around 1000 BC and history has it that it vanished under unknown and mysterious circumstances around 300AD.

Anyone interested may want to check on these few links for more on the Nok culture or google other links for more information.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nok_culture

africanhistory.about.com/od/kingdoms/a/NokCulture.htm

www.ancient-origins.net/ancient-places-africa/highly-advanced-and-mysterious-ancient-civilization-nok-00679#!bddtcH

It might also be of interest to note that it is the development made by other civilizations in processing iron into steel that gave them the advantage of developing technology of arms and industrial machinery production. Although also made from iron, steel is harder and more maleable than iron and it's production requires a slightly more technical process. However, it is not known that the Nok civilization was able to develop iron into steel. But generally, it is believed that it is this advantage of producing steel that was used in advancing development of firearms and industrial machinery by other civilizations.

A Russian Soldier's Instagram Posts May Be The Clearest Indication Of Moscow's Involvement In East Ukraine
PAUL SZOLDRA JUL. 31, 2014, 12:06 AM 21,018 20

Moscow has tried to hide its support for pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, but some social media posts from a Russian soldier may reveal even more direct involvement in the region.

Over at BuzzFeed, reporter Max Seddon has the scoop on a 24-year-old soldier named Alexander Sotkin , who has been posting some very interesting photos of his military service, and the locations of the photos are rather telling.

While Seddon has embedded a number of Sotkin's photos, which show him in southern Russia taking selfies, it's this one the communications specialist posted, in rebel-controlled Krasna Talycha in east Ukraine, that's most intriguing:

Russia has repeatedly denied having troops inside east Ukraine. So this seemingly harmless selfie may have just blown the whole show. The soldier also posted another photo of himself on July 5, from Krasny Derkul, which is also in Ukraine:

With Instagram's geotagging feature, these two photos pulled the latitude and longitude from the GPS on his phone or tablet, placing him well inside Ukraine. Location data is added to photos as long as the user selects "add to photo map" before posting.

Since it's based on GPS data, geolocation on Instagram is usually pretty accurate. However, as Seddon writes in his post, there is always the possibility Sotkin "spoofed" his GPS signal, or more simply put: used equipment to fake a location signal.
Even if that's the case, it doesn't seem it would make much sense.

There's reason to be skeptical; it just seems strange Russian military involvementin the region could be revealed in such a way:

But it's believable if you consider these types of operational security (OPSEC) issues are so common in the U.S. military that troops are required to go through formal training to learn of the dangers. One only needs to search certain military-specific hashtags on Instagram to find all kinds of photos of U.S. military personnel stationed worldwide.

"A U.S. Government official on sensitive travel to Iraq created a security risk for himself and others by tweeting his location and activities every few hours," one briefing slide reads from the U.S. Army's Joint Base Lewis-McChord, which warned of the dangers. In mentioning geotagging, the brief noted the location-based services "bring the enemy right to the Army's doorstep."
Still, U.S. intelligence and a vast amount of open-source data, like social media posts and videos from east Ukraine, have offered a large amount of evidence suggesting that Moscow has been supplying pro-Russian separatists with training, intelligence, and sophisticated weapons systems.

While the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine are tied to Russian intelligence, there hasn't yet been clear evidence of the Russian military operating across the border. However, there have been reports of Russian troops firing artillery over the border in recent days, according to Washington Post.
It's worth mentioningthat Moscow denied having troops in Ukraine's Crimeaas well, beforeRussian President VladimirPutin finally acknowledged"Crimean self-defense forces were ofcourse backed by Russian servicemen" in April.

bookface:

Russian government is complaining bitterly about propagandistic lies? LOL!!! Since when is Russia the innocent party? Have you watched Russian news media to realize the extent of propaganda being meted out?

It is really quite simple. It should be assumed that every government will mete out has much propaganda as they can to sway public opinion to their own advantage. It is no brainer, the western government controls more than half of the world's media outlet, so they clearly have the upper hand in the propaganda contest, but it doesn't mean that the Russians are the squeaky clean innocent party you wish to portray them to be.

In addition, Governments/countries don't have partners or friends - they have interests! and any government is only expected to pursue foreign policy that are in line with its core interests

Can you or someone explain why it is in US interest to go to war with Russia, knowing fully well that this will mean the destruction of more than 80% of US cities and the death of more than half of its citizens? You sound very much like the tin foil hat wearers who only get their information from one source which obviously leads to one conclusion - "Washington is the bogeyman", because? "look at Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan".

However, i often wonder why Russia (the supposed Victim) avoids the Bogeyman label afterall, it waged war against Afganistan: Carved up Gerogia: Carved up Moldova: Grabbed Crimea and it continues to threaten Lithuania, Lativa and Poland?

And why do all these countries who were once members of the Soviet Union so desperately seek NATO's membership if their big bear neighbour was actually at peace with them?

The basic points are really quite simple:

1) Countries have interests. It is in Russia's interest to drive as much wedge as possible between Europe and the United states. It is in United States interests to keep Russia busy by making its environment unstable and making sure that the rest of the world sees it as a pariah state.

2) In other to further the first point, both countries will make use of all the tools available at their disposal. E.g

---Russia nailed a CIA operative on national TV:
---- couple of months later Edward Snowden disclosed NSA closely guarded secrets
-----then the Russians intercepted and released a recorded tape of Victoria Nuland's "Fu*k the EU"
------then somehow, a CIA converted agent was caught in Germany!

etc. I do not believe that all these events are not interconnected. The result of this of course is that the percentage of Europeans who see the US favourably are now at an all time low. This is music to Putin's ears. Drive a wedge between them, divide and conquer!

The US on the other hand responds by encouraging all the smaller countries surrounding Russia to embrace the West knowing fully well that Russia will react badily to this. By doing so, the US gets the opportunity to label Russia as a threat to Eastern Europe and the US gets to keep its position as a security guarantor.

In the midst of all this, Europe will remain a pawn and the person who wins the propaganda/information war gets to keep its interest.

3) In as much as the rhetoric may sound tough and crazy, i do not believe that either side wants a fully blown war because there are simply no winners in such a scenario. Russia probably has ICBMs that are positioned towards every major US city and US probably has the same. Russia's total GDP is less than that of California. If Russia nukes America and America does the same, America will stand to lose much more than Russia.

The US wants to control the World, but so does Russia and so does China. Their are no victims here, only players. Propaganda, lies, threats are all tools of the game.

Great analyses you've done here. None of these nations we refer to as 'developed' would want to go to war with one another, except their personal/national interests are gravely threatened. They all will prefer to set weaker nations against each other to project and protect their national interests, including sale of arms and ammunitions to warring parties, export of essential commodities required during wars, export of national ideologies, projection of national vested interests by claiming to protect their proteges, weakening of opponents' national interests, patronizing the decline of adversary interests, ... and all such selfish interests.

Sure, there may come a time when Russia and the US will engage in direct military confrontation, but it's definitely not going to be towards protecting any weaker nation or their (the weaker nation's) interest.

There are 2 major interests that could engineer direct confrontation between these neo-colonializing powers and those are:

1. The balkanization of the arctic regions between the US, Russia and China for the control of the massive oil and gas resources.

2. A Middle East engendered war fostered on these players because of the sensitivity of interests, newly discovered oil and gas prospects and the desire for recolonization for markets, military and political influences.

None of these nations is set for chivalry.. they all seek their very personal interests and nothing more.

Just feel to share this, perhaps it could help someone out there take a decision on whether to breed Rotts or not.

Rotts are great hunting dogs; and deadly killers of other animals and humans too if provoked. My 2 Rotts hate any other breed challenging them, so they both attacked and murdered the fully matured male adult Alsatian I brought in about 9 months ago because he dared to attack the female in pregnancy stage. The Alsatian too was almost as big as them, but lighter in weight, as you would normally expect.

I never feed my dogs with raw meat, but in the last 4 years, the Rotts have killed over 20 big snakes within my large compound, and also many rats and birds of different sizes; some rats as large small grasscutters. Not used to raw meat, they don't eat them, but just leave them in the open, hoping someone would roast or cook to their delight. But they recently also learnt the art of crushing the heads of the snakes with the aim to siphon the venom to antidote the bites they receive and venom spewed into their eyes from those snakes. None has been seriously ill due to snake venom so far, even though I also get them treated in addition.

Because of the fear of these canines, in the area, people keep a distance from my gates while passing bye!!! Thank God, they've never attacked any human yet. If they do, I can only guess the result. But they are well trained to attack only if they sense serious threats and they keep cool and calm without barking at visitors, only to spring out suddenly whenever they believe an outsider is constituting a nuisance to one of those living in the compound. God help that outsider if there's no one to control them at that time.

Don't ask if I live I the jungle. The sources of the vermins? It's a large estate where there are a few undeveloped plots of land festering vermins that roam in the night. All the plots allocated in the government owned estate are over 000 sq mts, and many people are unable to adequately manage the weeds on their premises, leading to overgrown bushes too. Not too far from the estate are some other developing private estates with very few houses too.

Hearless, cold-blooded Ukrainian separatists? Do they really deserve the support?

"Female Separatist Posts Instagrams Showing Off Makeup Looted from MH17

Catherine Parkhomenko, a pro-Russian separatist whose digital persona is Ekaterina Parkhomenko, recently posted several photographs on Instagram in which she tried out some new beauty products. Unfortunately, these products appeared to taken from the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, which was looted after the plane went down last week.

Parkomenko lives in Torez, nearby the MH17 crash. She described herself asa separatist and said she is "sick of everything Ukrainian due to the recent events." On one particular photo, in which she is holding blue "Catrice" mascara, she writes, "Mascara from Amsterdam, or rather from the field, well you understand." She also posted two selfies wearing the mascara.
When a commenter asked where she got the mascara, she replied, "An acquaintance of mine, a looter, gave it to me." A number of Instagram users then attacked her for using the mascara. However, as an admittedly pro-Russian separatist, she may not have been fazed. Her Instagram was actually hacked as a result of the photographs.

While bloggers on both the Ukrainian and Russian front questioned the authenticityof the post, the Daily Mail determined "a number of well-known web writers believe it to be genuine and have expressed horror." BY24, which found her real name, was also able to confirm she lives in Torez.

Bozhena Rynska, a prominent Russian blogger and columnist for Gazeta Ru , posted the photographs to her almost 200,000 Facebook followers and expressed her disgust at Parkhomenko's actions. This spurreda a number of new comments on the photos, some of which Parkhomenko replied to, and allowed users to find her other social media accounts.

After the pictures began gaining mass attention online, she deleted her Instagram account as well as other forms of social media. Since that time, however, the Instagram account, @zolotosya, has been hacked and new images posted:

The hacker writes in the picture: "It's not expensive, the things from the fields, you understand? Ekaterina Parkhomenko Town of Torez." And in the caption: "So the "hero" won't be forgotten."

This adds to a number of other confirmed looting cases, including used credit cards from victims of the crash, some victims' phone being answered by "Eastern European sounding voices", and investigators discovering evidence missing from the crash site."

Well then, Nairaminted. It's my bad to say, "I believe...", perhaps carried away in argumentation against your 'conclusive evidences' justifying claims of western culpability, and your incessant initiation of false flag and conspiracy theories. I admit that error. But my subsequent posts suggest more of waiting to get all facts right before concluding. Your second reference however is just an 'evidence' put forward by others which I posted to balance up your side, not a conclusion by me.

In any case, my posts from now will even center more on critiques of western methods, and their past complicity in similar disasters, just as I will not spare the Russians and their protege separatists if I have more reason to believe they may have been culpable in the matter. I have already done a post in which in The Diplomat, someone analysed a more realistic critique of western conclusions and sought a benefit of doubt to Russian direct involvement. (ref. thediplomat.com/2014/07/malaysian-airlines-flight-mh17-what-if-russia-wasnt-involved/ ). That is the way I believe a truly independent observer should think, question inconclusive argumentations and give others the leverage to think for themselves and not necessarily jumping into conclusions in support of any side. That amounts to nothing but propaganda.

If you have followed my posts in the past, that has always been my personal style and never do I stand in dogmatic support of any side. I believe that we are all involved in academic discourse that will permit readers to make up their own minds, not propaganda in support of any myopic opinion(s).

I just read another viewpoint in which the US was evidently culpable in similar incident in the past and was going to share when I saw your reply to my last post to you. Hoping that I'm not giving you the poetic licence to use it as a booster to your false flag and conspiracy thories, I post; enjoy it!

www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/war_stories/2014/07/the_vincennes_downing_of_iran_air_flight_655_the_united_states_tried_to.html

"America’s Flight 17 - The time the United States blew up a passenger plane—and tried to cover it up.
ByFred Kaplan

Fury and frustration still mount over the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, and justly so. But before accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of war crimes or dismissing the entire episode as a tragic fluke, it’s worth looking back at another doomed passenger plane—Iran Air Flight 655—shot down on July 3, 1988, not by some scruffy rebel on contested soil but by a U.S. Navy captain in command of an Aegis-class cruiser called the Vincennes.
Fred Kaplan is the author of The Insurgents: David Petraeus and the Plot to Change the American Way of War and 1959: The Year Everything Changed.
A quarter-century later, the Vincennesis almost completely forgotten, but it still ranks as the world’s seventh deadliest air disaster (Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 is the sixth) and one of the Pentagon’s most inexcusable disgraces.
In several ways, the two calamities are similar. The Malaysian Boeing 777 wandered into a messy civil war in eastern Ukraine, near the Russian border; the Iranian Airbus A300 wandered into a naval skirmish—one of many clashes in the ongoing “Tanker War” (another forgotten conflict)—in the Strait of Hormuz. The likely pro-Russia rebel thought that he was shooting at a Ukrainian military-transport plane; the U.S. Navy captain, Will Rogers III, mistook the Airbus for an F-14 fighter jet. The Russian SA-11 surface-to-air missile that downed the Malaysian plane killed 298 passengers, including 80 children; the American SM-2 surface-to-air missile that downed the Iranian plane killed 290 passengers, including 66 children. After last week’s incident, Russian officials told various lies to cover up their culpability and blamed the Ukrainian government; after the 1988 incident, American officials told various lies and blamed the Iranian pilot. Not until eight years later did the U.S. government compensate the victims’ families, and even then expressed “deep regret,” not an apology.
As the Boston Globe’s defense correspondent at the time, I reported on the Vincennesshoot-down, and I have gone back over my clips, chronicling the official lies and misstatements as they unraveled. Here’s the truly dismaying part of the story. On Aug. 19, 1988, nearly seven weeks after the event, the Pentagon issued a 53-page report on the incident. Though the text didn’t say so directly, it found that nearly all the initial details about the shoot-down—the “facts” that senior officials cited to put all the blame on Iran Air’s pilot—were wrong. And yet the August report still concluded that the captain and all the other Vincennes
officers acted properly.
For example, on July 3, at the first Pentagon press conference on the incident, Adm. William Crowe, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that the Iranian plane had been flying at 9,000 feet and descending at a “high speed” of 450 knots, “headed directly” for the Vincennes . In fact, however, the Aug. 19 report—written by Rear Adm. William Fogarty of U.S. Central Command—concluded (from computer tapes found inside the ship’s combat information center) that the plane was “ascending through 12,000 feet” at the much slower speed of 380 knots. “At no time” did the Airbus “actually descend in altitude,” the report stated.
When I pointed out this discrepancy at the press conference where the report was handed out, Secretary of Defense Frank Carlucci waved me away and said, “It’s really questionable whether a different reading would have affected the judgment” to shoot down the plane. (I still find this astonishing.)
There were other equally disturbing discrepancies between Crowe’s July 3 press conference (which struck me as suspicious even at the time) and Fogarty’s Aug. 19 report. Crowe had said the plane was flying “outside the prescribed commercial air route”; the report said it was flying “within the established air route.” Crowe had said the plane’s transponder was “squawking” a code over the “Mode 2” military channel; the report stated that it was squawking over the “Mode 3” civilian channel. Crowe had said the Vincennesissued several warnings; the report confirmed this, but noted, “Due to heavy pilot workload during take-off and climb-out, and the requirement to communicate with” two air traffic control centers, the pilot “probably was not monitoring” the international air-distress channel.
Adm. George B. Crist, head of U.S. Central Command, issued a “non-punitive letter of censure” to the ship’s anti–air warfare officer, but Secretary of Defense Carlucci withdrew the letter. Not only that, but two years later, Capt. Rogers was issued the Legion of Merit “for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service” as the Vincennes ’ commander “from April 1987 to May 1989.”"

A much more practical and intelligent analysis of doubt of Russia's culpability in the shooting down of the Malasian airline:

thediplomat.com/2014/07/malaysian-airlines-flight-mh17-what-if-russia-wasnt-involved/

"Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17: What If Russia Wasn’t Involved?
There is an increasing amount of evidence that Russia wasn’t necessarily directly involved in the tragedy.
Nearly immediately after MalaysianAirlines Flight 17 was downed by a surface-to-air missile on Thursday, all eyes in the West turned to Russia. Ukrainianand Western officials, along with most of the Western press, have all but blamed the incident on Russia. Even if Russian agents weren’t directly involved in the incident, Russia is accused of providing the rebels with the material and technical support necessary to carry out the attack.
For Ukrainian and Western officials, this is a smart strategy. If I was an adviser to the U.S. or Ukrainiangovernment, I would undoubtedly advocate that trying to leverage the tragedy to pressure Russia to abandon its support for the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine (albeit, I would advise against making falsifiable accusations before the facts were in). I would also advise that the American or Ukrainian government seek to use the situation to rally greater European support for sanctions against Russia if Moscow did not back down. There are good reasons to think that this strategy would work and the downing of MH17 will end up being a game changer in the ongoing civil war in the Ukraine.
That being said, the Pacific Realist is not on the payrolls of the U.S., Ukraine or any government. As such, I feel at liberty to state what seems to be increasingly obvious but largely ignored: namely, that it’s quite possible that Russia wasn’t directly involved in the MH17 incident.
Which isn’t to say that it is not possible that it did play some role. U.S. and other intelligence seem to confirm that the surface-to-air missile was fired from rebel-controlled areas of the Ukraine, not from Russian soil. Still, Russia has non-uniformed military and intelligence officers on the ground in eastern Ukraine, and some of these forces could have participated in the operation that shot down the plane. Alternatively (or additionally), Russia could have provided the rebels with the Buk surface-to-air missile system that was used to shoot down the plane. Even if Moscow didn’t provide the system itself, it could have provided the rebels with technical training to allow them to operate the system.
Still, it seems increasingly likely that Russia wasn’t involved at all (at least directly). While Russia certainly has some military and intelligence officers on the ground, it’s difficult to believe they’d be incompetent enough to think it’s a good idea to shoot down an aircraft flying at a high altitude without having any idea whether it is a military or civilian plane. I understand that many in the West see Russia as an adversary, and rightly so. But it is foolish to assume that one’s adversaries are stupid.
It’s more likely that Russia provided the rebels with the Buk surface-to-air missile system that was used in the attack. After all, Moscow has been providing the rebels with anti-aircraft weaponry for some time now. At the same time, there’s good reasons to doubt the system used against MH17 came from Russia. To begin with, it’s not clear what Russia would stand to gain from providing the rebels with such sophisticated AA systems. Russia clearly has an interest in disrupting and neutralizing Kiev’s ability to use air power against the rebels. However, given the fairly limited air capabilities of the Ukraine military, the rebels could significantly disrupt air operations using more rudimentary anti-aircraft weaponry like MANPADS. Transferring these to the rebels would carryfar less risk for Russia than giving them more sophisticated systems (for example, MANPADS can’t shoot down civilian aircraft flying at high altitudes).
More importantly, the Ukraine military also operates Buk surface-to-air systems, and there were reports last month that the rebels had captured at least one of these systems from the Ukraine military. Thus, while it wouldn’t be shocking to learn Russia had provided the Buk system that shot down MH17, it seems at least as likely that the system originated from Ukrainian forces.
Russia would be most likely to have provided technical training to the rebels to enable them to operate a Buk system they had captured. Although the system is fairly easy to use relative to other sophisticated anti-aircraft missile systems, the individuals operating the system would have to have had some training. And training the rebels to use a Buk system would be less detectable and less egregious if Russia was caught red handed doing it (at least, it would have been seen as less egregious had the rebels not shot down a civilian aircraft.) Moreover, Gen. Philip Breedlove, head of U.S. European Command, told reporters last month that Russia has training the rebels in using anti-aircraft weapons. For all these reasons, it’s more likely that Russia provided training to the rebels rather than provided them with the actual Buk systems. However, there is an equally plausible alternative explanation; namely, the rebels using the Buk system had been trained by the Ukraine military. Of course, the Ukraine military wouldn’t have trained them to use the system while they were rebels. However, it stands to reason that some of the current pro-Russian Ukrainianrebels formerly served in the Ukrainian military. After all, only a few short months ago the Ukraine government was controlled by Viktor Yanukovych. Not only is Yanukovych pro-Russian, but he was born in Donetsk Oblast (the province where the plane was shot down), became its Vice-Head in 1996 and then served as its governor for five years between 1997 and 2002. In other words, the plane was shot down in Yanukovych’s home base. It’s hardly unthinkable that some members of the Ukraine military were loyal to the Yanukovych government and Russia, and therefore left the armed forces to join the rebels when the former government was overthrown by western Ukrainians.
Thus, some of the rebel forces most likely have prior experience operating the Buk systems from their days serving in the Ukraine military. Since rebel forces reportedly acquired the Buk missile systems from retreating Ukraine forces last month, but only started using them earlier this week, it’s possible it took the rebel leaders two weeks or so to locate former military men who had experience operating the systems, and/or spent time having them train other rebels in how to use the system.
Three points are worth (re)emphasizing. First, none of the above rules out the possibility that Russia was involved directly in downing MH17. It merely suggests that Russia wasn’t necessarily involved directly in the incident, as many in the Western media seem to assume. Second, regardless of whether Russia was directly involved or not, American officials should continue to try and blame Russia for it in order to get Moscow to withdraw its support for the rebels or convince Europe to increase pressure against Russia. In doing so, the Obama administration should be careful to avoid making accusations that Moscow can later disprove conclusively. However, the situation is murky enough that the White House has adequate ammunition to use against Russia, especially if its charges are more general and vague.
Finally, even if Russia wasn’t directly involved in the downing of MH17, it is not altogether faultless. In fact, it shoulders a significant amount of blame simply because it has been giving the rebels enough support to allow the conflict to continue to escalate this far. TheMH17 tragedy has underscored the risks states incur when arming non-state actors. Hopefully this lesson will be taken to heart not only by Russian officials, but also by their counterparts in other states that arm or are considering arming non-state actors– including Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, Turkey, the EU, the U.S and many, many others..."
